The pandemic had a huge impact on people in need of long-term care (LTC) because of the reduced possibility (or even impossibility) of obtaining the amount of good-quality care they needed during the crisis. At the same time, the pandemic reminded society of the value of our health and care systems, and the essential role performed by people who work as carers, whether they are formally employed in the sector or work informally as unpaid carers. Despite this, not enough attention was paid during the pandemic to the issue of how to make LTC systems more resilient, while the negative effects of the crisis on both carers and the people being cared for are likely to persist (if not worsen) in the coming years if no action is taken. &nbsp

The Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) deems gender equality to be a crosscutting priority for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). Despite this, no specific budget has been allocated to the issue of promoting gender equality, and the issue has not been included among the 11 criteria used by the Commission to assess the plans. RESISTIRÉ analysis of the NRRPs shows that the perspective of women is not sufficiently represented in the plans and very few measures have been taken to concretely address women’s specific needs or the problems they face. Given these shortcomings in the design of the NRRPs, it is imperative that the European Commission take special care to ensure that Monitoring and Evaluation pay special attention to those elements of the performance system that deal specifically with issues related to gender equality

The sudden closure of educational facilities upended the lives of young people, their families, and educators, who were forced to move quickly from traditional onsite teaching to online education. This prolonged suspension of conventional education posed a number of new challenges for students, parents and teaching staff. Students who were already marginalised prior to the pandemic, due to various gender+ vulnerabilities, experienced further detrimental impacts on their educational progress. The experience gained from the global education crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic should be used to develop more resilient education systems that can ensure a balance between the digital and physical space and guarantee that no one is left behind. The insights provided below are developed on the basis of findings from quantitative and qualitative evidence, participatory workshops, and an analysis of National Recovery and Resilience Plans (NRRPs) and other COVID-19 recovery policies.

Several studies highlight theextent of women’s under-representation in decision-making and the invisibility of their voices in policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. A greater representation of women in decision-making, combined with an explicit focus on diversity and inclusion, can make a significant contribution in overturning the worst effects of Covid-19 responses on inequalities. A higher women’s presence in decision-making means that women’s interests are more likely to be addressed in policy discussions and outcomes.&nbsp

El siguiente proyecto consiste en el rediseño y desarrollo de un nuevo cabezal para una máquina de fabricación aditiva que funciona con tecnología FDM. Se hace una introducción del término de fabricación aditiva e impresión 3D y posteriormente se hace un análisis de las tecnologías existentes para este tipo de fabricación. A continuación se pasa a comparar las tecnologías más utilizadas para definir cuales son las diferencias entre ellas así como los componentes que caracterizan cada una de dichas tecnologías. Por otro lado se desglosa y define el componente de estudio de este proyecto, el cabezal y las partes que lo componen y se explica la necesidad de realizar una mejora en el sistema de quick swap para una de las partes importantes de este cabezal, el hotend. Finalmente se desarrolla el rediseño del nuevo cabezal, con diversas propuestas para la posibilidad de realizar un quick swap del hotend y analizando las partes importantes de este y justificando las decisiones de diseño tomadas. Se justifican los cálculos necesarios y la elección de los componentes. The next project consists of the redesign and development of a new head for an additive manufacturing machine that works with FDM technology. An introduction of the term additive manufacturing and 3D printing is made and later an analysis of the existing technologies for this type of manufacturing is made. In addition, the most used technologies are compared to each other to define the differences between them as well as the components that characterize each of these technologies. On the other hand, the study component of this project, the head and the parts that compose it, are broken down and defined, and the need to make an improvement in the quick swap system for one of the important parts of this head, the hotend, is explained. Finally, the redesign of the new head is developed, with various proposals for the possibility of carrying out a quick swap of the hotend and analyzing the important parts of it and justifying the design decisions taken. The necessary calculations and the choice of components are also justified.

[ES] El presente trabajo recoge un estudio comparativo entre dos asignaturas dis-tintas, Alemán académico y profesional A1 y Planificación y dirección de proyectos TI con alumnado de dos niveles académicos diferentes, grado y máster, que llevaron a cabo proyectos de Aprendizaje Servicio como parte del currículo. La investigación se centra en la respuesta por parte del alumnado respecto al desarrollo de competencias profesionales durante la consecución de los proyectos. Para ello, se llevo a cabo la misma encuesta con valores de tipo Likert en ambos grupos. Los resultados permiten afirmar que el Aprendi-zaje Servicio, como metodología de aprendizaje, permite potenciar la respon-sabilidad social, el trabajo colaborativo y la aplicación de lo que se está aprendiendo.

