Disjointism is the view that co-located objects do not share any parts. A human-shaped statue is composed from a torso, head and limbs; the co-located lump of clay is only composed from chunks of clay. This essay discusses the tenability of this relatively neglected view, focusing on two objections. The first objection is that disjointism implies co-located copies of microphysical particles. I argue that it doesn't imply this and that there are more plausible disjointist views of tiny parts available. The second objection is that disjointism is at a loss to explain how material objects can be co-located and why the weights of co-located objects don't add up. The standard pluralist account appeals to the fact that co-located objects stand in mereological relations and this account is not available to the disjointist. I sketch an alternative account that appeals to a notion of 'material identity': the statue is taken to be the same matter as the lump of clay. The resort to a new theoretical primitive may seem to invite a quick rejection on grounds of unnecessary theoretical complexity but I argue that an abductive comparison with rival forms of pluralism shows that such a rejection is misguided. While field research in indoor air quality (IAQ) increasingly uses large numbers of low-cost sensors, detailed validation of each sensor is becoming infeasible, ignored, or undeclared. Questions remain about whether these sensors meet manufacturer or third-party specifications and whether their utility improves with some validation, even under imperfect conditions. This study details the outcomes of a co-location experiment with 87 low-cost IAQ monitors, conducted with the objective of verifying their performance in measuring total volatile organic compounds (tVOCs), particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5), carbon dioxide (CO2), temperature, and relative humidity. The monitors were installed next to professional-grade reference IAQ instruments in an office with controlled ventilation. A mixed validation methodology was used, involving outlier detection, uncertainty quantification, and performance metric calculations. Results showed that CO2, temperature, and humidity sensors reliably met manufacturer specifications, while tVOC sensors had significant accuracy issues, deviating by up to 79% from reference measurements—substantially more than the stated uncertainty of ±20%. PM2.5 sensors were more consistent but had an error margin of ±27%, compared to the stated ±15%. A total of 5 of the 87 sensors (5.7%) were outliers for at least one IAQ indicator. Despite the need for further long-term validation, this study highlights the importance of performing an experimental evaluation of low-cost IAQ monitors before field deployment. Marine co-location, i.e., multiple fixed ocean activities operating in the same place and at the same time, can maximize the space- and resource-use efficiency in crowded seascapes. While interest grows, commercial use is nascent and the collective benefits or limitations of co-locating aquatic food and clean energy remains scattered throughout the literature. In this study, we synthesize multinational findings of co-location scientific publications (N = 102) to better understand the patterns and knowledge gaps at the co-located ocean food-energy nexus. We track and compare food (aquaculture) and energy (tidal, offshore wind, and wave) co-located ocean activities, noting the focus (e.g., ecological), motivation (e.g., impact/risk), and assessment type (e.g., modeling), as well as nine key metrics of interest (depth, distance from shore, aquaculture yield, etc.), mainly for aquaculture co-location. We found the number of annual co-location publications increased over time and space but are largely concentrated in the North Sea (n = 39). We also found about half of publications include aquaculture, one-third of publications report at least one metric - reporting aquaculture yield was particularly rare (n = 1) - and few studies focused on impact/risk (n = 7). However, conducting a targeted post-hoc evaluation of North Sea gray literature (N = 61), due to this region's importance in the field, showed more coverage of impacts/risk (e.g., liability) and similar attention to aquaculture. Of the scientific papers that did report metrics, the ranges of depth and distance exceeded those reported for standalone sectors, indicating co-location could be facilitating a "push" of ocean activities into farther offshore and/or deeper exposed waters. Ultimately, while aquaculture is commonly cited in the co-location literature, the shortage of metrics, like aquaculture yield, and possible impact/risk evaluations - though gray literature can provide critical insights - emphasizes the need for knowledge sharing and modeling to address and explore the uncertainty, especially for co-located aquaculture production. It is often argued that certain metaphysical complications surrounding the phenomenon of monozygotic twinning force us to conclude that, prior to the point at which twinning is no longer possible, the zygote or early embryo cannot be considered an individual human organism. In this essay, I argue, on the contrary, that there are in fact several ways of making sense of monozygotic twinning that uphold the humanity