This article studies manufacturing industry transformations in the southeast region of the state of Coahuila. These are a result of structural adjustment in Mexico in the 1980s, of the consolidation of the international aperture model, and the industrial relocation in which the transnational corporations moved into the peripheral regions to improve their competitive position and their profitability. The paper also analyzes processes characteristic of the emergence of a post-Fordist system of accumulation, as well as changes in the manufacturing structure in the region and the performance of representative activities, classified by their performance, using such indicators as average remuneration, capital intensity, labor productivity and work force profitability.
