The article deals with the issue of crisis management in a given organization and it is focused on the creation of crisis scenarios and plans. Crisis scenarios and plans are the way how to prevent, prepare and resolve a potential crisis before it occurs. The first part of the article deals with theoretical background and literature research focused on crisis and crisis management. The second part of this article is focused on a specific company, its description, problems, threats, and weaknesses. The rest of the article comes with a reaction and solution for all mentioned threats that were determined and consulted by the company management. Created process of crisis management can be used also by other companies that have the same work plan. 本研究は，精神障害者の地域生活支援におけるクライシス・プラン実践の実態を明らかにすることを目的に，精神科病院，相談支援事業所，保健所のソーシャルワーカーを対象に実態調査を実施した．その結果，クライシス・プランは専門職個人の判断から支援に用いられており，未だに一般精神保健医療福祉の現場に普及していない現状が明らかとなった．そうした中で，クライシス・プランはリスクマネジメントに偏って作成されている状況にあった．そして，クライシス・プランは日常的に当事者自らのセルフモニタリングや支援者のモニタリングで活用されていた．一方で，病状悪化時には事前の合意をもとにした権利擁護のために活用されていない可能性があることを指摘した．, The purpose of this study is to clarify the present state of crisis plan practice in the community life support of the people with psychiatric disabilities, and surveyed social workers working in mental health welfare.As a result, crisis plans were developed for the support from the recognition of the professional individual, and the present state which has not yet spread to the field of mental health welfare was clarified. The crisis plan was prepared with an emphasis on risk management. There were using on daily basis for self-monitoring by the parties themselves and monitoring of professionals. The other hand, there is a possibility that it is not used for the advocacy based on advance agreement in the utilization on the symptoms state deterioration.

Purpose: This project aimed to acknowledge the entrepreneurship program in managing human resources in the pandemic era in Indonesia. The essay to understand the entrepreneurship activities in managing human resources in the pandemic era is assumed to have a close connection with acknowledging the entrepreneurship programs in the outbreak of coronavirus 2019 in Indonesia. Methodology: A serial of online information searching and literature review sessions was conducted. After data was gathered, the analysis processing using a qualitative phenomenological approach and profound interpretations were done to see if the research question's reliability and validity were met. Findings: The existing literature on understanding the entrepreneurship program in managing human resources in the pandemic and crisis era of the Covid-19 showed that there are five entrepreneurship activities that were shown relatively significant business program in managing human resources since outbreaks 2020. Finally, we successfully outlined the five related programs as follows: 1) Creating a business crisis plan, 2) More care and services, 3) be among the community, 4) Community relations, 5) Creative thinking endure, 6) Be adjustable. Originality: Direct insights into the entrepreneurship practices, policymaking, and academic business development are beneficial in creating the next entrepreneurship program plan, especially the strategy to manage human resources with an entrepreneurial role in the pandemic crisis. Research implication: Further project is needed to anticipate the next economic crisis and social-political changes that impacted economic development in Indonesia.

U ovom se diplomskog radu obrađuje tematika kriznog menadžmenta na različitim područjima ljudskog djelovanja i rada te se raspravlja o važnosti implementacije kriznog plana u poslovanje poslovnog subjekta ili organizacije. Obilježje je takvog razdoblja, razdoblja krize, to što zahtjeva timski rad i dobru organizaciju te postojanje kriznog plana. Najvažniju ulogu ipak imaju menadžment i zaposlenici sa svojim vještinama te njihova sposobnost u uvođenju inovacija kojim reagiraju na krizne situacije uzrokovane najčešće vanjskim činiteljima jer su puno zahtjevniji od unutarnjih zbog toga što su nepredvidljiviji i aktualna su pojava današnjice. Kroz studije slučaja u turizmu i kreativnim industrijama odabrani su poslovni subjekti koji imaju različit cilj poslovanja i koji su kroz kreativne vještine svojih zaposlenika uspjeli iskoristiti ranjivu situaciju za jačanje kredibiliteta. This masters thesis deals with the topic of crisis-management in various areas of human activity and work and discusses the importance of implementing a crisis plan in the business of a business entity or organization. It is characteristic of such a period, a period of crisis, that it requires teamwork and good organization and the existence of a crisis plan. The most important role is played by management and employees with their skills and their ability to innovate to respond to crisis situations caused most often by external factors because they are much more demanding than internal because they are more unpredictable and current events. Through case studies in tourism and creative industries, business entities have been selected that have different business objectives and that have managed to use the vulnerable situation to strengthen their credibility through the creative skills of their employees. This master is focuses on the external causes of the crisis.

