Background: Amidst current misinformation, media literacy is an essential competency for nursing professionals. This study aimed to analyze the level of media health literacy among Spanish undergraduate nursing students, stratifying the results by gender, region, and other associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at five Spanish universities (N = 416) using the Spanish version of the Media Health Literacy (MeHLit-SV) Questionnaire. Results: Students presented an average media health literacy score of 48.73 points. The media health literacy level was significantly higher among students from universities in the central and northeastern regions of Spain (ANOVA Test, p = 0.0002), those who had previously studied in a city (ANOVA Test, p = 0.001), those who combined their studies with employment (ANOVA Test, p = 0.001), and those residing in communities with fewer than 500 inhabitants (ANOVA Test, p = 0.001). No differences were found based on gender. Conclusions: The media health literacy level of the students was deficient and varied according to socio-economic and socio-educational factors. Understanding the literacy level of future nurses and promoting the inclusion of this competency in their education will enable them to become leaders in improving the population's health self-care. In recent years, there has been an increase in the practice of chemsex, which is becoming an increasingly serious public health problem. The complex interaction between chemsex and mental health underscores the need to understand the psychological, social, and environmental factors that influence this practice. Methods: A qualitative descriptive phenomenological study was conducted in the community of Madrid, Spain to explore the depth of the chemsex phenomenon through a thematic analysis. Between April and June 2024, interviews were conducted with 15 MSM (gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men) who participate in these practices, using purposive and snowball sampling. Results: three main themes were identified, namely, (T1) contextualization of the practice, (T2) factors associated with chemsex, and (T3) strategies and interventions for risk and harm reduction. Conclusion: Chemsex is a phenomenon that combines sexual practices with substance use in complex social environments, presenting significant risks to physical, mental, and sexual health. Background: Chemsex has been defined as the deliberate use of drugs for prolonged sexual intercourse between gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM). Drugs associated with chemsex can trigger mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, risk of psychosis and suicidal ideation, social isolation, stigmatization, and even loss of impulse control and lack of coping strategies. Currently, the increase in illicit drugs in a sexual context is considered an outbreak of a public health emergency. Objective: The aim of this study is the construction and validation of the Chem-Sex Inventory (CSI), a new scale to assess the mental health risk of chemsex behaviors. Methods: A cross-sectional design was conducted to study 563 participants. Data were collected through an online questionnaire between January and April 2023, and the construct validity of the CSI was assessed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The sample was, on average, 36 years old (SD: ±9.2). The majority of gender identity was cisgender (97.7%). A factor structure was found that can be summarized in four dimensions: emotional instability, risk of psychosis, altered body perception, and risk of suicide. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) presents adequate reliability values, with a Cronbach's alpha above 0.87 for all dimensions and a McDonald's omega above 0.88 with a good fit of the 42 items. Conclusions: Our study has shown that the Chem-Sex Inventory (CSI) scale has factorial validity and could be used in clinical practice and research to measure the behavioral contribution of the chemsex phenomenon in MSM. The phenomenon of chemsex has emerged as an essential public health issue in recent years. This systematic review aimed to investigate currently available harm reduction strategies and to evaluate the efficacy of the corresponding interventions. Methods: A systematic review of the scientific literature related to harm and risk reduction strategies and the effectiveness of chemsex interventions. Between January 2024 and May 2024, the articles were retrieved from the electronic databases Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus, PsycInfo, Cochrane, Dialnet, CUIDEN, and SciELO. The review protocol was registered in the PROSPERO database (registration number CRD42024508953). The inclusion criteria were as follows: (I) original studies published in peer-reviewed journals, (II) studies exploring harm reduction interventions for chemsex, and (III) studies reflecting the efficacy of harm reduction interventions for chemsex. Two reviewers independently selected articles by title, abstract, and full paper review and extracted