As the energy demand continuously increases, polymer‐based materials have attracted much attention for energy storage systems as dielectric capacitors due to their higher power density and charge–discharge rate than lithium‐ion batteries and supercapacitors. However, it is necessary to increase the energy density of dielectric capacitors. In this context, poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene), PVDF‐HFP, matrix nanocomposites are produced by solution casting method reinforced with hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) nanoparticles and silane‐modified boron nitride nanosheets ‐BNNSs‐ (BNNS‐VTS) up to 10 wt.% filler content. The effects of filler content and surface modification of hBN/BNNSs on PVDF‐HFP matrix nanocomposites' microstructure, phase evolution, crystalization behavior, dielectric properties, and energy storage performance are discussed. 4% hBN/PVDF‐HFP nanocomposite demonstrates 641 MV·m−1 of breakdown strength and 23.2 J·cm−3 of discharged energy density due to hexagonal boron nitride's excellent electrical insulating behavior. The achieved values are 3.0 and 10.5 times superior to the values of the neat thin film, respectively, and they are noteworthy among hBN‐ or BNNS‐reinforced PVDF‐based nanocomposites, even in multi‐layered structures. Furthermore, 4% hBN/PVDF‐HFP presents a giant charge–discharge energy efficiency (92%). It is thus demonstrated that hBN/PVDF‐HFP nanocomposites hold a great potential to be used in energy storage applications as flexible and lightweight dielectric capacitors. Antimicrobial materials are crucial for high‐touch surfaces to prevent the adhesion and proliferation of microorganisms, playing a key role in infection control measures. In this work, a magnetoelectric nanocomposite able to exert antimicrobial activity when magnetically stimulated, is obtained by solvent casting. The nanocomposites, composed of poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) and cobalt ferrite magnetostrictive nanoparticles (CFO NPs), respond to a variable magnetic field by mechanically stimulating the piezoelectric component of the material, thereby inducing an electrical polarization. The antimicrobial properties of the material are determined by exposing it to different frequencies (0.3 and 1 Hz) using a custom‐designed magnetic bioreactor, where the resulting electrical microenvironments are the contributing factor. The growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus over the nanocomposite is highly inhibited when magnetically stimulated (dynamic conditions) mainly at 0.3 Hz, in contrast to static conditions. The electric microenvironment is further measured upon magnetic stimulation, with PHBV films with 20% CFO inducing a voltage variation of ≈20 µV at the surface while the films with 10% CFO induced a voltage variation of ≈12 µV. This work demonstrated that magnetic stimulation, combined with magnetoelectric materials, can be used for remote antimicrobial control, thus preventing the spread of infections. Alcohol consumption is an established cause of female breast cancer. This systematic review examines in detail the association between alcohol and female breast cancer overall and among the described subgroups, using all of the evidence to date. A systematic review of PubMed and Embase was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses guidelines. The search included articles published up to November 15, 2023. Meta‐analyses and regressions were performed for alcohol consumption of less than 1 standard drink (10 g of ethanol) per day and for a range of alcohol consumption categories in relation to breast cancer. Analyses by menopausal status, hormone receptor status, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 status, and molecular subtype were performed. The search yielded 5645 publications, of which 23 publications of individual and pooled studies examined the association between overall alcohol consumption and breast cancer incidence. The meta‐regression showed a positive association; relative risks (RR) of breast cancer were 1.05 (95% CI: 1.04, 1.06), 1.10 (95% CI: 1.08, 1.12), 1.18 (95% CI: 1.15, 1.21), and 1.22 (95% CI: 1.19, 1.25) for 0.5, 1, 2, and 3 standard drinks per day compared with nondrinking, respectively. A meta‐analysis of nine studies indicated that for consumption of less than one standard drink per day, the RR estimate of breast cancer was 1.04 (95% CI: 1.01, 1.07) compared with nondrinking. Consumption of an additional 1 standard drink per day was associated with a higher risk of premenopausal (RR: 1.03 (95% CI: 1.01, 1.06)) and postmenopausal (RR: 1.10 (95% CI: 1.08, 1.12)) breast cancer. Alcohol consumption increases female breast cancer risk, even for women who consume one drink per day. Furthermore, alcohol consumption is associated with both pre‐ and postmenopausal breast cancer risk. Background and aims: Previously identified national drinking patterns in Europe lack comparability and might be no longer be valid due to changes in economic conditions and policy frameworks. We aimed to identify the most recent