This article draws attention to the social context and working methods in crisis management. Based on 1000 interviews with business leaders in Swedish small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs), we analyze crisis management in practice and ask: What social contexts do business leaders use in crisis management, and what working methods do they rely on? Most companies in this study do not have any form of crisis group;rather, they deal with issues reactively as they occur. Few of the companies work continuously with a crisis plan and only slightly more than half of those that have crisis plans report that it has been helpful in dealing with the COVID‐19 situation. The study concludes that Swedish SMEs seem reliant upon a process that has an emerging nature whereby decisions are largely based on gut feeling. However, the companies in our sample that experienced a significant revenue decline due to the COVID‐19 situation report that they employ a more centralized and deductive approach with reports and documents as a basis for their work. The study contributes to a developed understanding of how crisis management works in practice. One major aim of this study is to determine how to manage crises in healthcare organizations most effectively. Another is to determine how to minimize the chances of disaster. I will analyze two cases to show the need for strong public relations and management in healthcare institutions. The first case is the handling of the Ebola patient by the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in 2014. The second is the leadership crisis at Broward Health Medical Center in 2016. The purpose of this research is to offer recommendations to healthcare organizations during crisis management by examining the possible impacts of crises on organizations. The findings of this study are important because they show the value of public relations to healthcare institutions. The analyses also show that if the two institutions had developed detailed crisis communication plans, their losses could easily have been mitigated. As I discussed in previous chapters, public relations can help a company create a public image and maintain public trust. However, because these two institutions lacked well-developed public relations departments, they faced problems. One major cause of problems during crises is poor communication or lack of communication. A public relations department can help in the formulation of a plan for communicating with the public before, during, and after a crisis. This can encourage the development of solutions faster than these institutions managed to do.

Aims To examine nursing students' stress and coping with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic through an ecological model of resilience. Specifically, to examine the relative contribution of different resilience levels in decreasing nursing students' strain symptoms: at the individual level, resilience trait; at the relational level, students' coping strategies; at the university level, nursing students' perceptions on their university's readiness to handle the virus outbreak; and at the national level, nursing students' trust in policymakers' decisions. Design The study used a cross-sectional design. Methods Undergraduate students of five universities were recruited via an electronic link sent to their emails during the first months of the COVID-19 outbreak: May-July 2020. Of them, 492 participants completed the research questionnaire. Results Hierarchical Regression Analysis revealed that nursing students' resilience, as a multi-level factor, decreased the students' level of strain symptoms above and beyond their stress levels and control variables. Specifically, the nursing students' trait resilience, perceptions of their university's positive response to the pandemic and trust in their national policymakers were negatively associated with their strain symptoms. Conversely, disengagement-in-emotion coping strategies was positively associated with the students' strain symptoms. Conclusions Nursing students' resilience should be seen as a flexible resource that can be developed and influenced by their academic and clinical training, and by the intentions and actions of their university and the nursing administration at the Ministry of Health (MOH). Impact The findings call for the nursing administration at the MOH and for the university deans and department heads to prepare in advance a crisis plan that could be rapidly and effectively implemented when needed. Furthermore, topics such as developing flexible coping strategies should be integrated into the nursing curricula. These would allow students to prepare and cope better with adversity in their routine and in times of crisis.

Background Many types of intervention exist for suicide attempters, but they tend not to sufficiently consider patient’s views. Aim To identify useful components of a previously evaluated intervention after a suicide attempt from the patient’s views and to better understand the process of recovery. Method Forty-one interviews with suicide attempters were qualitatively analysed. Views of participants (i) on the components of the intervention (nurse case-management, joint crisis plan, meetings with relatives/network and follow-up calls) and (ii) their recovery were explored. The material was analysed by means of thematic analysis with a deductive-inductive approach. Results Participants valued the human and professional qualities of the nurse case-manager, and appreciated follow-up calls and meetings. However, their views diverged regarding for instance frequency of phone calls, or disclosing information or lack thereof. Interpersonal relationship, suicide attempters’ own resources and life changes emerged as core recovery factors. Discussion The study highlights the figure of an engaged clinician, with both professional and human commitment, aware that some suicide attempters put more emphasis on their own resources than on delivered health care. Conclusions Interventions should consider the clinician as the cornerstone of the tailored care valued by suicide attempters.

