This paper provides a detailed examination of the challenges, gaps, and problems that institutions may face in moving to the DSpace 7 platform from previous versions or from different and various platforms such as EPrints, Invenio, etc., and the implementation solutions already successfully rolled out in such instances. Through the use of live examples, the presentation aims to illustrate the complexities and nuances of migrating repositories to DSpace 7. 4Science has developed standard procedures that identify pitfalls and decision points and related best practices that will be shared with the audience to help define a better and more informed planning of this often critical phase. The transition and evolution to DSpace 7 represents a great opportunity to rethink the repository structure and provide new services to users. Even for institutions coming from previous versions, this evolution is much more than an upgrade; it is essentially a transition to a new platform. From this point of view, the challenges and opportunities go beyond the technical ones. By sharing the experience gained from dozens of migrations to DSpace 7, we hope to help other institutions facing this challenge to make the process as smooth and successful as possible.

In a Digital Library environment, we can define Digital cultural landscapes as "virtual ecosystems" in which digital cultural heritage subsets are related with entities such as people, places, events, fonds, etc., according to different visions and interpretations, in a pluralism generating new knowledge and opening up new perspectives. These virtual ecosystems today can be easily structured by cultural institutions, using a popular application such as DSpace, the world's most widely used open source Digital Asset Management System. Extending the DSpace data model by means of the Configurable Entities and enriching the platform with new features, indeed, it is possible to go beyond the traditional boundaries of the Digital libraries, structuring a complex system of relationships between entities, to be explored through networks and structured paths, building new narratives thanks to interdisciplinarity and the coexistence of different domains. The paper aims at illustrating, through sharing experiences and reflections from numerous Digital Library projects managed with DSpace, how this application can contribute to the modeling of new digital cultural landscapes.

DSpace-CRIS is the first open source CRIS/RIMS platform in the world. It was born with the idea to put the repository at the core of the information ecosystem of Universities and with the ambition to bring utmost prestige and value to adopting institutions. Other approaches, usually promoted by communities less supportive to the open world, CRIS systems put the Repository to a side, subtracting resources, duplicating efforts and creating competing projects. Since its first release as open source, the Open Repository conference has represented a pivotal date in the year to look at the new achievements and future direction of the DSpace-CRIS project and its large user base of hundreds of installations around the world: this year,the DSpace-CRIS new developments since OR2022 and the updated project roadmap will be presented highlighting the relation with the parent DSpace project and the possible convergences.

Deliverable 13.2 for the WorldFAIR Project’s Cultural Heritage Work Package (WP13). Although the cultural heritage sector has only recently begun to think of traditional gallery, library, archival and museum (‘GLAM’) collections as data, long established practices guiding the management and sharing of information resources has aligned the domain well with the FAIR principles for research data, evidenced in complementary workflows and standards that support discovery, access, reuse, and persistence. As explored in the previous report by Work Package 13 for the WorldFAIR Project, D13.1 Practices and policies supporting cultural heritage image sharing platforms, memory institutions are in an important position to influence cross-domain data sharing practices and raise critical questions about why and how those practices are implemented. Deliverable 13.2 aims to build on our understanding of what it means to support FAIR in the sharing of image data derived from GLAM collections. This report looks at previous efforts by the sector towards FAIR alignment and presents 5 recommendations designed to be implemented and tested at the DRI that are also broadly applicable to the work of the GLAMs. The recommendations are ultimately a roadmap for the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) to follow in improving repository services, as well as a call for continued dialogue around ‘what is FAIR?’ within the cultural heritage research data landscape. DSpace-CRIS is the first open source CRIS/RIMS platform in the world. In 2022 the project will reach is 10th anniversary since the first open-source release of the version 1.8.2 alfa took place in November 2012. Technically it is a fork of the DSpace platform, but the two communities have always walked together with the aim of bringing all the general purposes features of DSpace-CRIS to the main community. With version 7 and, especially, with the introduction of configurable entities in DSpace, the gap between these two "cousin" projects has been drastically reduced. However, thanks to the DSpace-CRIS community's increased experience in dealing with very complex use cases that have only recently found their way into “simple” DSpace, there are still many areas where DSpace-CRIS provides more advanced and still unique functionalities. The presentation will summarize unique features and characteristics of DSpace-CRIS over DSpace in 7 minutes.

