This study aimed to determine and compare the common child violation encountered by pupils in school. This study covered the two hundred thirty-two (232) Grade IV to VI pupils of Asia Elementary. This study was descriptive and comparative in nature. It utilized frequency distribution, percentage, weighted mean, and one-way ANOVA in its treatment of statistical data. The study utilized a researcher-made instrument that determine the extent of child violations encountered by the pupils. The following are the salient findings of the study: majority of the research respondents were 10-11 years old, female and in Grade IV. Emotional, verbal, and physical violations were at "moderate extent" with 2.04, 1.98 and 1.96 respectively. Violations encountered from schoolmates (2.58) and classmates (2.54) were at "moderate extent" while "very low extent" from teachers (1.59) and school head (1.21). When grouped by profile, significant differences were found in sex and grade level. On the extent of violations encountered from schoolmates, classmates, teachers, and school head when were grouped according to their profile, significant differences were found in sex and grade level. Having contributed to the UNESCO report Reimagining our futures together: A new social contract for education as a member of the International Commission and as Chair of the research-drafting committee of this commission, the author now takes the liberty of making some personal notes on the reflections advanced therein. This brief article is divided into three sections. The first presents the main foundations of the social contract of educational modernity (nineteenth century). The second discusses how this contract has to be renewed today. The third advocates the need to value the common in education, based on five main ideas: cooperation (in pedagogy), convergence (in curriculum), collaboration (in teaching), conviviality (in schools), and capillarity (in society). Finally, the epilogue defends the urgency of placing human rights at the center of the process of renewing the social contract for education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article puts into conversation a set of ethnographic experiences understood as “waysof- living-in-common”, which present a series of challenges for interdisciplinary approaches. We start from the central hypothesis that ethnography itself constitutes a form of becoming- in-common that articulates and tensions differentiated forms of communalization. Our central objective is to compare and analyze community processes and projects carried out in different regional contexts of Argentina, alongside with communities Huarpe de Lavalle (Mendoza) and El Encón (San Juan), Kolla (Inter-Andean Valleys of Salta), Diaguita (Choromoro Valley, Tucumán) and community of Mutquín (Catamarca), in articulation with the analysis of the collaborative ethnographic practice itself. For the analysis we take up contributions from references of French post-structuralism and the so-called “community thinking”, in its French and Italian line, in articulation with contemporary approaches of anthropological and ethnographic theory, which allow us to re-think ethnographic practice and project new commons. Although the legislator believes that there are many advantages about the prevalent ownership of a property, because of its partners disagreement about the management & use of this property the block its investment to serve the national economy, but this phenomenon became a fact. And because there are many conditions where we can find many people having the prevalent property, the legislator tried many times to minimize this kind of property to prevent its negative results by limiting the period of having this property the way it is and permitting the partners to use their rights in what we call (Division of benefits) which put the property in a dynamic state. In this research we will take one part of this subject in details, discussing the legal provisions of apportionment of benefit; including legal provisions related to partners, also proving this kind of division and using it to protest against others. Finally we will discuss the expiration states of this type of division. All this would be provided by a comparative study between Islamic jurisprudence and civil laws. Summary: Structural variations (SV) are large (>50 base pairs) genomic rearrangements comprising deletions, duplications, insertions, inversions, and translocations. Studying SVs is important because they play active and critical roles in regulating gene expression, determining disease predispositions, and identifying population-specific differences among individuals of diverse ancestries. However, SV discoveries in the Indian population using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) have been limited. In this study, using short-read WGS having an average 42X depth of coverage, we identify and characterize 36,210 SVs from 529 individuals enrolled in population-based cohorts in India. These SVs include 24,574 deletions, 2,913 duplications, 8,710 insertions, and 13 inversions; 1.26% (456 out of 36,210) of the identified SVs can potentially impact the coding regions of genes. Furthermore, 56 of these SVs are highly intolerant to loss-of-function changes to the mapped genes, and five SVs impacting ADAMTS17, CCDC40, and RHCE are common in our study individuals. Seven rare SVs significantly impact dosage sensitivity of genes known to be associated with various clinical phenotypes. Most of the SVs in our study are rare and heterozygous. This fine-scale SV discovery in the underrepresented Indian population provides valuable insights that extend beyond Eurocentric human genetic studies.

