The concept of quantum acceleration limit has been recently introduced for any unitary time evolution of quantum systems under arbitrary nonstationary Hamiltonians. While Alsing and Cafaro [Int. J. Geom. Methods Mod. Phys. 21, 2440009 (2024)] used the Robertson uncertainty relation in their derivation, Pati [arXiv:quant-ph/2312.00864 (2023)] employed the Robertson-Schr\"odinger uncertainty relation to find the upper bound on the temporal rate of change of the speed of quantum evolutions. In this paper, we provide a comparative analysis of these two alternative derivations for quantum systems specified by an arbitrary finite-dimensional projective Hilbert space. Furthermore, focusing on a geometric description of the quantum evolution of two-level quantum systems on a Bloch sphere under general time-dependent Hamiltonians, we find the most general conditions needed to attain the maximal upper bounds on the acceleration of the quantum evolution. In particular, these conditions are expressed explicitly in terms of two three-dimensional real vectors, the Bloch vector that corresponds to the evolving quantum state and the magnetic field vector that specifies the Hermitian Hamiltonian of the system. For pedagogical reasons, we illustrate our general findings for two-level quantum systems in explicit physical examples characterized by specific time-varying magnetic field configurations. Chae's analyses on GAIA observations of wide binary stars have fortified the paradigm of extended gravity with particular attention to MOND-like theories. We recall that, starting from the origin of Einstein's general relativity, the request of Mach on the structure of the theory has been the core of the foundational debate. This issue is strictly connected with the nature of the mass-energy equivalence. This was exactly the key point that Einstein used to derive the same general relativity. On the other hand, the current requirements of particle physics and the open questions within extended gravity theories, which have recently been further strengthened by analyses of GAIA observations, request a better understanding of the Equivalence Principle. Mathur and Mehta won the third prize in the 2023 Gravity Research Foundation Essay Competition for proving the universality of black hole (BH) thermodynamics. Specifically, they demonstrated that any Extremely Compact Object (ECO) must have the same BH thermodynamic properties regardless of whether or not the ECO possesses an event horizon. The result is remarkable, but it was obtained under the approximation according to which the BH emission spectrum has an exactly thermal character. In fact, strong arguments based on energy conservation and BH back reaction imply that the spectrum of the Hawking radiation cannot be exactly thermal. In this paper, in the classical framework we evaluate the lower bounds for the sensitivities of the generalized Lemaitre Tolman Bondi metric. The calculated lower bounds via the linear dynamical systems L_{\frac{\partial}{\partial\theta}}, L_{\frac{\partial}{\partial r}}, and L_{\frac{\partial}{\partial\phi}} are -\ln2+\ln|(\dot{R}B)^{2}-(R')^{2}|-2\ln|B|, 2\ln|\dot{B}|-\ln2 and -\ln2-2\ln|B|+\ln|(\dot{R}^{2}B^{2}-R'^{2})\sin^{2}\theta-B^{2}\cos^{2}\theta| respectively. We also show that the sensitivities and the lower sensitivities via L_{\frac{\partial}{\partial t}} are zero. In the quantum framework we analyse the properties of the Einstein-Vaz shells which are the final result of the quantum gravitational collapse arising from the Lemaitre Tolman Bondi discussed by Vaz in 2014. In fact, Vaz showed that continued collapse to a singularity can only be obtained if one combines two independent and entire solutions of the Wheeler-DeWitt equation. Forbidding such a combinatin leads naturally to matter condensing on the Schwarzschild surface during quantum collapse. In that way, an entirely new framework for black holes (BHs) has emerged. The approach of Vaz as also consistent with Einstein's idea in 1939 of the localization of the collapsing particles within a thin spherical shell. Here, following an approach of oned of us (CC), we derive the BH mass and energy spectra via a Schrodinger-like approach, by further supporting Vaz's conclusions that instead of a spacetime singularity covered by an event horizon, the final result of the gravitational collapse is an essentially quantum object, an extremely compact "dark star". This "gravitational atom" is held up not by any degeneracy pressure but by quantum gravity in the same way that ordinary atoms are sustained by quantum mechanics. The M\"ossbauer rotor effect recently gained a renewed interest due to the discovery and explanation of an additional effect of clock synchronization which has been missed for about 50 years, i.e. starting from a famous book of Pauli, till some more recent experimental analyses. The theoretical explanation of such an additional effect is due to some recent papers in the general relativistic framework. We explore applications of quantum computing for radio interferometry and astronomy using recent developments in quantum image processing. We evaluate the suitability of different quantum image representations using a toy quantum computing image reconstruction pipeline, and compare its performance to the classical computing counterpart. For identifying and locating bright radio sources, quantum computing can offer an exponential speedup over classical algorithms, even when accounting for data encoding cost and repeated circuit evaluations. We also propose a novel variational quantum computing algorithm for self-calibration of interferometer visibilities, and discuss future developments and research that would be necessary to make quantum computing for radio astronomy a reality., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures

The Schr\"odinger equation of the Schwarzschild black hole (BH) shows that a BH is composed of a particle, the "electron", interacting with a central field, the "nucleus". Via de Broglie's hypothesis, one interprets the "electron" in terms of BH horizon's modes. Quantum gravity effects modify the BH semi-classical structure at the Schwarzschild scale rather than at the Planck scale. The analogy between this BH Schr\"odinger equation and the Schr\"odinger equation of the s states of the hydrogen atom permits us to solve the same equation. Therefore, BHs are well defined quantum gravitational systems obeying Schr\"odinger's theory: the "gravitational hydrogen atoms". By identifying the potential energy in the BH Schr\"odinger equation as being the gravitational energy of a spherically symmetric shell, a different nature of the quantum BH seems to surface. BHs are self-interacting, highly excited, spherically symmetric, massive quantum shells generated by matter condensing on the apparent horizon, concretely realizing the membrane paradigm. The quantum BH descripted as a "gravitational hydrogen atom" is a fictitious mathematical representation of the real, quantum BH, a quantum massive shell having as radius the oscillating gravitational radius. Nontrivial consequences emerge from this result: i) BHs have neither horizons nor singularities; ii) there is neither information loss in BH evaporation, nor BH complementarity, nor firewall paradox. These results are consistent with previous ones by Hawking, Vaz, Mitra and others. Policy-based algorithms are among the most widely adopted techniques in model-free RL, thanks to their strong theoretical groundings and good properties in continuous action spaces. Unfortunately, these methods require precise and problem-specific hyperparameter tuning to achieve good performance, and tend to struggle when asked to accomplish a series of heterogeneous tasks. In particular, the selection of the step size has a crucial impact on their ability to learn a highly performing policy, affecting the speed and the stability of the training process, and often being the main culprit for poor results. In this paper, we tackle these issues with a Meta Reinforcement Learning approach, by introducing a new formulation, known as meta-MDP, that can be used to solve any hyperparameter selection problem in RL with contextual processes. After providing a theoretical Lipschitz bound to the difference of performance in different tasks, we adopt the proposed framework to train a batch RL algorithm to dynamically recommend the most adequate step size for different policies and tasks. In conclusion, we present an experimental campaign to show the advantages of selecting an adaptive learning rate in heterogeneous environments.