Background Questions have been raised regarding differences in the standards of care that patients receive when they are admitted to or discharged from in-patient units at weekends. Aims To compare the quality of care received by patients with anxiety and depressive disorders who were admitted to or discharged from psychiatric hospital at weekends with those admitted or discharged during the ‘working week’. Method Retrospective case-note review of 3795 admissions to in-patient psychiatric wards in England. Quality of care received by people with depressive or anxiety disorders was compared using multivariable regression analyses. Results In total, 795 (20.9%) patients were admitted at weekends and 157 (4.8%) were discharged at weekends. There were minimal differences in quality of care between those admitted at weekends and those admitted during the week. Patients discharged at weekends were less likely to be given sufficient notification (48 h) in advance of being discharged (OR = 0.55, 95% CI 0.39–0.78), to have a crisis plan in place (OR = 0.65, 95% CI 0.46–0.92) or to be given medication to take home (OR = 0.45, 95% CI 0.30–0.66). They were also less likely to have been assessed using a validated outcome measure (OR = 0.70, 95% CI 0.50–0.97). Conclusions There is no evidence of a ‘weekend effect’ for patients admitted to psychiatric hospital at weekends, but the quality of care offered to those who were discharged at weekends was relatively poor, highlighting the need for improvement in this area.

While institutions have crisis management plans, they are often focused on face-to-face students and the physical campus. In this case study, researchers investigated the crisis response for online students at one institution after Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston, Texas, area in the fall of 2017. While face-to-face students were not severely impacted, more than a thousand online students were in the impact zone and in danger of dropping out. With financial resources and student retention at risk, campus leaders approved a strategy to delay online courses for several weeks. This study examines the experiences of the front-line staff who implemented the plan. Findings suggest that institutions need a proactive crisis plan for online students that includes understanding where this population resides, how different campus units can provide support in a crisis, who should lead the crisis response, and what kind of care can be offered to the front-line responders during the crisis period.

My diploma thesis deals with the preparedness of primary schools for an armed attack in the city of Benešov. The work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part contains information that I have processed from available literature, professional websites and professional joutnals. The aim of the work was to analyze the preparedness of primary schools in the city of Benešov within the project "Armed attacker at school". In my work I also focused on the USB strategy and analyzed specific situations that may occur in the school environment. The theoretical part contains information about the structure of the education system, the rights and obligations of students and legal representatives of minors. In my work I also focused on who is a mass and serial killer or what is the amok syndrome and who is an active shooter. The last chapter of my work is the area of police psychology. In the practical part is the data that I processed from the planned external audit within the project "Armed attacker at school". The audit at three primary schools in the city of Benešov took place in 2019 and focused on various branches of education. My results show that the first of the primary schools examined is at a very poor level of safety and its founder or school management should take immediate remedial action. The second and third schools are at a good safety level. If the connection of pupils with the public at lunch time is resolved, it can be said that these schools are at a very good level of safety. The results from the practical part can serve as feedback for the city of Benešov, as well as for the staff of the studied primary schools.

The topic of the bachelor thesis was chosen mainly because the crisis management system is very often faced with a lack of professionally trained and experienced staff. In the last few years, there has also been a significant shift away from planning crisis management, especially at central level. Whether the flood situation has been addressed and complianced with the legislation. The final thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into four basic subchapters. The first one aims to acquaint the reader with the methodology. The second part analyzes the role of management and crisis management of its components, the process and role of emergency planning and related legislation. The last subchapter deals with crisis management, its bodies, related legislation and crisis planning. The practical part of the thesis consists of a flood, situation of the self-governing unit. The results of the work should serve to practical life.

