This text seeks to analyze the privatization guidelines both globally and at the local level and their deployment in public basic education in Brazil. For that, a bibliographic and documentary study was used, using only public domain. It is possible to diagnose the double movement of endo and exoprivatization carried out in the educational panorama of Brazil, especially through the insertion of large business groups, as well as the reforms undertaken to put into operation the privatization agenda of public basic education. It is observed that the insertion of the private sector into the spaces of human formation reverberate metamorphoses, including that of the social function of the school institution, since it incorporates a link with the business and financial logic and, consequently, will facilitate a loss of the public sense of education as a social right.

The globalization of capital implied worldwide consequences, evidencing in the new international division of labor a global imperialist policy in which it is effective through its accumulation by spoliation. Educational policy does not limit its ideological basis only to the local precepts of its National State. From the conjuncture of globalization, the elements that constitute the social patrimony of a nation need to be conferred not only on a local micro-analysis, but a macro analysis is urgent, in which it contemplates the global space-time, thus comprising the interdependent relationship involving central and peripheral countries. Higher education is highlighted in World Bank documents from the 1990s onwards by providing the peripheral National States with four documents outlining strategies to align peripheral higher education policy with the attempts of imperialist states. The understanding of higher education in peripheral countries as a highly profitable niche conceived policies that were and are in line with the rationality of financially-oriented capital. In the Brazilian particularity, this process contributed to the privatization expansion of Higher Education and its consequent commodification.

RESUMO A legislação vigente, no Brasil, reconhece as pessoas com deficiência como sujeitos de direitos e estabelece a diminuição de barreiras para que esse público possa exercer sua cidadania, porém ainda existem diversos obstáculos que dificultam esse processo. Documentos como a Constituição de 1988, a Convenção Internacional sobre os Direitos das Pessoas com Deficiência de 2007 e, mais recentemente, a Lei Brasileira de Inclusão de 2015 afirmam a necessidade de promover o protagonismo social das pessoas com deficiência. Entre as formas de protagonismo, as organizações das próprias pessoas com deficiência têm papel importante na defesa dos direitos. No caso da deficiência intelectual, embora existam organizações que defendem os direitos dessas pessoas, os defensores são, em sua maioria, familiares, profissionais especializados ou mesmo políticos. Nesse contexto, este estudo propõe a investigação das formas de participação social e escolar das pessoas com deficiência intelectual. A metodologia do estudo incluiu a análise de dados estatísticos públicos do Censo Demográfico Brasileiro (2010) e Censo Escolar (de 2014 a 2018), no que se refere à participação escolar e no mercado de trabalho. Foi utilizado o programa IBM SPSS Statistics para o tratamento dos dados, que foram analisados à luz da literatura especializada e da legislação vigente. O estudo revelou que, na educação, a maioria de alunos com deficiência são estudantes com deficiência intelectual. Em relação ao mercado de trabalho, dentre todas as deficiências, a deficiência intelectual apresenta menores índices de participação. A conclusão aponta para a necessidade de levar-se em consideração esse estado de coisas para ampliar e formular novas políticas de participação social.

O presente artigo trata de uma proposta de intervenção pedagógica em escola pública estadual do Ceará por meio da elaboração e execução de um clube de leitura intitulado Clube do Livro. Projeto realizado com o apoio do Programa Interinstitucional de Bolsas de Iniciação à Docência (Pibid) e idealizado por um grupo de professores da escola na qual o clube está inserido. A metodologia de pesquisa utilizada é apresentada em duas fases: a primeira, bibliográfica, apresenta o referencial teórico utilizado na elaboração do projeto Clube do Livro; a segunda descreve a forma como a ação é executada. O Clube do Livro enquadra-se como pesquisa-ação por propor uma prática que intervenha no ambiente no qual se realiza a pesquisa e que seja realizada pelos membros que compõem esse grupo. Pedagogicamente, o projeto advoga-se circunscrito na Pedagogia Histórico-Crítica. A relevância desse projeto dá-se na oportunidade de oferecer aos educandos instrumentalização para o acesso a obras literárias de qualidade

Abstract Neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients must be adequately staged in order to improve a multidisciplinary approach and optimal management for metastatic disease. Currently available imaging studies include somatostatin receptor scintigraphy, like OctreoScan®, computed tomography (CT), scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which analyze vascular concentration and intravenous contrast enhancement for anatomic tumor localization. However, these techniques require high degree of expertise for interpretation and are limited by their availability, cost, reproducibility, and follow-up imaging comparisons. NETs significantly reduce water diffusion as compared to normal tissue. Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in MRI has an advantageous contrast difference: the tumor is represented with high signal over a black normal surrounding background. The whole-body diffusion (WBD) technique has been suggested to be a useful test for detecting metastasis from various anatomic sites. In this article we report the use of DWI in MRI and WBD in two cases of metastatic pulmonary NET staging in comparison with OctreoScan® in order to illustrate the potential advantage of DWI and WBD in staging NETs.

Abstract Purpose Because in vitro studies suggest that low levels of electromagnetic fields may modify cancer cell growth, we hypothesized that systemic delivery of a combination of tumor-specific frequencies may have a therapeutic effect. We undertook this study to identify tumor-specific frequencies and test the feasibility of administering such frequencies to patients with advanced cancer. Patients and methods We examined patients with various types of cancer using a noninvasive biofeedback method to identify tumor-specific frequencies. We offered compassionate treatment to some patients with advanced cancer and limited therapeutic options. Results We examined a total of 163 patients with a diagnosis of cancer and identified a total of 1524 frequencies ranging from 0.1 Hz to 114 kHz. Most frequencies (57–92%) were specific for a single tumor type. Compassionate treatment with tumor-specific frequencies was offered to 28 patients. Three patients experienced grade 1 fatigue during or immediately after treatment. There were no NCI grade 2, 3 or 4 toxicities. Thirteen patients were evaluable for response. One patient with hormone-refractory breast cancer metastatic to the adrenal gland and bones had a complete response lasting 11 months. One patient with hormone-refractory breast cancer metastatic to liver and bones had a partial response lasting 13.5 months. Four patients had stable disease lasting for +34.1 months (thyroid cancer metastatic to lung), 5.1 months (non-small cell lung cancer), 4.1 months (pancreatic cancer metastatic to liver) and 4.0 months (leiomyosarcoma metastatic to liver). Conclusion Cancer-related frequencies appear to be tumor-specific and treatment with tumor-specific frequencies is feasible, well tolerated and may have biological efficacy in patients with advanced cancer. Carcinoid syndrome (CSy) is a constellation of symptoms that may commonly present in patients with well differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), with somatostatin analogs (SSAs) being the first-line option for symptom management. However, symptomatic progression eventually occurs and in this scenario of a refractory CSy; several treatment options have been studied such as dose escalation of SSA, interferon and liver-directed therapies. Nevertheless, recent phase III trials have contributed to the understanding and management of this condition. We performed a comprehensive review of interventional studies examining refractory CSy to provide the evidence for current treatment options and propose a treatment sequence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
