Introduction. The causal relation between human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cervical cancer has been documented by studies that have identified HPV in 84.7% of the cases. HPV vaccination is the most effective method of primary prophylaxis if performed during adolescence and can significantly reduce the rate of development of cervical cancer. Objective. Assessing the degree of acceptance of HPV vaccination before and after pro-vaccination counseling, among parents whose daughters can benefit from free vaccination under the National Vaccination Program. Materials and method. This is a prospective study, carried out in a family medicine practice for a period of two years (June 1, 2018 – June 30, 2020), the target group being represented by parents of girls born between 1.06.2004 and 30.06.2009, enrolled in the family medicine office. The study consisted of applying questionnaires to parents to assess their knowledge about the importance of HPV vaccination in the prevention of cervical cancer before and after counseling on the benefits of vaccination. Results. Out of the total of 45 parents contacted, 40 responded to the request and completed the questionnaire. Following the first evaluation, 40% of parents accept the HPV vaccination, 40% hesitate or postpone the decision and 20% refuse the HPV vaccination. After counseling, the percentage of acceptance of vaccination increased to 60% and the percentage of refusal decreased to 10%, the rest being undecided or opting to postpone vaccination. Conclusions. Counseling parents by presenting the benefits of vaccination and their trust in the medical staff positively influence the degree of acceptance of HPV vaccination. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the last few years in Romania we are dealing with a high number of severe RVGE, especially in under 5-years-old children. The noisy clinical signs, unfortunately, often the child is confronted with a severe evolution, hospitalization, are translated in high emergencies which request fast intervention and most important - efficient intervention. The optimal solution to prevent the severe form of the disease remain the rotaviral vaccine, that can be administrated to every child under 6 months with excellent results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Esenţa specialităţii de medicină de familie rămâne posibilitatea de a monitoriza starea de sănătate a întregii familii; de la gravidă la copil, de la tânăr la senior, de la starea de sănătate la starea de boală, de la intervenţii de tip preventiv la cele terapeutice. Medicul de familie (MF) are în îngrijire două sau chiar trei generaţii ale aceleiaşi familii, vine în contact cu fiecare membru din familie, pe parcursul multor ani de practică medicală. Monitorizarea clinică va permite întocmirea unei „hărţi a factorilor de risc“ (HFR), bazată pe patologia familiei de origine. Analizând HFR şi factorii de risc majori identificaţi care acţionează în interiorul familiei, MF poate genera un model predictiv intrafamilial (MPI). MF are posibilitatea aplicării unor intervenţii educative personalizate eficiente, adresate întregii familii. Acest tip de intervenţie aplicat în copilăria timpurie poate încetini sau întârzia apariţia şi evoluţia bolilor cronice grave. În esenţă, MPI reprezintă un mecanism de intervenţie preventivă precoce în controlul apariţiei bolilor cronice majore la viitorii adulţi. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
