The development of high capacity, low cost, and high safety cathode materials for rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) is an ongoing challenge. Herein, CuV2O6 nanowires are prepared by a facile hydrothermal method to be used as a high-capacity cathode material for ZIBs. The sample displays an initial discharge capacity of 338 mA h g−1 at a current density of 100 mA g−1 and a capacity of 143 mA h g−1 remained at 5 A g−1 after 1200 cycles with a retention of ∼100% except for the initial capacity decay. Systematic structural and elemental characterization confirms that the reduction/oxidation of Cu2+/Cu0 is reversible during the electrochemical process. Li-rich cathode material Li1.18Ni0.15Co0.15Mn0.52O2 is prepared by a sol–gel method and modified with aluminosilicate solid acid (Al2O3·SiO2) via an ultrasonic impregnation process. Compared with the pristine and Al2O3/SiO2-sole-modified counterparts, the Al2O3·SiO2 coating layer with high acid center strength on Li1.18Ni0.15Co0.15Mn0.52O2 material exhibits overall improved electrochemical performance. Galvanostatic charge–discharge tests at the current density of 200 mA g−1 displays the highest capacity retention of 72.5% and voltage retention of 95.1% after 200 cycles for Al2O3·SiO2-coated material. Meanwhile, a high rate capability of 99.2 mAh g−1 after 300 cycles is obtained with a good retention of 65.7% at the current density of 1 A g−1. The analysis of dQ/dV plots indicates the strong acid center strength of Al2O3·SiO2 coating layer on Li1.18Ni0.15Co0.15Mn0.52O2 cathode material can be favor of suppressing the voltage decay and reducing the side reactions between the electrode and the electrolyte. To facilitate the practical application of aqueous Zn metal batteries, numerous artificial interlayers are designed to mitigate rampant parasitic reactions and uncontrollable dendrite growth on the Zn metal anode. Traditionally, these interlayers are prepared through the doctor blade method. However, the introduced insulting binder generally compromises their interfacial performance. In this study, the metal–organic framework (MOF) interlayer is fabricated on the Zn metal anode by a facile and binder‐free electrosynthesis technique. The electrosynthetic Co‐ZIF‐8 interlayer enables the Zn metal anode to sustain cycles of 1280 h with a low voltage hysteresis. Moreover, the full cells coupled with MnO2 and NH4V4O10 cathodes exhibit exceptional cycling performance, maintaining 89% and 72% of their initial capacity after numerous cycles, respectively. Based on SEM measurements and density functional theory calculations, the densely packed morphology, unimpeded Zn2+ ions transport channels, and affinity of the imidazole ring and Co node within the ZIF‐8 structure to Zn atom are demonstrated to inhibit parasitic reactions, promote Zn2+ ions transport, and realize uniform Zn deposition. The proposed electrosynthesis method for constructing the MOF interlayer provides a straightforward and reliable approach to developing a highly stable Zn metal anode. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

NaV 3 O 8 nanobelts were successfully synthesized for Li/Na-ion batteries and rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) by a facile hydrothermal reaction and subsequent thermal transformation. Compared to the electrochemical performance of LIBs and NIBs, NaV 3 O 8 nanobelt cathode materials in ZIBs have shown excellent electrochemical performance, including high specific capacity of 421 mA h g -1 at 100 mA g -1 and good cycle stability with a capacity retention of 94% over 500 cycles at 5 A g -1 .