Starting with version 7.1, DSpace, provides basic support for IIIF out of box. This result was achieved thanks to the joint work of Willamette University and 4Science. Now the DSpace 7 IIIF support allows institutions to upload images in DSpace, getting automatically a IIIF manifest for the item, based on item and bitstream (images) level metadata; in this way the TOC can be easily managed. Ideally, any IIIF compliant image server can be used, although instructions and full configuration examples are provided for Cantaloupe. Experimental support for the IIIF Search API is also available and it is expected to be refined in future releases. Implementing IIIF is a fundamental achievement in DSpace history, since it is going to promote its use in contexts such those related to digital cultural heritage management, who were hitherto reluctant to use this Digital Asset Management System, not least because of the lack of tools for digital images management, navigation and sharing. The presentation will introduce the available features, the architecture, the tools and strategies that can help institutions to deal with large collections using bulk imports.

«Job crafting and well-being at work: an exploratory analysis during health emergency period». Introduction: During the health emergency in 2020, in order not to interrupt production processes and at the same time to protect the health of citizens and workers, alternative working methods were adopted different from the traditional ones, to which workers were directed without any previous notice or specific training. Aims: The purpose of the research is to explore the relationships between meaning of work, job crafting and emotional exhaustion during the first month of lockdown in the Italian territory. The study therefore aims to identify possible strengthening factors related to working well-being. Methods: The different constructs were detected through an online questionnaire from 11 March to 2 April 2020, involving 405 subjects. After verifying the reliability of the constructs, a mediation model was performed using nonparametric structural equations (PLS-SEM). Results: Model’s constructs show adequate reliabilities. The study highlights the total mediation of job crafting in the relationship between the meaning of work and emotional exhaustion. In particular, the regression relationship between meaning of work and emotional exhaustion is equal to c’=-0.04, p=0.480. To date, several biochemical indexes of NAFLD have been developed. Among these, hepatic steatosis index (HSI) strongly relates with the results of magnetic resonance.Aim: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the possible association between HSI and complications in T1DM.Methods: Medical records of patients with T1DM were evaluated. Macro- and micro-vascular complications were evaluated by a combination of instrumental (ECG, carotid artery echo-Doppler, fundus examination, vibration threshold at biothesiometry) and laboratory examination. HSI was calculated based on gender, body mass index and transaminases level.Results: Of the 124 patients evaluated, 71 were free of complications and 53 had at least one complication. The prevalence of diabetes complications was: 27% for retinopathy, 15% for carotid atherosclerosis, 16% for neuropathy. HSI was directly correlated with age, disease duration, triglycerides, total daily insulin and inversely with HDL and eGFR. In logistic regression analysis, HSI was independently associated with diabetic complications.Conclusion: These findings show that HSI is independently associated with the presence of complications in subjects with T1DM. This can be of clinical utility, allowing a better diagnostic classification of the patient and possibly guiding the therapeutic choice.Keywords: fatty liver, type 1 diabetes, diabetes complications

The digital cultural heritage of the University of Pavia is characterized by its size and variety: archival materials, ancient books, museum objects and documents related to the history and activity of the University make up one of the most important heritage for the study of Italian modern and contemporaneous literature and history. Until now, these materials could not be explored in an integrated way within a Digital Library. The differences in data models and metadata standards adopted made it impossible to guarantee interoperability between the different cultural resources. These problems have now been overcome through the use of DSpace-GLAM, an extension of DSpace specifically structured for cultural heritage management. The presentation starting from Pavia University case study illustrates how, after mapping different data structures on DSpace-GLAM flexible data model, it is possible not only to navigate through the pages of the various documents, but also to study the historical and geographical context of the digital objects, exploring people, events and places related to them; therefore, moving the application from a Digital Library to a Digital Humanities Platform.
