In this paper, we consider the linear theory for a model of a thermopiezoelectric nonsimple material adopting the entropy production inequality proposed by Green and Laws as presentated in Passarella (2022). We establish reciprocity theorems and a variational principle for homogeneous and anisotropic thermopiezoelectric nonsimple materials with a center of symmetry. The proof of these theorems use the time convolution product and an alternative formulation of the field equations. Moreover, a uniqueness result is established without using the definiteness assumptions on internal energy.

In this paper, we use the Green-Naghdi theory of thermomechanics of continua to derive a nonlinear theory of thermoelasticity with microtemperatures of type III. This theory permits propagation of both thermal and microtemperatures waves at finite speeds with dissipation of energy. The equations of the linear theory are also obtained. With the help of the semigroup theory of linear operators we establish that the linear anisotropic problem is well posed and we study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions. In this paper we study the time differential dual-phase-lag model of heat conduction incorporating the microstructural interaction effect in the fast-transient process of heat transport. We analyse the influence of the delay times upon some qualitative properties of the solutions of the initial boundary value problems associated to such a model. Thus, the uniqueness results are established under the assumption that the conductivity tensor is positive definite and the delay times $\tau_q$ and $\tau_T$ vary in the set $\{0\leq \tau_q\leq 2\tau_T\}\cup \{0<2\tau_T< \tau_q\}$. For the continuous dependence problem we establish two different estimates. The first one is obtained for the delay times with $0\leq \tau_q \leq 2\tau_T$, which agrees with the thermodynamic restrictions on the model in concern, and the solutions are stable. The second estimate is established for the delay times with $0<2\tau_T< \tau_q$ and it allows the solutions to have an exponential growth in time. The spatial behavior of the transient solutions and the steady-state vibrations is also addressed. For the transient solutions we establish a theorem of influence domain, under the assumption that the delay times are in $\left\{0<\tau_q\leq 2\tau_T\right\}\cup \left\{0<2\tau_T<\tau_q\right\}$. While for the amplitude of the harmonic vibrations we obtain an exponential decay estimate of Saint-Venant type, provided the frequency of vibration is lower than a critical value and without any restrictions upon the delay times.

This paper deals with the time differential dual-phase-lag heat transfer models aiming, at first, to identify the eventually restrictions that make them thermodynamically consistent. At a first glance it can be observed that the capability of a time differential dual-phase-lag model of heat conduction to describe real phenomena depends on the properties of the differential operators involved in the related constitutive equation. In fact, the constitutive equation is viewed as an ordinary differential equation in terms of the heat flux components (or in terms of the temperature gradient) and it results that, for approximation orders greater than or equal to five, the corresponding characteristic equation has at least a complex root having a positive real part. That leads to a heat flux component (or temperature gradient) that grows to infinity when the time tends to infinity and so there occur some instabilities. Instead, when the approximation orders are lower than or equal to four, this is not the case and there is the need to study the compatibility with the Second Law of Thermodynamics. To this aim the related constitutive equation is reformulated within the system of the fading memory theory, and thus the heat flux vector is written in terms of the history of the temperature gradient and on this basis the compatibility of the model with the thermodynamical principles is analyzed.

We study a problem involving thermosolutal convection in a fluid when the solute concentration is subject to a chemical reaction in which the solubility of the dissolved component is a function of temperature. When the spatial domain is a bounded one in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$ we show that the solution depends continuously on the reaction rate using true \emph{a priori} bounds for the solution when the chemical equilibrium function is an arbitrary function of temperature.