of the original zygote, but also that there is no easy answer to what happens when the human zygote twins. All of the options available carry with them one or more surprising, alarming, or otherwise counterintuitive implications. All things considered, I conclude that the "budding option," according to which the original human organism present before twinning carries on as one of the resulting embryos but not the other, is the most plausible explanation of what happens when a human zygote twins. Objectives: Naloxone is an effective medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. Distributing naloxone directly to those at risk, therefore, reduces the risk of opioid-related deaths. New legislation in Australia means a prescription is no longer required to access naloxone. Whilst acknowledging the benefits of increased access, we aim to evaluate the impact psychiatrists can have on naloxone provision due to their unique position as doctors often working with those who may be at risk. Methods: Data was recorded on those accessing naloxone from a co-located addiction and mental health service. Descriptive statistics were generated to establish the cohort characteristics, prior knowledge of naloxone and outcome of previously supplied naloxone. Results: Naloxone was dispensed 488 times from 2021 to 2023. 267 people had previously been prescribed naloxone from these sites where 137 (51.3%) were reportedly used in an opioid reversal. Conclusions: Our findings highlight the importance of community access to naloxone in reducing opioid-related harm. Whilst removing the need for a prescription makes naloxone more accessible, it remains vital that doctors remain involved in this process to broaden the reach of supply to those at risk. With the expansion of offshore renewable energy, countries across the world are researching the different ways to maximize the space between wind turbines by coupling multiple maritime activities within the same ocean space. This technique is referred to as co-location and can result in economic and environmental benefits. Using data from a choice experiment and random utility modeling, this research quantifies public preferences for various co-location options within the lease area of a developing wind farm off Virginia's coastline. Our estimates show that the average Virginia public household is willing-to-pay upwards of $20 per 1,000 acres for co-location activities. By comparing our results to estimated implementation and management costs of each activity, there is a strong indication that the benefits of co-location exceed the costs. Privacy-preserving location synthesizers have been widely studied to perform private geo-data analysis. They have also been used for generating datasets for research or competitions. However, existing location synthesizers do not take into account the friendship information of users. Because friends tend to visit the same place at the same time in practice, a location synthesizer should consider such co-locations of friends to generate a more realistic dataset. In this paper, we propose a novel location synthesizer that generates location traces including co-locations of friends. Our location synthesizer models the information about the co-locations with two parameters: friendship probability and co-location count matrix. Our synthesizer generates a synthetic graph based on the friendship probability and then generates synthetic co-locations using the synthetic graph and the co-location count matrix. The two parameters in our synthesizer provide strong privacy guarantees—the friendship probability provides node differential privacy (DP) and the co-location count matrix provides user-level DP. We evaluate our synthesizer using two real datasets. Our experimental results show that our synthesizer preserves co-locations and other statistical features while providing DP with reasonable privacy budgets, e.g., 0.2-node DP and 2-user-level DP. Adoption of renewable energy in power grids introduces stability challenges in regulating the operation frequency of the electricity grid. Thus, electrical grid operators call for provisioning of frequency regulation services from end-user customers, such as data centers, to help balance the power grid’s stability by dynamically adjusting their energy consumption based on the power grid’s need. As renewable energy adoption grows, the average reward price of frequency regulation services has become much higher than that of the electricity cost. Therefore, there is a great cost incentive for data centers to provide frequency regulation service. Many existing techniques modulating data center power result in significant performance slowdown or provide a low amount of frequency regulation provision. We present PowerMorph , a tight QoS-aware data center power-reshaping framework, which enables commodity servers to provide practical frequency regulation service. The key behind PowerMorph  is using “complementary workload” as an additional knob to modulate server power, which provides high provision capacity while satisfying tight QoS constraints of latency-critical workloads. We achieve up to 58% improvement to TCO under common conditions, and in certain cases can even completely eliminate the data center electricity bill and provide a net profit.

