Prosthetic care for mandibular atrophy has raised many difficult problems, particularly in the most severe cases. The solution to most of these problems lies in the use of osteointegrated implants. Good results were obtained by using a small number of implants associated with adjustable overdenture prostheses or, alternatively, by using a larger number of implants (5 or 6) associated with a screw fixed prosthesis with posterior cantilever. Cantilever prostheses can provide support for the mental foramen zones and the posterior zones of the mandibular body where bone resorption is important after application of adjustable plates to the fibromucosa.

Cementoblastoma is a benign odontogenic tumor of mesenchymal origin. It usually presents as a distinct lesion with characteristic radiographic and histopathologic appearances. The tumor is intimately associated with the roots of teeth which are usually located in the posterior mandible. The purpose of this report is to describe a case of cementoblastoma and discuss the clinical, histopathological and therapeutic aspects of this tumor.

A case of acinous cell carcinoma localized in the retromolar minor salivary glands was observed in a 29-year-old man. The patient had noted a tumoural formation of about 1 cm in diameter for one year before consultation. After wide surgical exeresis, the patient was followed regularly.

The authors propose their experience about 6 cases of chronic dislocation of the temporo-mandibular joint. They underline the part of edentulous status as a predisposing factor also that of the anatomopathological injuries of the dislocated joint. According to the literature, they insist about the importance of surgery to set the dislocation, that in association with a temporal aponevrosis flap and occlusal adjustment, accompanied by immediate postoperative rehabilitation.

The architectural and structural cephalometric analysis described by Delaire gives indications on the basal and dental malocclusions. The study of the tendencies of the cranial base is extremely important but often not taken in consideration. In effect there are many factors that can predispose to alignments of the jaws to be considered correct even if C3 and CF1 are not in the norm. The Authors evaluate those factors and put them in the correct frame.

Mandibular condylar fractures are frequent traumatic events which, if not properly treated, can develop dysfunctional and degenerative aspects. The treatment has the two goals of maintaining the correct mandibular movements and of sustaining the potential of condylar growth in young patients. The CMS (Computerized Mandibular Scanner) analysis showed the efficacy of functional therapy in condylar fractures.

The clinical and histopathological features of two cases of botryoid odontogenic cyst are reported. The lesion is an uncommon variant of the lateral periodontal cyst and differs from this with regard to the histopathological features and the biological behaviour.

"Stylalgia" or "Eagle's syndrome" is a cervico-facial pain caused by mineralization of stylohioid complex. Anatomical, embryological, clinical and therapeutical features of the syndrome are discussed and a case report is presented.

Among cystic lesions of maxilla the solitary bone cyst always raises diagnostic and etiopathogenic problems. Typically observed as single lesions in maxilla, reports have been published of multiple localizations. Similitudes with solitary cyst of long bones have even been underlined, but no reports exist in the literature of the double localization: maxillary and extra-maxillary. A young man presented mandibular and humeral lesions possessing characteristics of solitary bone cysts.

The pathogenesis and treatment of the long standing dislocation of the mandible is showed by the Authors. A case of four months duration in a young man is presented. The reduction was accomplished manually under intravenous anaesthesia and relaxant drug. By the means of a digital electromyography a survey of the masticatory muscle before and after reduction was done. The normalisation of masticatory function was closed followed by improvement of electromyographic results.

A case of osteomyelitis with a typical sequestrum of the alveolar bone, occurred three months after the extraction of the corresponding tooth, is reported. Although the pathologic process is related with the extraction, it was not possible to clear up any well-known pathogenetic mechanism which are described in the literature.

The use of a soft tissue retractor during surgery of the superior impacted wisdom tooth is described. The right placement of the soft tissue retractor prevents the displacement of the avulsed tooth within the soft tissue of the cheek and of the pterygo-maxillary fossa. An additional advantage is in creating a good visual surgical field.

The relationships between wisdom tooth and headache have been rarely studied. The aim of this paper was to follow 13 patients, which suffered with idiopathic headache, after extraction of impacted maxillary wisdom tooth. The authors separated in two group the patients on the basis of a different anatomic site of pain. Patients with bilateral headache or monolateral headache without preferable anatomic site did not respond positively to the extractions. On the other hand the group of patients with monolateral headache or bilateral headache with preferable anatomic site obtained an improvement after the extraction of the maxillary homolateral wisdom tooth.
