The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of different stakeholders on the environmental impacts of cruise ship activity in the port of Roatan, Honduras, as an activity that has an impact on the region’s blue economy. A descriptive qualitative research design was applied, with 30 people directly related to the cruise ship activity participating in the study. Data collection was carried out through structured interviews with pre-codes based on Green Marine Management performance indicators. Conventional content analysis was used to analyze the verbal data. From the analysis of the data, conclusions were drawn that there is a generalized perception of the fundamental role in the control and assurance of the environmental impact of the maritime authorities; however, there is evidence of a lack of specialization in the areas of traceability, which could have an impact on the ecosystem and the health of the population, showing a lack of leadership in the articulation of stakeholders.

Cilj ovog rada je detaljan prikaz luksuznog broda Scenic Eclipse i odabir eksploatacijskih zahtjeva na izbor materijala i tehnologija izrade kod polarnih kruzera. Scenic Eclipse je luksuzni brod koji se proizvodi u Hrvatskoj koji podiže putovanja s 5 zvjezdica na potpuno novu razinu. Slikovito je prikazan unutranji i vanjski dio broda. U radu je proveden pregled zahtjeva pravila za dimenzioniranje konstrukcijskih elemenata te su odabrani najpogodniji materijali za izradu dijelova luksuznog broda. The aim of this thesis is a detailed presentation of the luxury ship Scenic Eclipse and the selection of exploitation requirements for the choice of materials and manufacturing technology for polar cruisers. Scenic Eclipse is a luxury ship built in Croatia that takes 5-star travel to a whole new level. The interior and exterior of the ship are vividly depicted. The paper reviewed the requirements of the rules for dimensioning structural elements and selected the most suitable materials for making parts of a luxury ship.

U radu je opisan brod i električna energija na brodu. Objašnjeni su pojmovi električne energije, izvora i potrošača električne energije na brodu. Zatim su pojašnjeni svi potrošači električne energije koji mogu postojati na nekom brodu. Posebno su prikazani potrošači električne energije na vrlo popularnom, najvećem kruzeru na svijetu koji se zove Symphony of the Seas. This paper describes the ship and the electricity on the ship. The concepts of electricity, sources and consumers of electricity on board are explained. All electricity consumers that may exist on a ship are then clarified. Electricity consumers are especially shown on a very popular, largest cruise ship in the world called the Symphony of the Seas.

Статья посвящена вопросам изучения железных кораблекрушений ХХ в. на примере исследований крейсера Черноморского флота «Червона Украина». Помимо важности проведения архивных изысканий, комплексное изучение кораблекрушений включает также проведение полевых подводных исследований. Анализируя историю данного корабля, авторы приходят к выводу о важности их изучения и сохранения остатков крейсера в качестве выявленного объекта культурного наследия., The article is devoted to the study of iron shipwrecks of the ХХ century on the example of studies of the cruiser of the Black Sea Fleet «Chervona Ukraine». A comprehensive study of shipwrecks also includes conducting field underwater research in addition to the importance of conducting archival research. Analyzing the history of this ship, the author comes to the conclusion about the importance of studying them and preserving the remains of the cruiser as identified objects of cultural heritage.

This article aim to clarify the origin of the crosses made of stone spread all over the Spanish geography. These elements were considered as artistic elements and had an simbolic, social and cultural importance. Christian doctrine employed the symbol of the cross in order to christianize certain places or items belonging to former pagan cults. Christianity placed crosses on dolmens, menhirs, paths, bridges, fountains and mountains, with or without pedestal, made either of wood or stone, with different forms and features.¿Cómo nacen las cruces monumentales que nosotros conocemos? El artículo que nos ocupa pretende dar a conocer el origen de las cruces de piedra que vemos distribuidas por toda la geografía española, consideradas todas ellas elementos artísticos con una fuerte carga simbólica, social y cultural. La doctrina cristiana, utilizó primero el signo de la cruz para la consagración de lugares o elementos pertenecientes a antiguos cultos paganos y más tarde, de forma material, la situó en estos puntos (sobre dólmenes, menhires, miliarios; en los caminos, puentes, fuentes o montes), con o sin pedestal, construida de madera o de piedra, con diferentes formas y características.