Background: Self-management comprises knowledge, behavior, activities and resources providing people with bipolar disorder (BD) control over fluctuating mood and activity-patterns. The ` Self-management and Dialogue in Bipolar Disorder' project entailed the tailoring of an online personal health record (PHR) originally designed for the chronically ill to monitor condition and share information with their clinician to people with BD (PHRBD). The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility, utility and user-experiences of participants with BD, relatives, and healthcare professionals who worked with the PHR-BD.Methods: Post-test online closed-and open ended questionnaires were used to collect information on utility, and user-experiences with PHR-BD. A pre-posttest design to evaluate clinical effects on quality of life, empowerment, symptom reduction, changes in mood and activity, and illness burden and severity at baseline and at 12-months follow-up.Results: Sixty-six participants with BD logged in at baseline. At study endpoint thirty-nine participants with BD, eleven professionals and one family caregiver filled out the evaluations. No significant differences in the clinical outcomes from baseline were found. Qualitative evaluations showed a frequent utility of the mood chart modules, improved communication between clinician and participant with BD and, increased insight in influencing factors of mood fluctuations.Limitations: Small convenience sample, no controls.Conclusions: The option to alternate the interface from a prospective to a retrospective mood chart, and integration with the personal crisis plan was considered to be of added value in self-managing BD. The findings of this study will guide the future implementation of the PHR-BD.

This article focuses on the field of international crisis communication, whereby multinationals and their expatriate staff respond to crisis events in international and/or multicultural contexts. The field of international crisis communication is at or near a state of crisis due to lack of research and, more importantly, methods useful for practitioners. ‘Glocalization’—which is used successfully in fields as diverse as marketing, education, theology, and others as an effective and expedient way of leveraging global capabilities to meet local demands—is proposed as one method for addressing this need pragmatically. Using glocalization for the internationalizing of crisis communication benefits practitioners and researchers alike in a way that avoids imposing Western frameworks and interpretations onto non-Western crisis situations. We demonstrate the approach with a case study involving multinational McDonald’s Corporation and its foreign subsidiary, McDonald’s Japan.

Purpose– The hospitality industry is facing different types of crises resulting from both naturally occurring disasters, and man-made ones such as earthquakes and terrorism. In the case of the Egyptian hotel operations, Crises present extraordinary conditions needing more than working to decrease the negative effects of crises through prompt decisions, but also further efforts including pre-crises as well as post-crises planning to minimize non-desired influences and maximize the benefits of the situation. Crisis management strategies are developed and implemented to make sure that the hotel operation survives the process of crisis. The hotel operation may need a thorough rehabilitation after recovery from a crisis. So that, the study will concentrate on the strategies of crises management through three axes each one of them represents one stage of the strategic approach of crises management. The strategic approach of crisis management includes three steps that start with the pre-crisis stage to develop a plan for potential crises. The second step will be the implementation of the prepared plans and scenarios during the crisis, and the last one will be for the rehabilitation and restructuring after recovery of the crisis without decreasing or minimizing in hotel's quality standardization. Design/methodology/approach–Questionnaires for the top management and staff will be used in this research in order to gain the desired data about the strategic crisis management process. The collected data will be statistically analyzed by using different measures including descriptive ones, such as frequencies, Mean, and standard deviation as well as cross tab. Research limitations/implications - the researcher preferred to focus on the most successful modern strategies in the face of crises agreed by the researcher. It can be applied to the current study community, which is as follows: - (changing path strategy) - (crises fragmentation strategy) - (containment crisis strategy) - (exhausting crisis strategy) - (reserve mobilization strategy) The questionnaire was designed to capture information about the research to meet the needed objectives. AimsSelf-harm is a common presentation to acute hospitals, associated with increased risk of completed suicide. Safety plans are increasingly recommended to help patients recognise and prevent escalation of self-harm behaviours.This project aimed to improve quality and documentation of safety planning for patients admitted at an acute general hospital due to self-harm, who were assessed by Liaison Psychiatry. We aimed to increase the number of patients given written safety plans on discharge by 50%.MethodThe PDSA cycle model of quality improvement was used. A retrospective audit of clinical records was conducted over 3 months to establish baseline documentation of safety planning (n = 51). A template for a self-harm crisis plan, used in other areas of the Trust, was adopted, to be adapted to each patient. A leaflet for sources of crisis support and patient feedback form were developed and distributed to clinicians in the team. Data collection was repeated one month later (n = 48). The second set of interventions involved a training session for clinicians on developing safety plans in collaboration with patients, and a poster highlighting the process to be undertaken when discharging a patient admitted with self-harm.ResultFollowing initial interventions, 20% of patients had completed safety plans and 50% received advice, an increase of 20% and 40% respectively. The second PDSA cycle showed increase in numbers to 38% and 67% respectively.ConclusionCreating a crisis plan with a hospital-specific leaflet for the Liaison Psychiatry team increased the number of patients discharged with safety plans in place. 86% of patients who participated in safety-planning found the process helpful and felt likely to use the plan in future crises. This is an area of ongoing quality improvement which can be implemented in other hospitals to better equip patients with skills and support to reduce self-harm/suicide attempts.

