Citrus, one of the most popular fruit crops grown worldwide, has high nutritional, medicinal and commercial value. This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of gamma radiation with various doses, including 0 Gy, 5Gy, 10 Gy, 15 Gy, 20 Gy, 25Gy, 30 Gy, 35 Gy, 40 Gy and 45 Gy of cobalt 60 sources on acid lime variety Agamalai citrus, (Citrus aurantifolia). The study was carried out at the Horticulture College and Research Institute in Periyakulam. The mutagenic efficiency and effectiveness were evaluated using the frequency of chlorophyll mutations and the biological damage in M1 plants. The stomatal index reduces (19.62 %-13.99%) with increasing treatment dose, compared to control (20.39%), although guard cell dimensions, such as length (6.09 µm) in 15 Gy and breadth (4.56 µm) in 5 Gy increase with higher dose treatment than untreated (3.71 µm, 3.54 µm). Identifying the mutagenic efficiency and effectiveness of the mutagen and maximising the lethal dosage is the first stage in any mutagenesis research. The main objective of the present work was to assess the increased radiological risk due to the deficiencies detected during the regulatory inspections of Cobalto therapy services. The method used was the Risk Matrix, developed by the Ibero-American Forum of Regulatory Bodies, through which the relationship of the deficiencies found with the deterioration of the barriers and frequency and consequences reductors described in the practice risk model was studied. As a result of the work, the heterogeneous contribution of the deficiencies was found in a considerable number of initiating events of the stated model. The analysis carried out demonstrates the feasibility of applying this method in evaluating the impact of the deficiencies detected, as well as its support in the grouping of the recommended coercive actions to compensate those deficiencies with the greatest impact on the general state of the security of the service. Risk monitoring, based on the impact of defense measures as a consequence of the impact of deficiencies detected during regulatory inspections, is a useful resource for the inspector, who finds in it a scientific support that relates the regulations to be applied with the computerized code capabilities based on risk matrix. This makes it possible to optimize decision-making, which is important, both for the inspector and for the regulated entity. The use of the suggested methodology would make it possible to reduce the dependence on the inspector's expertise during inspections, a criterion that has traditionally prevailed in this activity. This is a study of our experience with Co-60 high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR BT) from a tertiary care center. One thousand patients were treated with Cobalt-based HDR BT for more than 6 years. The practice of BT was analyzed for clinical outcome, physical, radiobiological, and technical aspects. Among those 1000 patients, 906 (90.6%) patients had gynecologic cancer, 29 (2.9%) patients had intraluminal BT, 63 (6.3%) hadhead &neck (2.1%), keloid (2.1%) and mold BT (2.1%), and 2 (0.2%) had sarcoma. Dose rate decreased by 48.9%, and treatment time increased from 9.33 to 18.27 min over 5 years. No patients treatment was abandoned because of machine-related problems. Cobalt-based HDR BT is preferable in terms of lesser source exchanges, relatively uniform treatment time, quality assurance requirement, and cost. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