Only a few comprehensive studies have been carried out on parasites in amphibians and reptiles in Ukraine. This has resulted in identifying over 100 helminth species across these vertebrate groups. However, most of the studies were performed in the 20th century and the taxonomy of many parasites and their hosts has changed ever since, in addition to the discovery of new species and registrations of species that had not been previously known for Ukraine. In recent decades, there have been very few publications on helminths from amphibian or reptile hosts in this region. Notably, just one of these recent studies is a faunistic study, providing a list of helminths found in two species of green frogs – Pelophylax ridibundus (Pallas, 1771) and Pelophylax esculentus (Linnaeus, 1758). Therefore, it is clear that publishing datasets of modern records of helminths in these vertebrate groups, based on modern taxonomy, is an essential step in further studies of their parasitic diversity. Additionally, such study is important in terms of global climate change, the growing number of possibilities of invasion of alien species (both hosts and parasites) that might potentially become a threat to native biota and growing anthropogenic pressure on local populations of hosts that affect the parasites as well. In future, this study is planned to be used for the creation of a checklist of helminths of the herpetofauna of Ukraine. The present dataset is an inventory of various species of helminths parasitising common species of the herpetofauna in central, northern, western and southern Ukraine recorded during field studies in the 2021-2023 period.The dataset is the first one to represent the up-to-date and unified data on helminths of reptiles and amphibians of Ukraine. Previously, records of this group of organisms with reference to their hosts were presented as several separate records within the country. Currently, this is the largest dataset presenting geocoded records of non-human-related helminths in the fauna of Ukraine. It reports helminth species from 15 hosts (205 individuals), including eight amphibians and seven reptilian species found in various Ukrainian regions. A total of 47 helminth species have been documented in the research and during 2021-2023 period on the territory of northern (Kyiv and Zhytomyr), western (Lviv, Zakarpattia Ivano-Frankivsk), central (Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia and Poltava) and southern (Odesa) regions of Ukraine. The identified helminth species belong to the following phyla: Acanthocephala (Centrorhynchidae (2), Echinorhynchidae (2)); Nematoda (Acuariidae, Anisakidae, Cosmocercidae (3), Dioctophymatidae, Gnathostomatidae (1), Kathlanidae (1), Molineidae (7), Onchocercidae (1), Pharyngodonidae (1), Rhabdiasidae (6), Strongyloididae); Platyhelminthes (Diplodiscidae (1), Diplostomidae (2), Encyclometridae (1), Haematoloechidae (1), Leptophallidae (2), Macroderidae (1), Mesocestoididae, Opisthorchiidae (2), Plagiorchiidae (3), Pleurogenidae (2), Polystomatidae (3), Proteocephalidae (1), Strigeidae (1) and Telorchiidae (3)). Only some helminths in the dataset were not identified to species level. Material is stored in the collection of the department of Parasitology of the I. I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine.

This article discusses the influence of the Pinochet dictatorship on the understanding of the commons in Chile, especially in terms of its social and civic expression. Following the course of the critical hermeneutics, the analysis focuses on two aspects of this influence: a) the legal aspect, which allows one type of social association while criminalizing another, and b) the economic aspect, which permeates the (self-)understanding of the individual as a subject who, in order to be free, must ensure that there is no external resistance to his or her actions. The results show the importance of interpretation and interpellation provided by the hermeneutic approach and the role of civil society in dynamizing social action and understanding the common. The purpose of our research is to identify paths that lead us beyond property. It is important to us to do more than criticize private property; it is also necessary to think beyond public property. We would like to reach something that goes beyond both. We are not referring either to the private property of capitalism or to the public property of socialism; we refer to the idea of the common in communism. The understanding of the common requires that we envision a society different from capitalist society. The common is not a third option to the private and the public (and is not equivalent to the latter), but a path antagonistic to capital and its means of production. It is necessary to keep in mind that the 'realization' of the common through state property constitutes the very destruction of the common by the state. The notion of property, in and of itself, excludes the common, not only in terms of the use of goods, but also in the realm of production, given that it ratifies a division between owners and non-owners. The defense of the common carries with it the denial of property, public or private, and also of the State. It is a process. This perspective