Abstract Background Welfare advice services co-located in health settings are known to improve financial security. However, little is known on how to effectively evaluate these services. This study aims to explore the feasibility of evaluating a welfare advice service co-located in a primary care setting in a deprived and ethnically diverse population. It seeks to investigate whether the proposed evaluation tools and processes are acceptable and feasible to implement and whether they are able to detect any evidence of promise for this intervention on the mental health, wellbeing and financial security of participants. Methods An uncontrolled before and after study design was utilised. Data on mental health, wellbeing, quality of life and financial outcomes were collected at baseline prior to receiving welfare advice and at three months follow-up. Multiple logistic and linear regression models were used to explore individual differences in self-reported financial security and changes to mental health, wellbeing and quality of life scores before and after the provision of welfare advice. Results Overall, the majority of key outcome measures were well completed, indicating participant acceptability of the mental health, wellbeing, quality of life and financial outcome measures used in this population. There was evidence suggestive of an improvement in participant financial security and evidence of promise for improvements in measured wellbeing and health-related quality of life for participants accessing services in a highly ethnically diverse population. Overall, the VCS Alliance welfare advice programme generated a total of £21,823.05 for all participants, with participants gaining an average of £389.70 per participant for participants with complete financial outcome data. Conclusions This research demonstrates the feasibility of evaluating a welfare advice service co-located in primary care in a deprived and ethnically diverse setting utilising the ascribed mental health, wellbeing and quality of life and financial outcome tools. It provides evidence of promise to support the hypothesis that the implementation of a welfare advice service co-located in a health setting can improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.

Abstract Background Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular protozoan parasite that can infect a wide range of warm-blooded animals, including humans. It poses significant health risks, particularly in immunocompromised individuals and during pregnancy, leading to severe disease manifestations. The liver, being a crucial organ involved in immune response and metabolic regulation, plays a critical role in the host's defense against T. gondii infection. Methods In this study, we utilized RNA sequencing to investigate the expression profiles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) in the liver of mice infected with T. gondii. By employing this method, we obtained a comprehensive overview of the alterations in gene expression occurring in the liver during infection. Results By comparing the infected groups to the control groups, we identified numerous differentially expressed lncRNAs DElncRNAs and DEmRNAs at two stages of infection. Specifically, at the acute infection stage, we found 628 DElncRNAs, and 6346 DEmRNAs. At the chronic infection stage, we identified 385 DElncRNAs and 2513 DEmRNAs. Furthermore, we identified 1959 commonly expressed DEmRNAs, including IL27, Nos2, and Cxcr2, across two infection stages. Enrichment and co-location analyses revealed pathways linked to immune and inflammatory responses during T. gondii infection. Notably, through co-location analysis, our analysis revealed several DElncRNAs, including Gm29156, Gm29157, and Gm28644, which are potentially implicated in the progression of liver inflammation induced by T. gondii. Additionally, functional enrichment analysis disclosed stage-specific characteristics of liver inflammation and immune response, alongside changes in metabolic regulation and immunosuppression pathways. Conclusions Our findings provide valuable insights into the expression patterns of lncRNAs and mRNAs in the liver at different stages of T. gondii infection. We identified potential regulatory factors and pathways implicated in liver inflammation, thereby enhancing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying liver inflammation and immune responses during T. gondii infection. These findings could contribute to the development of targeted therapeutic strategies for liver inflammation in the context of T. gondii infection. Graphical Abstract

How to successfully integrate mental health and primary care remains a critically important question given the continued morbidity and early mortality of people with serious mental illness. This study investigated integration in a community mental health center (MHC) primarily treating people with SMI in a large, urban northeastern city where an on-site primary care center (PCC) was opened resulting in co-located mental health and primary care services being provided. Using focus groups and online surveys this study asked participants about their thoughts and interactions with the on-site PCC. Participants included staff from clinical, non-clinical, and leadership roles in the mental health center (MHC; PCC staff; and MHC clients who did not use the on-site PCC). MHC staff also offered their thoughts about and experiences with the on-site PCC one year and two years after the on-site PCC opened through an on-line survey. In both methods, staff reported limited awareness and expectations of the PCC in the first