Previous studies have shown that personal factors serve as mediators in the link between self-compassion and subjective well-being (SWB). However, these studies have neglected the possibility that online prosocial behavior (OPB) may serve as a mediator in the link between self-compassion and SWB. Based on the PERMA theory of well-being and the protective-protective model, the current study examined whether OPB would mediate the association between self-compassion and individual SWB, and whether gratitude would moderate the association between self-compassion and OPB. A valid sample of 1488 college students (M[subscript age] = 19.84; SD = 1.61) filled out questionnaires regarding demographics, self-compassion, OPB, gratitude, and SWB. Results showed that, after controlling for gender, age, daily online time, and social desirability, OPB mediated the association between self-compassion and individual SWB, and gratitude strengthened the positive association between self-compassion and OPB. These findings reveal that high self-compassionate and grateful people can enhance their subjective well-being through behaving prosocially online.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is one of the most aggressive types of lung cancer. The prognosis of LUAD patients remains poor, and the overall efficacy of gemcitabine-based chemotherapy is still unsatisfactory. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in several cancer types by interacting with multiple proteins, RNA, and DNA. However, the relationship between lncRNA dysregulation and gemcitabine resistance in LUAD has not been fully elucidated. In this study, lncRNA CYTOR expression and its association with the prognosis of LUAD patients are assessed by quantitative RT-PCR and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. In vitro and in vivo functional studies are conducted to evaluate the biological functions of CYTOR in LUAD. The underlying mechanism regarding the tumor-promoting effects of CYTOR is explored using RNA immunoprecipitation, biotin-labelled RNA pulldown, luciferase reporter assays, and western blot analysis. We identify that CYTOR is an oncogenic lncRNA and is apparently upregulated in LUAD by analysing TCGA-LUAD data. High CYTOR expression is a poor prognostic factor for LUAD. Functional studies reveal that CYTOR confers LUAD cells with stronger resistance to gemcitabine treatment and upregulates the expression levels of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins. Mechanically, CYTOR acts as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to absorb miR-125a-5p, weakens the antitumor function of miR-125a-5p, and ultimately upregulates ANLN and RRM2 expressions. Taken together, this study explains the mechanism of lncRNA in the gemcitabine resistance of LUAD and formulates a theoretical framework for the in depth study of LUAD.

Based on the hierarchical model of psychopathology, the theory of compensatory internet use, and the sociocultural self model of behaviour, this study examined whether social anxiety mediated the relationship between neuroticism and problematic online gaming, and whether this mediating process was moderated by family socioeconomic status (FSES). The theoretical model was tested using data collected from 598 Chinese undergraduates (M.sub.age = 19.45 years, SD = 1.63). These participants completed questionnaires anonymously. Testing for moderated mediation revealed that social anxiety partially mediated the association between neuroticism and problematic online gaming, with FSES moderating the second stage of it. Specifically, the indirect effect of neuroticism on problematic online gaming via social anxiety was significant only for undergraduates with low FSES. Although social support has been shown to play an important role in cyberbullying, little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relation. Based on the interpersonal perspective on aggression, the theory of compensatory Internet use, the problem behavior theory, and the stress-vulnerability hypothesis, the present study examined whether Internet addiction mediated the relationship between social support and cyberbullying, and whether the first stage of this mediating process as well as the direct association between social support and cyberbullying was moderated by stress. The theoretical model was tested using data collected from 1067 Chinese university students (M.sub.age = 20.22 years, SD = 1.45). Participants completed anonymous questionnaires assessing their social support, Internet addiction, cyberbullying as well as stress level. Results indicated that Internet addiction partially mediated the association between social support and cyberbullying. Stress played a moderating role in the first stage. Specifically, the effect of social support on Internet addiction was significant only for university students under low stress. The present study aimed to explore the predicting role of selfie-editing in cosmetic surgery consideration among adolescents. The influence of facial dissatisfaction on adolescents' cosmetic surgery consideration was also investigated. Furthermore, we examined the possible mediating effects and the potential gender differences in the mediation model. The model was tested with 767 Chinese adolescents (383 boys and 384 girls, mean age = 15.78 at Time 1, SD = 1.96) using a longitudinal design. Participants completed selfie-editing, facial dissatisfaction, and cosmetic surgery consideration at baseline and at 6-month follow-up. Results showed that the initial selfie-editing and facial dissatisfaction positively predicted the subsequent cosmetic surgery consideration among adolescents over time. Facial dissatisfaction mediated the link from selfie-editing to cosmetic surgery consideration. No gender differences were found in the mediation model. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are involved in tumorigenesis, recurrence, and therapy resistance. To identify critical regulators of sarcoma CSCs, we performed a reporter-based genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screen and uncovered Kruppel-like factor 11 (KLF11) as top candidate. In vitro and in vivo functional annotation defined a negative role of KLF11 in CSCs. Mechanistically, KLF11 and YAP/TEAD bound to adjacent DNA sites along with direct interaction. KLF11 recruited SIN3A/HDAC to suppress the transcriptional output of YAP/TEAD, which, in turn, promoted KLF11 transcription, forming a negative feedback loop. However, in CSCs, this negative feedback was lost because of epigenetic silence of KLF11, causing sustained YAP activation. Low KLF11 was associated with poor prognosis and chemotherapy response in patients with sarcoma. Pharmacological activation of KLF11 by thiazolidinedione effectively restored chemotherapy response. Collectively, our study identifies KLF11 as a negative regulator in sarcoma CSCs and potential therapeutic target.