data. Two authors described the selected studies and assessed their methodological quality. Results: The systematic review comprised six scientific papers that met the selection criteria and were obtained from five countries. Although a limited number of studies were included, it was observed that they presented a medium–high methodological quality. Programs evaluated interventions to reduce harm from chemsex, such as a web-based intervention that improved self-efficacy to refuse risky behaviors and accept HIV testing. The studies suggested that peer-led programs can be effective, especially with facilitators who have experienced chemsex dependence. Conclusion: Harm reduction strategies in chemsex are effective and should be promoted by health professionals. Interventions should be accessible, personalized, and non-judgmental to provide appropriate care and support, ensuring a comprehensive and effective public health response. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Objectives: The increase in indications for hematopoietic cell transplants (HCTs) has led to the development of new care options after said transplant, such as home care after transplantation, which improves the patients' quality of life. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the differences in the appearance of post-transplant complications between patients having underwent autologous HCT with at-home post-transplant modalities and those under in-hospital post-transplant care. Materials and Methods: An observational, analytical, longitudinal, and retrospective study of cases and controls. All transplanted people in the domiciliary model since 2020 are included as cases (20 subjects). For each case, two controls (40 subjects) are proposed among patients who received an autologous transplant in a hospital in the last five years with a similar demographic and pathological base profile in each case. Results: No significant differences were found between cases and controls, except for the Karnofsky value, which was higher in people receiving home treatment (91.7% vs. 87.74%; p = 0.05). The average number of days of the process post-transplantation was more significant at home (processing days 22.4 ± 2.6; post-transplantation days of 16.4 ± 2.08 versus 21.21 ± 4.18, with a mean of 15.51 ± 3.96 days post-transplant (days of the process p = 0.022; days post-transplant p = 0.002)). There is a more significant presence of neutropenic fever, mucositis, and positive blood cultures in the post-transplant patients who remain in the hospital. In contrast, the patients receiving home care post-transplantation undergo significantly more weight loss. Regarding the odds ratio of the appearance of adverse events, in the hospital setting, it is up to 8.5 times more likely to encounter neutropenic fever, 4.63 times more likely for mucositis, and 6.65 times more likely for the presence of pathogens in blood cultures. Conclusions: The home care modality in the post-transplant phase does not show an inferiority in conditions in the management and safety of the patient concerning the appearance of adverse events. However, more significant weight loss is detected in patients at home, and an increased risk of episodes of neutropenic fever, mucositis, and positive blood cultures for patients in hospital settings. Background: Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability worldwide. Stroke nurses play an important role in the care of patients living with stroke by using best practices and adhering to stroke-management guidelines. This study aims at examining the current nursing practice for stroke patients in Saudi Arabia. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive design was used to collect data from nurses working in the stroke unit and intensive care unit between the period of February and June 2022 using electronic self-administered questionnaires. Results: A convenience sample of 131 nurses who provided care for stroke patients was enrolled. Significant differences in nursing practice were found between the stroke units and the intensive care units regarding the activation of the stroke code, X2 (4, N = 131) = 48.34, p < 0.001; transferring stroke patients to a designated bed, X2 (4, N = 131) = 48.74, p = 0.002; applying the NIHSS, X2 (4, N = 131) = 70.11, p < 0.001; using the modified Rankin scale, X2 (4, N = 131) = 61.24, p < 0.001; providing intervention for neglect syndrome, X2 (4, N = 131) = 44.72, and hemianopsia, X2 (4, N = 131) = 39.22; screening for poststroke depression, X2 (4, N = 131) = 101.59, p < 0.001; assessing for psychosocial needs, X2 (4, N = 131) = 74.44, p < 0.001, and encouraging patients to express their feelings, X2 (4, N = 131) = 58.64, p < 0.001; educating patients and families about stroke prevention, X2 (4, N = 131) = 40.51, p < 0.001. Conclusion: As per the results of the study, there is an urgent need for stroke units run by specialized stroke nurses to provide early stroke management and improve survivors' outcomes. The coronaviral pandemic has led to a shift in traditional teaching