We consider the six-dimensional dynamical system in three components introduced by Ryan to describe the scenario of Belinskii, Khalatnikov and Lifshitz to the cosmological singularity when the spatial metric tensor is not diagonal. Despite its nonintegrability, recently proven by Goldstein and Piechocki, the three four-dimensional systems defined by canceling one of the three components happen to be integrable. For both cubic and quintic nonlinearities of the one-dimensional complex Ginzburg-Landau evolution equation, we prove by a theorem of Eremenko the finiteness of the number of traveling waves whose squared modulus has only poles in the complex plane, and we provide all their closed form expressions. The various r\'egimes observed in the one-dimensional complex Ginzburg-Landau equation result from the interaction of a very small number of elementary patterns such as pulses, fronts, shocks, holes, sinks. We establish a one-to-one correspondence between,on one hand the four types of transcendental meromorphic solutions of the autonomous Schwarzian differential equations which are elliptic,on the other hand the four binomial equations of Briot and Bouquet possessing an elliptic solution.

We introduce a general third order non-linear autonomous ODE which covers many ODEs coming from boundary layer problems, like the Falkner-Skan equation and the Cheng-Minkowycz equation. Using Wiman-Valiron theory and complex analytic methods recently developed, for the generic cases, it is shown that all their meromorphic solutions must be rational, or rational in one exponential, and then we find all of them explicitly. For a few non-generic cases, some solutions, which are meromorphic or singlevalued, are also obtained. We build analytic surfaces in $\mathbb{R}cubec$ represented by the most general sixth Painlev\'e equation $P_{VI}$ in two steps. Firstly, the moving frame of the surfaces built by Bonnet in 1867 is extrapolated to a new, second order, isomonodromic matrix Lax pair of $P_{VI}$, whose elements depend rationally on the dependent variable and quadratically on the monodromy exponents $\theta_j$. Secondly, by converting back this Lax pair to a moving frame, we obtain an extrapolation of Bonnet surfaces to surfaces with two more degrees of freedom. We perform the analytic study of the the buoyancy-drag equation with a time-dependent acceleration $\gamma(t)$ by two methods. We first determine its equivalence class under the point transformations of Roger Liouville, and thus for some values of $\gamma(t)$ define a time-dependent Hamiltonian from which the buoyancy-drag equation can be derived. We then determine the Lie point symmetries of the buoyancy-drag equation, which only exist for values of $\gamma(t)$ including the previous ones, plus additional classes of accelerations for which the equation is reducible to an Abel equation. In order to describe the coupling between the Kerr nonlinearity and the stimulated Brillouin scattering, Mauger et alii recently proposed a system of partial differential equations in three complex amplitudes. We perform here its analytic study by two methods. The first method is to investigate the structure of singularities, in order to possibly find closed form singlevalued solutions obeying this structure. The second method is to look at the infinitesimal symmetries of the system in order to build reductions to a lesser number of independent variables. Our overall conclusion is that the structure of singularities is too intricate to obtain closed form solutions by the usual methods. We prove that conformally parametrized surfaces in Euclidean space $\Rcubec$ of curvature $c$ admit a symmetry reduction of their Gauss-Codazzi equations whose general solution is expressed with the sixth Painlev\'e function. We give an exact quantitative solution for the motion of three vortices of any strength, which Poincar\'e showed to be integrable. The absolute motion of one vortex is generally biperiodic: in uniformly rotating axes, the motion is periodic. There are two kinds of relative equilibrium configuration: two equilateral triangles and one or three colinear configurations, their stability conditions split the strengths space into three domains in which the sets of trajectories are topologically distinct. According to the values of the strengths and the initial positions, all possible %RC motions are classified. Two sets of strengths lead to generic motions other than biperiodic. First, when the angular momentum vanishes, besides the biperiodic regime there exists an expansion spiral motion and even a triple collision in a finite time, but the latter motion is nongeneric. Second, when two strengths are opposite, the system also exhibits the elastic diffusion of a vortex doublet by the third vortex. For given values of the invariants, the volume of the phase space of this Hamiltonian system is proportional to the period of the reduced motion, a well known result of the theory of adiabatic invariants. In this paper, we study the growth, in terms of the Nevanlinna characteristic function, of meromorphic solutions of three types of second order nonlinear algebraic ordinary differential equations. In evolution equations for a complex amplitude, the phase obeys a much more intricate equation than the amplitude. Nevertheless, general methods should be applicable to both variables. In the system made of Korteweg-de Vries with one source, we first show by applying the Painleve' test that the two components of the source must have the same potential. We consider the dynamical degenerate four-wave mixing (FWM) model in a cubic nonlinear medium including both the time relaxation of the induced nonlinearity and the nonlocal coupling. The initial ten-dimensional FWM system can be rewritten as a three-variable intrinsic system (namely the intensity pattern, the amplitude of the nonlinearity and the total net gain) which is very close to the pumped Maxwell-Bloch system. In the case of a purely nonlocal response the initial system reduces to a real damped sine-Gordon (SG) equation. We obtain a new solution of this equation in the form of a sech function with a time-dependent coefficient. By applying the reductive perturbation method to this damped SG equation, we