During the first half of the fourth observing run (O4a) of the International Gravitational Wave Network (IGWN), the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) conducted a systematic search for kilonova (KN) counterparts to binary neutron star (BNS) and neutron star-black hole (NSBH) merger candidates. Here, we present a comprehensive study of the five high-significance (FAR < 1 per year) BNS and NSBH candidates in O4a. Our follow-up campaigns relied on both target-of-opportunity observations (ToO) and re-weighting of the nominal survey schedule to maximize coverage. We describe the toolkit we have been developing, Fritz, an instance of SkyPortal, instrumental in coordinating and managing our telescope scheduling, candidate vetting, and follow-up observations through a user-friendly interface. ZTF covered a total of 2841 deg$^2$ within the skymaps of the high-significance GW events, reaching a median depth of g~20.2 mag. We circulated 15 candidates, but found no viable KN counterpart to any of the GW events. Based on the ZTF non-detections of the high-significance events in O4a, we used a Bayesian approach, nimbus, to quantify the posterior probability of KN model parameters that are consistent with our non-detections. Our analysis favors KNe with initial absolute magnitude fainter than -16 mag. The joint posterior probability of a GW170817-like KN associated with all our O4a follow-ups was 64%. Additionally, we use a survey simulation software, simsurvey, to determine that our combined filtered efficiency to detect a GW170817-like KN is 36%, when considering the 5 confirmed astrophysical events in O3 (1 BNS and 4 NSBH), along with our O4a follow-ups. Following Kasliwal et al. (2020), we derived joint constraints on the underlying KN luminosity function based on our O3 and O4a follow-ups, determining that no more than 76% of KNe fading at 1 mag/day can peak at a magnitude brighter than -17.5 mag., Comment: submitted

This article showcases a personal decision support tool (PDST) called HOPLITE, for performing insightful and actionable quantitative assessments of hospital capacity, to support hospital planners and health care managers. The tool is user-friendly and intuitive, automates tasks, provides instant reporting, and is extensible. It has been developed as an Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) due to its perceived ease of deployment, ease of use, Office's vast installed userbase, and extensive legacy in business. The methodology developed in this article bridges the gap between mathematical theory and practice, which our inference suggests, has restricted the uptake and or development of advanced hospital planning tools and software. To the best of our knowledge, no personal decision support tool (PDST) has yet been created and installed within any existing hospital IT systems, to perform the aforementioned tasks. This article demonstrates that the development of a PDST for hospitals is viable and that optimization methods can be embedded quite simply at no cost. The results of extensive development and testing indicate that HOPLITE can automate many nuanced tasks. Furthermore, there are few limitations and only minor scalability issues with the application of free to use optimization software. The functionality that HOPLITE provides may make it easier to calibrate hospitals strategically and/or tactically to demands. This article introduces analytical techniques and a decision support tool to support capacity assessment and case mix planning (CMP) approaches previously created for hospitals. First, an optimization model is proposed to analyse the impact of making a change to an existing case mix. This model identifies how other patient types should be altered proportionately to the changing levels of hospital resource availability. Then we propose multi-objective decision-making techniques to compare and critique competing case mix solutions obtained. The proposed techniques are embedded seamlessly within an Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) personal decision support tool (PDST), for performing informative quantitative assessments of hospital capacity. The PDST reports informative metrics of difference and reports the impact of case mix modifications on the other types of patient present. Various medical and surgical units operate in a typical hospital and to treat their patients these units compete for infrastructure like operating rooms (OR) and ward beds. How that competition is regulated affects the capacity and output of a hospital. This article considers the impact of treating different patient case mix (PCM) in a hospital. As each case mix has an economic consequence and a unique profile of hospital resource usage, this consideration is important. To better understand the case mix landscape and to identify those which are optimal from a capacity utilisation perspective, an improved multicriteria optimization (MCO) approach is