1 La durée du travail : genèse rétrospective et mutations contemporaines 2 L'entrée en scène d'une nouvelle forme de catégorisation de la main-d'oeuvre : les travailleurs et les travailleuses assurant [...], Les mesures prises pour répondre à la crise sanitaire causée par la pandémie de COVID-19 ont entraîné une crise de l'emploi. D'une part, un nombre inédit de personnes salariées ont été mises à pied. D'autre part, l'organisation du travail de celles qui occupent toujours un emploi a connu des bouleversements, notamment sur le plan des temporalités professionnelles auxquelles celles-ci ont été assujetties. Les bouleversements causés par la pandémie ont introduit un brouillage accru des frontières entre les temps sociaux, c'est-à-dire le temps de travail et le temps hors travail, alors que plusieurs se sont retrouvés à devoir concilier leurs obligations professionnelles et familiales. Or, ces bouleversements interviennent dans un contexte préexistant de dégradation des conditions de travail causé par l'intensification et l'extensification du travail. Les auteures examinent dans quelle mesure le droit du travail en vigueur constitue un rempart utile pour faire face aux mutations des temporalités professionnelles constatées au cours de la pandémie et susceptibles d'être pérennisées. The response to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an employment crisis. On the one hand, an unprecedented number of employees have been laid off. On the other hand, how the work of those who are still employed is organized has undergone upheavals, particularly in terms of the professional temporalities to which they have been subjected. The upheavals caused by the pandemic have led to an increased blurring of the boundaries between social time, i.e., time spent on work and time spent not working, as many have found themselves having to reconcile their work and family obligations. These upheavals are taking place in a pre-existing context characterized by a deterioration of working conditions caused by the intensification and extensification of work. The authors examine the extent to which existing labour law is a useful bulwark against the changes in working time that have been observed during the pandemic and that are likely to be perpetuated. Las medidas adoptadas para responder a la crisis sanitaria provocada por la pandemia del COVID-19 han acarreado una crisis laboral. Por un lado, el despido de un numero sin precedentes de asalariados, y por otro, la organizacion laboral de aquellos que siguen trabajando, y que también ha sufrido trastornos, especficamente en el âmbito de las temporalidades profesionales a las que se han visto sometidos los trabajadores. Los trastornos provocados por la pandemia han causado que se distorsionen cada vez mâs los Umites entre los tiempos sociales, es decir, entre el tiempo de trabajo y el tiempo fuera del trabajo, mientras que muchos se han visto obligados a conciliar sus obligaciones profesionales y familiares. Ahora bien, estos trastornos ocurren en un contexto preexistente de deterioro de las condiciones laborales, causado por la intensificacion y la extensificacion del trabajo. Dietary treatment is important in management of type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, but uncertainty exists about the optimal diet. We randomized adults (n = 34) with glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) > 6.0% and elevated body weight (BMI > 25) to a very low-carbohydrate ketogenic (LCK) diet (n = 16) or a moderate-carbohydrate, calorie-restricted, low-fat (MCCR) diet (n = 18). All participants were encouraged to be physically active, get sufficient sleep, and practice behavioral adherence strategies based on positive affect and mindful eating. At 12 months, participants in the LCK group had greater reductions in HbA1c levels (estimated marginal mean (EMM) at baseline = 6.6%, at 12 mos = 6.1%) than participants in MCCR group (EMM at baseline = 6.9%, at 12 mos = 6.7%), p = .007. The San Joaquin Valley (SJV) of California has poor air quality, high rates of asthma, and high rates of obesity. Informational campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of the health impacts of poor air quality and promoting behavior change need to be tailored to the specific target audiences. The study examined perceptions of air quality, perceived health impacts, and methods of accessing information about air quality between Latinos and other groups in the SJV. Residents of the SJV (n = 744) where surveyed via one of three methods: community organizations (256), public locations (251), and an internet panel (237). The results suggest that people perceive the air quality in their region to be generally unhealthy, particularly for sensitive groups. The air quality is more likely to be reported as being unhealthy by people with health problems and less unhealthy by Latinos and people who report regularly exercising. Latinos are more likely to report working outdoors regularly, but also more likely to report being able to reduce their exposure if the air quality is unhealthy. The results report differences in informational sources about air quality, suggesting that informational campaigns should target high risk groups using a variety of media.

PurposeThe endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation pathway is responsible for the translocation of misfolded proteins across the endoplasmic reticulum membrane into the cytosol for subsequent degradation by the proteasome. To define the phenotype associated with a novel inherited disorder of cytosolic endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation pathway dysfunction, we studied a series of eight patients with deficiency of N-glycanase 1.MethodsWhole-genome, whole-exome, or standard Sanger sequencing techniques were employed. Retrospective chart reviews were performed in order to obtain clinical data.ResultsAll patients had global developmental delay, a movement disorder, and hypotonia. Other common findings included hypolacrima or alacrima (7/8), elevated liver transaminases (6/7), microcephaly (6/8), diminished reflexes (6/8), hepatocyte cytoplasmic storage material or vacuolization (5/6), and seizures (4/8). The nonsense mutation c.1201A>T (p.R401X) was the most common deleterious allele.ConclusionNGLY1 deficiency is a novel autosomal recessive disorder of the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation pathway associated with neurological dysfunction, abnormal tear production, and liver disease. The majority of patients detected to date carry a specific nonsense mutation that appears to be associated with severe disease. The phenotypic spectrum is likely to enlarge as cases with a broader range of mutations are detected.