year. Staff indicated that successful care integration goes beyond co-location and peer health navigation can enhance integration. Finally, staff discussed desires for enhancing care integration and co-located services into a medical home that included communicating across medical records and providers at different agencies. Our results suggest that, in addition to the previously researched three C's of care integration (consultation, coordination, and collaboration), two more C's were essential to successful care integration: co-location and communication. Communication across medical records and providers at different agencies was an essential component of care integration, and co-location added increased ability to communicate across providers. Purpose: This paper enhances our understanding of how national culture impacts manufacturing performance (assembly speed, consistency between teams, etc.) during a production process move. The authors also investigate the efficacy of co-location as a strategy to enhance knowledge transfer from one organization to another. Design/methodology/approach: To study the impact of national culture on production process moves, the authors develop and employ a team-based behavioral experiment within and between an individualist society (the United States) and a collectivist one (China). The authors also examine the impact of co-location on knowledge transfer effectiveness within and between these two unique cultures. Findings: Interestingly, co-location has little impact on the performance of US recipient teams. Without co-location, Chinese recipient team performance lags significantly behind the US teams. However, firms can overcome these knowledge transfer challenges by co-locating source and recipient team members. These results suggest that firms should assess the national cultural context when considering co-location to manage their production move. There are contexts where co-location may be incredibly useful to facilitate an effective knowledge transfer (e.g. collectivist cultures like China) and contexts where this approach may not be as valuable (e.g. individualistic cultures such as the United States). Originality/value: This research contributes to the academic literature in several ways. First, while past research demonstrates that national culture can be an essential barrier to information and knowledge sharing, this paper extends these findings showing that co-location may effectively overcome this barrier. After the authors offer and test the merits of co-location, they also establish the boundary conditions of this approach by showing that the effect of co-location on knowledge transfer is contingent on the cultural context. This contribution enhances our understanding of the relationship between national culture and knowledge sharing and has implications for managers developing approaches to transfer knowledge between cultures. Second, the authors develop and execute a novel cross-country experimental design. While cross-country experiments have been done before (e.g. Ozer et al. 2014, Kuwabara et al. 2007, etc.), it is still rare to see such experiments due to them being "technically difficult and costly" (Ozer et al. 2014, p. 2437). This research not only offer insights into how teams of people from individualist and collectivist societies send, receive and comprehend production knowledge. IntroductionCOVID-19, being a new type of infectious disease, holds significant implications for scientific prevention and control to understand its spatiotemporal transmission process. This study examines the diverse spatial patterns of COVID-19 within Wuhan by analyzing early case data alongside urban infrastructure information.MethodsThrough co-location analysis, we assess both local and global spatial risks linked to the epidemic. In addition, we use the Geodetector, identifying facilities displaying unique spatial risk characteristics, revealing factors contributing to heightened risk.ResultsOur findings unveil a noticeable spatial distribution of COVID-19 in the city, notably influenced by road networks and functional zones. Higher risk levels are observed in the central city compared to its outskirts. Specific facilities such as parking, residence, ATM, bank, entertainment, and hospital consistently exhibit connections with COVID-19 case sites. Conversely, facilities like subway station, dessert restaurant, and movie theater display a stronger association with case sites as distance increases, hinting at their potential as outbreak focal points.DiscussionDespite our success in containing the recent COVID-19 outbreak, uncertainties persist regarding its origin and initial spread. Some experts caution that with increased human activity, similar outbreaks might become more frequent. This research provides a comprehensive analytical framework centered on urban facilities, contributing quantitatively to understanding their impact on the spatial risks linked with COVID-19 outbreaks. It enriches our understanding of the interconnectedness between urban facility distribution and transportation flow, affirming and refining the distance decay law governing infectious disease risks. Furthermore, the study offers practical guidance for post-epidemic urban planning, promoting the development of safer urban environments resilient to epidemics. It equips government bodies with a reliable quantitative analysis method for more accurately predicting and assessing infectious disease risks. In conclusion, this study furnishes both theoretical and empirical support for tailoring distinct strategies to prevent and control COVID-19 epidemics.

