Curcuma larsenii Maknoi & Jenjitikul is a member of the Zingiberaceae family, possessing significant pharmacological potential, although it has become endangered through the abuse of resources. This research article delineates the findings of the in vitro propagation, transplantation, and phytochemical profiles of C. larsenii, a rare plant species in Thailand. Microshoots measuring 1 cm in length were used as explants for the induction of shoots and roots in both solid and liquid Murashige and Skoog medium, incorporating various concentrations of cytokinins (6-benzylamino-purine (BA), 6-furfurylaminopurine (kinetin), thidiazuron (TDZ)) and auxins (1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA)) over a duration of 8 weeks. This study assessed the total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity via the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays and conducted high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. The highest number of shoots was recorded in solid and liquid media containing MS medium enriched with 2 mg/L BA and 0.5 mg/L NAA, as well as 2 mg/L BA and 0.5 mg/L IAA, yielding 5.40 and 8.80 shoots/explant, respectively. The biggest roots/explant induction of 9.20 was attained using the liquid MS medium supplemented with 4 mg/L BA and 0.5 mg/L IAA. The highest survival rate (100%) was recorded when tissue culture plantlets were transplanted into a mixture of sand and soil (1:1). In vitro-cultivated plants exhibited superior total phenolic content relative to wild plants. Leaf extracts of C. larsenii exhibited markedly superior antioxidant activity compared to other plant organs from both in vitro and wild specimens. C. larsenii wild plants and in vitro plants generated phenolic acids and flavonoids and exhibited antioxidant activity, demonstrating a biotechnological alternative for the acquisition of bioactive substances. Watermeal (Wolffia globosa) has emerged as a promising candidate as an alternative protein source due to its outstanding nutritional profile. This study evaluated the nutritional quality, functional properties, and biological characteristics of W. globosa. The protein content was found to be high at 26.76 g/100 g of dry weight (DW). Functional properties, including water and oil holding capacities, protein solubility, foaming, and emulsifying abilities across different pH levels, were assessed to determine optimal conditions. Amino acid profiling revealed that essential amino acids constitute 67% of the total amino acids. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), particularly α-linolenic (18:3 n-3) and linoleic acids (18:2 n-6), were identified as the predominant fatty acids. Additionally, watermeal was found to contain significant amounts of α-tocopherol (699 µg/g) and γ-oryzanol (100 µg/g), which contribute to its antioxidant capacity, as confirmed by DPPH and FRAP assays. The prominent protein bands were observed at around 62–67 kDa, likely representing a structural, metabolic protein (vicilin-like protein) of 38% of the total protein content. Overall, W. globosa demonstrates significant potential as a functional food ingredient, offering a rich nutrient profile and health-promoting properties, making it a promising choice for future diets. The seeds of Mahuad (Lepisanthes rubiginosa (Roxb.) Leenh (LRL) were analyzed for proximate composition and the contents of phenolic acids, flavonoids, and sugars/oligosaccharides. The LRL seeds contained approximately 29% moisture, 10% protein, 2% fat, 16% fiber, 2% ash, and 42% carbohydrate. The major phenolic acids were vanillic acid and p-hydroxybenzoic acid, accounting for 30% and 26% of total phenolic content, respectively. The predominant flavonoids were quercetin (62% of total flavonoid content) followed by myricetin (22%). Proline, methionine, and arginine were the dominant amino acids, constituting 35%, 19%, and 13% of total amino acid content, respectively. Prebiotic fructooligosaccharide (5.3 mg/g) and stachyose (4.2 mg/g) were also found in the LRL seeds. The major fatty acids were palmitic acid (C 16:0, 41%), oleic acid (C 18:1n9, 27%), and linoleic acid (C 18:2n6, 19%). This information reveals useful information about LRL seeds as a potential source of bioactive compounds for future use in various aspects including food, feeds, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Objective: To investigate anti-tumor effect of rice bran hydrolysates (RBH) on proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) cells, and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Methods: RBH was prepared from Tubtim Chumprae rice (Oryza sativa L.) by hydrothermolysis followed by protease digestion. Phenolic content in RBH was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography. Human CCA cells, KKU-156, KKU-452, and KKU-100, were used to study the effects of RBH on proliferation, migration, invasion, and adhesion by wound healing, Transwell chamber, and fibronectin cell adhesion assays. Angiogenesis was evaluated using human umbilical vein endothelial cells. Proteins associated with cancer progression were analyzed by immunobloting assays. Results: RBH contained carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and various phenolic compounds and flavonoids. RBH did not inhibit CCA proliferation, but strongly suppressed migration, invasion, adhesion of CCA cells, and the formation of tube-like capillary structures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells. Moreover, RBH down-regulated phosphorylation of FAK, PI3K, and Akt, suppressed NF-κB nuclear translocation, decreased the expression of ICAM-1, vimentin and vascular endothelium growth factor (VEGF), and increased the expression of E-cadherin. Conclusions: RBH suppresses CCA cell migration and invasion and decreases expression of proteins involved in cancer metastasis. RBH is a potential food supplement for cancer prevention. This research studied the influence of phytochemical compounds on the germination time of pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth). Over the 72 hours germination period, the contents of total and most individual free amino acids, particularly histidine, showed substantial increases. The content of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) was also greatly increased, from 0.24 μg/g to 2.7 μg/g, representing a nearly ninefold increase. The total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) were positively related with germination time, with TPC highest at 62.49 mg GAE/100 g DW at 72 h, and TFC increased from 18.87 mg RE/100 g DW to 30.05 mg RE/100g.DW at 72 hours. The contents of individual phenolic acids and flavonoids, such as, protocatechuic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid and rutin, experienced noticeable increases. However, vanillic and catechin were only detectable at 72 hours, respectively. Antioxidant capacity measured by DPPH and FRAP assays increased from 102.30 to 128.95 mgTE/100g DW and 694.13 to 836.93 mg FeSO4/100g DW mmol/g, respectively, and therefore highlighting the enhanced antioxidant potential of germinated pigeon pea. The results from Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) supported these findings. The study emphasizes the potential of germination to enhance the phytochemical compounds of pigeon pea seeds. Effects of drying methods on the stability of phytochemicals and antioxidant properties of ginger (Zingiber officinale) were assessed. The rhizomes were collected at 9 and 12 months after planting and sun-dried, freeze-dried, or oven-dried at 40°, 50°, 60°, or 70° C. Oven drying at 60° C resulted in significant gains of phenolics (441.85 mg.100g−1 d.w), antioxidant activities (78.45 ± 2.04% and 650.45 ± 50.04 μmol Fe (II).g−1 dry extract) of ginger rhizomes at 9 months after planting. Oven drying at 70° C resulted in significant gains of phenolics (450.02 mg.100g−1 dry weight), antioxidant activities (79.34 ± 1.20% and 662.31 ± 17.01 μmol Fe (II).g−1dry extract) of ginger rhizomes at 12 months after planting. This investigation explored chemical changes in cicadas during their developmental stages (nymph, late nymph, and adult). Tocopherols (α, δ, γ) were found at a total content of 13.7 mg/g, while γ-oryzanol was observed at 2.6 mg/g, with nymphs having the highest levels, followed by late nymphs and adults. Essential amino acids increased progressively with maturation, with methionine being the predominant amino acid in all samples. The index of essential amino acids in each tissue was as follows: adult (0.36), late nymph (0.33), and nymph (0.12). Eicosapentaenoic acid concentrations varied from 230 mg/100 g in adults to 880 mg/100 g in nymphs. Protein analysis using the Protein Simple Jess system revealed a molecular weight distribution ranging from 10 to 75 kDa, accounting for approximately 70 % of the total protein content. <b>Background and Objective:</b> <i> Curcuma longa</i> L. rhizomes are the source of many bioactive compounds such as antitumor, antidepressant, antibacterial, anti-aging and antidiabetic. Due to the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it is necessary to find new sources of antibiotics. This research aimed to investigate the antibacterial activity of ethanolic <i>Curcuma longa</i> L. rhizomes extract against <i>Proteus mirabilis, Acinetobacter baumannii</i> and Multidrug-Resistant <i>Klebsiella pneumoniae</i> (MDR-K). <b>Materials and Methods:</b> Dry <i>Curcuma longa</i> L. rhizomes were extracted with ethanol. The agar diffusion method was used as the primary screening of antibacterial activity determination. The broth dilution method was used to measure the MIC and MIC of the extract. <b>Results:</b> It presented the largest diameter of the inhibition zone at 0.9 mm against <i>Proteus mirabilis</i>, followed by 0.8 mm against MDR-K. The lowest MIC and MBC values were at 0.048 and 0.39 mg mL<sup>1</sup> against <i>Proteus mirabilis</i>, followed by 0.195 and 6.25 mg mL<sup>1</sup> against MDR-K. The ethanolic <i>Curcuma longa</i> L. rhizomes extract did not affect <i>Acinetobacter baumannii</i>. <b>Conclusion:</b> The new finding of this research was that the ethanolic extract from <i>Curcuma longa</i> L. rhizomes can eliminate <i>Proteus mirabilis</i> and MDR-K that can be applied to treating antibiotic-resistant bacterial infectious diseases in the hospital.
