In this paper, we study the quasi-two-body decays $B\to P f_0(500)\to P\pi^+\pi^-$ [with $P=(\pi, K, \eta, \eta^{\prime})$] within framework of perturbative QCD (PQCD) factorization approach. With the help of $\pi$-$\pi$ distribution amplitude and scalar form factor $F_{\pi\pi}(\omega^2)$, we calculate the $CP$ averaged branching fraction and the $CP$ asymmetry for the quasi-two-body decays $B\to P f_0(500)\to P\pi^+\pi^-$. Taking the quasi-two-body decay $B^+ \to \pi^+ f_0(500) \to \pi^+ \pi^+ \pi^-$ as an explicit example, we present the behavior of differential branching fraction and direct $CP$ violation versus the $\pi$-$\pi$ invariant mass. The total branching fraction and direct $CP$ violation are $\mathcal{B}(B^+\to \pi^+ [\sigma\to]\pi^+\pi^-) = (1.78 \pm 0.41\pm 0.51) \times 10^{-6}$ and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(B^+\to \pi^+ [\sigma\to]\pi^+\pi^-) = (29.8\pm 11.1\pm 13.0)\%$ respectively. Semantic analysis on visible (RGB) and infrared (IR) images has gained attention for its ability to be more accurate and robust under low-illumination and complex weather conditions. Due to the lack of pre-trained foundation models on the large-scale infrared image datasets, existing methods prefer to design task-specific frameworks and directly fine-tune them with pre-trained foundation models on their RGB-IR semantic relevance datasets, which results in poor scalability and limited generalization. In this work, we propose a scalable and efficient framework called UniRGB-IR to unify RGB-IR downstream tasks, in which a novel adapter is developed to efficiently introduce richer RGB-IR features into the pre-trained RGB-based foundation model. Specifically, our framework consists of a vision transformer (ViT) foundation model, a Multi-modal Feature Pool (MFP) module and a Supplementary Feature Injector (SFI) module. The MFP and SFI modules cooperate with each other as an adpater to effectively complement the ViT features with the contextual multi-scale features. During training process, we freeze the entire foundation model to inherit prior knowledge and only optimize the MFP and SFI modules. Furthermore, to verify the effectiveness of our framework, we utilize the ViT-Base as the pre-trained foundation model to perform extensive experiments. Experimental results on various RGB-IR downstream tasks demonstrate that our method can achieve state-of-the-art performance. The charge equilibration of laser-accelerated carbon ion beams in 2 mg/cm3 foam target was investigated experimentally. The ions were generated through target normal sheath acceleration mechanism in laser-foil interaction scheme. This allows to get the equilibrium charge state in wide energy range near Bragg peak within a single shot. By using foam, the charge equilibration measurement in density regime between gas and solid state was firstly reached out experimentally. It was found that the theoretical predictions with tabulated cross section data for gas target greatly underestimated the charge states. The experimental data are in close agreement with both semi-empirical formula as well as rate equation predictions based on ion-solid interactions. The important role of target density effects that increase the ionization probability and decrease the electron capture probability through frequent multi-collisions in foam are demonstrated. The double electron processes are shown to have little influence on the average charge states. The findings are essential for high energy density physics research where the foams are widely used, and have impacts on a broad range of applications in medical, biological and material fields. The method also provides a new approach to investigate the interaction mechanism of swift heavy ions in matter by taking advantage of the laser-accelerated short-pulse wide-energy range ions.

The radiative leptonic $B\to \gamma\ell\nu_{\ell}$ decay serves as an ideal platform to determine the $B$-meson inverse moment which is a fundamental nonperturbative parameter for the $B$ meson. In this paper, we explore precise QCD contributions to this decay with an energetic photon. We reproduce the next-to-next-to-leading-logarithmic resummation formula for the decay amplitude at leading power in $\Lambda_{\rm QCD}/m_b$. Employing operator identities, we calculate subleading-power contributions from the expansion of the hard-collinear propagator of the internal up quark and the heavy-quark expansion of the bottom quark. We update the contributions from the hadronic structure of the photon to the $\decay$ process with the dispersion technique. Together with other yet known power corrections, phenomenological applications including the partial branching fraction and ratio of the branching fractions of the radiative $B$ decay are investigated., Comment: 29 pages, 6 figures

A novel intense beam-driven scheme for high yield of the tri-alpha reaction 11B(p,{\alpha})2{\alpha} was investigated. We used a foam target made of cellulose triacetate (TAC, C_9H_{16}O_8) doped with boron. It was then heated volumetrically by soft X-ray radiation from a laser heated hohlraum and turned into a homogenous, and long living plasma. We employed a picosecond laser pulse to generate a high-intensity energetic proton beam via the well-known Target Normal Sheath Acceleration (TNSA) mechanism. We observed up to 10^{10}/sr {\alpha} particles per laser shot. This constitutes presently the highest yield value normalized to the laser energy on target. The measured fusion yield per proton exceeds the classical expectation of beam-target reactions by up to four orders of magnitude under high proton intensities. This enhancement is attributed to the strong electric fields and nonequilibrium thermonuclear fusion reactions as a result of the new method. Our approach shows opportunities to pursue ignition of aneutronic fusion.

