1. Extreme events prediction from nonlocal partial information in a spatiotemporally chaotic microcavity laser

Abstract

The forecasting of high-dimensional, spatiotemporal nonlinear systems has made tremendous progress with the advent of model-free machine learning techniques. However, in real systems it is not always possible to have all the information needed; only partial information is available for learning and forecasting. This can be due to insufficient temporal or spatial samplings, to inaccessible variables or to noisy training data. Here, we show that it is nevertheless possible to forecast extreme events occurrence in incomplete experimental recordings from a spatiotemporally chaotic microcavity laser using reservoir computing. Selecting regions of maximum transfer entropy, we show that it is possible to get higher forecasting accuracy using nonlocal data vs local data thus allowing greater warning times, at least twice the time horizon predicted from the nonlinear local Lyapunov exponent.

Abstract

Nutritional Values of Three Plantain Hybrids CRBP 39, FHIA 17 and FHIA 21 by Comparing them with that of Orishele Variety. This study is to estimate the nutritional values of plantain hybrids CRBP 39, FHIA 17 and FHIA 21 by comparing them with that of Orishele variety as control. For this purpose, Wistar rats weighing in average 82 ± 1.23 g were fed with these plantain diets. The results show good nutritional values of these plantain hybrids. Their daily ingestions by rats vary from 8.41 ± 0.08 to 9.41 ± 0.07 g/d; and an increase in rat weight ranging from 8.38 ± 0.16 to 8.74 ± 0.20 g/d is observed. Plantains used are digested well; their digestibilities vary from 98.43 ± 0.01% to 99.02 ± 0.01% for starch and from 95.38 ± 0.01 to 95.84 ± 0.13% for dry matter. Hybrids starch digestibilities are significantly different from that of the Orishele variety (P≤ 0.05). Rats fed with these plantain hybrids diets have a glycemia ranging from 0.7 to 1.2 g/l with no significant difference.

Abstract

Chemical characteristics as well as contents in main components such as dry matter, sugars, lipids proteins and some minerals were determined in four banana hybrids CRBP 14, CRBP 39, FHIA 17, FHIA 21 and Orishele variety (used as control). Titrable acidity, pH, and calorific energy of these various cultivars of banana (Musa ssp.) were also determined. The results indicated that Orishele variety had the highest content of dry matter, total carbohydrate and potassium. On the other hand, CRBP 39 hybrid which had the highest total acidity was the richest in total sugars and was the most energetic. Concerning FHIA 17, it contained the highest amount of proteins, lipids, magnesium, calcium and iron.

4. Precursor-driven machine learning prediction of chaotic extreme pulses in Kerr resonators

Abstract

Machine learning algorithms have opened a breach in the fortress of the prediction of high-dimensional chaotic systems. Their ability to find hidden correlations in data can be exploited to perform model-free forecasting of spatiotemporal chaos and extreme events. However, the extensive feature of these evolutions constitutes a critical limitation for full-size forecasting processes. Hence, the main challenge for forecasting relevant events is to establish the set of pertinent information. Here, we identify precursors from the transfer entropy of the system and a deep Long Short-Term Memory network to forecast the complex dynamics of a system evolving in a high-dimensional spatiotemporal chaotic regime. Performances of this triggerable model-free prediction protocol based on the information flowing map are tested from experimental data originating from a passive resonator operating in such a complex nonlinear regime. We have been able to predict the occurrence of extreme events up to 9 round trips after the detection of precursor, i.e., 3 times the horizon provided by Lyapunov exponents, with 92 % of true positive predictions leading to 60 % of accuracy.

6. Influence of Stimulated Raman Scattering on Kerr domain walls and localized structures

Abstract

We investigate the influence of the stimulated Raman scattering on the formation of bright and dark localized states in all-fiber resonators subject to a coherent optical injection, when operating in the normal dispersion regime. In the absence of the Raman effect, and far from any modulational instability, localized structures form due to the locking of domain walls connecting two coexisting continuous wave states, and undergo a particular bifurcation structure known as collapsed snaking. The stimulated Raman scattering breaks the reflection symmetry of the system, and modifies the dynamics, stability, and locking of domain walls. This modification leads to the formation of, not only dark, but also bright moving localized states, which otherwise are absent. We perform a detailed bifurcation analysis of these localized states, and classify their dynamics and stability as a function of the main parameters of the system.

