The Proposal Handling Team at the Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) has been carefully monitoring the outcomes of the ALMA proposal review process to identify potential biases. In particular, we have been monitoring if systematics in the proposal rankings are present in relation to the experience of the Principal Investigator (PI) in submitting ALMA proposals, the regional affiliation of the PI, and the gender of the PI. In response to the presence of some systematics, and in particular pertaining to regional affiliation and experience of the PIs, ALMA instituted dual-anonymous review in Cycle 8. In this talk, I will summarize the systematics in the proposal rankings that have been identified in the ALMA review process and evaluate the impact of dual-anonymous review.

We present an updated analysis of systematics in the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) proposal ranks from Carpenter (2020) to include the last two ALMA cycles, when significant changes were introduced in the proposal review process. In Cycle 7, the investigator list on the proposal cover sheet was randomized such that the reviewers were aware of the overall proposal team but did not know the identity of the principal investigator (PI). In Cycle 8, ALMA adopted distributed peer review for most proposals and implemented dual-anonymous review for all proposals, in which the identity of the proposal team was not revealed to the reviewers. The most significant change in the systematics in Cycles 7 and 8 compared to previous cycles is related to the experience of PIs in submitting ALMA proposals. PIs that submit a proposal every cycle tend to have ranks that are consistent with average in Cycles 7 and 8 whereas previously they had the best overall ranks. Also, PIs who submitted a proposal for the second time show improved ranks over previous cycles. These results suggest some biases related to the relative prominence of the PI have been present in the ALMA review process. Systematics related to regional affiliation remain largely unchanged in that PIs from Chile, East Asia, and non-ALMA regions tend to have poorer overall ranks than PIs from Europe and North America. The systematics of how one region ranks proposals from another region are also investigated. BackgroundSouth America has become the epicenter of coronavirus pandemic. It seems that asymptomatic population may contribute importantly to the spread of the disease. Transmission from asymptomatic pregnant patients' needs to be characterized in larger population cohorts and symptom assessment needs to be standardized.ObjectiveTo assess the prevalence of SARS CoV-2 infection in an unselected obstetrical population and to describe their presentation and clinical evolution.MethodsA cross-sectional study was designed. Medical records of pregnant women admitted at the Obstetrics & Gynecology department of Clínica Dávila for labor & delivery, between April 27th and June 7th, 2020 were reviewed. All patients were screened with RT-PCR for SARS CoV-2 at admission. After delivery, positive cases were inquired by the researchers for clinical symptoms presented before admission and clinical evolution. All neonates born from mothers with confirmed SARS CoV-2 were isolated and tested for SARS CoV-2 infection.ResultsA total of 586 patients were tested for SARS CoV-2 during the study period. Outcomes were obtained from 583 patients which were included in the study. Thirty-seven pregnant women had a positive test for SARS CoV-2 at admission. Cumulative prevalence of confirmed SARS CoV-2 infection was 6.35% (37/583) [CI 95%: 4.63-8.65]. From confirmed cases, 43.2% (16/37) were asymptomatic. From symptomatic patients 85.7% (18/21) had mild symptoms and evolved without complications and 14.3% (3/21) presented severe symptoms requiring admission to intensive care unit. Only 5.4% (2/37) of the neonates born to mothers with a positive test at admission had a positive RT-PCR for SARS CoV-2.ConclusionIn our study nearly half of pregnant patients with SARS CoV-2 were asymptomatic at the time of delivery. Universal screening, in endemic areas, is necessary for adequate patient isolation, prompt neonatal testing and targeted follow-up.

Tesis (Educadora de Párvulos, Licenciada en Educación) En este sentido, 'La Educación Parvularia constituye el primer nivel educativo que, colaborando con la familia, favorece en e/ párvulo aprendizajes oportunos y pertinentes a sus características, necesidades e intereses, fortaleciendo sus potencialidades para un desarrollo pleno y armónico. " (Bases Curriculares de la Educación Parvularia, 2004). En este proceso de enseñanza - aprendizaje es fundamental que exista una estrecha relación entre la comunidad educativa y el núcleo familiar de cada uno de los niños, ya que el contexto educativo debe ser una extensión del hogar que propicie aprendizajes significativos. Dentro de dicho proceso, el rol que desempeña la Educadora de Párvulos resulta fundamental, puesto que es un modelo formador de referencia para los niños. Es por esta razón, que una educadora siempre debe estar en constante proceso de aprendizaje y encontrarse a la vanguardia de los nuevos modelos educativos, para así poder implementar diversas estrategias metodológicas a fin de obtener mayores y mejores logros de aprendizajes en los niños.

Tesis (Educador de Párvulos, Licenciado en Educación) La presente investigación tiene como objetivo principal, evaluar textos escolares chilenos para niños de 5 a 6 años para el desarrollo del pensamiento matemático. A través del estudio se pretende mostrar el contenido de dichos textos, el orden que utilizan y la cantidad de actividades que presentan, para así poder entregar una herramienta a las educadoras de párvulos en el momento de escoger el libro con el cual se quiere trabajar. Es de mucha importancia realizar una investigación de esta índole, ya que no existe información con respecto al tema, tampoco se conoce una jerarquización de contenidos, lo que puede afectar el desarrollo del aprendizaje en el menor en cuanto a las matemáticas. Para llevar a cabo el estudio, se construyó un marco referencial que apoyará el desarrollo del niño de 5 a 6 años en las diferentes áreas, contemplando además la importancia del pensamiento lógico en esta edad. Por otro lado, se incluye un capítulo sobre la legibilidad que deben respetar los textos, ya que es así la única forma que se posee para evaluar si un texto es apto o no para ser trabajado. Con el fin de evaluar los textos de una forma compieta, se construyó una pauta de evaluación, la cual nos permite ver que contiene cada texto y si cumple los requisitos establecidos por las seminaristas. Esta pauta sólo medirá los contenidos de los textos. Para medir la legibilidad se diseñó una lista de cotejo, para saber si se respetan aspectos mínimos como la gráfica
