Abstract

International audience; The development of a single-fluid solver supporting phase-change and able to capture the evolution of three fluids, two of which are miscible, into the sharp interface capturing Volume of Fluid (VOF) approximation, is presented. The transport of each phase-fraction is solved independently by a flux-corrected transport method to ensure the boundedness of the void fraction over the domain. The closure of the system of equations is achieved by a cavitation model, that handles the phase change between the liquid and the fuel vapor and it also accounts for the interaction with the non-condensable gases. Boundedness and conservativeness of the solver in the transport of the volume fraction are verified on two numerical benchmarks: a two-dimensional bubble rising in a liquid column and a cavitating/condensing liquid column. Finally, numerical predictions from large-eddy simulations are compared against experimental results available from literature; in particular, validation against high-speed camera visualizations and Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) measurements of cavitating microscopic in-nozzle flows in a fuel injector is reported.

Abstract

International audience; Critical embedded systems are generally composed of repetitive tasks that must meet drastic timing constraints, such as termination deadlines. Providing an upper bound of the worst-case execution time (WCET) of such tasks at design time is thus necessary to prove the correctness of the system. Static timing analysis methods compute safe WCET upper bounds, but at the cost of a potentially large over-approximation. Over-approximation may come from the fact that WCET analysis may consider as potential worst-cases some executions that are actually infeasible, because of the semantics of the program and/or because they correspond to unrealistic inputs. In this paper, we introduce a complete semantic-aware WCET estimation workflow. We introduce some program analysis to find infeasible paths: they can be performed at design, C or binary level, and may take into account information provided by the user. We design an annotation-aware compilation process that enables to trace the infeasible path properties through the program transformations performed by the compilers. Finally, we adapt the WCET estimation tool to take into account the kind of annotations produced by the workflow.

Abstract

MIMIKS (Multimodal Interface Knowledge Management) est un projet usine du futur. Il vise à créer un outil de recueil du savoir-faire des experts au travail dans un contexte industriel. L’objectif de l’équipe de recherche est de mobiliser les différentes modalités d’interactions (capture vidéo, dialogue homme/machine…) afin de simuler des techniques d’élicitations permettant d’aider les experts à conscientiser des connaissances qui sont en grandes parties automatisées, et donc, inconscientes. A terme, les connaissances produites par cet outil ont pour but d’aider les novices à réaliser des procédures et à résoudre des problèmes sur ligne. Cet article vise à présenter l’apport de l’ergonomie dans la démarche. Puis nous évoquerons le cadre théorique qui nous a poussés à nous orienter vers une technologie multimodale. MIMIKS (Multimodal Interface Knowledge Management) is a smart factory project. It aims to create a tool to capture expert’s know-how in an industrial context. The research team’s objective is to use different modalities of interaction (video, human/machine dialogue…) to simulate elicitations techniques in order to help experts raise awareness the automated and tacit knowledge. Ultimately, the knowledge generated by this tool is intended to help novices perform procedures and solve problems. This article first aims to present the ergonomics contribution in the process. It will also introduce the theoretical framework that led towards a multi-modal technology.

Abstract

International audience; The industries of transportation as the space industry are faced with a strong global economic competition which sets economic constraints on the cost of the functions. The use of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) components in embedded systems is more and more necessary to shorten the development cycles and reduce manufacturing costs. The application of electronic components comes overwhelmingly from public sectors whose requirement is to provide, in short development cycles, technological innovations including risk and cost mitigation. These development cycles must incorporate the specific constraints of embedded systems in terms of reliability, dependability, and availability, held in harsh environment and life. Due to the low volume of components supplying the market of embedded systems, component manufacturers are unlikely to provide information necessary to supporting folders for certification or qualification. It is therefore necessary for the Space, Aeronautics and Automotive industries to characterize the performance and robustness of these COTS components in the operational and environmental conditions of their applications. This paper presents the objectives and main challenges of a sponsored project dedicated to characterize and model COTS reliability.

Abstract

Highly-configurable systems usually depend on a large number of parameters imposed by both hardware and software configuration. Due to the pessimistic assumptions of WCET analysis, if left unspecified, they deteriorate the quality of WCET analysis. In such a case, supplying the WCET analyzer with additional information about parameters (a scenario), e.g. possible variable ranges or values, allows reducing WCET over-estimation, either by improving the estimate, or by validating the initial estimate for a specific configuration or mode of execution. Nevertheless, exhaustively specifying constraints on all parameters is usually infeasible and identifying relevant ones (i.e. those impacting the WCET) is difficult. To address this issue, we propose the branching statement analysis, which uses a source-based heuristic to compute branch weights and that aims at listing unbalanced conditionals that correspond to system parameters. The goal is to help system-experts identify and formulate concise scenarios about modes or configurations that have a positive impact on the quality of the WCET analysis.

Abstract

International audience; The scheduling of real-time systems requires knowing the Worst Case Execution Time (WCET) of their tasks. WCET analysers compute timings by analysis of the low level behaviour of the target task. This document presents improvements in the WCET computation allowed by taking into account high level behaviours of the tasks. We first classify high level knowledge according to the relevance with respect to WCET estimation. We then propose a systematic method to bring this information back to the low level on which operate most WCET analysers. This approach separates the concerns of stating properties, integrating properties and computing a WCET aware of these properties.