Abstract

Two-dimensional arrays of coupled waveguides or coupled microcavities allow to confine and manipulate light. Based on a paradigmatic envelope equation, we show that these devices, subject to a coherent optical injection, support coexistence between a coherent and incoherent emission. In this regime, we show that two-dimensional chimera state can be generated. Depending on initial conditions, the system exhibits a family of two-dimensional chimera states and interaction between them. We characterize these two-dimensional structures by computing their Lyapunov spectrum, and Yorke-Kaplan dimension. Abstract

Despite being convenient and practical, current nanomedicine (NM) release kinetic models remain unscalable, non-specific and less descriptive of the underlying physicochemical determinants. However, a deterministic mathematical modelling could overcome these limitations. In this study, we develop a model, based on a system of two differential equations (accounting for nanoparticle (NP) degradation and then drug release from degraded NM), which enable us to estimate per capita rate constant α (#NP degraded/hr) and β (Drug Amount Released/NP), the net effect of the nanomedicine (NE factor ɣ= α.β) and the controlled release index (φ, ratio of drug release to NP degradation). The model analysis conducted with tenofovir loaded hyaluronidase sensitive NM clearly shows the α factor significantly increased with triggering stimuli due to its enzymatic action on its substrate (hyaluronic acid). However, the β factor remained relatively unchanged, due to intrinsic physicochemical properties of the drug as limiting factor. The application of the solutions of this model clearly enabled us to effectively screen among various nanoformulations and identified the best hyaluronidase-sensitive NM formulation, exhibiting the highest ratio (3.7-fold increase compared to no enzyme). The φ value confirmed the controlled release and stimuli sensitivity of the nanosystem. Moreover, the computed drug release rate (dM/dt) is consistent with other existing mathematical models (under valid assumption). The key advantages of this approach are i) relevancy to underlying physicochemical and biochemical process, ii) versatility and application to various NM kinetics, and iii) prediction of temporo-spatial distribution of the drug loaded NP that could potentially improve in-vitro/in vivo correlation study. This unique approach is applicable for a more specific and more meaningful/physicochemically relevant description of bioactive agents release from NM or NP for various applications.

We show analytically and numerically that time delayed nonlocal response induces traveling localized states in bistable systems. These states result from fronts interaction. We illustrate this mechanism in a generic bistable model with a nonlocal delayed response. Analytical expression of the width and the speed of traveling localized states are derived. Without time delayed nonlocal response traveling localized states are excluded. Finally, we consider an experimentally relevant system, the fiber cavity with the non-instantaneous Raman response, and show evidence of traveling localized state. Abstract

Complex spatiotemporal dynamics have been a subject of recent experimental investigations in optical frequency comb microresonators and in driven fiber cavities with a Kerr-type media. We show that this complex behavior has a spatiotemporal chaotic nature. We determine numerically the Lyapunov spectra, allowing to characterize different dynamical behavior occurring in these simple devices. The Yorke-Kaplan dimension is used as an order parameter to characterize the bifurcation diagram. We identify a wide regime of parameters where the system exhibits a coexistence between the spatiotemporal chaos, the oscillatory localized structure, and the homogeneous steady state. The destabilization of an oscillatory localized state through radiation of counter propagative fronts between the homogeneous and the spatiotemporal chaotic states is analyzed. To characterize better the spatiotemporal chaos, we estimate the front speed as a function of the pump intensity.

We investigate the spatio-temporal dynamics of a ring cavity filled with a non-instantaneous Kerr medium and driven by a coherent injected beam. We show the existence of a stable mixed-mode solution that can be either extended or localized in space. The mixed-mode solutions are obtained in a regime where Turing instability (often called modulational instability) interacts with self-pulsing phenomenon (Andronov-Hopf bifurcation). We numerically describe the transition from stationary inhomogeneous solutions to a branch of mixed-mode solutions. We characterize this transition by constructing the bifurcation diagram associated with these solutions. Abstract

Extreme events such as rogue wave in optics and fluids are often associated with the merging dynamics of coherent structures. We present experimental and numerical results on the physics of extreme events appearance in a spatially extended semiconductor microcavity laser with intracavity saturable absorber. This system can display deterministic irregular dynamics only thanks to spatial coupling through diffraction of light. We have identified parameter regions where extreme events are encountered and established the origin of this dynamics in the emergence of deterministic spatiotemporal chaos, through the correspondence between the proportion of extreme events and the dimension of the strange attractor.