proposed. As there are many patient types in a typical hospital, the task of generating an archive of non-dominated (i.e., Pareto optimal) case mix is computationally challenging. To generate a better archive, an improved parallelised epsilon constraint method (ECM) is introduced. Our parallel random corrective approach is significantly faster than prior methods and is not restricted to evaluating points on a structured uniform mesh. As such we can generate more solutions. The application of KD-Trees is another new contribution. We use them to perform proximity testing and to store the high dimensional Pareto frontier (PF). A new approach to perform hospital case-mix planning (CMP) is introduced in this article. Our multi-criteria approach utilises utility functions (UF) to articulate the preferences and standpoint of independent decision makers regarding outputs. The primary aim of this article is to test whether a utility functions method (UFM) based upon the scalarization of aforesaid UF is an appropriate quantitative technique to, i) distribute hospital resources to different operating units, and ii) provide a better capacity allocation and case mix. Our approach is motivated by the need to provide a method able to evaluate the trade-off between different stakeholders and objectives of hospitals. To the best of our knowledge, no such approach has been considered before in the literature. As we will later show, this idea addresses various technical limitations, weaknesses, and flaws in current CMP. The efficacy of the aforesaid approach is tested on a case study of a large tertiary hospital. Currently UF are not used by hospital managers, and real functions are unavailable, hence, 14 rational options are tested. Our exploratory analysis has provided important guidelines for the application of these UF. It indicates that these UF provide a valuable starting point for planners, managers, and executives of hospitals to impose their goals and aspirations. In conclusion, our approach may be better at identifying case mix that users want to treat and seems more capable of modelling the varying importance of different levels of output. We investigate the variation in the upper end of stellar initial mass function (uIMF) in 375 young and compact star clusters in five nearby galaxies within $\sim 5$ Mpc. All the young stellar clusters (YSCs) in the sample have ages $\lesssim 4$ Myr and masses above 500 $M_{\odot}$, according to standard stellar models. The YSC catalogs were produced from Hubble Space Telescope images obtained as part of the Legacy ExtraGalactic UV Survey (LEGUS) Hubble treasury program. They are used here to test whether the uIMF is universal or changes as a function of the cluster's stellar mass. We perform this test by measuring the H$\alpha$ luminosity of the star clusters as a proxy for their ionizing photon rate, and charting its trend as a function of cluster mass. Large cluster numbers allow us to mitigate the stochastic sampling of the uIMF. The advantage of our approach relative to previous similar attempts is the use of cluster catalogs that have been selected independently of the presence of H$\alpha$ emission, thus removing a potential sample bias. We find that the uIMF, as traced by the H$\alpha$ emission, shows no dependence on cluster mass, suggesting that the maximum stellar mass that can be produced in star clusters is universal, in agreement with previous findings.

The absence of transparency and explainability hinders the clinical adoption of Machine learning (ML) algorithms. Although various methods of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) have been suggested, there is a lack of literature that delves into their practicality and assesses them based on criteria that could foster trust in clinical environments. To address this gap this study evaluates two popular XAI methods used for explaining predictive models in the healthcare context in terms of whether they (i) generate domain-appropriate representation, i.e. coherent with respect to the application task, (ii) impact clinical workflow and (iii) are consistent. To that end, explanations generated at the cohort and patient levels were analysed. The paper reports the first benchmarking of the XAI methods applied to risk prediction models obtained by evaluating the concordance between generated explanations and the trigger of a future clinical deterioration episode recorded by the data collection system. We carried out an analysis using two Electronic Medical Records (EMR) datasets sourced from Australian major hospitals. The findings underscore the limitations of state-of-the-art XAI methods in the clinical context and their potential benefits. We discuss these limitations and contribute to the theoretical development of trustworthy XAI solutions where clinical decision support guides the choice of intervention by suggesting the pattern or drivers for clinical deterioration in the future.