is of real importance, because the institution of private property and the State itself - which feed each other - is the basis for the support of capitalism. Faced with behaviors of CCXP (Comic Con Experience) participants that referred to a celebration, the article reflects on whether the event is a party. Based on the ethnography carried out in the author's thesis, the study shows that the CCXP can be considered as such, as it promotes the overcoming of distances, produces a state of collective effervescence in the face of references to elements of narratives in films, series, comics, books and games and generates extra logical, extra temporal and extraordinary states, characteristics addressed by Émile Durkheim in his definition of the concept. He also adds that, given its ability to generate meanings from nexuses arising from mediations, this party, in addition to social aspects, also comprises communicational aspects. The present paper reports on the findings from the first four years of an ongoing, longitudinal study which examines the experiences and perceptions of Polish college participants in the International Book Club, an extension of a campus common read program at an American university. More specifically, the paper examines participants’ experiences with the book, both inside and outside the classroom, and examines their opinions about the issues discussed in each year’s book selection, their attitudes toward that issue and whether or not their attitude toward the issue was changed through this experience, their attitudes toward public discussions and whether or not their attitude toward public discussions was changed through this experience, and whether or not reading the book and participating in the club helped to improve their English-speaking abilities. Quantitative data, in the form of a nine-statement survey, and qualitative data, in the form of a nine-question open-ended questionnaire, were collected and analyzed. While a great deal of the literature on common read programs has explored the experiences of participants within the North American context, there is a dearth of research outside of that context, including the Polish context. The present study attempts to ameliorate this situation. The main findings from the study show that, overall, participants enjoyed the experience of reading the book and that participation in the program has been beneficial for them, including getting them to read more, to engage in discussions more, to think more deeply about more diverse topics and issues, and perhaps most importantly, to im­prove their English language abilities.

OBJECTIVE: Doppler ultrasonography of the common carotid artery is used to infer stroke volume change and a wearable Doppler ultrasound has been designed to improve this workflow. Previously, in a human model of hemorrhage and resuscitation comprising approximately 50,000 cardiac cycles, we found a strong, linear correlation between changing stroke volume, and measures from the carotid Doppler signal, however, optimal Doppler thresholds for detecting a 10% stroke volume change were not reported. In this Research Note, we present these thresholds, their sensitivities, specificities and areas under their receiver operator curves (AUROC). RESULTS: Augmentation of carotid artery maximum velocity time integral and corrected flowtime by 18% and 4%, respectively, accurately captured 10% stroke volume rise. The sensitivity and specificity for these thresholds were identical at 89% and 100%. These data are similar to previous investigations in healthy volunteers monitored by the wearable ultrasound.

BACKGROUND: Carotid atherosclerosis is associated with cognitive impairment and dementia, though there is limited evidence of a direct link between carotid disease and amyloid-β (Aβ) burden. OBJECTIVE: We studied the association of baseline and progressive carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) with Aβ on 11C-Pittsburgh Compound B (PiB) to determine if those with carotid atherosclerosis would have higher Aβ burden. METHODS: We studied 47 participants from the Framingham Offspring cohort with carotid ultrasounds measuring CIMT at their 6th clinic examination (aged 49.5±5.7 years) and an average of 9.6 years later, and PiB imaging measuring Aβ on average 22.1 years post baseline. We used multivariate linear regression analyses to relate baseline, follow-up, mean, and progression of internal carotid artery (ICA) and common carotid artery (CCA) CIMT to Aβ in brain regions associated with Alzheimers disease (AD) and related dementias (ADRD), adjusting for age, sex, and other vascular risk factors. RESULTS: Participants with higher mean ICA IMT had more Aβ in the precuneus (beta±standard error [β±SE]: 0.466±0.171 mm, p = 0.01) and the frontal, lateral, and retrosplenial regions (β±SE: 0.392±0.164 mm, p = 0.022) after adjusting for age, sex, vascular risk factors, and medication use. We did not find an association between any CCA IMT measures and Aβ or progression of ICA or CCA IMT and Aβ. CONCLUSION: Carotid atherosclerosis, as measured by ICA IMT, is associated with increased Aβ burden later in life. These findings support a link between vascular disease and AD/ADRD pathophysiology.