obtain exactly the cubic complex Ginzburg Landau equation (CGL3), but with a time dependence in the loss/gain coefficient. The dynamical degenerate four-wave mixing is studied analytically in detail. By removing the unessential freedom, we first characterize this system by a lower-dimensional closed subsystem of a deformed Maxwell-Bloch type, involving only three physical variables: the intensity pattern, the dynamical grating amplitude, the relative net gain. We then classify by the Painleve' test all the cases when singlevalued solutions may exist, according to the two essential parameters of the system: the real relaxation time tau, the complex response constant gamma. In addition to the stationary case, the only two integrable cases occur for a purely nonlocal response (Real(gamma)=0), these are the complex unpumped Maxwell-Bloch system and another one, which is explicitly integrated with elliptic functions. In order to find analytically the travelling waves of partially integrable autonomous nonlinear partial differential equations, many methods have been proposed over the ages: "projective Riccati method", "tanh-method", "exponential method", "Jacobi expansion method", "new ...", etc. The common default to all these "truncation methods" is to only provide some solutions, not all of them. By implementing three classical results of Briot, Bouquet and Poincare', we present an algorithm able to provide in closed form \textit{all} those travellingz waves which are elliptic or degenerate elliptic, i.e. rational in one exponential or rational. We consider the anharmonic oscillator with an arbitrary-degree anharmonicity, a damping term and a forcing term, all coefficients being time-dependent: u" + g_1(x) u' + g_2(x) u + g_3(x) u^n + g_4(x) = 0, n real. Its physical applications range from the atomic Thomas-Fermi model to Emden gas dynamics equilibria, the Duffing oscillator and numerous dynamical systems. The present work is an overview which includes and generalizes all previously known results of partial integrability of this oscillator. We give the most general two conditions on the coefficients under which a first integral of a particular type exists. A natural interpretation is given for the two conditions. A system of two discrete nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations of the Ablowitz-Ladik type with a saturable nonlinearity is shown to admit a doubly periodic wave, whose long wave limit is also derived. In order to later find explicit analytic solutions, we investigate the singularity structure of a fundamental model of nonlinear optics, the four-wave mixing model in one space variable z. This structure is quite similar, and this is not a surprise, to that of the cubic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation. A nonlinear coupled system descriptive of multi-ion electrodiffusion is investigated and all parameters for which the system admits a single-valued general solution are isolated. This is achieved \textit{via} a method initiated by Painleve' with the application of a test due to Kowalevski and Gambier. The dependence of the sixth equation of Painleve' on its four parameters $(2 \alpha,-2 \beta,2 \gamma,1-2 \delta) =(\theta_{\infty}^2,\theta_{0}^2,\theta_{1}^2,\theta_{x}^2)$ is holomorphic, therefore one expects all its Lax pairs to display such a dependence. This is indeed the case of the second order scalar ``Lax'' pair of Fuchs, but the second order matrix Lax pair of Jimbo and Miwa presents a meromorphic dependence on $\theta_\infty$ (and a holomorphic dependence on the three other $\theta_j$). Most evolution equations %or wave equations are partially integrable and, in order to explicitly integrate all possible cases, there exist several methods of complex analysis, but none is optimal. The theory of Nevanlinna and Wiman-Valiron on the growth of the meromorphic solutions gives predictions and bounds, but it is not constructive and restricted to meromorphic solutions. The Painleve' approach via the a priori singularities of the solutions gives no bounds but it is often (not always) constructive. It seems that an adequate combination of the two methods could yield much more output in terms of explicit (i.e. closed form) analytic solutions. Time independent Hamiltonians of the physical type H = (P_1^2+P_2^2)/2+V(Q_1,Q_2) pass the Painleve' test for only seven potentials $V$, known as the He'non-Heiles Hamiltonians, each depending on a finite number of free constants. Proving the Painleve' property was not yet achieved for generic values of the free constants. We integrate each missing case by building a birational transformation to some fourth order first degree ordinary differential equation in the classification (Cosgrove, 2000) of such polynomial equations which possess the Painleve' property. The Hirota equation is a higher order extension of the nonlinear Schroedinger equation by incorporating third order dispersion and one form of self steepening effect. New periodic waves for the discrete Hirota equation are given in terms of elliptic functions. We derive two new solutions in terms of elliptic functions, one for the dark and one for the bright soliton regime, for the semi-discrete cubic nonlinear Schroedinger equation of Ablowitz and Ladik. The quartic H\'enon-Heiles Hamiltonian $H = (P_1^2+P_2^2)/2+(\Omega_1 Q_1^2+\Omega_2 Q_2^2)/2 +C Q_1^4+ B Q_1^2 Q_2^2 + A Q_2^4 +(1/2)(\alpha/Q_1^2+\beta/Q_2^2) - \gamma Q_1$ passes the Painlev\'e test for only four sets of values of the constants. Only one of these, identical to the traveling wave reduction of the Manakov system, has been explicitly integrated (Wojciechowski, 1985), while the three others are not yet integrated in the generic case $(\alpha,\beta,\gamma)\not=(0,0,0)$. We integrate them by building a birational transformation to two fourth order first degree equations in the classification (Cosgrove, 2000) of such polynomial equations which possess the Painlev\'e property. This transformation involves the stationary reduction of various partial differential equations (PDEs). The result is the same as for the three cubic H\'enon-Heiles Hamiltonians, namely, in all four quartic cases, a general solution which is meromorphic and hyperelliptic with genus two.
