Mayo), collected as part of the Schools' Folklore Scheme, 1937-1938 under the supervision of teacher Seosamh Ó Cuanaigh., Béaloideas / Fhathaigh, Colette Ní -- The village of Johnstown was owned by a gentleman named John, and when he was dying he requested the village be called after him and it is called to this day Johnstown. / Fhathaigh, Colette Ní -- There is a man in our village named Pat Byrne and he is a weaver. / Dhallán, Máire Cáit Ní -- Once a man named Pat Moore dreamed that he and his neighbour went to a certain spot in our field and they got a pot of gold after digging for some time. / Kearns, Patrick -- There is a sandpit in our field and this sandpit is called Clas an tSagairt and it is said that priests hid in it in the Penal days. / Kerins, P. -- One night as my grandmother's father was coming home across the fields from his brother's house he saw something bright like a coal of fire in the middle of the field. / Kerins, P. -- Long ago the people lived in a more homely way than nowadays. / Kerins, P. -- Three hundred years ago there was a battle in the village of Redford. / Walsh, Mary -- There was a church on the righthand side of the road as you are going into Michael Loftus' field / Molloy, Pat -- Once there were a man and his wife living in Levallyroe.