Thoroughly understanding the transport and energy loss of intense ion beams in dense matter is essential for high-energy-density physics and inertial confinement fusion. Here, we report a stopping power experiment with a high-intensity laser-driven proton beam in cold, dense matter. The measured energy loss is one order of magnitude higher than the expectation of individual particle stopping models. We attribute this finding to the proximity of beam ions to each other, which is usually insignificant for relatively-low-current beams from classical accelerators. The ionization of the cold target by the intense ion beam is important for the stopping power calculation and has been considered using proper ionization cross section data. Final theoretical values agree well with the experimental results. Additionally, we extend the stopping power calculation for intense ion beams to plasma scenario based on Ohm's law. Both the proximity- and the Ohmic effect can enhance the energy loss of intense beams in dense matter, which are also summarized as the beam-density effect. This finding is useful for the stopping power estimation of intense beams and significant to fast ignition fusion driven by intense ion beams.

In this work, we investigate the resonant contributions of $K_0^*(1430)$ and $K_0^*(1950)$ in the three-body $B_{(s)}\to D_{(s)}K\pi$ within the perturbative QCD approach. The form factor $F_{k\pi}(s)$ are adopted to describe the nonperturbative dynamics of the S-wave $K\pi$ system. The branching ratios of all concerned decays are calculated and predicted to be in the order of $10^{-10}$ to $10^{-5}$. The ratio $R$ of branching fractions between $B^0\to \bar{D}^0 K_0^{*0}(1430) \to \bar{D}^0K^+\pi^-$ and $B_s^0 \to \bar{D}^0 \bar{K}_0^{*0}(1430)\to \bar{D}^0K^-\pi^+$ are predicted to be 0.0552, which implies the discrepancy for the LHCb measurements. We expect that the predictions in this work can be tested by the future experiments, especially, to resolve $R$ ratio discrepancy.

We compute for the first time the next-to-leading-order QCD corrections to the $\bar B_{(s)} \to D_{(s)}^{(\ast)}$ form factors at large hadronic recoil. Both the charm-quark-mass and the strange-quark-mass dependent pieces can generate the leading-power contributions to these form factors. Including further various power-suppressed contributions, we perform the combined fits of the considered form factors to both our large-recoil theory predictions and the lattice QCD results, thus improving upon the previous determinations of the lepton-flavour-universality ratios ${\cal R} (D^{(\ast)})$ significantly., Comment: 6 pages plus Supplemental Material, 3 figures, 1 table, 2 ancillary files

We improve QCD calculations of the $B_{d, s} \to \pi, K$ form factors at large hadronic recoil by implementing the next-to-leading-logarithmic resummation for the obtained leading-power light-cone sum rules in the soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) framework. Additionally, we endeavour to investigate a variety of the subleading-power contributions to these heavy-to-light form factors at ${\cal O}(\alpha_s^0)$, by including the higher-order terms in the heavy-quark expansion of the hard-collinear quark propagator, by evaluating the desired effective matrix element of the next-to-leading-order term in the ${\rm SCET_{I}}$ representation of the weak transition current, by taking into account the off-light-cone contributions of the two-body heavy-quark effective theory matrix elements as well as the three-particle higher-twist corrections from the subleading bottom-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes, and by computing the twist-five and twist-six four-body higher-twist effects with the aid of the factorization approximation. Having at our disposal the SCET sum rules for the exclusive $B$-meson decay form factors, we further explore in detail numerical implications of the newly computed subleading-power corrections by employing the three-parameter model for both the leading-twist and higher-twist $B$-meson distribution amplitudes. Taking advantage of the customary Bourrely-Caprini-Lellouch parametrization for the semileptonic $B_{d, s} \to \pi, K$ form factors, we then determine the correlated numerical results for the interesting series coefficients, by carrying out the simultaneous fit of the exclusive $B$-meson decay form factors to both the achieved SCET sum rule predictions and the available lattice QCD results., Comment: 74 pages, 15 figures

We report on charge state measurements of laser-accelerated carbon ions in the energy range of several MeV penetrating a dense partially ionized plasma. The plasma was generated by irradiation of a foam target with laser-induced hohlraum radiation in the soft X-ray regime. We used the tri-cellulose acetate (C$_{9}$H$_{16}$O$_{8}$) foam of 2 mg/cm$^{-3}$ density, and $1$-mm interaction length as target material. This kind of plasma is advantageous for high-precision measurements, due to good uniformity and long lifetime compared to the ion pulse length and the interaction duration. The plasma parameters were diagnosed to be T$_{e}$=17 eV and n$_{e}$=4 $\times$ 10$^{20}$ cm$^{-3}$. The average charge states passing through the plasma were observed to be higher than those predicted by the commonly-used semiempirical formula. Through solving the rate equations, we attribute the enhancement to the target density effects which will increase the ionization rates on one hand and reduce the electron capture rates on the other hand. In previsous measurement with partially ionized plasma from gas discharge and z-pinch to laser direct irradiation, no target density effects were ever demonstrated. For the first time, we were able to experimentally prove that target density effects start to play a significant role in plasma near the critical density of Nd-Glass laser radiation.