Abstract Background Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) play crucial roles in regulating various physiological and pathological processes. However, the role of lncRNAs and mRNAs in mediating the liver response during Toxocara canis infection remains incompletely understood. Methods In the present study, the expression profile of lncRNAs and mRNAs was investigated in the liver of Beagle dogs infected by T . canis using high-throughput RNA sequencing. Results Compared with the control groups, 876 differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs and 288 DEmRNAs were identified at 12 h post-infection (hpi), 906 DElncRNAs and 261 DEmRNAs were identified at 24 hpi, and 876 DElncRNAs and 302 DEmRNAs were identified at 36 days post-infection (dpi). A total of 16 DEmRNAs (e.g. dpp4, crp and gnas) were commonly identified at the three infection stages. Enrichment and co-localization analyses identified several pathways involved in immune and inflammatory responses during T. canis infection. Some novel DElncRNAs, such as LNC_015756, LNC_011050 and LNC_011052, were also associated with immune and inflammatory responses. Also, LNC_005105 and LNC_005401 were associated with the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines, which may play a role in the healing of liver pathology at the late stage of infection. Conclusions Our data provided new insight into the regulatory roles of lncRNAs and mRNAs in the pathogenesis of T. canis and improved our understanding of the contribution of lncRNAs and mRNAs to the immune and inflammatory response of the liver during T. canis infection. ObjectiveImproving oral health of low-income and uninsured young children remains challenging because of reluctance of general dentists to care for very young children or participate in Medicaid, limited involvement of primary care providers in children's oral health, and lack of parental awareness of the importance of early oral health care. These barriers can be addressed in health centers (HCs) that are the premier sources of primary care for low-income and uninsured populations and a significant Medicaid provider. Many HCs provide dental services on-site, but literature indicates that medical and dental services often remain siloed with limited interaction among providers in addressing the oral health needs of young patients including risk assessment, education, and caries prevention. Accordingly, we developed a conceptual framework and measuring tool for medical dental integration and sought to examine utility of this tool in a purposive sample of HCs.MethodWe developed a conceptual framework for integrated oral health delivery and designed a survey to measure this integration. We surveyed 12 HCs in Los Angeles County participating in a project to improve oral health-care capacity for young children after 2 years of implementation. We included measures of risk assessment, preventive interventions, communication and collaborative practice, and buy-in organized in structure and process domains. Two individuals independently scored the responses, and a third reviewed and finalized. We standardized final scores to range from 0 to 100.ResultsOverall integration scores ranged from 31% to 73% (mean = 64%). Process scores were higher than structure scores for nearly all HCs. Processes contributing to higher scores included referrals with warm hand-offs, leadership support for medical-dental integration, and involvement in dental quality improvement projects. Structure factors contributing to higher scores included the presence of medical oral health champions, linked electronic health records, and referral protocols.ConclusionWe found that high levels of integration could be achieved despite structure and process limitations and sustainable integration depends on leadership and provider commitment and embedding of best practices in daily operations. Further research can illustrate the reliability of our tool and the impact of integration on access.

Abstract The local-tie vectors, which connect coordinate frames of different space geodetic techniques, are indispensable for the construction of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). To obtain the local-tie vector connecting very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) sites with high measurement accuracy, it is crucial to accurately determine the antenna invariant point (IVP), which does not change its position under any tracking conditions. In the 2018 co-location survey at Ishioka station, we employed two methods to determine the IVP; “inside” and “outside” methods. We observed a target mirror from inside or outside of the antenna and derived trajectories of the target used for estimation of the rotation axes. Both the methods successfully estimated the IVPs with the measurement error of less than 1 mm, meeting the requirement of measurement accuracy by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS). The striking point is that the difference between the IVP positions was less than 1 mm, suggesting that both the methods could determine almost the same position independently. While they both can determine the IVPs with high measurement accuracy, it should be noted that the inside method substantially improved the operational efficiency. For the outside method, we had to repeat the target observations from four or more pillars around the VLBI antenna, with the reinstallation of a total station (TS) if needed. In contrast, for the inside method, we can observe the target from one place inside the antenna in a short time with only one TS no matter where the mirror is attached in the azimuth cabin. We concluded that the inside method is an effective and practical approach to accurately estimate the IVP. Graphical Abstract