Understanding the receptivity of hypersonic flows to free-stream disturbances is crucial for predicting laminar to turbulent boundary layer transition. Input-output analysis as a receptivity tool considers which free-stream disturbances lead to the largest response from the boundary layer using the global linear dynamics. Two technical challenges are addressed. First, we extend recent work by Kamal et al. (Kamal, 2023) and restrict the allowable forcing to physically realizable inputs via a free-stream boundary modification to the classic input-output formulation. Second, we develop a hierarchical input-output (H-IO) analysis which allows us to solve the three-dimensional problem at a fraction of the computational cost otherwise associated with directly inverting the fully three-dimensional resolvent operator. Next, we consider Mach 5.8 flows over a sharp cone and two blunt cones with 3.6 mm and 7.2 mm spherically blunt tips. H-IO correctly predicts that the sharp cone boundary layer is most receptive to slow acoustic waves at an optimal incidence angle of 10 degrees, validating the method. We then investigate the effect of free-stream disturbances on the blunt cone boundary layer, and identify two distinct vorticity-dominated receptivity mechanisms for the oblique first mode instability at 10 kHz and an entropy layer instability at 40 and 70 kHz. Our results reveal these receptivity processes to be highly three-dimensional in nature, involving both the nose-tip and excitation along narrow bands at certain azimuthal angles along the oblique shock downstream. We interpret these processes in terms of critical angles from linear shock/perturbation interaction theory. Finally, we show how these novel receptivity processes vary with frequency and nose tip bluntness, and demonstrate how this methodology might be applied to transition prediction from first principles., Comment: Submitted to Physical Review Fluids

SN 1987A was an unusual hydrogen-rich core-collapse supernova originating from a blue supergiant star. Similar blue supergiant explosions remain a small family of events, and are broadly characterized by their long rises to peak. The Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) Census of the Local Universe (CLU) experiment aims to construct a spectroscopically complete sample of transients occurring in galaxies from the CLU galaxy catalog. We identify 13 long-rising (>40 days) Type II supernovae from the volume-limited CLU experiment during a 3.5 year period from June 2018 to December 2021, approximately doubling the previously known number of these events. We present photometric and spectroscopic data of these 13 events, finding peak r-band absolute magnitudes ranging from -15.6 to -17.5 mag and the tentative detection of Ba II lines in 9 events. Using our CLU sample of events, we derive a long-rising Type II supernova rate of $1.37^{+0.26}_{-0.30}\times10^{-6}$ Mpc$^{-3}$ yr$^{-1}$, $\approx$1.4% of the total core-collapse supernova rate. Nearly all current simulations predict that outcomes of the star formation process, such as the fraction of stars that form in bound clusters (Gamma), depend on the intensity of star formation activity (SigmaSFR) in the host galaxy. The exact shape and strength of the predicted correlations, however, vary from simulation to simulation. Observational results also remain unclear at this time, because most works have mixed estimates made from very young clusters for galaxies with higher SigmaSFR with those from older clusters for galaxies with lower SigmaSFR. The three blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxies ESO185-IG13, ESO338-IG04, and Haro11 have played a central role on the observational side because they have some of the highest known SigmaSFR and published values of Gamma. We present new estimates of Gamma for these BCDs in three age intervals (1-10 Myr, 10-100 Myr, 100-400 Myr), based on age-dating which includes Halpha photometry to better discriminate between clusters younger and older than ~10 Myr. We find significantly lower values for Gamma (1-10 Myr) than published previously. The likely reason for the discrepancy is that previous estimates appear to be based on age-reddening results that underestimated ages and overestimated reddening for many clusters, artificially boosting Gamma (1-10 Myr). We also find that fewer stars remain in clusters over time, with ~15-39% in 1-10 Myr, ~5-7% in 10-100 Myr, and ~1-2% in 100-400 Myr clusters. We find no evidence that Gamma increases with SigmaSFR. These results imply that cluster formation efficiency does not vary with star formation intensity in the host galaxy. One of the open questions following the discovery of GW170817 is whether neutron star mergers are the only astrophysical sites capable of producing $r$-process elements. Simulations have shown that 0.01-0.1M$_\odot$ of $r$-process material could be generated in the outflows originating from the accretion disk surrounding the rapidly rotating black hole that forms as a remnant to both neutron star mergers and collapsing massive stars associated with long-duration gamma-ray bursts (collapsars). The hallmark signature of $r$-process nucleosynthesis in the binary neutron star merger GW170817 was its long-lasting near-infrared emission, thus motivating a systematic photometric study of the light curves of broadlined stripped-envelope (Ic-BL) supernovae (SNe) associated with collapsars. We present the first systematic study of 25 SNe Ic-BL -- including 18 observed with the Zwicky Transient Facility and 7 from the literature -- in