本稿の主人公は日本のために造られた、19世紀末から20世紀初頭にかけて当時世界最強或いは最速を誇った英国製大型艦船-具体的には軍艦-である。日英関係の産物である、これらの船たちをある社会通念に基づき象徴的機能を持つ「記号」として解釈すれば、或いは複数の記号性の束としての有機的な「テクスト」として解釈すれば、この時代の日英両国間の政治的通商的関係はどのように切り取ることが出来るだろうか。古代ヘルメス思想においても現代の記号論においても共通して、テクストは「開かれた世界」であり、「それを解釈する者は無限の相互関係を発見することが出来る」(エーコ、1993)のであるが、本稿の目的は最終的に「開かれた世界」としての船たちが日英両国にとって持っていた存在の意味を比較的自由に解釈することである。そのためにはある一定の歴史的事実の再検証が必要となり、第1節と第2節はそのために割かれることとなる。第3節はそれにのっとった記号論的考察である。, Why was the Imperial Japanese Navy so successful in the Battle of Tsushima in 1905, which has been described as one of the most decisive naval battles in history? In this paper, Armstrong's battleships and cruisers for the Imperial Japanese Navy are interpreted as non-verbal 'signs' and 'texts' (cf. Els caixons medixen 36 m d'eslora, 12.6 m de mànega i 15 m de puntal., [EN] The present Bachelor Thesis is about a basic project to build an offshore cruise terminal in Benidorm Bay (Alicante), in a 31 m depth zone. The construction is composed of floating reinforced concrete caissons creating a perimeter which is filled with soil in order to form an esplanade. These caissons are supported by a berm at 12 m depth. That estructure provides breakwater conditions and allows for docking cruisers up to 234 m length and 7.1 m draught. Caissons measure 36 m length, 12.6 m width and 15 m depth.

This paper describes the conceptual study of a nuclear powered blended wing body aircraft for the cruiser/feeder concept. According to this radically new aviation paradigm, large transport aircraft (cruisers) carry passengers over long distances, while remaining airborne for very long periods. Smaller aircraft (feeders) take off from local airports, intercept the cruiser, dock and enable in-flight exchange of passengers and supplies. Preliminary studies indicated that cruiser concepts based on engines burning kerosene would be too heavy and feeders would need to operate also as tankers. Propelling the cruiser with a nuclear power source would yield very high efficiency parameters, even if the weight of the system would result higher due to the required reactor shielding. The blended wing body configuration was selected both for its potential advantages in terms of aerodynamic and structural efficiency, as well as for the use flexibility of its internal volume, necessary to integrate power plants and shielding, accommodate 1000 passengers and host the loading/unloading station for in-flight payload exchange. The daring nature of the proposed solution is compatible to the foreseen entry into service date, which is set for the last part of this century. The peculiar nature of the aircraft under consideration has required a somehow different conceptual design approach, than generally used for conventional passenger transport aircraft. Apart from the inherent complexity related to the design of such a novel and integrated configuration as a blended wing body, the typical design approach based on the use of simple performance equations and statistics to achieve a first estimation of the main weight contributors was of little use in this case. From one side, the fuel mass used to perform the mission is just negligible; from the other, a method was necessary to account for the weight of the radiation shielding, which is a significant contribution to the overall aircraft weight. Rather than in the numerical results of the sizing process, the value of the design work described in this paper should be found in the very design approach and the preliminary ideas for integrating the passenger docking system and the nuclear power plant.

As in the tourism as a whole, the cruise industry has been acting in a contradictory movement facing the economic and financial tendencies of Portugal, mostly because of the positive indicators, the arrival of more and bigger luxury cruise ships to the principal maritime ports, or the construction of new terminals, as a consequence of the activity increase. Nowadays, the weight of the tourism achieves more and more expression in Portugal and in 2012 around 5,7% of the GDP came from tourism receipts (WTTC). The subsector of cruises is seen by the principal entities related to the sea with considerable potential to contribute to the growth of exportation: “The cruise tourism has been revealing one of the most dynamic tourism segments, presenting good levels of growth, year by year” (PwC, 2012). One of the most common and efficient ways to evaluate the tourism development is through the tourists’ feedback. As the efforts are driven to them, they are the ideal to evaluate and corroborate what the best has been made in the country in relation to the tourism activity. In research, “Satisfaction” is one of the most used “non-tourism keywords” in the cruise sector (Papathanassis & Beckmann, 2011). Through linear regression (Galton, 1894; Pearson, 1930) applied in a questionnaire conducted nearby the Port of Lisbon, it was studied the international passengers’ satisfaction and their behavioral intentions, such as intention to return and to recommend Portugal. Nos últimos anos tem sido notória a crescente abordagem dos media sobre o turismo de cruzeiros. Tal como no turismo como um todo, a indústria dos cruzeiros tem actuado num movimento contraditório à tendência económico-financeira de Portugal, maioritariamente devido aos seus indicadores positivos, quer pela chegada de mais e maiores navios de luxo aos principais portos marítimos, ou pela construção, como consequência do aumento da atividade, de novos terminais. Hoje em dia, o peso da indústria do turismo tem ganho cada vez maior expressão, sendo que em 2012 cerca de 5,7% do PIB foi gerado com receitas do turismo (WTTC). O subsector dos cruzeiros é visto pelas principais personalidades ligadas ao mar com um grande potencial para a contribuição do aumento das exportações: “O turismo de cruzeiros tem-se vindo a revelar um dos segmentos turísticos mais dinâmicos, apresentando bons níveis de crescimento, ano após ano” (PwC, 2012). Um das formas mais comuns e eficientes de se avaliar o desenvolvimento do turismo é através da opinião dos próprios turistas. Como o esforço é dirigido a eles, são os ideais para avaliar e corroborar o que de bem se tem feito no país em prol da atividade turística. Na área da investigação, “Satisfação” é uma das palavras mais utilizadas no sector dos cruzeiros (Papathanassis & Beckmann, 2011). Cruiseri stvaraju velike količine crnih i svih otpadnih voda, kaljužnih voda, raznovrsnoga krutog i opasnog otpada te balastnih voda, zbog toga neprestano postoji potencijalna opasnost od njihova ispuštanja u brodski okoliš. U ovom radu prikazani su svi oblici onečišćenja mora i zraka što pritom nastaju. Na temelju cost benefit analize izražena je visina troška onečišćenja koju uzrokuju cruiseri u vlasništvu stranih kompanija, a koje oni ne snose. Također, kroz prikazane analize prometa međunarodnog cruising-turizma, u ovom radu procjenjuje se i njegov utjecaj na gospodarstvo, društvo i okolinu te stavlja naglasak na potrebu uvrštavanja eksternog troška u trošak prometovanja cruisera kako bi se prema načelu „onečišćivač plaća“, stanovništvo RH rasteretilo plaćanja tih troškova., Cruising ships generate a number of waste streams, including sewage, graywater, hazardous wastes, oily bilge water, ballast water and solid waste which poses a threat of discharges to the marine environment. The main goal of this paper is to presents all aspects of marine pollution as a result of cruise exploitation. On the basis of cost benefit analysis, the cost of the pollution caused by cruisers is calculated,with an emphasis on cruisers owned by foreign companies, that do not pay the costs. Another aim of this paper is to evaluate the impact of international cruise traffic on economy, society and environment. It is suggested that external cost be included in cruise traffic calculations. That way, the population of Croatia would be free from paying the cost, and the „polluter pays“ principle would be applied.