Purpose: The traditional construction delivery method is challenged by low trust and collaboration issues, resulting in increased project costs. The integrated project delivery (IPD) method is developed, through a contractual agreement, to overcome these challenges by creating a common set of terms, expectations and project goals. Design/methodology/approach: A singular construction case was followed during a four-month period. Data collection consisted of contract documents and a series of semi-structured interviews with representatives from the owner, design-group and contractors. Findings: The IPD contract was found to have a number of positive effects; it improved project behavior (e.g. trust, collaboration and communication), increased ownership among project participants and improved buildability of the design, leading to fewer surprises and interruptions in the construction phase. The study also revealed a number of challenges including contractual and legal challenges and involving too many participants in the early phases. Moreover, co-location was identified as a particular important supporting element, to build relations and improve collaboration. Originality/value: This research identified lessons learned from the application, as well as initial barriers and persistent barriers for implementing IPD. To improve IPD application the top three lessons were as follows: 1) the contractual documents should be adapted and signed at an early stage as this increases financial transparency, 2) cost estimates should be carried as an iterative process and project main concept be freezed at an early stage to increase understanding and minimize risks, 3) only the most important project developers should be involved in the early phases, to avoid going into detailed design issues before the main concept is completed. Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) play crucial roles in regulating various physiological and pathological processes. However, the role of lncRNAs and mRNAs in mediating the liver response during Toxocara canis infection remains incompletely understood. Methods: In the present study, the expression profile of lncRNAs and mRNAs was investigated in the liver of Beagle dogs infected by T. canis using high-throughput RNA sequencing. Results: Compared with the control groups, 876 differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs and 288 DEmRNAs were identified at 12 h post-infection (hpi), 906 DElncRNAs and 261 DEmRNAs were identified at 24 hpi, and 876 DElncRNAs and 302 DEmRNAs were identified at 36 days post-infection (dpi). A total of 16 DEmRNAs (e.g. dpp4, crp and gnas) were commonly identified at the three infection stages. Enrichment and co-localization analyses identified several pathways involved in immune and inflammatory responses during T. canis infection. Some novel DElncRNAs, such as LNC_015756, LNC_011050 and LNC_011052, were also associated with immune and inflammatory responses. Also, LNC_005105 and LNC_005401 were associated with the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines, which may play a role in the healing of liver pathology at the late stage of infection. Conclusions: Our data provided new insight into the regulatory roles of lncRNAs and mRNAs in the pathogenesis of T. canis and improved our understanding of the contribution of lncRNAs and mRNAs to the immune and inflammatory response of the liver during T. canis infection. This paper seeks to identify promising sites and technologies, in Portugal, for co-located wave energy conversion and offshore aquaculture, whilst providing benchmark implementation references and guidelines to researchers. Accordingly, two case study sites are considered for deployment of five wave energy devices and up to six aquaculture species. A thorough analysis in terms of power ratios, efficiency, redundancy, species viability, device survivability and costs is performed, seeking to find viable co-located solutions. It is found that the Wave Dragon device yields the most promising energy demand coverage and energy output (5 226 to 6 817 MWh/year). Nevertheless, it may require rescaling towards optimal operation, while the OCECO 4 excels in terms of capacity factor (0.24–0.29) and default adaptation to the deployment sites. The WaveRoller® has the lowest single-unit cost (125 €/MWh) but requires up to nine units to cover all the energy demand targets. Larger wave farms are required for the BBDB and AquaBuOY, albeit with potentially greater economies of scale and single-unit redundancy. These sites also enable cultivation of most of the considered species, even under ideal conditions. A new realization of the international terrestrial reference frame, a combination of four different space geodetic techniques, was released in 2022. Each geodetic solution should be combined carefully based on the local tie information at the co-located site. Although many approaches have been successfully applied to connect different geodetic sensors, to date, there has been no unified mathematical representation for the target motions. Herein, a unified conical model was developed to estimate the invariant points of geodetic sensors using a more robust and consistent approach. It modeled the motion of targets, in either the horizontal or vertical axis, as cones; thus, homogeneous modeling was implemented. In addition to its simplicity, the model simultaneously estimated the tilting of the vertical axis and horizontal offset. The mathematical relationship and