Background Carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) is associated with the risk of subsequent cardiovascular events in the general population. This association has not been established in type 1 diabetes. Methods and Results We studied if carotid IMT is associated with the risk of a first coronary artery disease event in participants with type 1 diabetes in the EDIC (Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications) study, the long-term observational follow-up of the DCCT (Diabetes Control and Complications Trial). Between 1994 and 1996, common carotid artery and internal carotid artery IMT were measured with high-resolution ultrasound in 1309 study participants with a mean age of 35 years and diabetes duration of 13.8 years; 52% were men. Cox proportional hazards models evaluated the association of standardized common carotid artery IMT and internal carotid artery IMT with subsequent cardiovascular events over the next 17 years. Models were adjusted for age, sex, mean hemoglobin A1c levels, and traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Associations of common carotid artery IMT with subsequent CAD were significant after adjustment for imaging device, sex, and age (hazard ratio [HR], 1.23 per 0.09 mm [95% CI, [1.04-1.45]; P=0.0141), but did not remain significant after further adjustment for traditional risk factors and hemoglobin A1c (HR, 1.14 per 0.09 mm [95% CI, 0.97-1.33]; P=0.1206). No significant associations with subsequent coronary artery disease events were seen for internal carotid artery IMT. Conclusions In the DCCT/EDIC cohort with type 1 diabetes, common carotid artery IMT, but not internal carotid artery IMT, is weakly associated with subsequent coronary artery events, an association eliminated after adjusting for coexistent traditional cardiovascular risk factors. In clinical practice, it is found that autoimmune thyroid disease often additionally occurs with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In addition, several studies showed that eye-specific autoimmune diseases may have a strong relationship with systemic autoimmune diseases. We focused on Graves' disease (GD) with ocular conditions, also known as Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO), trying to find out the potential genetic background related to GO, RA, and SLE. There were 40 GO cases and 40 healthy controls enrolled in this study. The association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the co-stimulatory molecule genes and GO was analyzed using a chi-square test. It showed that rs11571315, rs733618, rs4553808, rs11571316, rs16840252, and rs11571319 of CTLA4, rs3181098 of CD28, rs36084323 and rs10204525 of PDCD1, and rs11889352 and rs4675379 of ICOS were significantly associated with GO based on genotype analysis and/or allele analysis (p < 0.05). After summarizing the GO data and the previously published SLE and RA data, it was found that rs11571315, rs733618, rs4553808, rs16840252, rs11571319, and rs36084323 were shared in these three diseases. Furthermore, the bio-function was confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay. It was shown that rs733618 T > C and rs4553808 A > G significantly decreased the transcriptional activity (both p < 0.001). This study is the first to confirm that these three diseases share genetically predisposing factors, and our results support the proposal that rs733618 T > C and rs4553808 A > G have bio-functional effects on the transcriptional activity of the CTLA4 gene. The article intends to present the statute of the community from an analysis of aspects of the thought of Georges Bataille and Roberto Esposito. First, to bring the notions of contagion and the constructions of its interdictions in Bataille's thought closer to Esposito's conception of immunitas. Soon after, we reconnect our reading to the place where Esposito reserved for Bataille in his research, that is, the archeology of thought about community and the possibility of rethinking the common space. The methodology applied here comprises the combination of the bibliographic analysis method with the comparative one. In conclusion, it is intended to demonstrate the theological-political reactions that unify and reduce common life to a defense of mere human biological survival. In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle claims that friendship and justice are the same, apparently flouting the not uncommon contrast between friendship and justice. I start by assessing Aristotle's principle of equality: friends of equal standing engage in exact reciprocity in goods and friends of unequal standing engage in proportional reciprocity. In a number of ways that have gone unnoticed, the equalization principle is a requirement for understanding the sameness of friendship and justice. Just relations and friendship share the same domain, that is, the same relationship of a corresponding community. Moreover, asking how to be just to someone is the same as asking how to be a friend to that person, indicating that the virtue of justice and the virtue of friendship are also the same. School must celebrate the common and the tables must be the place that unites and connects us, the teachers said. The concept of the desk had to be reimagined. This paper charts a journey through the author’s design practice, pursuing transformation of the ped-agogical space of the classroom through the common. hEXtable is a scalar series of tables that grow and unfold like a mosaic but that can also nest within each other like a set of Russian dolls. The irregular hexagonal tables grouped in different ways play with order, favoring individual and collective forms of appropriation.

