Abstract

The effect of the presence of resources to prevent domestic violence on the rate of intimate-partner homicides is assessed. In general, such resources have lowered homicide rates. However, resources that fail to significantly reduce potential victims' exposure to domestic violence may actually motivate retaliation violence and be counterproductive.