The current study investigated the content of school crisis plans and perceptions of crisis preparedness among school staff in six public elementary schools. Surveys were administered to 72 teachers, administrators, and other school staff members measuring their perceptions of crisis preparedness and performance of activities related to crisis response (i.e., trainings, familiarity with crisis plans, etc.). Respondents indicated positive perceptions of preparedness for the occurrence of a crisis at each of their schools; however, they reported lower participation in preparedness activities and provided inconsistent answers on response procedures. Regression analyses found that reading the crisis plan was a significant predictor of feelings of preparedness for fire, death, suicide, and extreme weather events. Researchers additionally found that school crisis plans lacked many of the components recommended by best practice. These findings and implications for educators are discussed.

In March 2000 a fire broke out at the Royal Philips Electronics plant, damaging its supply of semiconductor chips. Nokia Corporation and Ericsson LM relied on these chips to produce their cell phones; together they received 40 percent of the plant's chip production. Both companies were about to release new cell phone designs that required the chips. At Nokia, word of the setback spread quickly up the chain of command. Nokia's team, which had a crisis plan in place, sprang into action. With an aggressive, multipronged strategy, Nokia avoided any cell phone production loss. In contrast, the low-level technician who received the information at Ericsson did not notify his supervisors about the fire until early April and had to scramble to locate new sources for the chips. This search delayed production and proved a fatal blow to Ericsson's independent production of mobile phones. Nokia's handling of its supply chain disruption provides a dramatic example of how a company's strategic risk management can alleviate financial disaster and lay the groundwork for success in the future. Objective To know what hospital managers and safety leaders in Ibero-American countries are doing to respond effectively to the occurrence of adverse events (AEs) with serious consequences for patients. Design Cross-sectional international study. Setting Public and private hospitals in Ibero-American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal and Spain). Participants A convenience sample of hospital managers and safety leaders from eight Ibero-American countries. A minimum of 25 managers/leaders from each country were surveyed. Interventions A selection of 37 actions for the effective management of AEs was explored. These were related to the safety culture, existence of a crisis plan, communication and transparency processes with the patients and their families, attention to second victims and institutional communication. Main Outcome Measure Degree of implementation of the actions studied. Results A total of 190 managers/leaders from 126 (66.3%) public hospitals and 64 (33.7%) private hospitals participated. Reporting systems, in-depth analysis of incidents and non-punitive approaches were the most implemented interventions, while patient information and care for second victims after an AE were the least frequent interventions. Conclusions The majority of these hospitals have not protocolized how to act after an AE. For this reason, it is urgent to develop and apply a strategic action plan to respond to this imperative safety challenge. This is the first study to identify areas of work and future research questions in Ibero-American countries.

Although minimized by expert evaluation, operative technique, and postoperative care, the extremely low risk of perioperative mortality following living kidney or liver donation will never be eliminated. Furthermore, anticipation of poor donor outcome may simultaneously be a source of anxiety for physicians and programs, and also be a circumstance for which they are unprepared. We conducted a national survey of U.S. transplant surgeons to understand experiences with and systemic preparedness for the event of a living donor death. Respondents represented 87 unique transplant programs (71 kidney and 16 liver donor programs). Perioperative deaths were rare, as expected. Although most respondents (N=57, 64% of total respondents; 88% of liver programs) reported being moderately to extremely concerned about a future living donor death at their institution, only 30 (33% of total program respondents) had a written plan available in the case of such an event. 63% of programs would find guidance and recommendations useful. To help address this gap, the American Society of Transplantation Live Donor Community of Practice (AST LDCOP) developed Living Donor Crisis Management Plan Talking Points suitable to guide crisis plan development at transplant programs.
