Actualmente en las Instituciones de Educación Superior del Ecuador no existen procesos de gestión para impulsar el emprendimiento como una actividad principal para el desarrollo socioeconómico del país, ya que su objetivo de formación se orienta a la generación de profesionales que se desempeñen en el campo laboral de acuerdo con las carreras ofertadas. La metodología utilizada para el presente trabajo de investigación, se enmarca dentro de una revisión bibliográfica de tipo documental. La técnica para la recolección de datos está constituida por materiales electrónicos, estos últimos como Google Académico, PubMed, Science direct, entre otros, apoyándose para ello en el uso de descriptores en ciencias de la salud o terminología MESH. La información aquí obtenida será revisada para su posterior análisis. La universidad no solo debe centrarse en la formación de profesionales que vayan al mercado laboral y se conviertan en profesionales económicamente activos que por su desempeño aporten al desarrollo del país, la universidad debe también formar a personas que tengan la capacidad de emprender y de crear negocios productivos que generen empleos y aporten al PIB, claro está, no todos los estudiantes o profesionales que egresan de una institución de educación superior tienen la capacidad y el deseo de emprender, pero s aquellos que si lo desean deben adquirir los conocimientos que les den las herramientas necesarias para poder desarrollar un negocio exitoso, cuando existe disciplina, organización, planificación administrativa, financiera y la capacidad de adaptarse al mercado, los emprendimientos pueden ser exitoso y perdurar en el tiempo, mas que una política económica las instituciones de educación superior en conjunto con el ministerio de educación deben generar políticas educativas para generar el conocimiento emprendedor en los estudiantes y luego generar las políticas económicas y financiera para proporcionarles apoyo financiero.

El método de tránsito es un método efectivo para identificar planetas extrasolares, que se basa en la disminución poco profunda que provoca un planeta en el brillo aparente de su estrella anfitriona. Sin embargo, los eventos de tránsito están muy cerca del límite de la sensibilidad de detección de los telescopios y se necesitan al menos tres (3) eventos de tránsito producidos por el mismo planeta para confirmar el descubrimiento de éste, lo que hace que se requieran observaciones por tiempos prolongados de una estrella para detectar planetas extrasolares que puedan estar orbitandola, lo que resulta en grandes cantidades de datos que deben ser analizados. En este trabajo se desarrolló una nueva tuberia de software (pipeline) para la detección autónoma de rastros de tránsitos planetarios analizando características extraídas de curvas de luz estelares utilizando un clasificador de lógica difusa, evadiendo la tarea de buscar tránsitos en cada sección de las curvas de luz. Para el desarrollo de esta tuberia de software se implementó la metodologia llamada: Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) la cual presenta una forma de extraer conocimiento de grandes conjuntos de datos.

The development of sustainable, cost-efficient, and high-performance nanofluids is one of the current research topics within drilling applications. The inclusion of tailorable nanoparticles offers the possibility of formulating water-based fluids with enhanced properties, providing unprecedented opportunities in the energy, oil, gas, water, or infrastructure industries. In this work, the most recent and relevant findings related with the development of customizable nanofluids are discussed, focusing on those based on the incorporation of 2D (two-dimensional) nanoparticles and environmentally friendly precursors. In this work, a numerical model for the simulation of two-phase electrohydrodynamic (EHD) problems is proposed. It is characterized by a physically consistent treatment of surface tension as well as a jump in the electric material properties. The formulation is based on a finite element method enriched with special shape functions, capable of accurate capturing discontinuities both in the fluid pressure and the gradient of the electric potential. Phase interface is, thus, represented as a zero-thickness boundary. The proposed methodology allows modeling the electric force as an interfacial one, strictly abiding with the physics. The approach is tested using the droplet deformation benchmarks. Moreover, application of the method to study a three-dimensional (3D) case, not characterized by symmetry of revolution, is shown. The proposed methodology defines a basis for an enriched finite element method for a wide range of EHD problems. Actualmente a nivel mundial se utiliza la reacción en cadena de la polimerasa con transcriptasa inversa (RT-PCR) como una técnica de alta precisión en la detección y amplificación de secciones específicas de la estructura génica. En tal sentido es considerado como prueba diagnóstica molecular en la detección del SARS-CoV-2. Se realizó una revisión de la literatura en artículos publicados en los últimos 5 años (2015 – 2020). Se consultaron las bases de datos: PUBMED (Medline), PUBMED CENTRAL, y SCIELO. Se recuperaron artículos en español, portugués, e inglés, mediante los términos de búsqueda SARS-CoV-2, RT-PCR, y COVID-19. Las RT-PCR que utilicen especímenes de hisopado nasal y faríngeos son considerados como gold standard en casos sospechosos de COVID-19. Mediante lo revisado a nivel de Sudamérica, la RT-PCR resultó ser la prueba de elección durante el período menor a 7 días de infección, resaltando la producción in house en escala por Uruguay y la Prueba de amplificación isotérmica mediada por bucle (RT-LAMP) adaptado en Perú, como una alternativa diagnóstica rápida con principios similares a la RT-PCR, solo que para establecimientos de salud con menor equipamiento, e infraestructura y personal entrenado. La disponibilidad de pruebas diagnósticas moleculares también es crucial para el aislamiento de casos positivos y el seguimiento de la cadena epidemiológica de transmisión.

