The scalar fields, $U(1)$ gauge vector fields, and Kalb-Ramond fields are the $0$-form, 1-form, and 2-form fields, respectively. In four-dimensional space-time, free $q$-form fields are equivalent to scalar or vector fields by a duality, however, in higher-dimensional space-time, $q-$form fields correspond to new types of particles. In this paper, with considering a coupling mechanism between the kinetic term of the $q-$form fields and the background spacetime, we investigate the localization of Kaluza-Klein modes for the $q-$form fields on a $D-$dimensional Randall-Sundrum-like brane model. We demonstrate that the zero mode can be localized on the brane, and the massive Kaluza-Klein modes could be localized or quasi-localized on the brane when with certain value of parameters. Then, we present the localization of the scalar fields, $U(1)$ gauge vector fields, and 2-form Kalb-Ramond fields within a five-dimensional bulk spacetime. For a massless scalar field, an interesting characteristic emerges: When the parameter $t_2$ is negative, the zero mode is localized on both sides of the brane, whereas the massive Kaluza-Klein modes can be quasi-localized at the center of the brane., Comment: 39 pages, 20figures, 4 tables

We investigate the gauge invariance of massive vector Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes in different brane models with two extra dimensions. We demonstrate that some additional constraint conditions on the geometry of branes are needed in order to get the gauge invariant effective action of the KK modes. Nevertheless, not all the conditions can be satisfied by the solutions of the branes, which will break the gauge invariance. Moreover, in the branes where the conditions can meet the brane solutions, we calculate mass spectra of vector and scalar KK modes, and the results show that when only one kind of scalar KK modes is found to be massive, the gauge invariance will also be broken., Comment: 14pages, 2 figures

In this paper, we investigate the localization of the $U(1)$ gauge field on Randall-Sundrum-like braneworld models. The localization of the $U(1)$ gauge field is important because it plays a fundamental role in the branworld theories. To achieve the localization, we propose a novel action with a non-minimal coupling between the $U(1)$ gauge field and gravity. We find that the mass spectrum of the gauge field is continuous, without any gap between the zero-mass mode and the massive modes, and except for the zero-mass mode all the massive modes are not localized on the brane. Furthermore, the massive modes have negative squared masses, indicating they are tachyonic. Our analysis can be applied to a wide range of thin and thick braneworld scenarios, provided that the five-dimensional spacetime is asymptotically anti-de Sitter., Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, Accepted by JCAP

Conflict-avoiding codes (CACs) have been used in multiple-access collision channel without feedback. The size of a CAC is the number of potential users that can be supported in the system. A code with maximum size is called optimal. The use of an optimal CAC enables the largest possible number of asynchronous users to transmit information efficiently and reliably. In this paper, a new upper bound on the maximum size of arbitrary equi-difference CAC is presented. Furthermore, three optimal constructions of equi-difference CACs are also given. In this paper, the 2-adic complexity of a class of balanced Whiteman generalized cyclotomic sequences of period $pq$ is considered. Through calculating the determinant of the circulant matrix constructed by one of these sequences, we derive a lower bound on the 2-adic complexity of the corresponding sequence, which further expands our previous work (Zhao C, Sun Y and Yan T. Study on 2-adic complexity of a class of balanced generalized cyclotomic sequences. Journal of Cryptologic Research,6(4):455-462, 2019). The result shows that the 2-adic complexity of this class of sequences is large enough to resist the attack of the rational approximation algorithm(RAA) for feedback with carry shift registers(FCSRs), i.e., it is in fact lower bounded by $pq-p-q-1$, which is far larger than one half of the period of the sequences. We propose a novel mechanism to realize leptogenesis through the Breit-Wigner resonance of a dark $U(1)_D$ gauge boson $Z_D$, which mediates lepton number violating annihilations of dark matter (DM) in the context of the scotogenic model with a $U(1)_D$. The processes occur out of equilibrium and the DM freezes out lately giving rise to the observed abundance. The CP violation required for leptogenesis can be achieved by the interference between tree-level t-channel scattering of DM and the subsequent 1-loop mediated by $Z_D$, which arises due to the unremovable imaginary part of either the $Z_D$ propagator coming from its self-energy correction or the 1-loop giving rise to the effective coupling of $Z_D\bar{\nu}\nu$., Comment: 15 pages and 5 figures, added 2 References