Abstract

Aortic dissection (AD) is a medicosurgical emergency whose diagnosis has been considerably facilitated in recent years by the development of reliable and easily available diagnostic methods such as echocardiography, spiral CT angiography, and even magnetic resonance imaging. The prognosis remains serious, particularly when the ascending aorta is involved (type A AD), therefore immediate surgical treatment can considerably reduce its mortality. The prognosis for dissections of the descending thoracic aorta (type B) is the best; treatment is primarily medical in the absence of complications. We report two cases of unexploited Stanford type A aortic dissection respectively in a 38-year-old patient and a 52-year-old patient, both with a fatal outcome, and two case of type B aortic dissection with a favorable outcome. These observations highlight the need to raise awareness among our populations about cardiovascular emergencies and challenge our health policies in order to improve the technical platform concerning the diagnosis and management of these dissections. Spatially localized and periodic field patterns in periodically modulated optical parametric amplifiers and oscillators are studied. In the degenerate case (equal signal and idler beams) we elaborate the systematic method of construction of the stationary localized modes in the amplifiers, study their properties and stability. We describe a method of constructing periodic solutions in optical parametric oscillators, by adjusting the form of the external driven field to the given form of either signal or pump beams.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to describe hydrocelectomy under local anesthesia in the health district of Kolondièba. This was a cross-sectional (analytical) study by exhaustive survey. The study took place in two phases: a collection phase from November 6 to 13, 2017 and a phase devoted to encoding, entry, purification, data analysis and writing from November 20 to November 15. December 2017. Included in this study are all patients operated on for filarial hydrocele, i.e. 42 patients. We proceeded by a purposive sampling by taking all patients with a filarial hydrocele whose age is greater than 11 years. The average age was 59 years old and 78.6% were married men. Farmers accounted for 69%. The duration of evolution of the hydrocele varied between 5 to 10 years. Half of the patients had grade 2 hydroceles. The impact of the hydrocele on their patients' work was found in 69% of cases and 73.8% had an impact on their sexual life. Total vaginal resection using the Winckelmann technique was performed in 90.5% of cases. The average duration of hydrocelectomy was 30 minutes in 97.6% of cases. A significant link between the quantity of fluid and the impact of hydrocele on work was found (P= 0.010 which is less than 5%). Filaricele surgery requires a good knowledge of the anatomy of the male reproductive system, mastery of surgical techniques, potential complications that may arise during the operation and adequate equipment. The vaginal resection technique is the one commonly used, recommended by WAHO and WHO.

22. Malformative Uropathies: Epidemio-Clinical and Therapeutic Aspects in Children at the Urology Department of the University Hospital Center Point-G

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the epidemiological-clinical and therapeutic aspects of MU in children. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study, over a period of 5 years from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020 carried out in the urology department at the University Hospital Center "Point-G". We collected a total of 69 cases of malformative uropathy (MU) in children. The frequency was 1.41% of all hospitalizations and 5% of patients operated on during the study period. The sex ratio was 7.6 in favor of the male sex. They were admitted by referral from health personnel in the majority of cases, i.e. 93%. The mean age at diagnosis was 7 years. The circumstances of discovery were ectopic abutment of the urethral meatus (43.5%), pain in the lumbar fossa (23.2%) or bladder globe (10%). Ultrasound was performed in all of our patients, and revealed uropathy in 25.9% of cases. The most common uropathies were hypospadias (42%), pyelo-ureteral junction syndrome (23.2%) and posterior urethral valves (13%). All cases benefited from surgical correction adapted to the type of malformative uropathy. The evolution was without complication in the majority of cases in the 1st postoperative week, i.e. 84% of cases.

Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of prostate abscess and a review of the literature. Clinical Observation: We report the case of a 24-year-old patient; admitted to our ward for acute detention associated with a febrile state at (38°C). On physical examination, the digital rectal examination could not assess the condition of the prostate due to severe pain and the rest of the examination was unremarkable. We formulated the following diagnostic hypotheses: prostate abscess, prostate cyst, acute prostatitis. Ultrasound allowed the diagnosis of a prostatic intraparenchymal cyst. The CBC reveals hyperleukocytosis and the ECBU came back positive for Escherichia coli. The diagnosis of a prostate abscess was retained after a guided echo puncture. Treatment consisted of transperineal drainage combined with antibiotic therapy suitable for ECB of pus aspirated during ultrasound-guided puncture. The evolution was favourable. Conclusion: Prostatic abscess is a rare pathology. Faced with a prostate collection in a febrile context, a puncture under ultrasound guidance could confirm the diagnosis. His treatment of choice remains endoscopic drainage and adapted antibiotic therapy.