Quantum dots (QDs) represent a class of nanoscale wide bandgap semiconductors, and are primarily composed of metals, lipids, or polymers. Their unique electronic and optical properties, which stem from their wide bandgap characteristics, offer significant advantages for early cancer detection and treatment. Metal QDs have already demonstrated therapeutic potential in early tumor imaging and therapy. However, biological toxicity has led to the development of various non-functionalized QDs, such as carbon QDs (CQDs), graphene QDs (GQDs), black phosphorus QDs (BPQDs) and perovskite quantum dots (PQDs). To meet the diverse needs of clinical cancer treatment, functionalized QDs with an array of modifications (lipid, protein, organic, and inorganic) have been further developed. These advancements combine the unique material properties of QDs with the targeted capabilities of biological therapy to effectively kill tumors through photodynamic therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other means. In addition to tumor-specific therapy, the fluorescence quantum yield of QDs has gradually increased with technological progress, enabling their significant application in both in vivo and in vitro imaging. Semiconductor nanomaterials have emerged as a significant factor in the advancement of tumor immunotherapy. This review discusses the potential of transition metal oxide (TMO) nanomaterials in the realm of anti-tumor immune modulation. These binary inorganic semiconductor compounds possess high electron mobility, extended ductility, and strong stability. Apart from being primary thermistor materials, they also serve as potent agents in enhancing the anti-tumor immunity cycle. The diverse metal oxidation states of TMOs result in a range of electronic properties, from metallicity to wide-bandgap insulating behavior. Notably, titanium oxide, manganese oxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide, and copper oxide have garnered interest due to their presence in tumor tissues and potential therapeutic implications. These nanoparticles (NPs) kickstart the tumor immunity cycle by inducing immunogenic cell death (ICD), prompting the release of ICD and tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) and working in conjunction with various therapies to trigger dendritic cell (DC) maturation, T cell response, and infiltration. Furthermore, they can alter the tumor microenvironment (TME) by reprogramming immunosuppressive tumor-associated macrophages into an inflammatory state, thereby impeding tumor growth. This review aims to bring attention to the research community regarding the diversity and significance of TMOs in the tumor immunity cycle, while also underscoring the potential and challenges associated with using TMOs in tumor immunotherapy. Phubbing harms relationships and reduces well‐being of phubbees. However, limited research has explored the potential causes and underlying mechanisms for phubbing; and an important risk factor, social anxiety, has been largely ignored from previous studies. The present study employed a moderated mediation model to examine whether social anxiety was positively related to phubbing, whether problematic social networking mediated the relationship, and whether the first path of this mediating process was moderated by family socioeconomic status. The data of 1379 undergraduates (Mage = 18.84; SD = 0.94) were collected anonymously to test the model. Findings demonstrated that social anxiety was positively linked to phubbing, problematic social networking mediated the linkage, and family socioeconomic status played a moderating role in the first stage. Specifically, the indirect association between social anxiety and phubbing via problematic social networking was stronger for undergraduates with lower family socioeconomic status. Results provide a new perspective for understanding phubbing and highlight the significance of uncovering the underlying mechanisms. Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) stands as an aggressive malignancy of the biliary tract. The interplay between the tumor and immune system plays a pivotal role in disease progression and treatment outcomes. Hence, the present study aimed to extensively explore the immunogenomic landscape of CCA, with the objective of unveiling unique molecular and immunological signatures that could guide personalized therapeutic approaches. Methods: The study collected data from The Cancer Genome Atlas databases, performed gene set variation analysis for the chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5) high/low expression group, conducted principal component analysis, gene set enrichment analysis enrichment and mutation pattern analysis, generated a heatmap, and performed cox regression analysis. Results: The two discrete subpopulations were found to exhibit contrasting mutational and immunogenomic characteristics, emphasizing the heterogeneity of CCA. These subsets also showed pronounced discrepancies in the infiltration of immune cells, indicating diverse interactions with the tumor immune microenvironment. Furthermore, the dissimilarities in mutational patterns were observed within the two CCA subgroups, with PBRM1 and BAP1 emerging as the most frequently mutated genes. In addition, a prognostic framework was formulated and validated utilizing the expression profiles of COX16 and RSAD2 genes, effectively segregating patients into high‐risk and low‐risk cohorts. Furthermore, the connections between immune‐related parameters and these risk groups were identified, underscoring the potential significance of the immune microenvironment in patient prognosis. In vitro experiments have shown that COX16 promotes the proliferation and metastasis of CCA cells, whereas RSAD2 inhibits it. Conclusions: The present study provides an intricate depiction of the immunogenomic landscape of CCA based on CCL5 expression, thereby paving the way for novel immunotherapy strategies and prognostic assessment.