methods to more innovative approaches, such as high-fidelity patient simulation (HFPS), which can improve students' clinical judgment and decision making for quality patient care. A modified guideline was introduced to enhance students' satisfaction and self-confidence in learning through HFPS. The study involved 189 baccalaureate nursing students, with 92 in the intervention group and 97 in the control group. The intervention group received the modified HFPS guideline, while the control group received standard treatment with basic instruction. After the HFPS debriefing session, students provided narrative feedback on their learning experiences. The quantitative results showed that students in the intervention group reported a significant improvement in satisfaction and self-confidence in learning compared to the control group. The modified HFPS guideline provided clear guidance for students to learn and apply knowledge and skills more effectively, leading to increased engagement during interactive simulation sessions. The results suggest that the HFPS guideline should be added to the curriculum to enhance students' satisfaction and self-confidence in learning, even for junior students. This study aimed to determine the degree of alarm fatigue and mental workload of ICU nurses, and to clarify the relationship between these two variables. A cross-sectional, descriptive research design was used. Data were collected from 90 nurses working in four ICUs in Seoul, Republic of Korea, using a questionnaire determining their degree of alarm fatigue and mental workload. Data were collected from 6 March to 26 April 2021 and were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The average alarm-fatigue score was 28.59 out of 44. The item with the highest score was "I often hear a certain amount of noise in the ward", with a score of 3.59 out of 4. The average of the mental workload scores was 75.21 out of 100. The highest mental workload item was effort, which scored 78.72 out of 100. No significant correlation was found between alarm fatigue and mental workload. Although nurses were consistently exposed to alarm fatigue, this was not directly related to their mental workloads, perhaps owing to their professional consciousness as they strived to accomplish tasks despite alarm fatigue. Introduction: Media health literacy emerges as a response to the vast array of informational disorders prevalent in media communications. Given the absence of a measurement tool for this type of literacy in Spanish-speaking communities, the aim of the present study is to conduct a cross-cultural adaptation of the Media Health Literacy (MeHLit) questionnaire into Spanish and to analyze its psychometric properties in a sample of nursing students., Methods: The Spanish version of the MeHLit questionnaire (MeHLit-SV) was obtained through a process involving translation, back-translation, evaluation of the proposed items by a group of 22 experts, and a pilot study with 80 Spanish nursing students. Content validity was assessed using each item's content validity index (CVI) and Aiken's V (VdA), while internal consistency was evaluated through Cronbach's Alpha., Results: Following the translation and adaptation process, the final version of the MeHLit-SV comprised 21 items organized into five dimensions. The CVI values exceeded 0.82 for all items, and the overall content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.9. Furthermore, the results of Aiken's V surpassed the threshold considered acceptable (0.70). After piloting, the questionnaire demonstrated high internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.936., Conclusion: The findings of this research support the reliability and validity of the MeHLit-SV for use among nursing students to measure their level of media health literacy. Background: Providing quality end-of-life care to individuals with advanced dementia is crucial. To date, little attention has been paid to palliative care knowledge and attitudes toward palliative care for people with advanced dementia in Spain Objectives: To investigate the knowledge of and attitudes toward palliative care for advanced dementia among registered nurses and physicians in Spain., Design and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional survey design was used. This study included a convenience sample of 402 nurses (n = 290) and physicians (n = 112). Two instruments were administered: demographic characteristics and Spanish version of the Questionnaire of Palliative Care for Advanced Dementia (qPAD-SV). Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were used for data analysis., Results: Overall, the nurses and physicians had moderate mean scores for both knowledge of and attitudes regarding palliative care for advanced dementia. Physicians had a higher level of knowledge (p<0.05) compared to nurses. Additionally, physicians and nursing staff who had professional experience/education in geriatrics and those who had received palliative care and hospice training had greater (p<0.01) knowledge of palliative care.