Abstract

Introduction: Antiseptics have been used for many years in human and veterinary medicine. Over the years, the lengthening of surgical procedures in human surgery and the increasingly frequent use of inert material has increased the risk of infections. This was why skin antisepsis has become very important in the prevention of infections of the surgical wound and resulting complications. In Mali, at the Gabriel Touré University Hospital, the most prescribed family of antiseptics was the halogenated ones, in particular 10% povidone iodine for wound and surgical site antisepsis. This study was aimed to control the quality of 10% povidone iodine used in the hospital. Methodology: We conducted at the Medicines Quality Control Service of the National Health Laboratory of Mali (LNS) a retrospective analytical study on the quality control of 10% povidone iodine. We obtained 10% povidone iodine samples from the Pharmacie Populaire du Mali (PPM). We analyzed 48 batches of samples in regards of visual inspection, average volume, titrimetry, colorimetric test and pH control. Results: All 48 analyzed batches were compliant, i.e. contained the active ingredient and could be used in health facilities or at home as an antiseptic. Conclusion: All analyzed batches of 10% povidone iodine samples did not show any cases of inconsistency and therefore could be used in the management of wound dressings. Future Direction: Use other analytical methods like HPLC to test the quality control of povidone and other types of antiseptics. This study consisted of contributing to a better knowledge of honeydews. Data on the pace of plant foraging were observed in Lemfu (Locality of Madimba Territory) and Kanka (Locality of Mbanza-Ngungu Territory) in Kongo Central Province, from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023. Results reveal that Apis mellifera adansonii collects flowers every hour, continuously between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., throughout the day and all months of observation. The daily average numbers at the flight hole vary from 125 to 513 ± 134 bees in Lemfu and 96 to 480 ± 134 in Kanka; and the monthly averages are 321±134 and 291±134 bees respectively. The pollen harvest, for which 24±20 and 21±18 bees remain the average monthly frequencies, is carried out at the same rate. It is weak around 1 p.m., practically zero from 3 p.m. and is carried out intensely between October and December, accumulating respectively 64% and 60% of all pollen carriers, the average proportions of which vary from 5 to 12%. Obviously, the absolute frequencies of foragers do not impact variations in occupancy and pollen transport. The periods from June to August and from October to December remain those of the great honey flow in Lemfu and Kanka respectively. While the periods February, March and April, May respectively represent those of the small honey flow. It appears interesting that these observations are repeated on other sites in our study area in order to obtain more representative data. However, mastering these indicative results is recommended for a good overview over the months, in order to establish a consistent beekeeping calendar.

Abstract

Objectif Evaluer la prévalence et les prédicteurs de l'obésité chez l'adulte dans la population générale.Méthodologie Il s’agissait d’une étude comparative entre 2002 et 2013 de l’obésité en population générale sur des sujets âgés de 20 ans et plus. Les enquêtes ont été menées selon la procédure STEP de l’OMSL’obésité a été évaluée sur l’indice de masse corporelle (IMC) et le tout de taille (TT).Les analyses ont été réalisées en utilisant SPSS et le seuil de significativé fixé à 0,05.Résultats L’échantillon comprenait 1237 sujets âgés de 20 ans au moins avec une prédominance masculine. La proportion de sujets avec des facteurs de risque cardiovasculaires était plus importante en 2013 avec 6% de tabagiques, 16,7% d’hypertendus et 9,1% de diabétique.Les moyennes pour l’âge, l’IMC, le TT ainsi que la PAD étaient plus élevées en 2013 avec des différences respectives de 4,27 ans, 2,23 Kg/m2, 8,25 cm et 0,37 mmHgLa prévalence de l’obésité basée sur l’IMC a passé de 3,2% en 2002 à 11,5% en 2013 et celle basée sur le TT 16,5 à 33,2.Les facteurs prédictifs de l’obésité étaient le sexe féminin, l’âge entre 30-44 ans et l’hypertension artérielle.ConclusionLa prévalence de l’obésité augmente d’où la nécessité d’une surveillance plus attentive. Les programmes de lutte contre le surpoids et l’obésité doivent être élaborés au même titre que ceux pour le diabète et l’hypertension artérielle Objective to assess the prevalence and predictors of adult obesity in the general population.Methodology This was a comparative study of obesity in the general population on subjects aged 20 and over. Programs to fight against overweight and obesity should be developed in the same way as those for diabetes and high blood pressure.