From the paper [JHEP 01 (2019) 021], it is known that the effective action of a massless $U(1)$ gauge vector field on a codimension-2 brane is gauge invariant due to the coupling between the vector Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes with two types of scalar KK modes. It is interesting to generalize this result to a brane world model with an arbitrary number of extra dimensions. In this work, we first investigate the case with three extra dimensions. After KK decomposition, there are three types of scalar KK modes. In addition to the mutual coupling between these scalar modes, there are also coupling between the scalar and the vector KK modes. The coupling constants are not all independent. The relationships between the coupling constants enable us to obtain a gauge invariant effective action, from which we can see that the masses of the vector KK modes depend on all the three extra dimensions. The masses of the scalar modes, however, depend only on two of the three extra dimensions. Then we generalize the results into branes with codimension $d$ ($d=1, 2...$), and find that $d$ will directly affect the masses of the KK modes. In this paper, by performing a general Kaluza-Klein (KK) decomposition, we obtain a gauge invariant effective action for a bulk massless $q$-form field on a $p$-brane with codimension two. There appear four types of KK modes: two $(q-1)$-forms and one $(q-2)$-form in addtion to the ordinary $q$-form, which are essential for the gauge invariance. Due to the two extra dimensions, we find eight Schr\"{o}dinger-like equations for the four modes and their mass spectra are closely related. Moreover, via this decomposition mechanism, the Hodge duality in the bulk naturally induces four coupled dualities on the brane, which guarantees that the physical equavalence of bulk dual fields is preserved under the dimensional reduction.

In this paper, the solutions of the pure geometric thick $f(R)$ brane are investigated. The formulation of $f(R)$ is chosen as $f(R)=\sum_{i=1}^{n}a_{i}R^{i}+\Lambda$. For the certain value of $n$, the brane solution can be calculated, and when $n=3$, $n=4$, and $n=10$, the thick brane solutions are presented. The solutions is stable under linear tensor fluctuation. The zero mode of gravity and scalar field can be localized on thick $f(R)$ branes naturally. The zero mode of vector field and left-chiral fermion can be localized on thick $f(R)$ branes by introducing the coupling with scalar curvature $R$ of spacetime, and the massive resonant modes can be quasilocalized on the brane with the large coupling coefficients., Comment: 22 pages, 18 figures, Phys. In this paper, we obtain a gauge invariant effective action for a bulk massless $U(1)$ gauge vector field on a brane with codimension two by using a general Kaluza-Klein (KK) decomposition for the field. It suggests that there exist two types of scalar KK modes to keep the gauge invariance of the action for the massive vector KK modes. Both the vector and scalar KK modes can be massive. The masses of the vector KK modes $m^{(n)}$ contain two parts, $m_{1}^{(n)}$ and $m_{2}^{(n)}$, due to the existence of the two extra dimensions. The masses of the two types of scalar KK modes $m_{\phi}^{(n)}$ and $m_{\varphi}^{(n)}$ are related to the vector ones, i.e., $m_{\phi}^{(n)}=m_{1}^{(n)}$ and $m_{\varphi}^{(n)}=m_{2}^{(n)}$. We study static kink configurations in a type of two-dimensional higher derivative scalar field theory whose Lagrangian contains second-order derivative terms of the field. The linear fluctuation around arbitrary static kink solutions is analyzed. We find that, the linear spectrum can be described by a supersymmetric quantum mechanics problem, and the criteria for stable static solutions can be given analytically. We also construct a superpotential formalism for finding analytical static kink solutions. Using this formalism we first reproduce some existed solutions and then offer a new solution. The properties of our solution is studied and compared without those preexisted. We also show the possibility in constructing twinlike model in the higher derivative theory, and give the consistency conditions for twinlike models corresponding to the canonical scalar field theory., Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures

The focus of this chapter lies on the possible experimental tests of leptogenesis scenarios. We consider both leptogenesis generated from oscillations, as well as leptogenesis from out-of-equilibrium decays. As the Akhmedov-Rubakov-Smirnov (ARS) mechanism allows for heavy neutrinos in the GeV range, this opens up a plethora of possible experimental tests, e.g. at neutrino oscillation experiments, neutrinoless double beta decay, and direct searches for neutral heavy leptons at future facilities. In contrast, testing leptogenesis from out-of-equilibrium decays is a quite difficult task. We comment on the necessary conditions for having successful leptogenesis at the TeV-scale. We further discuss possible realizations and their model specific testability in extended seesaw models, models with extended gauge sectors, and supersymmetric leptogenesis. Not being able to test high-scale leptogenesis directly, we present a way to falsify such scenarios by focusing on their washout processes. This is discussed specifically for the left-right symmetric model and the observation of a heavy $W_R$, as well as model independently when measuring $\Delta L = 2$ washout processes at the LHC or neutrinoless double beta decay., Comment: 99 pages, 29 figures. Hyper-Kamiokande consists of two identical water-Cherenkov detectors of total 520~kt with the first one in Japan at 295~km from the J-PARC neutrino beam with 2.5$^{\textrm{o}}$ Off-Axis Angles (OAAs), and the second one possibly in Korea in a later stage. Having the second detector in Korea would benefit almost all areas of neutrino oscillation physics mainly due to longer baselines. There are several candidate sites in Korea with baselines of 1,000$\sim$1,300~km and OAAs of 1$^{\textrm{o}}$$\sim$3$^{\textrm{o}}$. We conducted sensitivity studies on neutrino oscillation physics for a second detector, either in Japan (JD $\times$ 2) or Korea (JD + KD) and compared the results with a single detector in Japan. Leptonic CP violation sensitivity is improved especially when the CP is non-maximally violated. The larger matter effect at Korean candidate sites significantly enhances sensitivities to non-standard interactions of neutrinos and mass ordering determination. Current studies indicate the best sensitivity is obtained at Mt. Bisul (1,088~km baseline, $1.3^\circ$ OAA). Thanks to a larger (1,000~m) overburden than the first detector site, clear improvements to sensitivities for solar and supernova relic neutrino searches are expected., Comment: 102 pages, 49 figures. We consider cosmological models driven by several canonical or noncanonical scalar fields. We show how the superpotential method enables one to construct twinlike models for a particular canonical model from some noncanonical ones. We conclude that it is possible to construct twinlike models for multi-field cosmological models, even when the spatial curvature is nonzero. This work extends the discussions of [D. Bazeia and J. D. Dantas, Phys. Rev. D, 85 (2012) 067303] to cases with multi scalar fields and with non-vanished spatial curvature, by using a different superpotential method., Comment: 6 pages

In this paper, we investigate localization of a bulk massless q-form field on codimension-one brane by using a new Kaluza-Klein (KK) decomposition, for which there are two types of KK modes for the bulk q-form field, the q-form and (q-1)-form modes. The first modes may be massive or massless while the second ones are all masselss. These two types fo KK modes satisfy twy Schrodinger-like equations. For a five-dimensional brane model with a finite dimension, the spectrum of a bulk 3-form field on the brane consists of some massive bound 3-form KK modes as well as some massless bound 2-form ones with different configuration along the extra dimension. These 2-form modes are different form those obtained from a bulk 2-form field. For a five-dimensional degenerated Bloch brane model with an infinite extra dimension, some massive 3-form resonant KK modes and corresponding massless 2-form resonant ones are obtained for a bulk 3-form field., Comment: 7 pages, 20 figures

In this paper, the null geodesics and gravitational lensing in a nonsingular spacetime are investigated. According to the nature of the null geodesics, the spacetime is divided into several cases. In the weak deflection limit, we find the influence of the nonsingularity parameter $q$ on the positions and magnifications of the images is negligible. In the strong deflection limit, the coefficients and observables for the gravitational lensing in a nonsingular black hole background and a weakly nonsingular spacetime are obtained. Comparing these results, we find that, in a weakly nonsingular spacetime, the relativistic images have smaller angular position and relative magnification, but larger angular separation than that of a nonsingular black hole. These results might offer a way to probe the spacetime nonsingularity parameter and put a bound on it by the astronomical instruments in the near future., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, 1 table