The development of innovative engineered epoxy composites aiming to manufacture cost-efficient materials with reduced weight and enhanced physical properties remains as a current industrial challenge. In this work we report an original procedure for manufacturing glass-fiber epoxy reinforced nanocomposites (GFECs) by employing electrospun fiber-mats as a reinforcing phase. These fibers have been produced from polyacrylonitrile and multiwalled carbon nanotubes solutions. Optimal protocols are designed by combining Taguchi method with the morphological, structural and mechanical properties obtained by scanning electron microscopy, profilometry and tensile tests. It is demonstrated that GFECs fabricated using GF800 glass fiber show an improvement/enhancement of the mechanical properties with a fracture strain up to 500¿MPa (around 20% higher than the non-reinforced epoxy composite counterpart). It is also shown that GFECs fabricated using GF3M glass fiber exhibited a reduction of the roughness up to 56%, which corresponds with a roughness improvement from N8 to N7 following the guidelines provided by the ISO 1302. These results suggest that this type of nanocomposites would be suitable to be used in the aeronautics and automotive industries. El situs inversus totalis(SIT) es una afección infrecuente no invalidante; su presencia no predispone a la colelitiasis. La colecistectomía laparoscópica(CL) puede realizarse sin mayor riesgo pero con alguna dificultad; la conversión es posible cuando se encuentra una variación anatómica acompañante; se presenta un caso conocido de SIT portador de colelitiasis intervenido quirúrgicamente con evolución favorable.

El objetivo del estudio es determinar la actividad antibacteriana de Metformina frente a Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus y Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Se evaluó la actividad antibacteriana mediante la técnica de Kirby Bauer. Se utilizó cepas de Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923) y Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853), las cuales se expusieron a Metformina en concentraciones de 250 mg y 500 mg, Ciprofloxacino (CIP) 5 µg, Imipenem (IPM) 10 µg, y Cefoxitin (FOX) 30 µg. Frente a Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus y Pseudomonas aeruginosa se presentó un halo de inhibición de 6 mm. para Metformina 250 mg, 6 mm. para Metformina 500 mg, y un halo de inhibición >25 mm. con el uso de Ciprofloxacino 5 µg, Cefoxitin 30 µg, e Imipenem 10 µg respectivamente. En conclusion, In vitro Metformina a dosis de 250 y 500 mg, no presentó efecto antibacteriano frente a Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus y Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

El presente estudio analizó la realidad del proceso enseñanza y aprendizaje del idioma Inglés de los estudiantes de la carrera de Comunicación Social nivel 1, de la Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena. El objetivo es demostrar si 32 horas clases presenciales de enseñanza del idioma inglés permiten alcanzar el nivel A1 del idioma de acuerdo al Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las lenguas, tomando como herramienta principal la metodología de enseñanza de blended learning. El estudio se realizó bajo el planteamiento metodológico mixto, que permite demostrar la hipótesis planteada; el procedimiento se aplicó bajo un diseño longitudinal, acompañado de una metodología descriptiva y cuasi-experimental. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó la encuesta y la documentación. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran la necesidad de incrementar la carga horaria para que los estudiantes logren alcanzar el nivel A1, ya que sus habilidades y destrezas no se comparan con lo exigido por el Marco Común Europeo.