the optical/near-infrared bands to determine what quantity of $r$-process material, if any, is synthesized in these explosions. Using semi-analytic models designed to account for $r$-process production in SNe Ic-BL, we perform light curve fitting to derive constraints on the $r$-process mass for these SNe. We also perform independent light curve fits to models without $r$-process. We find that the $r$-process-free models are a better fit to the light curves of the objects in our sample. Thus we find no compelling evidence of $r$-process enrichment in any of our objects. Further high-cadence infrared photometric studies and nebular spectroscopic analysis would be sensitive to smaller quantities of $r$-process ejecta mass or indicate whether all collapsars are completely devoid of $r$-process nucleosynthesis., Comment: 37 pages, 8 figures, 4 tables

Luminous red novae (LRNe) are transients characterized by low luminosities and expansion velocities, and are associated with mergers or common envelope ejections in stellar binaries. Intermediate-luminosity red transients (ILRTs) are an observationally similar class with unknown origins, but generally believed to either be electron capture supernovae (ECSN) in super-AGB stars, or outbursts in dusty luminous blue variables (LBVs). In this paper, we present a systematic sample of 8 LRNe and 8 ILRTs detected as part of the Census of the Local Universe (CLU) experiment on the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF). The CLU experiment spectroscopically classifies ZTF transients associated with nearby ($<150$ Mpc) galaxies, achieving 80% completeness for m$_{r}<20$\,mag. Using the ZTF-CLU sample, we derive the first systematic LRNe volumetric-rate of 7.8$^{+6.5}_{-3.7}\times10^{-5}$ Mpc$^{-3}$ yr$^{-1}$ in the luminosity range $-16\leq$M$_{\rm{r}}$$\leq -11$ mag. We find that in this luminosity range, the LRN rate scales as dN/dL $\propto L^{-2.5\pm0.3}$ - significantly steeper than the previously derived scaling of $L^{-1.4\pm0.3}$ for lower luminosity LRNe (M$_{V}\geq-10$). The steeper power law for LRNe at high luminosities is consistent with the massive merger rates predicted by binary population synthesis models. We find that the rates of the brightest LRNe (M$_{r}\leq-13$ mag) are consistent with a significant fraction of them being progenitors of double compact objects (DCOs) that merge within a Hubble time. For ILRTs, we derive a volumetric rate of $2.6^{+1.8}_{-1.4}\times10^{-6}$ Mpc$^{-3}$yr$^{-1}$ for M$_{\rm{r}}\leq-13.5$, that scales as dN/dL $\propto L^{-2.5\pm0.5}$. The NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED) is a comprehensive online service that combines fundamental multi-wavelength information for known objects beyond the Milky Way and provides value-added, derived quantities and tools to search and access the data. The contents and relationships between measurements in the database are continuously augmented and revised to stay current with astrophysics literature and new sky surveys. The conventional process of distilling and extracting data from the literature involves human experts to review the journal articles and determine if an article is of extragalactic nature, and if so, what types of data it contains. This is both labor intensive and unsustainable, especially given the ever-increasing number of publications each year. We present here a machine learning (ML) approach developed and integrated into the NED production pipeline to help automate the classification of journal article topics and their data content for inclusion into NED. We show that this ML application can successfully reproduce the classifications of a human expert to an accuracy of over 90% in a fraction of the time it takes a human, allowing us to focus human expertise on tasks that are more difficult to automate., Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, 6 tables

We present a pilot library of synthetic NUV, U, B, V, and I photometry of star clusters with stochastically sampled IMFs and ionized gas for initial masses, $M_i=10^3$, $10^4$, and $10^5$ M$_{\odot}$; $t=1$, 3, 4, and 8 Myr; $Z=0.014$ and $Z=0.002$; and log(U$_{\rm S}$) =-2 and -3. We compare the library with predictions from deterministic models and observations of isolated low-mass ($<10^4$ M$_{\odot}$) star clusters with co-spatial compact H\2 regions. The clusters are located in NGC 7793, one of the nearest galaxies observed as part of the \hst LEGUS and H$\alpha$-LEGUS surveys. 1) For model magnitudes that only account for the stars: a) the residual |deterministic mag - median stochastic mag| can be $\ge0.5$ mag, even for $M_i=10^5$ M$_{\odot}$; and b) the largest spread in stochastic magnitudes occurs when Wolf-Rayet stars are present. 2) For $M_i=10^5$ M$_{\odot}$: a) the median stochastic mag with gas can be $>$1.0 mag more luminous than the median stochastic magnitude without gas; and b) nebular emission lines can contribute with $>50\%$ and $>30\%$ to the total emission in the V and I bands, respectively. 3) Age-dating OB-star clusters via deterministic tracks in the U-B vs. V-I plane is highly uncertain at $Z=0.014$ for $M_i\sim10^3$ M$_{\odot}$ and $Z=0.002$ for $M_i\sim10^3-10^5$ M$_{\odot}$. 4) For low-mass clusters, the V-band extinction derived with stochastic models significantly depends on the value of log(U$_{\rm S}$). 5) The youngest clusters tend to have higher extinction. 6) The majority of clusters have multi-peaked age PDFs. 7) Finally, we discuss the importance of characterising the true variance in the number of stars per mass bin in nature.