In 2014, in a famous paper Hawking strongly criticized the firewall paradox by claiming that it violates the equivalence principle and breaks the CPT invariance of quantum gravity. He proposed that the final result of the gravitational collapse should not be an event horizon, but an apparent horizon instead. On the other hand, Hawking did not give a mechanism for how this could work. In the same year, Vaz endorsed Hawking's proposal in a quantum gravitational model of dust collapse by winning the Second Prize in the 2014 Gravity Research Foundation Essay Competition. Scientific imagination and experimental ingenuity are at the heart of physics. One of the most known instances where this interplay between theory (i.e., foundations) and experiments (i.e., technology) occurs is in the discussion of Bell's inequalities. In this paper, we present a revisitation of the violation of Bell's inequality in the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) form with entangled quantum states. First, we begin with a discussion of the 1935 Einstein-Podolski-Rosen (EPR) paradox (i.e., incompleteness of quantum mechanics) that emerges from putting the emphasis on Einstein's locality and the absolute character of physical phenomena. Second, we discuss Bell's 1971 derivation of the 1969 CHSH form of the original 1964 Bell inequality in the context of a realistic local hidden-variable theory (RLHVT). Third, identifying the quantum-mechanical spin correlation coefficient with the RLHVT one, we follow Gisin's 1991 analysis to show that quantum mechanics violates Bell's inequality when systems are in entangled quantum states. For pedagogical purposes, we show how the extent of this violation depends both on the orientation of the polarizers and the degree of entanglement of the quantum states. Fourth, we discuss the basics of the experimental verification of Bell's inequality in an actual laboratory as presented in the original 1982 Aspect-Grangier-Roger (AGR) experiment. Efficient use of energy is essential for today's supercomputing systems, as energy cost is generally a major component of their operational cost. Research into "green computing" is needed to reduce the environmental impact of running these systems. As such, several scientific communities are evaluating the trade-off between time-to-solution and energy-to-solution. While the runtime of an application is typically easy to measure, power consumption is not. Therefore, we present the Power Measurement Toolkit (PMT), a high-level software library capable of collecting power consumption measurements on various hardware. The library provides a standard interface to easily measure the energy use of devices such as CPUs and GPUs in critical application sections.

The M\"ossbauer rotor effect recently gained a renewed interest due to the discovery and explanation of an additional effect of clock synchronization which has been missed for about 50 years, i.e. starting from a famous book of Pauli, till some recent experimental analyses. The theoretical explanation of such an additional effect is due to some recent papers in both the general relativistic and the special relativistic frameworks. In the first case (general relativistic framework) the key point of the approach is the Einstein's equivalence principle (EEP), which, in the words of the same Einstein, enables "the point of view to interpret the rotating system K' as at rest, and the centrifugal field as a gravitational field". In this paper, we analyse both the history of the M\"ossbauer rotor effect and its interpretation from the point of view of Einstein's general theory of relativity (GTR) by adding some new insight. In particular, it will be shown that, if on one hand the "traditional" effect of redshift has a strong analogy with the gravitational redshift, on the other hand the additional effect of clock synchronization has an intriguing analogy with the cosmological redshift. The non-zero minimal length arises in various theories of gravity, leading to the so-called generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). In this short paper we analyze the GUP effects on neutron interferometry, showing that the obtained phase shifts depend on the mass and velocity of the particle. Real-world applications are now processing big-data sets, often bottlenecked by the data movement between the compute units and the main memory. Near-memory computing (NMC), a modern data-centric computational paradigm, can alleviate these bottlenecks, thereby improving the performance of applications. The lack of NMC system availability makes simulators the primary evaluation tool for performance estimation. However, simulators are usually time-consuming, and methods that can reduce this overhead would accelerate the early-stage design process of NMC systems. This work proposes Near-Memory computing Profiling and Offloading (NMPO), a high-level framework capable of predicting NMC offloading suitability employing an ensemble machine learning model. NMPO predicts NMC suitability with an accuracy of 85.6% and, compared to prior works, can reduce the prediction time by using hardware-dependent applications features by up to 3 order of magnitude., Comment: Euromicro Conference on Digital System Design 2021