The performance of fibrous membrane composites fabricated via electrospinning is strongly influenced by the solution's properties, process variables and ambient conditions, although a precise mechanism for controlling the properties of the resulting composite has remained elusive. In this work, we focus on the fabrication of electrospun poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) fibers, by varying both the polymer concentration and the mixture of ethanol (EtOH) and dimethylformamide (DMF) used as solvent. The impact of the solvent composition on the structural properties is assessed by a combined experimental and theoretical approach, employing scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), rheology, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and stress–strain curves obtained from tensile tests to characterize the fibrous membranes produced, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations to explain the solvent's affect on PVP crystallization. We establish a morphological phase diagram, and propose a possible mechanism based on the measured fiber diameter distribution, the viscoelastic properties of the precursor solution, the correlation between the functional groups and the mechanical properties, the thermal transitions and the degree of crystallinity. We also employ DFT calculations to model the polymer coverage at equilibrium of a PVP polymer chain in the presence of EtOH/DMF solvent mixtures to corroborate the crucial role their O or –OH groups play in achieving high PVP coverages and promoting the stability of the resulting fiber. These findings will be valuable to researchers interested in predicting, modulating, and controlling both a fiber's morphology and its concomitant physico-chemical properties.

The hexagonal D019-Mn3Ga phase is a non-collinear antiferromagnet with a triangular spin configuration. The Mn magnetic moments, lying in the (0 0 1) basal plane, are slightly canted towards the c axis producing a ferromagnetic component (FMC), which saturation magnetization in bulk samples is 7.7 kAm−1. Here, we report on the epitaxial growth of Mn3Ga epitaxial thin films on MgO(1 1 1), GaN(0 0 1) and MgO(0 0 1)/Pt(1 1 1) substrates with lattices mismatches of −4.77%, 2.1%, and 2.45%, respectively. Structural characterization with reflection high-energy electron diffraction was used to evaluate the critical thicknesses at which relaxation is reached. We provide evidence of the manipulation of the magnitude of the FMC of the Mn3Ga thin films grown under tensile and compressive deformations. The FMC has been tuned from 23.7 to 11.8 and 2.5 kAm−1 for the growth of Mn3Ga on MgO(1 1 1), GaN(0 0 1), and MgO(0 0 1)/Pt(1 1 1) substrates. The modulation of the FMC is explained in terms of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction.

This work aims at bridging experimental and numerical approaches to determine the optimal operating parameters for the fabrication of well-shaped polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) particles via electrohydrodynamic atomization. Particular emphasis is given to the role of the PVP solution viscosity. Solutions of PVP at various concentrations dissolved in Dimethylformamide (DMF) were prepared and analyzed. Numerical simulation using a coupled electro-CFD model was used to determine the ranges of experimental flow rate and the voltage, ensuring that well-shaped spherical particles are produced. It was deduced that the optimal combination of the parameters (flow rate, voltage, and polymer concentration) can be well approximated by a scaling law. The established relationship allowed determination of a stability island that guarantees that the given polymer solution will form spherical particles. Analyzing morphology and sizes of the particles manufactured in the optimal parameters range, we show, among others, that the size of the PVP particles can be predicted as a function of the flow rate by a power scaling relationship. In this paper, we present the simulation and experimental results of the first closed-loop system based on a directly modulated VCSEL in a gain-switching condition to generate optical frequency combs (OFC). In order to simulate the self-starting VCSEL-based optical frequency comb generator (SVOFC), we applied an intrinsic parameter extraction process to a C-band VCSEL using laser rate equations, static and dynamic measurements, and equivalent circuit models. The widest (62 GHz) and flattest (0.8) simulated OFC is obtained when the repetition frequency f0 is 2.5 GHz. Implementation of the C-band SVOFC also shows that under constant electrical conditions, flatness higher than 0.85 and spectral widths of 50 GHz are obtained when f0 = 2.5 GHz. The lowest phase noise at 10 kHz from the extracted electrical carrier is -127 dBc/Hz and is obtained when the optical fiber length is 5 km and f0 = 1.25 GHz.

