The article discusses about the disease of pseudo-carcinomatous hyperplasia. In situ, disorganized architecture of the epidermis is seen in benign epithelial tumors, in the so-called intra-epidermal epithelioma, in the inverted follicular keratosis and in the activated seborrheic keratosis. A double-blind, 48-week study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of topically applied 2% minoxidil solution in the treatment of male pattern, baldness. Patients were randomly assigned to receive either 2% minoxidil solution or placebo for the first 24 weeks. After week 24, the placebo patients were crossed over to treatment with 2% minoxidil solution. Of the 428 patients enrolled in the study, 384 were evaluable at the end of the placebo-controlled period, and 329 were evaluable at the end of the study. At the end of the placebo-controlled period, the mean nonvellus hair count in the 2% minoxidil group was significantly higher than in the placebo group (p = 0.0187). The mean increase in nonvellus hair in the 2% minoxidil group from baseline to week 24 was also significantly higher than in the placebo group (p = 0.0385). From weeks 24 to 48, when both groups here on active drug, there was a statistically significant increase in the nonvellus hair count for both groups using within-group analysis. The analysis of the patients' and investigators' assessment of hair growth showed significant differences in the distribution of responses between treatments at week 24. In both cases, it was believed that more hair growth was observed in the patients using 2% minoxidil solution, Medical events consisted primarily of dermatologic side effects (dermatitis, eczema, erythema, rash, pruritus, scaling). The article reports that nail changes are of importance in medical diagnosis, especially in dermatology. Nail dyschromia represents a large part of the nail pathologic processes: it may be a clue to some systemic or dermatologic diseases or may even lead to a specific diagnosis. Examination of a discolored nail should be performed on a completely relaxed finger, without any pressure on a hard surface. The examiner will depress the extremity of the nail and, in this way, change the color so that it might be possible to distinguish the color of the nail plate and that of the nail vascular bed. Transillumination of the nail is obtained by applying a small electric torch under the finger tip. If the discoloration is related to a change in the vascular bed, it will usually disappear.

Cutaneous lesions arising during the course of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), generally of the B-cell type, are frequent. Three types of cutaneous manifestations must be differentiated: (1) specific lesions, (2) cutaneous manifestations closely related to the disease but without a leukemoid infiltrate and (3) associations with various dermatologic conditions. The article presents a discussion related to unusual histological appearances in Duhring-Brocq's disease. There is considerable evidence that the subepidermal bulla caused by rapid detachment of the epidermis is not the sole lesion of this disease. Classical descriptions recorded the possible occurrence of intraepidermal vesicles. Scientists stressed that the subepidermal bulla constituted the essential lesion of the affection, without which it could not be diagnosed. At the same time, they also admit that in a few cases there sometimes occurred subcorneal vesicles which were always independent of the subepidermal bullae.

A research procedure used to study proximal nail folds in connective tissue diseases is described. The technique is simple and one that is suitable and agreeable to patients. It affords study of tissue from the proximal nail fold in three different ways, namely, light microscopy with histochemistry, electron microscopy, and direct immunofluorescence.