A new experiment for the gravitational waves (GWs) detection is proposed. It is indeed shown that the effect of GWs on sound waves (SWs) in a fluid is that GWs vary the pressure of the fluid by crossing it. This variation can be found by analysing the gauge of the local observer. It is shown that one can, in principle, detect GWs through the proposed new experiment. The variation of the pressure of the fluid, which represents detected signals, are indeed much higher than the correspondent values of GWs amplitudes. The examples of rotating neutron stars (NSs) and relic GWs are discussed. Remarkably, a confrontation of the proposed new method with a previous paper of Singh et al. on a similar approach shows a possible improvement of the sensitivity concerning the potential detection of GWs. It must be emphasized that this proposed procedure may be difficult in practical experiments because of the presence of different types of noise. For this reason, a Section of the paper is dedicated to the discussion of such noises. On the other hand, this paper must be considered as being pioneering in the new proposed approach. By applying Rosen's quantization approach to the historical Oppenheimer and Snyder gravitational collapse and by setting the constraints for the formation of the Schwarzschild black hole (SBH), in a previous paper [1] two of the Authors (CC and FF) found the gravitational potential, the Schrodinger equation, the solution for the energy levels, the area quantum and the quantum representation of the ground state at the Planck scale of the SBH. Such results are consistent with previous ones in the literature. It was also shown that the traditional classical singularity in the core of the SBH is replaced by a quantum oscillator describing a non-singular two-particle system where the two components, named the "nucleus" and the "electron", strongly interact with each other through a quantum gravitational interaction. In agreement with the de Broglie hypothesis, the "electron" is interpreted in terms of the quantum oscillations of the BH horizon. In other words, the SBH should be the gravitational analogous of the hydrogen atom. In this paper, it is shown that these results allow us to compute the SBH entropy as a function of the BH principal quantum number in terms of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and three sub-leading corrections. In addition, the coefficient of the formula of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy is reduced to a quarter of the traditional value. Then, it is shown that, by performing a correct rescaling of the energy levels, the semi-classical Bohr-like approach to BH quantum physics, previously developed by one of the Authors (CC), is consistent with the obtained results for large values of the BH principal quantum number. After this, Hawking radiation will be analysed by discussing its connection with the BH quantum structure. The Schrodinger equation of the Schwarzschild black hole (SBH) is derived via Feynman's path integral approach by re-obtaining the same results found by the Author and collaborators in two recent research papers. In this two-particle system approach to BH quantum physics the traditional classical singularity in the core of the SBH is replaced by a nonsingular two-particle system where the two components, the "nucleus" and the "electron", strongly interact with each other through a quantum gravitational interaction. In other words, the SBH is the gravitational analog of the hydrogen atom and this could, in principle, drive to a space-time quantization based on a quantum mechanical particle approach. By following with caution the analogy between this SBH Schrodinger equation and the traditional Schrodinger equation of the s states (l=0) of the hydrogen atom, the SBH Schrodinger equation can be solved and discussed. The approach also permits us to find the quantum gravitational quantities which are the gravitational analogous of the fine structure constant and of the Rydberg constant. Remarkably, such quantities are not constants. Instead, they are dynamical quantities having well defined discrete spectra. In particular, the spectrum of the "gravitational fine structure constant" is exactly the set of non-zero natural numbers \mathbb{N}-\left\{ 0\right\} . It has been recently shown that the Bekenstein entropy bound is not respected by the systems satisfying modified forms of Heisenberg uncertainty principle (HUP) including the generalized and extended uncertainty principles, or even their combinations. On the other, the use of generalized entropies, which differ from Bekenstein entropy, in describing gravity and related topics signals us to different equipartition expressions compared to the usual one. In that way, The mathematical form of an equipartition theorem can be related to the algebraic expression of a particular entropy, different from the standard Bekenstein entropy, initially chosen to describe the black hole event horizon, see E. M. C. Abreu et al., MPLA 32, 2050266 (2020). Motivated by these works, we address three new uncertainty principles leading to recently introduced generalized entropies. In addition, the corresponding energy-time uncertainty relations and Unruh temperatures are also calculated. Computation in-memory is a promising non-von Neumann approach aiming at completely diminishing the data transfer to and from the memory subsystem. Although a lot of architectures have been proposed, compiler support for such architectures is still lagging behind. In this paper, we close this gap by proposing an end-to-end compilation flow for in-memory computing based on the LLVM compiler infrastructure. Starting from sequential code, our approach automatically detects, optimizes, and offloads kernels suitable for in-memory acceleration. We demonstrate our compiler tool-flow on the PolyBench/C benchmark suite and evaluate the benefits of our proposed in-memory architecture simulated in Gem5 by comparing it with a state-of-the-art von Neumann architecture., Comment: Full version of DATE2020 publication