In underwater acoustic modem design, pure asynchrony can contribute to improved wake-up coordination, thus avoiding energy-inefficient synchronization mechanisms. Nodes are designed with a pre-receptor and an acoustically adapted Radio Frequency Identification system, which wakes up the node when it receives an external tone. The facts that no synchronism protocol is necessary and that the time between waking up and packet reception is narrow make pure asynchronism highly efficient for energy saving. However, handshaking in the Medium Control Access layer must be adapted to maintain the premise of pure asynchronism. This paper explores different models to carry out this type of adaptation, comparing them via simulation in ns-3. Moreover, because energy saving is highly important to data gathering driven by underwater vehicles, where nodes can spend long periods without connection, this paper is focused on multi-hop topologies. When a vehicle appears in a 3D scenario, it is expected to gather as much information as possible in the minimum amount of time. Vehicle appearance is the event that triggers the gathering process, not only from the nearest nodes but from every node in the 3D volume. Therefore, this paper assumes, as a requirement, a topology of at least three hops. The results show that classic handshaking will perform better than tone reservation because hidden nodes annulate the positive effect of channel reservation. However, in highly dense networks, a combination model with polling will shorten the gathering time.

This paper is focused on the validation by means of physical fault injection at pin-level of a time-triggered communication controller: the TTP/C versions C1 and C2. The controller is a commercial off-the-shelf product used in the design of by-wire systems. Drive-by-wire and fly-by-wire active safety controls aim to prevent accidents. They are considered to be of critical importance because a serious situation may directly affect user safety. Therefore, dependability assessment is vital in their design. This work was funded by the European project `Fault Injection for TTA¿ and it is divided into two parts. In the first part, there is a verification of the dependability specifications of the TTP communication protocol, based on TTA, in the presence of faults directly induced in communication lines. The second part contains a validation and improvement proposal for the architecture in case of data errors. Such errors are due to faults that occurred during writing (or reading) actions on memory or during data storage.

Los sistemas informáticos se encuentran presentes en muchos ámbitos, desde los relacionados con la industria hasta el hogar. Cada vez con más frecuencia, uno de los requisitos principales a la hora de diseñar sistemas informáticos es que presenten un alto grado de confiabilidad, especialmente aquellos considerados como críticos, ya que su mal funcionamiento puede poner el peligro la integridad de las personas o puede ocasionar grandes pérdidas económicas. Además, la confiabilidad también puede ser un factor importante en su expansión y competitividad en el mercado. La confiabilidad permite al usuario depositar una confianza justificada en el funcionamiento del producto y debe ser evaluada antes de su fase operacional mediante la verificación y validación del comportamiento del sistema según el servicio especificado tanto en condiciones normales como en presencia de fallos. Sin embargo la tasa de fallos en un sistema informático suele ser baja, siendo necesario recurrir a técnicas de validación experimental como la Inyección de Fallos que aceleran la validación mediante la introducción deliberada y controlada de fallos en el sistema.En general, el efecto de los fallos físicos en los semiconductores actuales, donde el incremento de la frecuencia de funcionamiento y la densidad de integración son notables, es más importante que el observado con tecnologías menos avanzadas. Ya no es justificable el asumir que un fallo simple sólo genera un error simple, siendo necesario validar el sistema ante errores múltiples causados no sólo por fallos localizados en memoria, sino también en la lógica combinacional o en soldaduras y metalizaciones, acrecentados estos últimos por la reducción de la distancia entre pistas.Existen diversas técnicas y herramientas de inyección de fallos, entre ellas, la Inyección física a nivel de pin. Una de sus principales ventajas es su aplicación externa, no generando sobrecarga adicional en el sistema o perturbando la ejecución normal de sus tar, Blanc Clavero, S. (2004). Research carried out in recent years suggests that students in Higher Education are not always motivated and lack the learning skills and work habits to overcome first-year difficulties at the university. As a consequence, the approach to teaching the subject was to blame for allowing a significant number of dropouts and underachievement. Starting from several educational experiences carried out since 2005, this paper presents an overall model with the emphasis on student-centered learning and formative feedback. The teaching approach is based on good practices that are supported by commonly available technology resources so as to maintain a manageable faculty workload. Technical resources are a very helpful resource to face large groups of students without losing learning feedback quality, but it is not a solution per se. Thus, on-line activities have been designed to support individual formative feedback with asynchronous teacher interaction, while face-to-face learning is still very important and oriented to promote peer interaction and collaboration. The presented model has produced successful results during several consecutive academic years with samples of more than 500 students per year and the participation of 11 lecturers. This work analyses quantitative indicators to demonstrate that teachers are able to carry out a reliable representation of their student progress, despite the use of different student-centered activities. Generally speaking, student active participation has grown significantly, achieving 65% success. The model and its starting conclusions can be extrapolated to many high education courses.

