1. Using Agile Story Points and Game Theory Together: Better Software Planning and Development in Agile Software Development

Abstract

In the realm of Agile software development, precise user story point estimation is crucial for effectual project timeline and resource management. Despite its significance, the method is often marred by issues stemming from cognitive biases, disparities in individual judgment, and hurdles related to both collaboration and competition. In addressing these challenges, this study employs a comprehensive literature review, integrating key concepts from Agile software development, Story Point estimation, and Game Theory. Through rigorous examination of existing literature and relevant case studies, we identified pervasive issues in Agile and Story Point estimation. In response, we proposed the application of game theoretic strategies, notably the Vickrey Auction and Stag Hunt Game, aiming to refine these estimations. The resultant methodology not only promotes the use of game-theory inspired mechanisms but also accentuates their potential to enhance software development planning, team cohesion, and conflict resolution. Preliminary results from our research underscore the transformative potential of these games when incorporated into Agile methodologies, especially during planning and retrospective phases. Abstract

The advancements in the software industry, along with the changing technologies, methods, and conditions, have particularly brought forth a perspective that prioritizes the improvement of all stages of the software development lifecycle by approaching the process through automation. In particular, methods such as agile methodologies and DevOps, which focus on collaboration, automation, and efficient software production, have become crucial for the software industry. In particular, the understanding of utilizing principles such as distribution management, collaboration, parallel development, and end-to-end automation in agile software development, and DevOps techniques has emerged. In this study, one of these areas, software configuration management, and the integration of modern software development practices such as agile and DevOps are addressed. The aim of this study is to examine the differences and benefits that innovative methods bring to the software configuration management field when compared to traditional methods. To this end, a project is taken as a basis, and with the integration of DevOps and agile methodologies, improvements are made and the results are compared with the previous state. As a result of monitoring software configuration management with the integration of DevOps and agile methodologies, improvements are seen in the build and deployment time, automated report generation, more accurate and fault-free version management, completely controlling the software system, working time and workforce efficiency., Comment: 16. 4. Complex network analysis of the Turkish domestic airport system and comparison with worldwide practices

Abstract

Purpose: This paper aims to provide a holistic insight into the performance of the Turkish air transportation network through complex network analysis. While many countries' airport network structures and performances have been widely studied, the rapidly growing Turkish airport structure still needs to be adequately analyzed. Therefore, this paper evaluates the structural properties of the Turkish domestic aviation network from 2012 to 2020 and compares it with worldwide practices. Design/methodology/approach: To evaluate the topological properties of the Turkish airport system, this study utilized five complex network metrics: average degree, diameter, average path length, clustering coefficient, modularity, and density index. Findings: The findings indicate that the Turkish domestic aviation network has a smaller diameter, lower average path length, decreasing clustering coefficient, and lower modularity compared to worldwide practices, which implies low robustness and flexibility. The pandemic has increased the unique paths, density index, and average degree, which implies more connectivity among airports, possibly due to mandatory flights. Practical implications: The analysis of complex networks can help evaluate network characteristics and understand their influence on the Turkish domestic network. The long-term evaluation of the airports' topological properties provides valuable insights into their structural resilience, operational efficiency, and potential for network optimization. Originality/value: This study is the first to analyze the topological structure of the Turkish airport system and compare it with worldwide practices. 5. Exploring the Sources of Centrality in the Turkish Domestic Airport Network.

Abstract

Air passenger transportation in Turkey has been in rapid development since the mid-1980s due to the increasing investments in infrastructure and deregulating policies. This paper analyzed the network performances of Turkish airports and assessed the evolution from 2012 to 2020, from both topological and spatial perspectives. Unweighted and weighted graphs based on flight frequencies were used to determine airport centrality. Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) was defined as the most central airport in the domestic network and airport centrality showed significant improvement during the observation period. The weighted graph recorded significant losses in the centrality performances of airports, excluding eigenvector, during the pandemic process. Exogenous sources of airport centrality were also examined using Gradient Boosting Modeling. Results demonstrated the importance of the population and economic strength of the city in airport centrality, the decisive role of tourism demand and international flights on betweenness centrality, and the necessity of passenger terminal size on eigenvector centrality. Abstract

Özet Sosyal ağlar, insan ilişkilerinin söz konusu olduğu her alanda karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Aile içi ilişkilerin düzenlenmesinde akrabalık ağları, sınıf içi ilişkilerin düzenlenmesinde arkadaşlık ağları, alıcı-satıcı etkileşiminde, tedarik zincirinin üyeleri arasında, yapısal rekabetin yaşandığı pazarlarda, firmalar düzeyinde işletmeler arasında bir anlaşma veya ittifak söz konusu olduğunda karşılaşılan iş ağları gibi birçok sosyal ağ yapısı bulunmaktadır. Sosyal ağlar doğaları gereği dinamik yapılardır ve farklı türde değişimlere sahne olurlar. Bireyler arasında kurulan bağlar zaman içerisinde güçlenerek gelişebilir veya bağlar zamanla çözülerek ilişki ansızın kesilebilir ve bitebilir. Aktör bazında yaşanan bu değişimler, aktörün ağdaki yapısal pozisyonunun ve diyadik özelliklerinin bir sonucu olarak düşünüldüğünde, farklı istatistiksel gösterimlerle ifade edilebilir. Çalışmada, ağda yaşanan değişimlerin matematiksel olarak gözlemlenmesi için stokastik aktör bazlı model kullanılmış ve bir arkadaşlık ağına ilişkin dinamikler tartışılarak, ağın yapısı irdelenmiştir. To deal with considerable number of parameters in an optimal solution, determining the impact-relations map and analyzing casual influences work out complex problems in decision-making process. The aim of this study is to find out which of the many meaningful parameters revealed in the aviation sector, is influential. The concept of descriptive and prescriptive analytics is introduced in civil aviation sector. The secondary data was taken from one flag carrier airlines. In addition, interviews were conducted with 10 different experts to compare the interaction between 8 different attributes. The interviews were structured around the DEMATEL Model. Descriptive analytics results have set a precedent implication of multidimensional reports for service sector. Decision making with the variety of combinations of multidimensional reports has a complex nature. Thanks to prescriptive analytics, displayed results supported by DEMATEL.