Abstract

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an inherited red blood cell disorder that occurs worldwide. Acute vaso-occlusive crisis is the main cause of hospitalization in patients with SCD. There is growing evidence that inflammatory vasculopathy plays a key role in both acute and chronic SCD-related clinical manifestations. In a humanized mouse model of SCD, we found an increase of von Willebrand factor activity and a reduction in the ratio of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type 1 motif, number 13 (ADAMTS13) to von Willebrand factor activity similar to that observed in the human counterpart. Recombinant ADAMTS13 was administered to humanized SCD mice before they were subjected to hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) stress as a model of vaso-occlusive crisis. In SCD mice, recombinant ADAMTS13 reduced H/R-induced hemolysis and systemic and local inflammation in lungs and kidneys. It also diminished H/R-induced worsening of inflammatory vasculopathy, reducing local nitric oxidase synthase expression. Collectively, our data provide for the firsttime evidence that pharmacological treatment with recombinant ADAMTS13 (TAK-755) diminished H/R-induced sickle cell-related organ damage. Thus, recombinant ADAMTS13 might be considered as a potential effective disease-modifying treatment option for sickle cell-related acute events.

39. Etude phytochimique et sensorielle de deux champignons sauvages comestibles de Côte d’Ivoire

Abstract

L’objectif de ce travail est d’analyser les paramètres phytochimiques et sensoriels des champignons Lentinus brunneofloccosus pegler et Auricularia auricularia judae. Les échantillons ont été achetés sur les marchés de Daloa et de Yamoussoukro. Un screening phytochimique, les teneurs en polyphénols totaux et flavonoïdes totaux ont été déterminées par les méthodes successives d’Evans, de Wood et de Marinova. Enfin une analyse sensorielle a été effectuée. Les résultats du screening phytochimique révèlent la présence de polyphénols, d’alcaloïdes, de stérols et polyterpènes et de flavonoïdes. Il ressort de l’analyse que, les champignons de la ville de Yamoussoukro ( 693 ± 0,01- 750 ± 0,01 mg ( EAG )/100 g ) ont des teneurs en polyphénols totaux plus élevées que ceux de la localité de Daloa ( 303 ± 0,01- 333 ± 0,00 mg ( EAG )/100 g ). Les teneurs en flavonoïdes totaux varient d’une espèce à une autre et d’une localité à une autre. Le test hédonique montre que les deux champignons sont acceptés par les dégustateurs. Cependant, l’espèce Lentinus est plus appréciée que celle d’Auricularia. La présence des métabolites secondaires dans les deux champignons justifie l’importance thérapeutique de ces deux champignons, d’où l’intérêt de les incorporer dans l’alimentation pour profiter des effets bénéfiques de ses principes actifs.

Abstract

La consommation du charbon de bois prend de plus en plus de l’ampleur partout dans le monde avec environ un milliard d’utilisateurs. Le charbonnage est l’une des activités les plus pratiquées en Côte d’Ivoire malgré la découverte et la promotion des produits pétroliers. Il est devenu l’une des principales causes de déforestation voire de menace véritable sur la flore ivoirienne. Ce travail vise à connaitre les plantes utilisées pour la fabrication du charbon de bois en vue d’une meilleure gestion. Une enquête ethnobotanique auprès des producteurs de charbon de bois et un inventaire ciblé ont été réalisés dans le Département de Daloa. Cent vingt producteurs de charbon de bois ont été interrogés. Ces interviewés sont majoritairement des hommes de moins de 21 ans et sans niveau scolaire. Aucun interviewé n’a le niveau d’études supérieures. Trente-une espèces reparties en 29 genres et 17 familles ont été identifiées. Cassia siamea, Entandrophrama cylindricum et Mangifera indica sont les plus utilisées. Les inventaires floristiques ont permis de recenser 44 espèces reparties en 39 genres et 23 familles. Dix de ces espèces figurent sur la liste rouge de l’UICN. Des actions de sensibilisation et de sauvegarde sont nécessaires pour la conservation de ces espèces menacées.