normality of the normal vector were modeled as a Gauss–Markov model with fixed constraints. The pre-computed initial coordinates of the pillars and targets were adjusted simultaneously to calculate the correlation information for the local tie vector. The complete model was successfully applied to the co-located site, which was transformed into a global reference frame via the Helmert transformation based on the global navigation satellite system campaign. The results showed that the proposed method is more efficient in terms of the number of parameters for invariant points of geodetic sensors (only 13% compared to the 3D circle fitting type conventional approach). Cities are certainly a key factor in the location of gambling facilities. This paper aims to map the location of gambling outlets in urban areas and to examine potential links between neighborhoods socioeconomic and demographic characteristics and gambling supply, taking into account spatial dependencies of neighboring areas. This correlation is of interest because neighborhood characteristics may attract sellers, and because the presence of gambling sellers may cause changes in neighborhood demographics. Using detailed official data from the city of Madrid for the year 2017, three spatial econometric approaches are considered: spatial autoregressive (SAR) model, spatial error model (SEM) and spatial lag of X (explicative variables) model (SLX). Empirical analysis finds a strong correlation between neighborhoods characteristics and co-location of gambling outlets, highlighting a specific geographic patterning of distribution within more disadvantaged urban areas. Co-location is a crucial precondition for simultaneous interpreters' teamwork. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to secure amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as conference interpreters across the world are forced to embrace distance interpreting due to anti-covid public health measures. This article aims to examine how the disruption to co-location during the pandemic has changed interpreters' teamwork. Drawing on the analytic framework of Pre-process, Peri-process, In-process, and Post-process proposed by Sylvia Kalina (2002), the study explores changing reality in China by combining micro- and macro analysis in a case study involving 136 conference interpreters in the country. Results show that the pandemic has unleashed unprecedented disruption to interpreters' teamwork in spite of their proactive efforts to maintain it. More specifically, a new teamwork pattern featuring major shifts in collaboration themes, division of roles, and fewer benefits is emerging. Findings from the research may shed light on changing realities not only in China, but possibly in the wider world. Practical suggestions and future research needs are also identified. Offshore wind farms (OWF) and floating solar photovoltaic farms (FPV) are becoming crucial parts of global renewable energy plans. Combining OWF and FPV offers a promising approach to improving energy generation efficiency and cutting costs through shared infrastructure and operational synergies. This systematic review assesses key criteria for identifying suitable co-location sites; focusing on environmental regulations, resource availability, economic viability, social acceptance, and technological readiness. The study highlights that environmental protection laws and legal limitations are the primary factors affecting site feasibility, in addition to factors such as distance from existing infrastructure and economic considerations. Despite potential benefits, the existing challenges are the early stage of FPV technology and its low resilience in offshore environments. The findings underline the potential of co-located OWF-FPV projects to reduce the costs associated with offshore renewables, particularly in densely populated coastal areas with limited land availability. Strategic resource allocation and policy support are essential for overcoming these obstacles and promoting the development of sustainable offshore energy solutions. These findings serve researchers and practitioners alike, by offering insights for a better allocation of resources and efforts to foster the co-location development of OWF and FPV in the future. Adults with a serious persistent mental illness (SPMI) express a strong desire to work. However, they continue to experience higher levels of unemployment, barriers, and occupational exclusion that impact their vocational outcomes and choice of work. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of co‐location partnerships between adult mental health and disability employment services (DES) on employment outcomes and consumer choice of work for adults with a SPMI. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA) methodology, a systematic literature review was conducted by searching four databases. The relationship between mental health, employment, and DES was examined. Inclusion criteria were adults with a SPMI; employment services and outcomes; and job retention and sustainability. Twelve studies met inclusion criteria. All studies were peer‐reviewed, Australian‐based, and published between 01 January 2017 and 30 August 2021. Individual placement and support (IPS); DES practice, funding, policy, and reform within the Australian mental health system; and barriers to participation in DES were the three main themes that emerged. Findings highlight the importance of joint, co‐location partnerships between mental health and employment services, including a collaborative approach to policy reform between both services, to assist adults with a SPMI