Generating comprehensive image maps, while preserving spatial three-dimensional (3D) context, is essential in order to locate and assess quantitatively specific cellular features and cell-cell interactions during organ development. Despite recent advances in 3D imaging approaches, our current knowledge of the spatial organization of distinct cell types in the embryonic pancreatic tissue is still largely based on two-dimensional histological sections. Here, we present a light-sheet fluorescence microscopy approach to image the pancreas in three dimensions and map tissue interactions at key time points in the mouse embryo. We demonstrate the utility of the approach by providing volumetric data, 3D distribution of three main cellular components (epithelial, mesenchymal and endothelial cells) within the developing pancreas, and quantification of their relative cellular abundance within the tissue. Interestingly, our 3D images show that endocrine cells are constantly and increasingly in contact with endothelial cells forming small vessels, whereas the interactions with mesenchymal cells decrease over time. These findings suggest distinct cell-cell interaction requirements for early endocrine cell specification and late differentiation. Lastly, we combine our image data in an open-source online repository (referred to as the Pancreas Embryonic Cell Atlas).

We used transgenic mouse models and antibodies to visualize the three main cellular components within the developing pancreas, including epithelial, mesenchymal and endothelial cell populations. We demonstrated the utility of the approach by providing volumetric data, 3D distribution of distinct progenitor populations and quantification of relative cellular abundance within the tissue. Lastly, our image data were combined in an open source online repository (referred to as Pancreas Embryonic Cell Atlas). This image dataset will serve the scientific community by enabling further investigation on pancreas organogenesis but also for devising strategies for the in vitro generation of transplantable pancreatic tissue for regenerative therapies.

Digital media technologies re-pose the question of organization - and thus of power and domination, control and surveillance, disruption and emancipation. This book interrogates organization as effect and condition of media. How can we understand the recursive relationship between media and organization? How can we think, explore, critique - and perhaps alter - the organizational bodies and scripts that shape contemporary life?

By definition, a constitution is “a body of fundamental principles ... according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed. Synonyms: charter, social code, law; bill of rights; rules, regulations, fundamental principles, e.g., “the constitution guarantees our rights’”* Drafting it was a creative and visionary act, during the revolutionary war, “times,” Thomas Paine observed, “that try men’s souls,” words also suited to today’s political climate. But though it was written over 200 years ago, the Constitution is a living document, reviewed, argued over, occasionally amended, continuously. Why is it important, especially in this current moment? Diese ethnografische Studie begleitet den Prozess der Einführung eines SAP-Systems in einem mittelständischen Unternehmen und zeigt, wie das bestehende Geflecht aus Praktiken und Technologien eine Neuanordnung erfährt. Dabei tritt das komplexe soziotechnische Gemenge zutage, auf dem Koordination und Organisation beruhen. Den biologiska mångfalden i världen är akut hotad och är ett av de största problemen inom ekologisk hållbarhet. Inom biologisk mångfald räknas naturligt förekommande pollinerande insekter, vars närvaro minskar. Forskning visar att monotona landskap missgynnar de vilda pollinatörerna. Landskap och odlingar där resurser som föda och boplats erbjuds insekterna ger positiva effekter på deras närvaro och överlevnad. Detta arbete är en utförd litteraturstudie där odlingssystemet alléodling prövas för att se om detta kan påverka de vilda pollinatörerna positivt och gynna deras närvaro i odlingen. Forskningsstudier visar att alléodlingssystem med integrerade häck- eller trädrader i odlingen gynnar de vilda pollinatörerna med pollen och nektar under en stor del av året samt habitat. En testodling, Agroekologisk Intensifiering (AI), på SITES Lönnstorp forskningsstation, och dess växtslag samt tillhörande vilda pollinatörer har undersökts i syfte att se om detta system kan gynna vilda pollinatörer. I systemet finns integrerade äpple- och häckrader i en annuell odling. Häckraden kan definieras att bli av hög kvalitet och systemet bidrar med boplats och en lång succession av blommande växter., Biodiversity all over the globe is threatened and is one of the most alarming problems within environmental sustainability. To the concept of biodiversity wild pollinating insects are included and their presence is on the decline. Research show that simple structured landscape suppresses these wild insects. Landscape and farmland that contributes with resources such as food and habitat promotes the abundance and survival of the wild insects. In this literature study alley cropping is being investigated to see whether this farming system may positively affect the wild pollinators and promote their presence. Research studies show that alley cropping with integrated hedgerows benefits the wild pollinators providing with pollen and nectar for a long period of time. A test site where alley cropping is being investigated, Agroecological Intensification (AI) at SITES Lönnstorp research station, has been studied to see if its integrated tree rows and hedgerows benefit the abundance of wild pollinating insects or not. The hedgerow in this system can be defined as of high quality and it provides with habitat and a long succession of flowering plants.

The MFA in Writing program’s Digital Storytelling course, taught in spring 2016 by Faith Adiele, brought together graduate writers, artists and makers to hone their narrative skills and develop their own digital projects. The Bay Area is the center of electronic and digital literature (literary work created exclusively on and for devices with screens) and storytelling, but while the dazzling technologies may be new, interactive storytelling is one of the earliest forms of human interaction. We explored e-lit's antecedents and traditions, ranging from non-Western traditions like the griot, talk-story, and testimonio, to the democratized oral history movement of the 1970s; from the physicality of Book Arts to platforms and networks that offer open-source, global activist alternatives to pricey technology. The course was open to all grad students and had participants from Architecture and Design MBA. They received training from Yosmay del Mazo of StoryCorps, Thaddeus Howze of Quora, Chieh-Ju Pai in the Film Dept, with additional support and training by digital scholarship librarian Lisa Conrad. This was an attempt for writers/artists/makers to speak a shared language across the college, and heralds the beginning of further college-wide collaborations.