[EN] This paper presents an innovation research on promoting self-learning and collaborative writing in engineering university courses. The work is focused on the development of a course Wiki as the leitmotiv of the students activity. Students produce self-contained and reusable Wiki pages within the course framework attending to a suitable work planning. Additionally to help the student on the achievement of curricula, the Wiki is also available to the whole group in the form of self-study material adapted to the students group. Wikis provide teachers with potentially significant opportunities for creating socially engaged tasks that require active student participation and collaboration. Wikis allow students to carry out a collaborative writing stimulating reflection, knowledge sharing, and critical thinking. However, despite the potential capabilities of wikis, there is a need for a systematic process to the construction of this virtual writing space and the use of this tool for upper expectations in a deep real learning approach. The paper also reports on the evaluation of the approach by means of quantitative data collection.

[EN] Starting from the work of the iNNOVATiNK team during the recent years, this paper describes several case studies about the use of digital ink technologies in various educational contexts. Although most cases have been applied to subjects in the field of Computer Engineering, it is of particular interest an application example in an adult course offered by the Senior University at the UPV, as well as the first experiments carried out in sixth grade of elementary school (K-12). For each of the selected cases, their strengths and weaknesses are presented, with particular attention to its impact on learning. To sum up, the future working plan of our team is outlined, that given the current difficulties in renewing the equipment available, is addressed both to incorporate new low cost devices as well as student devices, according to the BYOD (Bring your Own Device) philosophy., [ES] A partir de la labor realizada por el Equipo de Innovación y Calidad Educativa iNNOVATiNK durante estos últimos años, el presente trabajo describe varios casos de uso de las tecnologías de tinta digital en distintos contextos educativos. Aunque la mayoría de los casos se han aplicado a asignaturas en el ámbito de la Ingeniería Informática, resulta de especial interés un ejemplo de aplicación en un curso perteneciente a la oferta formativa de la Universitat Senior de la UPV, así como las primeras experiencias realizadas en sexto curso de enseñanza primaria. Para los distintos ejemplos seleccionados, se presentan sus fortalezas y debilidades, con especial atención a su impacto en el aprendizaje. Para concluir el trabajo se apuntan las líneas futuras de nuestro equipo que, dadas las dificultades actuales para renovar los equipos disponibles, van encaminadas a incorporar los dispositivos de los propios alumnos, siguiendo la filosofía conocida como BYOD (Bring your Own Device)

Este applet trabaja la representación simplificada de puertas lógicas a nivel de transistor. El alumno observará la composición de tres puertas lógicas NOT, NOR y NAND, y la zona de funcionamiento de los transistores que la componen representados con interruptores (transistor cortado = interruptor abierto).La interacción con el objeto se realiza a través de una ventana muy sencilla donde escojer el tipo de puerta y los valores digitales de sus entradas. También se podrá ver la ecuación lógica que representa el circuito., La pantalla está dividida en tres partes. A la izquierda el alumno deberá elegir el tipo de puerta con un desplegable y los valores lógicos que se quieren simular para las dos posibles entradas A y B. En la columna central se verá el circuito CMOS que representa la puerta seleccionada. Al pulsar sobre simular, en la tercera columna, a la derecha, se observará el resultado con la representación de las zonas de funcionamiento mediante interruptores a través de los cuales fluye la corriente.

Este laboratorio virtual entra en la temática de Tecnología de Computadores, donde el alumno aprende a construir puertas básicas mediante tecnología CMOS. La visualización de este objeto tiene por objetivo obtener los valores de tensión de salida según los valores de entrada y resistencia configurables por el usuario., El uso de este objeto es sencillo siempre que el alumno comprenda el esquema NMOS que tiene en pantalla. Se trata de una selección sencilla de valores de entrada. Deberá introducir los valores de entrada en los campos de la izquierda, pulsar sobre el botón y observará los cambios que se producen en la representación gráfica de la derecha.