alcohol drinking patterns in Europe based on comparable alcohol exposure indicators using a data‐driven approach, as well as identifying temporal changes and establishing empirical links between these patterns and indicators of alcohol‐related harm. Design: Data from the World Health Organization's monitoring system on alcohol exposure indicators were used. Repeated cross‐sectional hierarchical cluster analyses were applied. Differences in alcohol‐attributable harm between clusters of countries were analyzed via linear regression. Setting: European Union countries, plus Iceland, Norway and Ukraine, for 2000, 2010, 2015 and 2019. Participants/Cases: Observations consisted of annual country data, at four different time points for alcohol exposure. Harm indicators were only included for 2019. Measurements Alcohol exposure indicators included alcohol per capita consumption (APC), beverage‐specific consumption and prevalence of drinking status indicators (lifetime abstainers, current drinkers, former drinkers and heavy episodic drinking). Alcohol‐attributable harm was measured using age‐standardized alcohol‐attributable Disability‐Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) lost and deaths per 100 000 people. Findings The same six clusters were identified in 2019, 2015 and 2010, mainly characterized by type of alcoholic beverage and prevalence drinking status indicators, with geographical interpretation. Two‐thirds of the countries remained in the same cluster over time, with one additional cluster identified in 2000, characterized by low APC. The most recent drinking patterns were shown to be significantly associated with alcohol‐attributable deaths and DALY rates. Compared with wine‐drinking countries, the mortality rate per 100 000 people was significantly higher in Eastern Europe with high spirits and 'other' beverage consumption [ β^ = 90, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 55–126], and in Eastern Europe with high lifetime abstainers and high spirits consumption (β^ = 42, 95% CI = 4–78). Conclusions: European drinking patterns appear to be clustered by level of beverage‐specific consumption, with heavy episodic drinkers, current drinkers and lifetime abstainers being distinguishing factors between clusters. Despite the overall stability of the clusters over time, some countries shifted between drinking patterns from 2000 to 2019. Overall, patterns of drinking in the European Union seem to be stable and partly determined by geographical proximity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, electroluminescent devices have emerged as pivotal components, illuminating a path toward energy‐efficient lighting solutions, advanced displays, and integrated sensing technologies, profoundly impacting sectors ranging from consumer electronics to sustainable urban development. Based in such socio‐scientific‐economic scenario, and in the pursuit of sustainable and environmentally conscious technologies, this work presents a novel approach to the development of a multifunctional electroluminescent (EL) device capable of both efficient lighting and electric field frequency sensing applications. The proposed device integrates a composite based on zinc sulfide co‐doped with copper (ZnS:Cu) phosphor particles and plant‐based UV resin, to achieve enhanced functional properties and reduced environmental impact. The developed anycubic plant‐based UV resin clear (ECOr)/ZnS:Cu inks display viscosity values between 0.5 and 100 Pa.s (ensuring good quality of screen‐prints), and after printing composites exhibit thermal stability up to ≈200 °C; morphological homogeneity, dielectric properties dependent on the ZnS:Cu content (dielectric constant of 12.8 for the sample with 80 wt.% of filler); 30 cd.m2 luminance for the sample with 80 wt.% of ZnS:Cu; and colorimetric electric field frequency sensing capability in the 0–3 kHz range. Thus, this research contributes to the advancement of sustainable technologies that prioritize both multifunctionality and environmental responsibility in the fabrication of electroluminescent devices for lighting and sensing. This study evaluated the responses of Carapichea ipecacuanha to sunlight stress-induced changes in the electron transport chain and its extended effects on alkaloid production (emetine and cephalin). The treatments consisted of: (i). 50, 70, and 90% shading (controls) and their respective exposure to full sunlight; besides, full sunlight (55 days of direct sun exposure). Photosynthetic pigments, chlorophyll a fluorescence transient, antioxidant enzymatic system, and quantification of cephalin and emetine were analyzed. Several changes in the Chl a fluorescence induction were observed, such as a decline in the quantum yield of the conversion of photochemical energy and photosynthetic performance and; an increase in emetine production of plants exposed to full sunlight. These results demonstrated that ipecac plants are extremely sensitive to full exposure to solar radiation, especially in periods with high temperatures, such as in summer, however with increment in emetine production.