Abstract Black hole collision produce gravitational radiation which is generally thought in a quantum limit to be gravitons. The stretched horizon of a black hole contains quantum information, or a form of quantum hair, which in a coalescence of black holes participates in the generation of gravitons. This may be facilitated with a Bohr-like approach to black hole (BH) quantum physics with quasi-normal mode (QNM) approach to BH quantum mechanics. Quantum gravity and quantum hair on event horizons is excited to higher energy in BH coalescence. The near horizon condition for two BHs right before collision is a deformed AdS spacetime. These excited states of BH quantum hair then relax with the production of gravitons. This is then argued to define RT entropy given by quantum hair on the horizons. These qubits of information from a BH coalescence should then appear in gravitational wave (GW) data. Modern radio telescopes like the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) will need to process in real-time exabytes of radio-astronomical signals to construct a high-resolution map of the sky. Near-Memory Computing (NMC) could alleviate the performance bottlenecks due to frequent memory accesses in a state-of-the-art radio-astronomy imaging algorithm. In this paper, we show that a sub-module performing a two-dimensional fast Fourier transform (2D FFT) is memory bound using CPI breakdown analysis on IBM Power9. Then, we present an NMC approach on FPGA for 2D FFT that outperforms a CPU by up to a factor of 120x and performs comparably to a high-end GPU, while using less bandwidth and memory.

Considering the modified entropy-area relation from DSR-GUP (Doubly special relativity-Generalized uncertainity principle), we obtain the modified Friedmann equations from the first law of thermodynamics at apparent horizon. Due to the importance of GUP at Planck scale, we investigate the Friedmann equations and show the maximum energy density \r{ho} at Planck scale. Since GUP implies a minimal length, we find a minimum apparent horizon which has a potential to remove the Big Bang singularity. Following Rosen's quantization rules, two of the Authors (CC and FF) recently described the Schwarzschild black hole (BH) formed after the gravitational collapse of a pressureless "star of dust" in terms of a "gravitational hydrogen atom". Here we generalize this approach to the gravitational collapse of a charged object, namely, to the geometry of a Reissner-Nordstrom BH (RNBH) and calculate the gravitational potential, the Schr\"odinger equation and the exact solutions of the energy levels of the gravitational collapse. By using the concept of BH effective state, previously introduced by one of us (CC), we describe the quantum gravitational potential, the mass spectrum and the energy spectrum for the extremal RNBH. The area spectrum derived from the mass spectrum finds agreement with a previous result by Bekenstein. Nathan Rosen's quantization approach to the gravitational collapse is applied in the simple case of a pressureless "star of dust" by finding the gravitational potential, the Schrodinger equation and the solution for the collapse's energy levels. By applying the constraints for a Schwarzschild black hole (BH) and by using the concept of BH effective state, previously introduced by one of the authors (CC), the BH quantum gravitational potential, Schrodinger equation and the BH energy spectrum are found. Remarkably, such an energy spectrum is in agreement (in its absolute value) with the one which was conjectured by Bekenstein in 1974 and consistent with other ones in the literature. This approach also permits to find an interesting quantum representation of the Schwarzschild BH ground state at the Planck scale. Moreover, two fundamental issues about BH quantum physics are addressed by this model: the area quantization and the singularity resolution. As regards the former, a result similar to the one obtained by Bekenstein, but with a different coefficient, has been found. About the latter, it is shown that the traditional classical singularity in the core of the Schwarzschild BH is replaced, in a full quantum treatment, by a two-particle system where the two components strongly interact with each other via a quantum gravitational potential. Focusing on the special case of generalized Rastall theory, as a subclass of the non-minimal curvature-matter coupling theories in which the field equations are mathematically similar to the Einstein field equations in the presence of cosmological constant, we find two classes of black hole (BH) solutions including $i$) conformally flat solutions and $ii$) non-singular BHs. Accepting the mass function definition and by using the entropy contents of the solutions along with thermodynamic definitions of temperature and pressure, we study the validity of Euler equation on the corresponding horizons. Our results show that the thermodynamic pressure, meeting the Euler equation, is not always equal to the pressure components appeared in the gravitational field equations and satisfies the first law of thermodynamics, a result which in fact depends on the presumed energy definition. The requirements of having solutions with equal thermodynamic and Hawking temperatures are also studied. Additionally, we study the conformally flat BHs in the Rastall framework. The consequences of employing generalized Misner-Sharp mass in studying the validity of the Euler equation are also addressed.