In this paper, we investigate the problem of localization and the Hodge duality for a $q-$form field on a $p-$brane with codimension one. By a general Kaluza-Klein (KK) decomposition without gauge fixing, we obtain two Schr\"{o}dinger-like equations for two types of KK modes of the bulk $q-$form field, which determine the localization and mass spectra of these KK modes. It is found that there are two types of zero modes (the $0-$level modes): a $q-$form zero mode and a $(q-1)-$form one, which cannot be localized on the brane at the same time. For the $n-$level KK modes, there are two interacting KK modes, a massive $q-$form KK mode and a massless $(q-1)-$form one. By analyzing gauge invariance of the effective action and choosing a gauge condition, the $n-$level massive $q-$form KK mode decouples from the $n-$level massless $(q-1)-$form one. It is also found that the Hodge duality in the bulk naturally becomes two dualities on the brane. The first one is the Hodge duality between a $q-$form zero mode and a $(p-q-1)-$form one, or between a $(q-1)-$form zero mode and a $(p-q)-$form one. The second duality is between two group KK modes: one is an $n-$level massive $q-$form KK mode with mass $m_n$ and an $n-$level massless $(q-1)-$form mode; another is an $n-$level $(p-q)-$form one with the same mass $m_n$ and an $n-$level massless $(p-q-1)-$form mode. Localization of a spin-$1/2$ fermion on the braneworld is an important and interesting problem. It is well known that a five-dimensional free massless fermion $\Psi$ minimally coupled to gravity cannot be localized on the Randall-Sundrum braneworld. In order to trap such a fermion, the coupling between the fermion and bulk scalar fields should be introduced. In this paper, localization and quasilocalization of a bulk fermion on the thick braneworld generated by two scalar fields (a kink scalar $\phi$ and a dilaton scalar $\pi$) are investigated. Two types of couplings between the fermion and two scalars are considered. One coupling is the usual Yukawa coupling $-\eta\bar{\Psi}\phi\Psi$ between the fermion and kink scalar, another one is $\lambda\bar{\Psi}\Gamma^{M}\partial_{M}\pi\gamma^{5}\Psi$ between the fermion and dilaton scalar. The left-chiral fermion zero mode can be localized on the brane, and both the left- and right-chiral fermion massive Kaluza-Klein modes may be localized or quasilocalized. Hence the four-dimensional massless left-chiral fermion and massive Dirac fermions, whose lifetime is infinite or finite, can be obtained on the brane., Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures, and 3 tables

In this paper, we investigate localization of a free massless $q-$form bulk field on thin and thick $AdS_{p+1}$ branes with codimension one. It is found that the zero mode of the $q-$form field with $q>(p+2)/2$ can be localized on the thin negative tension brane, which is different from the flat brane case given in [JHEP 10 (2012) 060]. For the thick $AdS_{p+1}$ branes, the $q-$form field with $q>(p+2)/2$ also has a localized zero mode under some conditions. Furthermore, we find that there are massive bound KK modes of the $q-$form field, which are localized on this type $p-$branes., Comment: 13 pages

The quasinormal mode frequencies can be understood from the massless particles trapped at the unstable circular null geodesics and slowly leaking out to infinity. Base on this viewpoint, in this paper, we construct the quantum entropy spectrum of the stationary black holes from the null geodesics using the new physical interpretation of the quasinormal mode frequencies proposed by Maggiore. Following this idea, we calculate the spacing of the entropy spectrum for various types of black holes with or without the charge and spin in any dimension $d$ of the spacetime. The result shows that the spacing closely depends on the charge, spin, and the dimension of the spacetime. Moreover, for a black hole far from the extremal case, the spacing is found to be larger than $2\pi\hbar$ for $d=4$, while smaller than $2\pi\hbar$ for $d\geq 5$, which is very different from the result of the previous work by using the usual quasinormal mode frequencies, where the spacing of the entropy spectrum is $2\pi\hbar$ and is independent of the black hole parameters and dimension $d$., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, and one table
