The contribution takes into account the passage of ps.Acron’s Horatian commentary in which we read about the existence of a Sallustian Life written by Asconius Pedianus (Schol. Hor. Sat. 1, 2, 41), in order to evaluate the credibility of this testimony.

A mosaic found in Estada, in the ancient Hispania Tarraconensis, contains a verse which is easily identifiable as Verg. Aen. 2, 234. The contribution considers the meaning of the quotation in the context of the mosaic, shedding light on Virgil’s fortune in late antique Spain.

Wastewater-based epidemiology has been proposed to monitor the diffusion and trend of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. In the present study, raw and treated samples from three wastewater treatment plants, and two river samples characterized the Milano Metropolitan Area, Italy, were surveyed for SARS-CoV-2 RNA positivity to real time PCR and infectiveness. Moreover, whole genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of isolated strains was performed. Raw wastewater samples resulted positive to PCR amplification, while treated water samples were always negative (four and two samples, respectively, sampled in two dates). Moreover, the rate of positivity in raw wastewater samples decreased after eight days, in congruence with the epidemiological trend estimated for the interested provinces. Virus infectiveness was always not significant, indicating the effectiveness of wastewater treatments, or the natural decay of viral vitality, which implied the absence of significant risk of infection from wastewaters. Samples from receiving rivers (two sites, sampled in the same dates as wastewaters) showed in some cases a positivity to PCR amplification, probably due to non-treated discharges, or the combined sewage overflows. Nevertheless, also for rivers vitality was negligible, indicating the absence of sanitary risks. Phylogenetic analysis of genome indicated that the isolated virus belongs to the most spread strain present in Europe and similar to another strain found in Lombardy.

The article analyzes the ways in which Homeric poems are quoted in the ancient commentaries to Horace and Stace. The aim is to shed light on the way in which the original texts were known in the school of late antiquity and on the dynamics relating to learning the contents of the Iliad and the Odyssey.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) clones are rapidly increasing beyond the hospital into the community, livestock farming and environmental settings. An Italian man, a professional diver working in Egypt, was admitted to Infectious Diseases Clinic-ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco for ulcerative skin lesions. An MRSA strain was isolated from the lesions' purulent exudate and the nasal colonization was also ascertained. The strain, characterized by whole genome sequencing, resulted to be Panton-Valentine Leukocidin (PVL) positive, SCCmecI - spa-type t504, and belonging to the sequence type 1153, sporadically described worldwide.

Nevertheless, also for rivers infectivity was null. The paper analyzes two Virgilian variants attested in Servius, ad Aen. 11, 243 (Diomedem) and ad Aen. 12, 701 (Athon). The aim is to show how the need to explain a grammatical rule sometimes influences the commentator – but it’s possible to identify the same perspective in Macrobius –, who chooses a lesson consistent with it.

Grazie alla presenza di citazioni comuni - nel particolare, il v. 769 del settimo libro dell'Eneide - è possibile individuare riferimenti incrociati tra i commentatori. Il caso esaminato porta a ipotizzare una fonte comune per il redattore degli scolii alla Tebaide e quello degli scolii pseudacroniani: se non Servio, fonte di notizie e di luoghi poetici, un repertorio comune di citazioni o ancora, suggestivamente, una sorta di compendio a carattere mitologico (in questo caso il riferimento è ad Apollo e alla sua azione salvifica) corredato di citazioni.