In the present work, we {study} static spherically symmetric solutions representing wormhole configurations in Poincar\`{e} gauge theory ({{\sf PGT}}). The gravitational sector of the Lagrangian is chosen as a subclass of {\sf PGT} Lagrangians for which, the spin-$0^+$ is the only propagating torsion mode. The spacetime torsion in {\sf PGT} has a dynamical nature even in the absence of intrinsic angular momentum (spin) of matter, hence, {torsion can play a principal role in the case of usual spin-less gravitating systems. We therefore} consider a spin-less matter distribution with an anisotropic energy momentum tensor ({\sf EMT}) as the supporting source for wormhole structure {to obtain a class of zero tidal force wormhole solutions.} It is seen that the matter distribution obeys the physical reasonability conditions, i.e., the weak ({\sf WEC}) and null ({\sf NEC}) energy conditions either at the throat and throughout the spacetime. We further consider varying equations of state in radial and tangential directions via definitions $w_r(r)=p_r(r)/\rho(r)$ and $w_t(r)=p_t(r)/\rho(r)$ and {investigate} the behavior of state parameters {at the throat of wormhole}. We observe that our solutions allow for wormhole configurations without the need of exotic matter. Observational features of the wormhole solutions are also discussed utilizing gravitational lensing effects. It is found that the light deflection angle diverges at the throat (which indeed, effectively acts as a photon sphere) and can get zero and negative values depending on the model parameters., Comment: 21 pages, 5 figures, To appear in MPLA

It is shown that, for a de Sitter Universe, the Hartle-Hawking (HH) wave function can be obtained in a simple way starting from the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) line element of cosmological equations. An oscillator having imaginary time is indeed derived starting from the Hamiltonian obtaining the HH condition. This proposes again some crucial matter on the meaning of complex time in cosmology. Skeleton-based and cage-based deformation techniques represent the two most popular approaches to control real-time deformations of digital shapes and are, to a vast extent, complementary to one another. Despite their complementary roles, high-end modeling packages do not allow for seamless integration of such control structures, thus inducing a considerable burden on the user to maintain them synchronized. In this paper, we propose a framework that seamlessly combines rigging skeletons and deformation cages, granting artists with a real-time deformation system that operates using any smooth combination of the two approaches. By coupling the deformation spaces of cages and skeletons, we access a much larger space, containing poses that are impossible to obtain by acting solely on a skeleton or a cage. Our method is oblivious to the specific techniques used to perform skinning and cage-based deformation, securing it compatible with pre-existing tools. We demonstrate the usefulness of our hybrid approach on a variety of examples.