Electrospinning is a promising process to fabricate functional parts from macrofibers and nanofibers of bio-compatible materials including collagen, polylactide (PLA), and polyacrylonitrile (PAN). However, the functionality of the produced parts highly rely on quality, repeatability, and uniformity of the electrospun fibers. Due to the variations in material composition, process settings, and ambient conditions, the process suffers from large variations. In particular, the fiber formation in the stable regime (i.e., Taylor cone and jet) and its propagation to the substrate plays the most significant role in the process stability. This work aims to designing a fast process monitoring tool from scratch for monitoring the dynamic electrospinning process based on the Taylor cone and jet videos. Nevertheless, this is challenging since the videos are of high frequency and high dimension, and the monitoring statistics may not have a parametric distribution. To achieve this goal, a framework integrating image analysis, sketch-based tensor decomposition, and non-parametric monitoring, is proposed. In particular, we use Tucker tensor-sketch (Tucker-TS) based tensor decomposition to extract the sparse structure representations of the videos. Additionally, the extracted monitoring variables are non-normally distributed, hence non-parametric bootstrap Hotelling T2 control chart is deployed to handle this issue during the monitoring. The framework is demonstrated by electrospinning a PAN-based polymeric solution. Finally, it is demonstrated that the proposed framework, which uses Tucker-TS, largely outperformed the computational speed of the alternating least squares (ALS) approach for the Tucker tensor decomposition, i.e., Tucker-ALS, in various anomaly detection tasks while keeping the comparable anomaly detection accuracy.

Communities of microorganisms in the soil can affect plants' growth and interactions with aboveground herbivores. Thus, there is growing interest in utilizing soil microbiomes to improve plant performance in agriculture (e.g., for pest control), but little is known about the phenotypic responses of various crop species to different microbiomes. In this study, we inoculated four crop species from different botanical families, maize (Zea mays, Poaceae), cucumber (Cucumis sativus, Cucurbitaceae), tomato (Solanum lycopersicum, Solanaceae), and lettuce (Lactuca sativa, Asteraceae), with diverse soil microbiomes originating from actively-managed agricultural fields or fallow fields under varying stages of succession (1, 3, and 16-years post-agriculture) sourced from a large-scale field experiment. We compared the crops' responses to these different microbiomes by assessing their growth and resistance to two generalist insect pests, cabbage looper (Trichoplusia ni) and fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda). These different microbiomes affected both plant growth and resistance, but the effects were species-specific. For instance, lettuce produced the largest leaves when inoculated with a 3-year fallow microbiome, the microbiome in which cucumber performed worst. Plants were generally more resistant to T. ni when inoculated with the later succession microbiomes, particularly in contrast to those treated with agricultural microbiomes. However, for tomato plants, the opposite pattern was observed with regard to S. frugiperda resistance. Collectively, these results indicate that plant responses to microbiomes are species-specific and emphasize the need to characterize the responses of taxonomically diverse plant species to different microbiomes.

El presente libro proviene de la motivacion del Programa de Fisioterapia de la Universidad Santiago de Cali en contribuir a la comunidad academica y profesional con un texto que compile los principales paradigmas teoricos que aportan al desarrollo disciplinar, y que han permitido abordar diversas problematicas de investigacion y de la practica en diferentes contextos de desempeno del fisioterapeuta en el entramado de lo clinico y social. La compilacion de teorias y modelos en los tradicionales campos de accion, traducen en gran medida la complejidad de los saberes en torno al movimiento corporal humano como objeto de estudio de la fisioterapia, y constituye un ejercicio academico donde cada autor desde su experiencia y formacion reconoce este objeto como un resultado de elementos fisicos, psicologicos y sociales que impactan el bienestar y la salud del hombre.

We present the results of the implementation of two VCSEL-based optoelectronic oscillators (VBO) using one on-chip 850-nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL). The reported VBOs are implemented at 10 and 12 GHz using a direct-modulated VCSEL. The laser direct modulation bandwidth is 13.3 GHz. The VBOs performance is described through the phase noise and time-domain stability.

Tripartite motif (TRIM)7 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that was first identified through its interaction with glycogenin-1 (GN1), the autoglucosyltransferase that initiates glycogen biosynthesis. A growing body of evidence indicates that TRIM7 plays an important role in cancer development, viral pathogenesis, and atherosclerosis and, thus, represents a potential therapeutic target. TRIM family proteins share a multidomain architecture with a conserved N-terminal TRIM and a variable C-terminal domain. Human TRIM7 contains the canonical TRIM motif and a B30.2 domain at the C terminus. To contribute to the understanding of the mechanism of action of TRIM7, we solved the X-ray crystal structure of its B30.2 domain (TRIM7B30.2) in two crystal forms at resolutions of 1.6 Å and 1.8 Å. TRIM7B30.2 exhibits the typical B30.2 domain fold, consisting of two antiparallel β-sheets of seven and six strands, arranged as a distorted β-sandwich. Furthermore, two long loops partially cover the concave face of the β-sandwich defined by the β-sheet of six strands, thus forming a positively charged cavity. We used sequence conservation and mutational analyses to provide evidence of a putative binding interface for GN1. These studies showed that Leu423, Ser499, and Cys501 of TRIM7B30.2 and the C-terminal 33 amino acids of GN1 are critical for this binding interaction. Molecular dynamics simulations also revealed that hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interactions play a major role in the stability of a modeled TRIM7B30.2-GN1 C-terminal peptide complex. These data provide useful information that could be used to target this interaction for the development of potential therapeutic agents.