[EN] This paper presents an innovation research on promoting self-learning in engineering university courses. The work is focused on students' homework activity that consists of producing Learning digital Objects. The digital objects are self-contained and reusable within the course framework attending to a suitable work planning and supported by digital tools. Additionally to help the student on the achievement of curricula competences by producing these objects, the objects are also available to the whole group in the form of a digital collection of self-study material adapted to the group idiosyncrasy. There is evidence that Pen-Based Technologies (PBTs) can facilitate radical changes that would make it possible to address problems typically associated with lecture-based pedagogical models. In the context of university-level Computer Science studies, there is widespread consensus that PBTs —and tablet PCs, in particular— are tools that have great potential for encouraging interaction in the classroom and promoting a far more dynamic learning environment. In view off the complexity of these types of technology and their explosive evolution, it would be advisable to assist teachers who wish to utilize them by developing strategies based on a conceptualization of their edu-cational capabilities. With this objective in mind, this article analyzes the use of concept maps as tools for modeling both the instructional domain and the PBTs domain. To validate the proposed approach, a number of workshops were conducted, in which professors of Engineering were given a presentation on the educational capabilities of these technologies and then had the opportunity to experiment with tablet PCs and other digital ink devices. Participants completed a pre-questionnaire at the start of the workshop; its questions were generated from a generic concept map for the instructional domain, and its purpose was to list each professor’s instructional requirements. Next, recommendations for use were developed, based on the PBTs concept map, and converted to the questions on a post-questionnaire completed at the end of the workshop, on which the teachers indicated the degree to which they agreed with the recommendations. More than 70 professors from different departments participated in these workshops, and their overall evaluation was quite favorable.

This paper presents a new energy-harvesting model for a network simulator that implements super-capacitor energy storage with solar energy-harvesting recharge. The model is easily extensible, and other energyharvesting systems, or different energy storages, can be further developed. Moreover, code can be conveniently reused as the implementation is entirely uncoupled from the radio and node models. Real radiation data are obtained from available online databases in order to dynamically calculate super-capacitor charge and discharge. Such novelty enables the evaluation of energy evolution on a network of sensor nodes at various physical world locations and during different seasons. The model is validated against a real and fully working prototype, and good result correlation is shown. Furthermore, various experiments using the ns-3 simulator were conducted, demonstrating the utility of the model in assisting the research and development of the deployment of everlasting wireless sensor networks., This work was supported by the CICYT (research projects CTM2011-29691-C02-01 and TIN2011-28435-C03-01) and UPV research project SP20120889.

[EN] This paper presents a low-cost and low-power consumption asynchronous Wake-Up (WU) development to Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSN). An asynchronous WU offers important advantages for energyaware network polices, however it needs some specific hardware, an optimal configuration of system facilities and the interconnection with a core control unit. This proposed WU implementation has been specifically designed to be used in acoustic underwater modems, able to react to external acoustic stimuli. Both the modem and the Wake-Up system use a unique piezoelectric transducer dissipating, to our knowledge, the lowest power published until now. Los resultados en la evaluación de nuestros alumnos en los últimos años, la realidad sobre las competencias adquiridas por estos, y la adaptación al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (EEES), hacen cada vez más fuerte la necesidad de planificar cambios en la metodología de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la asignatura de Diseño Lógico de la titulación de Ingeniería Técnica en Informática de Sistemas (ITIS) en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Informática Aplicada y de la titulación de Ingeniero en Informática de la Facultad de Informática, impartida por el Departamento de Informática de Sistemas y Computadores de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. En esta comunicación se propone utilizar un "portafolio del docente" como herramienta para recabar información útil y necesaria a lo largo del año 2006 ante la perspectiva de un cambio en el contexto de la universidad y de la necesidad de reorientar las competencias profesionales adquiridas por nuestros alumnos. Entre los objetivos de la experiencia se propone formar parte de los planes estratégicos de adaptación al EEES de los centros implicados, la planificación de evidencias que nos den una medida sobre la necesidad y logro de posibles innovaciones y la valoración de los recursos institucionales y personales disponibles para abordar la iniciativa.