The conventional approach of moving data to the CPU for computation has become a significant performance bottleneck for emerging scale-out data-intensive applications due to their limited data reuse. At the same time, the advancement in 3D integration technologies has made the decade-old concept of coupling compute units close to the memory --- called near-memory computing (NMC) --- more viable. Processing right at the "home" of data can significantly diminish the data movement problem of data-intensive applications. In this paper, we survey the prior art on NMC across various dimensions (architecture, applications, tools, etc.) and identify the key challenges and open issues with future research directions. We also provide a glimpse of our approach to near-memory computing that includes i) NMC specific microarchitecture independent application characterization ii) a compiler framework to offload the NMC kernels on our target NMC platform and iii) an analytical model to evaluate the potential of NMC., Comment: Preprint

We remind that the ring down features observed in the LIGO GWs resulted from trembling of photon spheres (Rp=3M) of newly formed compact objects and not from the trembling of their event horizons (R=2M). Further, the tentative evidences for late time echoes in GWs might be signatures of horizonless compact objects rather than vacuum black holes (BHs). Similarly, even for an ideal BH, the radius of its shadow is R_shad = \sqrt{3}Rp is actually the gravitationally lensed shadow of its photon sphere. Accordingly any compact object having R \geq R = 3M would generate similar shadow. Thus, no observation has ever detected any event horizon or any exact BH. Also note that the magnetic field embedded in the accreting plasma close to the compact object is expected to have a radial pattern of B \sim 1/r while the stronger BHM dipole magnetic field should fall off as B \sim 1/r3. Accordingly it has been suggested that one may try to infer the true nature of the so-called astrophysical BHs by studying the radial pattern of the magnetic field in their vicinity. But here we highlight that close to the surface of BHMs, the magnetic field pattern differs significantly from the same for non-relativistic dipoles. In particular, we point out that for ultra-compact BHMs, the polar field is weaker than the equatorial field by an extremely large factor of \sim z_s/lnz_s, where z_s>>1 is the surface gravitational redshift. We suggest that by studying the of radial variation as well as significant angular asymmetry of magnetic field structure near the compact object, future observations might differentiate a theoretical black hole from a astrophysical BH mimicker. This study also shows that even if some BHMs would be hypothesized to possess magnetic fields even stronger than that of magnetars, in certain cases, they may effectively behave as atoll type neutron stars possessing extremely low magnetic fields., Comment: 28 pages, 2 figures, final version matching the one published in Astrophysics and Space Science

We investigate warm inflationary scenario in which the accelerated expansion of the early Universe is driven by chameleon-like scalar fields. Due to the non-minimal coupling between the scalar field and the matter sector, the energy-momentum tensor of each fluid component is not conserved anymore, and the generalized balance equation is obtained. The new source term in the energy equation can be used to model warm inflation. On the other hand, if the coupling function varies slowly, the model reduces to the standard model used for the description of cold inflation. To test the validity of the warm chameleon inflation model, the results for warm inflationary scenarios are compared with the observational Planck2018 Cosmic Microwave Background data. In this regard, the perturbation parameters such as the amplitude of scalar perturbations, the scalar spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio are derived at the horizon crossing in two approximations, corresponding to the weak and strong dissipative regimes. As a general result it turns out that the theoretical predictions of the chameleon warm inflationary scenario are consistent with the Planck 2018 observations., Comment: 31 pages, 8 figures

Near-memory Computing (NMC) promises improved performance for the applications that can exploit the features of emerging memory technologies such as 3D-stacked memory. However, it is not trivial to find such applications and specialized tools are needed to identify them. In this paper, we present PISA-NMC, which extends a state-of-the-art hardware agnostic profiling tool with metrics concerning memory and parallelism, which are relevant for NMC. The metrics include memory entropy, spatial locality, data-level, and basic-block-level parallelism. By profiling a set of representative applications and correlating the metrics with the application's performance on a simulated NMC system, we verify the importance of those metrics. Finally, we demonstrate which metrics are useful in identifying applications suitable for NMC architectures.

We received an Honorable Mention at the Gravity Research Foundation 2018 Awards for Essays on Gravitation by showing that a correct general relativistic interpretation of the Mossbauer rotor experiment represents a new, strong and independent, proof of Einstein's general theory relativity (GTR). Here we correct a mistake which was present in our previous computations on this important issue by deriving a rigorous computation of the additional effect of clock synchronization.
