International audience; In this study we investigate conceptualization processes among university students in solving a problem involving concepts of eigenvalues and eigenvectors in a linear algebra course for engineering. In the pilot phase of the study, we examined a case study of two first-year linear algebra students and analyzed the data through the theory of instrumental genesis in a dynamic geometry paper-and-pencil environment.