MBA Professional Report The purpose of this MBA Project is to review the current budgeting model and existing ship's Operating Target (OPTAR) data for fiscal year (FY) 2006 and 2007. The scope of analysis is limited to the Ticonderoga Class Cruiser (CG) 1B1B OPTAR other consumable (SO) account. The objective of this paper is to analyze the operating costs supporting the funding allocation method used by Commander, Naval Surface Force (CNSF) in support of his stakeholders and to identify and evaluate the underlying costs and cost drivers in relation to each cruiser's location in the Fleet Response Plan (FRP). An analysis was performed by fiscal year, expense element, federal supply group (FSG) and FRP phase to find outliers or anomalies with regard to ships expenditures. 1 ] ÖZET Araştırmanın temel amacı kotra yapım teknolojisinde en son gelişmeleri kapsayan ' 'West - Epoxy Laminasyon Sistemini,, Türkiye 'de tanıtmak ve üretim tekniklerini uygulayarak bu endüstri dalında çağdaş bir gelişmeye öncülük etmektir. Bu amaçla Hacettepe Üniversitesi Ağaç İşleri Endüstri Mühendisliği Bölümü'nde West - Epoxy laminasyon sistemiyle inşaa edilen bir kotranın işlem basamakları ve üretim detayları baştan sona kadar ayrıntılı bir şekilde araştırılmış ve uygulanmıştır. Oldukça karmaşık ve sabit pozisyonlu bir üretim şekli o lan kotra yapımında, üretim akış analizlerinde yapılacak işlerde en az birkaç hamle sonrasının düşünülmesi zorunluluğu ortaya çıkmaktadır. Zira tekne yapımında bütün işlemler birbirine bağlı ve bütünleyici özellik taşımaktadır. Laminasyon sistemiyle tekne inşaasında iyi sonuç alabilmek için, yapıştırma kurallarının ve laminasyon siste minin çok iyi bilinmesi gereklidir. Bunun için, ilk olarak kullanılan West-epoxy tutkalının özellikleri açıklandıktan sonra, yapıştırmada dikkat edilmesi gereken noktalar ile laminasyon hakkında ayrıntılı bilgi verilmiştir. SUMMARY The main objects of this study are to present and explain ' 'West-epoxy lamination system' ' including the last developments and to get a nontemporary developing started in this industrial branch by carrying out production techniques of this system. From this points of view, processing chart and production details of a yacht which will be constructed by west-epoxy lamination system have been studied and applicated. Yacht building is a production system with complex a fixed-position product. Depending upon characteristics of this production system, all processes should be planned according to the processing chart by considering consecutive processes because of holding up successive and integral characteristics of all processes of yacht building. To get the result from yacht building by lamination systems, bonding rules and lamination techniques should be known thoroughly. For this reason, firstly, it had been given detailed knowledges on bonding and lamination techniques after explained specifications of ''West- epoxy''.