Abstract

La cacaoculture qui est la base de la prospérité économique et sociale de la Côte d’Ivoire est également la cause principale de la réduction de sa surface forestière. Pourtant, les espèces végétales contribuent à la satisfaction des besoins des populations locales. Notre étude se propose d’évaluer le potentiel de régénération naturelle de la flore ligneuse au regard des domaines d’utilisation. Une enquête ethnobotanique a été réalisée auprès de 60 producteurs pour déterminer l’usage de chacune des espèces. Dans neuf (9) parcelles de 400 m², le nom et la circonférence à 1,30m au-dessus du sol de tous les individus ligneux de de 1,5 m de hauteur ont été enregistrés. Les résultats ont montré une flore riche de 43 espèces appartenant 26 familles. L’analyse du potentiel de régénération a permis de distinguer trois catégories d’espèces. Des espèces avec un pourcentage de régénération fort et moyen, utilisées pour la fertilisation du sol, la pharmacopée et l’alimentation. Des espèces ayant un pourcentage de régénération faible servent d’ ombrage aux jeunes cacaoyers et à la fourniture en bois d’oeuvre. Ce faible taux s’explique par l’élimination de jeunes plants lors du nettoyage régulier de la plantation qui devrait être sélectif pour une cacaoculturedurable.

Abstract

Introduction: Breast cancer is the first cancer in woman worldwide. Its prognosis depends on early diagnosis and treatment. CT-scan has an important place in the diagnostic screening and the surveillance of this disease. The goal of this study was to assess the place of CT-scan in extension screening of breast cancer in the Department of Medical Imaging of the Teaching Hospital Mother-Child “Le Luxembourg”. Methods: It is a descriptive study on the retrospective compilation of CT-scan data of patients in the Department of Medical Imaging of the Teaching Hospital Mother-Child “Le Luxembourg” from May 1st to November 30th 2017. Were enrolled all patients, regardless of gender or age, with breast cancer histologically confirmed and who developed at least one secondary lesion found by CT-scan. CT-scan was performed before and after treatment. CT-scan machines were HITACHI® SUPRIA 16 bars and TOSHIBA® 04 bars, without and with Iodine 350mg intravenous injection. Results: Over seven months, 44 patients were enrolled with a mean age of 49 years and females were predominant. A family history of breast cancer was found in 13% of cases and invasive ductal carcinoma represented 95.54%. The main metastases were multi visceral (31.82%), pleural pulmonary (70.75%), ganglionic (63.63%), hepatic (27.27%) and bone (18.18%). Conclusion: Breast cancer is a public health concern with a clear predominance of women. In our context, CT-scan still has an important place in the research of secondary lesion in addition to the surveillance of this disease. Keywords: CT-scan Breast cancer; Metastasis; UHC Luxembourg

Abstract

Introduction: Antiseptics have been used for many years in human and veterinary medicine. Over the years, the lengthening of surgical procedures in human surgery and the increasingly frequent use of inert material has increased the risk of infections. This was why skin antisepsis has become very important in the prevention of infections of the surgical wound and resulting complications. In Mali, at the Gabriel Touré University Hospital, the most prescribed family of antiseptics was the halogenated ones, in particular 10% povidone iodine for wound and surgical site antisepsis. This study was aimed to control the quality of 10% povidone iodine used in the hospital. Methodology: We conducted at the Medicines Quality Control Service of the National Health Laboratory of Mali (LNS) a retrospective analytical study on the quality control of 10% povidone iodine. We obtained 10% povidone iodine samples from the Pharmacie Populaire du Mali (PPM). We analyzed 48 batches of samples in regards of visual inspection, average volume, titrimetry, colorimetric test and pH control. Results: All 48 analyzed batches were compliant, i.e. contained the active ingredient and could be used in health facilities or at home as an antiseptic. Conclusion: All analyzed batches of 10% povidone iodine samples did not show any cases of inconsistency and therefore could be used in the management of wound dressings. Future Direction: Use other analytical methods like HPLC to test the quality control of povidone and other types of antiseptics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