This article aims at problematizing, from an aesthetic perspective, the contemporary “atmospheric turn”. From a confrontation between French impressionist painting and the painting of the Danish Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916), we thus distinguish three concepts, which define three different aesthetic paths: — the ambience, appropriate to the Impressionists and the philosophies of the situation or, as we will say, of the surroundings; — the atmosphere, implied by the painting as it is thought by a certain French philosophy of the 20th century (Deleuze, Merleau-Ponty, Levinas); — finally, the silence, specific to Hammershøi’s painting. Could this silence, without ambiance or atmosphere, define an art of the common freed from the atmospheric turn?

The issue of equal access of citizens to land remains a concern of public authorities to respond to issues related to household food security, especially in rural areas. Along the way, a legal and regulatory framework has been developed to give substance to the development options of the primary sector consisting of agriculture and livestock. However, the criteria identified in the context of the allocation of land in the national domain are sometimes biased due to considerations based on the social position of the person concerned. Indeed, the notion of capacity to be able to develop the land requested naturally excludes certain strata that do not meet the financial conditions required for such exploitation. According to our surveys, the category of people who find themselves in this situation is often made up of women, young people, the elderly and those with disabilities. However, there are a series of measures that would aim to restore the equality of citizens for the access and use of natural and land resources. Land projects and programs in collaboration with the State and rural communes make consideration of the gender aspect a component. This concern has enabled vulnerable groups to be better taken into account in the land allocation activities of the national domain at the level of the commune of Diama, notwithstanding the breakthrough of large-scale land acquisitions (ATE). We will structure this work in four fundamental moments. A first moment, where we will expose different narratives of the Anthropocene. All of them start from different epistemological assumptions and approach different political proposals to think about the alternatives. We will also propose how we understand the Anthropocene and what potential it holds for thinking about transitions. In a second moment, we will talk about the ambivalence of the Anthropocene, that new condition that gives the human being the ability to be a geological force which implies an unprecedented power, but ambivalent, to the extent that it may imply its own destruction. The conscious understanding of the status of this ambivalence is a condition for the possibility of beginning to think about responsibilities in a different way. In a third moment, we will propose the figure of the decentered anthropos as a symbolic expression to perceive, both the importance of the human being to think about other ways of living and transiting, as well as to apprehend the radical vulnerability that characterizes us, a necessary condition to think about any form of responsibility. We will lay special emphasis on "biocentric paradigm", as a place from which to enunciate the criticism of "anthropocentric paradigm", its demands and proposals. Finally, and in a more proactive way, we will try to formulate the normative foundations of the responsibility(es) in the Anthropocene, starting from the moral universe that the ecosystemic fracture with which we live shows us. The article presents an ethnography of the queue that formed in the Comic Con Experience parking lot on December 6, 2019 to access the Cinemark auditorium panels, held the next day. Based on the article by Leon Mann called Queue Culture: The Waiting Line as a Social System (1969) and on the book Fila e Democracia (2017) by Roberto DaMatta and Alberto Junqueira, this text defines the queue as a space democratic public. The study also understands that it consists of a social practice that generates sociabilities, marked by a sense of community. The article concludes that references to pop culture narratives present in the event and in the queue generate an affective anteriority that, shared between individuals, establishes a "common" that links their behaviors, emotions and affections, as discussed by Muniz Sodré in the book The science of the common: notes on the communicational method (2014). Context: Environmental filtering is an important assembly process that structures plant communities and is commonly inferred from taxonomic, functional trait and phylogenetic patterns. However, while these approaches can be informative, the influence of other co-occurring processes on community diversity, such as competitive exclusion, remains poorly understood. Objectives: By combing functional traits and a phylogeny of woody plants across anthropogenically created islands, we aim to explore the ways in which environmental filtering and competitive exclusion can simultaneously influence community assembly processes. We expect that communities on smaller islands, where competition for limited space and resources is more intense, should be functionally and phylogenetically less clustered than those on larger islands because this more intense competition should