Considering the lack of studies about the emergence of the homosexual movement in Pernambuco in the early eighties of the 20th century, we aimed through the discursive productions generated by the printed media: (a) analyze the discursive construction about "political movement" in the media production about the Grupo de Atuação Homossexual (Gatho) in Pernambuco, in the scenario of the re-democratization; (b) map repertoires about homosexuality in the media production about the Gatho and its political action; (c) identify actors and actresses, among disputes and coalitions, in the conformation of the news about this group. The results point out that Gatho sought to position itself as a political subject, as it began to confront institutional spheres and open fields of alliance with other social movements, political parties, and the press. It also acted to produce new repertoires to combat discrimination around homosexuality, contributing to a debate about the need to guarantee rights, historically denied to the LGBT population.
