Dipeptidyl-peptidase-like protein-6 (DPPX) antibody associated encephalitis, an unusual multifocal neurological disorder that can be severe regarding symptomatology, has been increasingly recognized over the last decade. There have been relatively few cases of anti-DPPX-encephalitis reported in the literature, and there are no studies or case reports reviewing this diagnosis from a psychiatric perspective. We present the case of a patient assessed by the psychiatry consultation service for depressed mood, psychosis and sleep disturbance in the setting of anti-DPPX encephalitis. The aim of this case report is to examine the psychiatric sequelae of anti-DPPX encephalitis as well as current and proposed treatment strategies.