to gain and sustain competitive employment. Vocational, non‐vocational, systemic, and structural barriers still exist; hence, adults with a SPMI continue to face challenges with gaining and sustaining long‐term employment. Objective: Metabolic syndrome is highly prevalent among people with schizophrenia. This study aims to assess the impact on metabolic and attendance outcomes of a co-located, dedicated, endocrinologist-led metabolic clinic in a stand-alone public community mental health service. Methods: Demographic and metabolic data on the first 48 consecutive referrals over a 12-month period were retrospectively collected and analysed. Attendance rates at the co-located clinic were compared to the general hospital obesity and diabetes clinics. Results: Clinic attendees had significant reductions in triglycerides and total cholesterol, but not mean weight, BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure or HbA1c. Attendance rates were significantly higher in the co-located clinic compared to the general hospital obesity and diabetes clinics for both initial consult (80.0% vs 51.2%, p < 0.001) and review appointment (64.3% vs 47.6%, p < 0.001). Conclusion: The co-location of a specialist metabolic clinic within a mental health service resulted in enhanced engagement and improvement of metabolic health in people with schizophrenia. The Brainport-Eindhoven region has developed into a leading location for deeptech entrepreneurship in Europe. Against all odds, it has transformed itself from a region that heavily depended on the multinational company Philips, into a diverse and fast-growing deeptech ecosystem. While this success has not gone unnoticed, there is not yet a clear account of how and why the Eindhoven region emerged as a global hotspot for deeptech innovation and entrepreneurship. Moreover, such an account might provide an exemplary model of a collaborative ecosystem, one that provides an alternative to the "winner-takes-all" entrepreneurial culture of Silicon Valley. This essay explores the performance of the Eindhoven region in terms of three structural conditions. First, the focus on deeptech R&D and entrepreneurship appears to be deeply rooted in the region's history as well as strong competencies in systems engineering, design thinking, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Second, a collaborative approach to regional policy gives industrial, academic, and governmental actors an equivalent position in its "triple helix" governance. Finally, the Eindhoven region benefits from a systemic approach toward co-locating R&D and entrepreneurial activities on five campuses. Overall, the huge complexity of deeptech systems and products apparently requires a truly collaborative approach at all levels of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Indicative air quality sensor technologies have the potential to compliment compliance monitoring networks by providing both increased temporal and spatial coverage with low capital and ongoing operational costs. Indicative sensors can also be deployed faster and in a wider range of environments than traditional continuous equivalence methods. Since mid-2019 the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) have been testing numerous indicative particle sensors including Purple Airs and KOALAs. The KOALA units also measure carbon monoxide. This trial involved co-locating these sensors with equivalence methods at numerous DPIE stations for a period of six months. The aim was to determine not only sensor performance, precision and accuracy, but also to test the infrastructure that it is interfaced with such as physical design, power options, data logging, time stamping and telemetry. During the co-location period daily PM2.5 levels were above the benchmark on 99 days across the NSW DPIE Air Quality Monitoring Network (AQMN) due to intense fires throughout the state During the same period daily PM10 standards were above the benchmark on 140 days due to both regional scale dust events and fire. The data obtained during this co-location demonstrates that indicative sensors perform well compared to equivalence methods for fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and visibility measurements from nephelometers. The sensors did not perform well when detecting PM10, missing the magnitude of most dust events that the equivalence methods detected. All indicative sensors were reliable over the period with no sensor requiring repairs/ replacement and provided near 100% data capture rate. The pressing need to implement a more circular economy has led to advancements in the research field. In the spatial context, sharing spaces and access-over-ownership models have the potential to mitigate the detrimental environmental impacts of space use. This study aims to adapt an existing theoretical framework on access-based consumption to the spatial context. We utilise a qualitative case study approach exploring a variety of shared spaces from Northern Europe. Our findings suggest that shared spaces and their organisation are inherently fluid. The study further reveals that the physical object of sharing, even in the case of shared spaces, is being partially replaced with virtual and hybrid solutions. In fact, a hybrid solution seems to enable organisations delivering shared spaces to be more dynamic. Finally, we find that in the spatial context, two types of political consumerism prevail: decommercialization of spaces on the one hand and promoting environmental sustainability on the other. This study is the first to suggest a holistic framework for access-based consumption in the spatial context.