La madera de balsa ecuatoriana tiene una alta importancia a nivel comercial debido a su peso ligero y sus propiedades mecánicas únicas. En el presente trabajo se realizó un estudio experimental con el fin de determinar las propiedades mecánicas de dicho material de acuerdo a la norma ASTM D143 por lo que se llevaron a cabo ensayos que evalúan las propiedades tales como: módulo de elasticidad longitudinal (MOE), módulo de ruptura (MOR), resistencia a la compresión paralela y perpendicular a la fibra, y resistencia a la cizalla paralela a la fibra, sobre muestras secas con un contenido de humedad aproximado de 12%, las muestras utilizadas fueron clasificadas en las tres clases de densidad internacional (80 ≤ 120, 120 ≤ 180 y180 ≤ 220 kg/m3). Además de determinar valores promedio para cada propiedad según la clase a la que pertenece, se describen modelos que relacionan las propiedades mecánicas con la densidad. Así se tiene que el MOE, MOR, resistencia a la compresión paralela y perpendicular a la fibra son proporcionales con la densidad de manera lineal, mientras que la resistencia a la cizalla paralela a la fibra se comporta de manera no lineal.

We present the implementation results of a VCSEL based optoelectronic oscillator (VBO) in terms of phase noise and time jitter in the electrical and optical domain. The electrical signal at 1.25 GHz is used as a clock for Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ) data generation. A system for optical pulse data generation to obtain duty cycles (DC) lower than 30% is proposed and simulated.

This study aims to determine the correct amount of components to formulate a mixture of Short-Reinforced Fiber Cement Composite (SRFCC) material, characterize its rheological behavior, and evaluate its performance in the additive manufacturing process. Basic concepts from rheology and cement-based materials were used, making emphasis in their applications for manufacturing processes. The experimentation procedures for a SRFCC were described. In addition, the experimental extrusion system is depicted, in which the validity of the material was verified according to its behavior during the 3D printing process. The results derived from the rheological characterization were presented, allowing for the determination of behavioral and intrinsic properties of the material. Lastly, a series of optimal parameters for a successful extrusion process was established.

International audience; In this article, we propose the generation of a microwave signal through a VCSEL Based Optoelectronic Oscillator (VBO) for free space communication applications. This system is implemented using VCSELs in the O-band and C-band. The signals generated at 1.25 GHz and 2.49 GHz are used to produce experimentally Return-to-Zero On Off Keying (RZ-OOK) and Return-to-Zero Differential Phase Shift Keying (RZ-DPSK) modulations for free space optical communication.

La situación actual de los profesores de inglés que no han obtenido una certificación o el nivel B2 de inglés requerido, según el común europeo Framework for Languages, se vuelve más difícil debido a las restricciones gubernamentales. Este trabajo se considera como el inicio de un proceso analítico que producirá resultados que ayudarán a la sociedad de la enseñanza a autoevaluarse y evaluar el medio ambiente a través de pasos a seguir, para mejorar. Los resultados de esta investigación brindarán a los maestros una visión real de la importancia del desarrollo profesional y la mejora continua para ellos y para sus estudiantes, solicitando a las instituciones educativas donde trabajan. El apoyo a la viabilidad del desarrollo profesional de los docentes. Esta investigación se basa en la episteme dialectal que cubre el desarrollo personal del profesor en relación con los cambios continuos. De la Ley de Educación del Ecuador, siguiendo un enfoque cualitativo, de alcance exploratorio y descriptivo. El marco metodológico tiene características teóricas, inductivo-lógicas y sintéticas-analíticas, aplicando la encuesta como la principal herramienta de investigación para la recolección de datos. Los resultados determinaron la falta de información profesional, motivación, apoyo y el uso y / o aplicación inadecuados de prácticas pedagógicas e instrumentos académicos para el profesor de inglés.