reduce the coexistence of the most closely related or functionally similar species. Methods: We used ten functional traits and a phylogeny of 76 woody plant species to assess species diversity and similarity within communities across an island area gradient. We combed functional traits and phylogeny into a functional–phylogenetic distance matrix and calculated the communities' mean functional-phylogenetic distance (MFPD) and its standardized effect size (SES.MFPD) as measures of ecological similarity. Results: As expected, species were more phylo-functionally similar to one another than expected by chance within islands and this underdispersion grew stronger with island area, indicating that while islands generally contained clustered communities, environmental filtering and competitive exclusion were both likely occurring. By integrating species abundance distributions with community similarity, we found that the most abundant species were phylo-functionally similar to the least abundant species. Species richness increased with island area, as expected, but the additional species found only on larger islands tended to have low abundances, providing opportunities for rare species to persist. Conclusions: With environmental filtering narrowing the number of species that can persist, the loss of phylo-functionally closely related rare species on smaller islands was likely caused by competition or stochastic removals, leading to greater species dissimilarity than on larger islands. Many States refer to the territory to renew their public action, particularly in Brazil between 2003 and 2016. Territorial governance mechanisms play an important role in organising collective action between multiple actors, but their implementation is encountered problems and raises questions. The article analyses how territorial governance arrangements that mobilise the notion of common and companion methodologies largely respond to these difficulties. Action research carried out in Brazil over a period of fifteen years has analysed the key elements of the companion processes of territorial governance arrangements that have made it possible to construct these arrangements as commons. These include the co-construction of a mission and rules shared for the use of the common, emotional intelligence and conflict, the role of the gatekeepers in multi-level governance, social experimentation and progressive institutionalisation. Fasih Khafi (777-845AH) wrote the Mojmal Fasihi book in the ninth centuryAH, often each work is somehow related to works before and after it. Knowing source of a work helps to know it better. One way to understand the content, structure and position of a work is to understand extent and how it relates to works before it. Transtextuality is a theory that deals with all kinds of relationships between texts. In many cases, Fasih Khafafi has omitted source in order to avoid prolonging speech. For example narrations of Scaffi's death and Makan Kakoi's rebellion which have been narrated in events of 386AH. research question is to find out source of Khafi in these two anecdotes and prove it. By contemplating two books of the Chahar Maghale and Mojmal Fasihi and examining and comparing two in terms of intertextuality similarities, it was determined that three anecdotes of the Chahar Maghale are also mentioned in Mojmal Fasihi. Existence of common historical errors, similar phrases and common details between two narrations of Mojmal Fasihi in mentioning events of 386AH, and first and second anecdotes of first Chahar Maghale article, as well as the paratextuality of Khayyam's prophecy in Mojmal Fasihi with seventh anecdote The third of the Chahar Maghale proves that Chahar Maghale written in the sixth centuryAH by Nezami Aroozi are source of Fasih Khafi in writing narrations that he mentions about events of 386AH about Scafi and Makan.

In 2021, a humanitarian crisis developed at the Poland–Belarus border due to the considerable influx of migrants from Belarus. Polish authorities responded with a systematic practice of pushbacks, sanctioned prima facie by legislative action, that are incompatible with Poland's obligations under international and EU legal systems. This policy led to the suffering of migrants stranded between borders and more than a dozen confirmed deaths. Despite credible reports of abuses by Polish authorities, the European Commission largely acquiesced to this practice. The article employs both dogmatic and empirical methods to explore the rationale behind such an approach. It is demonstrated that the Commission's conduct illustrates a pattern evident in the years following the 2015 migration crisis in Europe. Moreover, the analysis suggests that the 2021 crisis had unique characteristics that further incentivized passivity by the Commission. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Acquired melanocytic nevi are classified as common or dysplastic. Cutaneous melanoma may develop in a pre-existing acquired nevus (nevus-associated melanoma, NAM). We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 22 published articles to investigate whether NAM occurs more frequently within a dysplastic or common nevus. Although our meta-analysis showed a similar proportion of 51% dysplastic nevus (compared with common nevus) in NAM, when including those studies with larger patient numbers, there was a higher proportion of 65% NAM developing in a dysplastic nevus. A separate meta-analysis of invasive and in situ NAMs showed that the proportion of dysplastic nevus were 56% and 71%, respectively. The larger proportion of dysplastic nevus in in situ NAMs should be interpreted with caution due to the low numbers and possible misclassification bias of in situ NAM developing in dysplastic nevus that may be challenging to differentiate from a dysplastic nevus. Our meta-analysis had considerable uncertainty and high heterogeneity, highlighting the need for future well-designed studies with uniform histopathological definitions for dysplastic nevus remnants which report the type of nevus in NAM separately for invasive and in situ melanomas, thin tumors, and by histological subtype. Background: Cutaneous melanoma has an adjacent nevus remnant upon histological examination in 30% of cases (nevus-associated melanoma, NAM), while it appears de novo for 70% of tumors. Regarding NAM arising in acquired melanocytic nevus, currently there is no evidence on whether NAM more frequently develops in association with a dysplastic or common melanocytic nevus. Objectives: To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the proportion of dysplastic or common melanocytic nevus in NAM associated with acquired nevus. Methods: A systematic literature search is conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library. The PRISMA checklist is used. Studies reporting patients diagnosed with NAM arising in an acquired common or dysplastic melanocytic nevus are included. A meta-analysis of proportions is performed using the random-effects model. The magnitude of heterogeneity is assessed with the I2 statistic. Results: A total of 22 studies with 2174 NAMs with an acquired nevus (dysplastic or common) are included. The proportion of dysplastic nevus in NAM varies considerably in the included studies, ranging from 0% to 100%. In the meta-analysis, the overall estimate of the proportion of having a dysplastic nevus in NAM is 51% (95% CI: 39–63%) with high heterogeneity at I2: 95.8% (p < 0.01). A sensitivity meta-analysis of 12 studies that included 30 or more acquired nevus-NAMs (2023 cases) shows that 65% of the NAMs developed in a dysplastic nevus (95% CI: 51–77%). In a meta-analysis of 4 studies reporting invasive-only acquired nevus-NAMs (764 cases), the proportion of dysplastic nevus is 56% (95% CI: 36–75%). Only 2 studies are found reporting in situ NAMs with an acquired nevus, and the pooled estimated proportion of dysplastic nevus is 71% (95% CI: 63–78%). Conclusions: The results of this meta-analysis suggest a higher proportion of dysplastic nevus in acquired nevus-NAM; however, there is considerable uncertainty and high heterogeneity, highlighting the need for future well-designed studies with uniform histopathological definitions for dysplastic nevus remnants which report the type of nevus in NAM separately for invasive melanomas, thin tumors, and by histological subtype. The effect of ventricular dominance and previous atrioventricular valve (AVV) surgery on patient outcomes after Fontan operation remains unclear. We sought to determine the effect of ventricular dominance and previous AVV surgery on transplantation-free survival and long-term AVV competency in patients with atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD) and Fontan circulation. We conducted a retrospective study of 1703 patients in the Australia and New Zealand Fontan Registry, who survived Fontan operation between 1987 and 2021. Of 174 patients with AVSD, 60% (105/174) had right ventricular (RV) dominance and 40% (69/174) had left ventricular (LV) dominance. The cumulative incidence of moderate or greater AVV regurgitation at 25 years after Fontan operation in patients with LV dominance was 56% (95% CI, 35%-72%), compared with 54% (95% CI, 40%-67%) in patients with RV dominance (P =.6). Nonetheless, transplantation-free survival at 25 years in patients with LV dominance was 94% (95% CI, 86%-100%), compared with 67% (95% CI, 52%-87%) in patients with RV dominance (hazard ratio, 5.9; 95% CI, 1.4-25.4; P <.01). Of note, transplantation-free survival was not different in patients who underwent AVV surgery before or at Fontan completion compared with those who did not (15 years: 81% [95% CI, 62%-100%] vs 88% [95% CI, 81%-95%]; P =.3). In patients with AVSD and Fontan circulation the rate of moderate or greater common AVV regurgitation is similar in those with LV and RV dominance. Through this theoretical essay, we propose the construction of an educational agenda for the school aimed at the common. We make some historical digressions into the educational thought that prevailed in the 20th century and highlight the centrality attributed to the relations between socialization and individualization. In the face of these relationships, schooling was democratized, and, paradoxically, this process was accompanied by a crisis of meaning regarding the public nature of education, particularly in the context of the prevailing neoliberal and neoconservative logic. As a critical alternative, we bet on the common as a political principle, accepting that this concept has the potential for reinventing education today. For this reinvention, we present four curricular provisions to guide our investigations and our practices, which are the following: a) to overcome the individualization-socialization binomial; b) redefine the public dimension of the educational task; c) rebuild the atmosphere of the selection of school knowledge; d) reestablish the classroom as a worthy object.