Stellar feedback in dwarf galaxies plays a critical role in regulating star formation via galaxy-scale winds. Recent hydrodynamical zoom simulations of dwarf galaxies predict that the periodic outward flow of gas can change the gravitational potential sufficiently to cause radial migration of stars. To test the effect of bursty star formation on stellar migration, we examine star formation observables and sizes of 86 local dwarf galaxies. We find a correlation between the R-band half-light radius (R$_e$) and far-UV luminosity (L$_{FUV}$) for stellar masses below 10$^8 $ M$_{\odot}$ and a weak correlation between the R$_e$ and H$\alpha$ luminosity (L$_{H\alpha}$). We produce mock observations of eight low-mass galaxies from the FIRE-2 cosmological simulations and measure the similarity of the time sequences of R$_e$ and a number of star formation indicators with different timescales. Major episodes of R$_e$ time sequence align very well with the major episodes of star formation, with a delay of $\sim$ 50 Myrs. This correlation decreases towards SFR indicators of shorter timescales such that $R_e$ is weakly correlated with L$_{FUV}$ (10-100 Myr timescale) and is completely uncorrelated with L$_{H\alpha}$ (a few Myr timescale), in agreement with the observations. Our findings based on FIRE-2 suggest that the R-band size of a galaxy reacts to star formation variations on a $\sim50$ Myr timescale. We use the angular Two Point Correlation Function (TPCF) to investigate the hierarchical distribution of young star clusters in 12 local (3--18 Mpc) star-forming galaxies using star cluster catalogues obtained with the \textit{Hubble Space Telescope} (\textit{HST}) as part of the Treasury Program LEGUS (Legacy ExtraGalactic UV Survey). The sample spans a range of different morphological types, allowing us to infer how the physical properties of the galaxy affect the spatial distribution of the clusters. We also prepare a range of physically motivated toy models to compare with and interpret the observed features in the TPCFs. We find that, conforming to earlier studies, young clusters ($T \la 10\, \mathrm{Myr}$) have power-law TPCFs that are characteristic of fractal distributions with a fractal dimension $D_2$, and this scale-free nature extends out to a maximum scale $l_{\mathrm{corr}}$ beyond which the distribution becomes Poissonian. However, $l_{\mathrm{corr}}$, and $D_2$ vary significantly across the sample, and are correlated with a number of host galaxy physical properties, suggesting that there are physical differences in the underlying star cluster distributions. We also find that hierarchical structuring weakens with age, evidenced by flatter TPCFs for older clusters ($T \ga 10\, \mathrm{Myr}$), that eventually converges to the residual correlation expected from a completely random large-scale radial distribution of clusters in the galaxy in $\sim 100 \, \mathrm{Myr}$. Our study demonstrates that the hierarchical distribution of star clusters evolves with age, and is strongly dependent on the properties of the host galaxy environment., Comment: 19 pages, 8 figures. We present an overview of best practices for publishing data in astronomy and astrophysics journals. These recommendations are intended as a reference for authors to help prepare and publish data in a way that will better represent and support science results, enable better data sharing, improve reproducibility, and enhance the reusability of data. Observance of these guidelines will also help to streamline the extraction, preservation, integration and cross-linking of valuable data from astrophysics literature into major astronomical databases, and consequently facilitate new modes of science discovery that will better exploit the vast quantities of panchromatic and multi-dimensional data associated with the literature. We encourage authors, journal editors, referees, and publishers to implement the best practices reviewed here, as well as related recommendations from international astronomical organizations such as the International Astronomical Union (IAU) for publication of nomenclature, data, and metadata. A convenient Checklist of Recommendations for Publishing Data in the Literature is included for authors to consult before the submission of the final version of their journal articles and associated data files. The Clusters, Clumps, Dust, and Gas in Extreme Star-Forming Galaxies (CCDG) survey with the Hubble Space Telescope includes multi-wavelength imaging of 13 galaxies less than 100 Mpc away spanning a range of morphologies and sizes, from Blue Compact Dwarfs (BCDs) to luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs), all with star formation rates in excess