This paper presents the implementation of an OFDM radio over fiber (RoF) system at 2.5 GHz using software defined radio (SDR). In this work, first we present an introduction of the main concepts about radio over fiber and an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system at 2.5 GHz, then we present a comparison of an OFDM RoF system in three scenarios, modifying the wireless distances and the optical fiber distance in order to evaluate the performance of the system taking into account the symbol error rate (SER) vs signal to noise ratio (SNR) curves.

This research investigated the properties of crumb rubber modified asphalt mixtures, using a wet process. Different size of crumb rubber particles have been used to analyze their effects on modified asphalt. Moreover, two types of crumb rubber were use; one was used without any change (powder 1), while the other one the ferrous material was removed (powder 2). The tests of chemical compositions and microstructure were performed by Scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and optical microscope, respectively. Finally, the results obtained confirm that the rheology of this modified asphalt depends on the chemical compositions of the crumb rubber at low temperatures.

Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase's (GAPDH's) competitor of Siah Protein Enhances Life (GOSPEL) is the protein that competes with Siah1 for binding to GAPDH under NO-induced stress conditions preventing Siah1-bound GAPDH nuclear translocation and subsequent apoptosis. Under these conditions, GAPDH may also form amyloid-like aggregates proposed to be involved in cell death. Here, we report the in vitro enhancement by GOSPEL of NO-induced GAPDH aggregation resulting in the formation GOSPEL-GAPDH co-aggregates with some amyloid-like properties. Our findings suggest a new function for GOSPEL, contrasting with its helpful role against the apoptotic nuclear translocation of GAPDH. NAD+ inhibited both GAPDH aggregation and co-aggregation with GOSPEL, a hitherto undescribed effect of the coenzyme against the consequences of oxidative stress. Fil: Gonzalez, María C.. In this article, microwave signal generation is implemented by using the optical injection locking technique. Two semiconductor laser sources are used: a Fabry-Perot laser is mode-locked to a single mode Vertical-Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL).

In a transforming, complex, and innovating telecommunications industry with evolving business models, providers have to resolve how the pricing of their services in a context with many unknowns and few equations. This paper proposes a cost assignment model based on differentiating the set of required services a user consumes in a granular network architecture, to get a requested content. Unlike the flat rate model, this model is focused on obtaining a variable pricing methodology that reflects the actual use of network resources that users utilize to get specific content. There are exploring elements to establish the importance of this topic; the theoretical models of pricing are reviewed, the complexity of the costing issue and the influence of content providers on the real network operating cost are explored. Also, a precise cost model is proposed, as well as some cases of the application of the model in the real world.

In this work we present the numerical analysis of the motion of a rigid body immersed in a viscous fluid. The fluid flow induced by the gravity-driven motion of a rigid body is particularly analysed using cylinders and spheres. The Navier–Stokes equations coupled with the interface motion are solved in the framework of a finite element formulation. The interface of the rigid body is represented using a moving Lagrangian interface technique (MLIT). The proposed formulation is applied to describe the two-dimensional motion of a cylinder between parallel walls as well as the axisymmetric representation of a sphere assessing in both cases the effects of the walls distance on the velocity developed by such bodies. The numerical predictions are verified using different models for the analysis of the problem, and are validated by comparison with theoretical–empirical correlations. Moreover, the computed body velocities are compared with experimental data reported in the literature as well as measurements obtained from experiments carried out in the framework of the present work.

Este artículo da a conocer la posibilidad que tiene la clase de Educación Física de convertirse en un ambiente promotor de estilos de vida saludables en el contexto educativo. Mediante la construcci6n de un marco metodol6gico etnografico y her- menéutico, se estructuraron, aplicaron y analizaron algunas actividades en la clase de educación física, relacionadas con actitudes y comportamientos saludables de las categorías: autoestima, autoconcepto, autocontrol, dieta sana y actividad física. A manera de conclusiones y recomendaciones, se destaca la relevancia de la clase y del profesor en la educación de la salud. AbstractThis article discloses the possibility that Physical Education class can bring as a promoter of healthy lifestyles in an educational context. The outcome of the research was that, through the construction of a methodological framework, we structured, apply and analyze some activities in physical education class related to healthy at- titudes and behaviors in the categories of self-esteem, self-concept, self-control, healthy diet and physical activity. This showed a way of conclusion and recommen- ded the relevance of the class and of the professor in the education of health.
