- Abstract
Table is made from a circular piece of brass that has been hammered to create indentations along its edges. Forming the table legs are three rifle shells along with their projectiles, soldered together diagonally where they meet and again to the table. These shells appear to be .303-inch. Three bullet shells have been cut down to act as beer steins, while another rifle shell has been cut down diagonally to resemble a pitcher. Due to its size, appearance, and markings, this last one is likely an 8 mm Lebel rifle shell, used and manufactured by the French in World War I. The pitcher has a Verdun crest appliqué affixed to its side, which includes: a crown bearing the inscription "VERDUN" above a shield with a castle on it, along with small images that appear to be the Croix de Guerre and Legion of Honour medals. Metal handles have been soldered onto the steins and pitcher.