TABLE DES MATIÈRES La réforme des dispositions sur le harcèlement psychologique dans la Loi sur les normes du travail: l'appel à une plus grande sensibilité au genre sera-t-il entendu? Par [...], en 2018, des amendements apportés à la Loi sur les normes du travail [ci-après <>] du Québec modifient la définition du harcèlement psychologique pour y inclure explicitement le harcèlement à caractère sexuel. Ils importent certains aspects d&apos;un paradigme juridique basé sur le droit à l&apos;égalité au régime de la LNT qui, jusqu&apos;alors, n&apos;était basé que sur le paradigme du droit à la dignité. En quoi ces amendements sont-ils susceptibles de bonifier le recours à l&apos;encontre du harcèlement psychologique pour les victimes de harcèlement sexuel? Cet article rapporte les résultats d&apos;une étude empirique des décisions (2004-2018) portant sur les plaintes pour harcèlement psychologique alors que les faits traduisent une situation de harcèlement sexuel. Il révèle que les amendements pallient certains obstacles rencontrés par les personnes qui portent plainte pour harcèlement psychologique mais que d&apos;autres risquent de persister, entraînant le rejet de plaintes même lorsque le harcèlement sexuel a été prouvé. Par ailleurs, l&apos;étude souligne quelques avantages de ce recours en comparaison avec celui de la Charte des droits et libertés de la personne: des délais plus courts pour le traitement des plaintes, ainsi que la possibilité de déposer en même temps une plainte à l&apos;encontre d&apos;un congédiement injuste ou d&apos;une pratique interdite en vertu de la LNT. Ils représentent également un appel du législateur à une plus grande sensibilité au genre dans la mise en oeuvre de la LNT par ces institutions. in 2018, amendments to Québec&apos;s Act Respecting Labour Standards modified the definition of psychological harassment to explicitly include sexual harassment. The amendments imported certain aspects of the right to equality under the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms into a labour standards regime that previously had been solely based on the right to dignity at work. To what extent might these amendments improve recourse for victims of sexual harassment at work when they file a complaint for psychological harassment? This article reports on an empirical study of decisions (2004-2018) on psychological harassment where the facts amount to sexual harassment. It finds that certain obstacles encountered by psychological harassment claimants may be mitigated by the amendments. However, others are unaffected, and may continue to lead to rejection of complaints even when sexual harassment has been proven. The study nonetheless illustrates some advantages of a claim for psychological harassment: quicker complaint processing as well as the possibility of filing a complaint for unfair dismissal or prohibited practices under the Act Respecting Labour Standards. The amendments confirm the Commission des normes, de l&apos;équité salariale et de la santé et de la sécurité du travail and the Administrative Labour Tribunal&apos;s mandate to enforce employees&apos; rights to a work environment free from psychological harassment including harassment of a sexual nature. They also represent a signal from the legislator that these institutions could show more sensitivity to gender issues in implementing the Act Respecting Labour Standards&apos; provisions on psychological harassment.

Childhood obesity has multiple interrelated causes and so should be addressed with multiple interventions, including innovative nutrition education programs that encourage healthy lifestyle choices in children. Research indicates that garden-based nutrition education increases fruit and vegetable preferences and consumption in children. Additionally, many reports on Farm to School programs indicate they promote both increased consumption of fruits and vegetables and participation in the National School Lunch Program. Within California, UC Agriculture and Natural Resources plays a leadership role in school garden and Farm to School programs. We provide a relevant literature review and assess the role of UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) in program implementation and assessment, including results from a survey of UCCE advisors and directors. All respondents reported implementation of garden-based nutrition education and Farm to School programs; however, evaluation occurred much less frequently.

Background: With increasing numbers of people with an intellectual disability choosing to become parents, the right support is imperative for effective parenting (Macintyre & Stewart2011]). The aim of this study was to gain insight into the experiences of parents who received support from Doulas during pregnancy, birth and following the birth of their child. In addition, the experiences of the Doulas who provided the support were investigated. Materials and Methods: Four women with an intellectual disability who received Doula support were interviewed before and after the birth of their child. Three Doulas were interviewed after the birth about their experiences of supporting women with an intellectual disability. Results: Interview transcripts were analysed using Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Themes were identified from each interview, before an overall analysis of themes from each support phase was undertaken. Conclusions: Pre-natally, the Doula was considered helpful and a reliable source of information about pregnancy. Each mother perceived Doula support as a means of keeping her child in her care. Post-natally, mothers described a trusting relationship with their Doula, who enabled them to make informed choices. Doulas described how they adapted their work to meet the needs of parents with intellectual disability. Being involved in Child Protection procedures was perceived as stressful and challenging.

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize nursing education. This study compared NCLEX-RN questions generated by AI and those created by nurse educators. Method: Faculty of accredited baccalaureate programs were invited to participate. Likert-scale items for grammar and clarity of the item stem and distractors were compared using Mann-Whitney U, and yes/no questions about clinical relevance and complex terminology were analyzed using chi-square. A one-sample binomial test with confidence intervals evaluated participants' question preference (AI-generated or educator-written). Qualitative responses identified themes across faculty. Results: Item clarity, grammar, and difficulty were similar for AI and educator-created questions. Clinical relevance and use of complex terminology was similar for all question pairs. Of the four sets with preference for one item, three were generated by AI. Conclusion: AI can assist faculty with item generation to prepare nursing students for the NCLEX-RN examination.