of hundreds of solar masses per year. Images of 7 merging galaxies in the CCDG survey were artificially redshifted to compare with galaxies at z=0.5, 1, and 2. Most redshifted tails have surface brightnesses that would be visible at z=0.5 or 1 but not at z=2 due to cosmological dimming. Giant star clumps are apparent in these galaxies; the 51 measured have similar sizes, masses and colors as clumps in observed high-z systems in UDF, GEMS, GOODS, and CANDELS surveys. These results suggest that some clumpy high-z galaxies without observable tidal features could be the result of mergers. The local clumps also have the same star formation rate per unit area and stellar surface density as clumps observed at intermediate and high redshift, so they provide insight into the substructure of distant clumps. A total of 1596 star clusters brighter than MV = -9 were identified within the boundaries of the local clumps. The cluster magnitude distribution function is a power law with approximately the same slope (approximately -1 for a number-log luminosity plot) for all the galaxies both inside and outside the clumps and independent of clump surface brightness., Comment: 32 pages, 17 figures, 2 tables

Interaction-powered supernovae (SNe) explode within an optically-thick circumstellar medium (CSM) that could be ejected during eruptive events. To identify and characterize such pre-explosion outbursts we produce forced-photometry light curves for 196 interacting SNe, mostly of Type IIn, detected by the Zwicky Transient Facility between early 2018 and June 2020. Extensive tests demonstrate that we only expect a few false detections among the 70,000 analyzed pre-explosion images after applying quality cuts and bias corrections. We detect precursor eruptions prior to 18 Type IIn SNe and prior to the Type Ibn SN2019uo. Precursors become brighter and more frequent in the last months before the SN and month-long outbursts brighter than magnitude -13 occur prior to 25% (5 - 69%, 95% confidence range) of all Type IIn SNe within the final three months before the explosion. With radiative energies of up to $10^{49}\,\text{erg}$, precursors could eject $\sim1\,\text{M}_\odot$ of material. Nevertheless, SNe with detected precursors are not significantly more luminous than other SNe IIn and the characteristic narrow hydrogen lines in their spectra typically originate from earlier, undetected mass-loss events. The long precursor durations require ongoing energy injection and they could, for example, be powered by interaction or by a continuum-driven wind. Instabilities during the neon and oxygen burning phases are predicted to launch precursors in the final years to months before the explosion; however, the brightest precursor is 100 times more energetic than anticipated.

The first binary neutron star merger, GW170817, was accompanied by a radioactivity-powered optical/infrared transient called a kilonova. To date, no compelling kilonova has been found during optical surveys of the sky, independent of gravitational-wave triggers. In this work, we searched the first 23 months of the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) data stream for candidate kilonovae in the form of rapidly evolving transients. We combined ZTF alert queries with forced point-spread-function photometry and nightly flux stacking to increase our sensitivity to faint and fast transients. Automatic queries yielded $>11,200$ candidates, 24 of which passed quality checks and strict selection criteria based on a grid of kilonova models tailored for both binary neutron star and neutron star-black hole mergers. None of the candidates in our sample was deemed a possible kilonova after thorough vetting, catalog cross-matching, and study of their color evolution. The sources that passed our selection criteria are dominated by Galactic cataclysmic variables. In addition, we identified two fast transients at high Galactic latitude, one of which is the confirmed afterglow of long-duration GRB190106A, and the other is a possible cosmological afterglow. Using a survey simulation code, we constrained the kilonova rate for a range of models including top-hat and linearly decaying light curves and synthetic light curves obtained with radiative transfer simulations. For prototypical GW170817-like kilonovae, we constrain the rate to be $R < 1775$ Gpc$^{-3}$ yr$^{-1}$ at 95% confidence level by requiring at least 2 high-significance detections. By assuming a population of kilonovae with the same geometry and composition of GW170817 observed under a uniform viewing angle distribution, we obtained a constraint on the rate of $R < 4029$ Gpc$^{-3}$ yr$^{-1}$., Comment: Submitted for publication in ApJ
