Bucaramanga es el polo de desarrollo del nororiente de Colombia; en ella el sector Ciudadela Real de Minas es una zona residencial altamente poblada y condensada. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo establecer las líneas estratégicas de acción para la adaptación y mitigación de los impactos asociados al cambio climático en dicho sector. Se tomaron como referencias las experiencias de gestión ambiental en ciudades de Europa, Suramérica y Colombia, cuya respuesta a la incidencia del cambio climático coincidiera con los elementos urbanos presentes en el enfoque de gestión territorial para contrarrestarlo en Colombia, tales como la gestión de residuos sólidos, protección y mejoramiento de las zonas verdes, mejora de la movilidad y la calidad del aire, parámetros ambientales para nuevas construcciones, y procesos de educación ambiental. Sobre esta base se diseñaron e implementaron las líneas estratégicas contextualizadas a las particularidades de la ciudadela. Se concluye que, la gestión ambiental urbana desarrolla focos de respuesta al cambio climático, por lo que su aplicación en el sector de estudio fortalece las acciones de adaptación y mitigación en ejecución, para trasformar física y socialmente el entorno y las condiciones de vida de los habitantes; las cuales pueden ser replicadas en toda la ciudad.

Corky disorders in apples represent a significant problem for long-term storage where controlled atmosphere (CA) is mainly used. Ultra-low oxygen (ULO) is an alternative to CA, which consists of low partial pressure of O2 to maintain a low metabolism in the apple fruit, achieving an effective decrease in the ethylene production and physiological disorders. The aim of this research was to study the effectiveness of a short hypoxia period on the development of cork physiological disorders during the storage of apple. ‘Fuji’ apples were prestored under ULO (0.5 kPa O2) for two periods of time (15 and 30 days) and at two temperatures (0 or 5°C). Corky physiological disorders increased at 5°C prestorage temperature; however, ULO treatments for 15 or 30 days at 0 or 5°C achieved a significant reduction in corky disorders near to 1%, compared with control treatments. In addition, a considerable reduction in ethylene production for up to 30 days was observed in ULO-treated fruit at 0 and 5°C. ULO for 30 days at 0 and 5°C increased the internal production of ethanol and acetaldehyde, causing a lower sensory quality due to the presence of fermentative flavors in fruit stored at 5°C. ULO of 15 days of conditioning decreased the relative expression of ethylene biosynthesis genes MdACS1 and MdACO1, resulting in lower ethylene production.

This article shows a study about the user satisfaction of their information needs related to the web page of the Graduate School of Information Sciences and Technology of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. To obtain information, the researchers used the interview through focal groups with two audiences: students and graduated. According to the findings there is a need to redesign the web page to include more information for students, graduates, and prospects.

Purpose The COVID-19 pandemic has many potential impacts on people with mental health conditions and on mental health care, including direct consequences of infection, effects of infection control measures and subsequent societal changes. We aimed to map early impacts of the pandemic on people with pre-existing mental health conditions and services they use, and to identify individual and service-level strategies adopted to manage these. Methods We searched for relevant material in the public domain published before 30 April 2020, including papers in scientific and professional journals, published first person accounts, media articles, and publications by governments, charities and professional associations. Search languages were English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. Relevant content was retrieved and summarised via a rapid qualitative framework synthesis approach. Results We found 872 eligible sources from 28 countries. Most documented observations and experiences rather than reporting research data. We found many reports of deteriorations in symptoms, and of impacts of loneliness and social isolation and of lack of access to services and resources, but sometimes also of resilience, effective self-management and peer support. Immediate service challenges related to controlling infection, especially in inpatient and residential settings, and establishing remote working, especially in the community. We summarise reports of swiftly implemented adaptations and innovations, but also of pressing ethical challenges and concerns for the future. Conclusion Our analysis captures the range of stakeholder perspectives and experiences publicly reported in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in several countries. We identify potential foci for service planning and research.

En este trabajo se presenta una síntesis de las investigaciones arqueológicas desarrolladas desde hace más de tres décadas en el noreste de la provincia de Santa Cruz, en la Patagonia Argentina. Los estudios se realizaron principalmente en espacios litorales marinos, en particular en el área que denominamos costa norte de Santa Cruz. El análisis de diferentes evidencias arqueológicas permitió caracterizar a las poblaciones humanas prehistóricas que habitaron esta área. Se trata de grupos cazadores-recolectores que se asentaban tanto en las cercanías del litoral atlántico como en el territorio interior, por lo que aprovechaban recursos marinos y terrestres en el marco de circuitos amplios de movilidad. Background The treatment of choice of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) is an induction with proteasome inhibitors followed autologous stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Since 2013, the treatment of these patients in the public system is based on CTD (cyclophosphamide, thalidomide, and dexamethasone). Aim To evaluate the response rates achieved with CTD, and the results of HSCT in patients with NDMM in the public setting. Material and Methods Data from patients considered as candidates for HSCT from different centers of the National Adult Antineoplastic Drug Program (PANDA, for its acronym in Spanish), diagnosed between 2013 and 2017, was analyzed. The response to treatment of first and second lines of treatment was evaluated, in addition to the results of HSCT. An optimal Response was defined as the sum of strict complete remission, complete remission and very good partial response (sCR, CR and VGPR). Results One hundred and seventy-seven patients were analyzed, 54% women, and 53% with IgG multiple myeloma. Information about the international staging system was retrieved in 127 patients (71%). Seventeen percent were ISS I, 22% in ISS II and 32% ISS III. CTD was used as first treatment in 106 patients (60%), and cyclophosphamide, bortezomib and dexamethasone (CyBorD) in 13 (7%). As first line, CTD had an overall response of 50.9%, and CyBorD of 76.9%. Thirty patients were treated with bortezomib as second line treatment. Forty patients (22%) underwent HSCT. The 5-year Overall Survival (OS) in transplanted patients and non-transplanted patients was 100 and 62% respectively (p < 0.01). Conclusions The response rate achieved by CTD in these patients is suboptimal. The response to CyBorD was better.
