Improving student experiences in higher education is of ongoing interest to colleges and universities across the globe. Non-university higher education institutions (NUHEIs) have outperformed universities in Australian national surveys on student experience. The present study examines qualitative responses of the Student Experience Survey within the context of Alphacrucis College (AC), a faith-based, private NUHEI to provide a contextualised understanding of NUHEIs as well as to explore reasons why NUHEIs outperform universities in most student experience categories. Content analysis revealed several themes in areas of 'best experience' and 'needs improvement.' Results were examined across AQF levels and three study modes, namely online, blended, and on-campus. Findings are discussed in terms of the NUHEI student experience, lecturer training, lecturer performance indicators, and institutional infrastructure.

This article investigates the implications of Moses' unshod feet within the Burning Bush pericope (Exodus 3.1–4.17). Traditionally, scholars observe that the act of removing one's shoes is merely a sign of ancient honour, conveying to Moses that he is on holy ground. Here, the author suggests, however, that through a narrative-geographical reading, additional insights can be gleaned – specifically, that Moses is being asked to participate as an embodied person, with all his senses. He is literally being 'grounded' in this experience, through his unshod feet. The author also argues that a larger creational relationship is implied – expressly, that Moses is the new (re)creational partner (adam) , and through this bare-footed encounter is being connected back to creational purposes, via the adamah. Finally, inasmuch as Pentecostal readers of the Bible seek an ongoing experience of the Spirit, the author suggests that this narrative-geographical reading complements and re-energizes our whole-bodied spirituality and expectations of divine encounter. This paper explores Sarai's scheme in Genesis 16.2, in which Sarai proposes that she can "build" a family with Abram through Hagar. The term "to build" (הנב) is an unusual choice where one would expect Sarai's desire to be phrased "to bear" ( דלי) a family. Typically, commentators have noticed this discrepancy but theorised that the term "to build" is used for its assonance with the word "son" (ןב), as well as to describe the advent of the promised Abrahamic dynasty. However, through an intertextual reading with other verbal resonances of "to build" in selected Genesis texts, this paper argues that the term "to build" was chosen deliberately to subtly highlight the impetuous error of Sarai's actions to overcome her barrenness. Second, a consideration of how an intertextual approach of reading the biblical text aligns with Pentecostal readers was discussed, highlighting that it invites them into fresh encounters with the wider biblical text, not only exegetically, but also for personal transformative experiences.
