We investigate low-mass central galaxies with Mstar = $10^{9.5}-10^{10}$ Msun/h, located near massive groups and galaxy clusters using the TNG300 and MDPL2-SAG simulations. We set out to study their evolution, aiming to find hints about the large-scale conformity signal they produce. We also use a control sample of low-mass central galaxies located far away from massive structures. For both samples, we find a sub-population of galaxies that were accreted by another halo in the past but are now considered central galaxies; we refer to these objects as former satellites. The fraction of former satellites is higher for quenched central galaxies near massive systems: 45% in TNG300 and 17% in MDPL2-SAG. Our results in TNG300 show that former satellites were typically hosted by massive dark matter halos (M200 $\geq 10^{13}$ Msun/h) at z$\sim$0.3, followed by a drop in halo mass at lower redshifts. In addition, we find a strong drop in the total gas mass at z$\leq$1 for quenched central galaxies near galaxy groups and clusters produced by these former satellites as well. By removing former satellites, the evolution of quenched central galaxies is fairly similar to those of the quenched control galaxies, showing small differences at low-z. For MDPL2-SAG, former satellites were hosted by less massive halos, with a mean halo mass around $10^{11}$ Msun/h, and the evolution remains equal before and after removing former satellites. We also measure the two-halo conformity, i.e., the correlation in the specific SFR between low-mass central galaxies and their neighbors at Mpc scales, and how former satellites contribute to the signal at z=0, 0.3, and 1. The conformity signal decreases from z=0 to z=1 in MDPL2-SAG but it increases in TNG300. However, after removing former satellites in TNG300, the signal is strongly reduced but almost does not change at z$\leq$0.3, and it disappears at z=1 (abridged)., Comment: 16 pages, 13 figures, submitted to A&A

We present a deep search for and analysis of X-ray sources in a sample of dwarf galaxies (M$_{r}$ < -15.5 mag) located within twelve galaxy clusters from the Kapteyn IAC WEAVE INT Cluster Survey (KIWICS) of photometric observations in the $\textit{r}$ and $\textit{g}$ using the Wide Field Camera (WFC) at the 2.5-m Isaac Newton telescope (INT). We first investigated the optical data, identified 2720 dwarf galaxies in all fields and determined their characteristics; namely, their colors, effective radii, and stellar masses. We then searched the $\textit{Chandra}$ data archive for X-ray counterparts of optically detected dwarf galaxies. We found a total of 20 X-ray emitting dwarf galaxies, with X-ray flux ranging from 1.7$\times10^{-15}$ to 4.1$\times10^{-14}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ and X-ray luminosities varying from 2$\times10^{39}$ to 5.4$\times10^{41}$ erg s$^{-1}$. Our results indicate that the X-ray luminosity of the sources in our sample is larger than the Eddington luminosity limit for a typical neutron star, even at the lowest observed levels. This leads us to conclude that the sources emitting X-rays in our sample are likely black holes. Additionally, we have employed a scaling relation between black hole and stellar mass to estimate the masses of the black holes in our sample, and have determined a range of black hole masses from 4.6$\times10^{4}$ to 1.5$\times10^{6}$ M$_\odot$. Finally, we find a trend between X-ray to optical flux ratio and X-ray flux. We analyse a sample of twelve galaxy clusters, from the Kapteyn IAC WEAVE INT Cluster Survey (KIWICS) looking for dwarf galaxy candidates. By using photometric data in the $r$ and $g$ bands from the Wide Field Camera (WFC) at the 2.5-m Isaac Newton telescope (INT), we select a sample of bright dwarf galaxies (M$_r$ $\leq$ -15.5 mag) in each cluster and analyse their spatial distribution, stellar colour, and as well as their S\'ersic index and effective radius. We quantify the dwarf fraction inside the $R_{200}$ radius of each cluster, which ranges from $\sim$ 0.7 to $\sim$ 0.9. Additionally, when comparing the fraction in the inner region with the outermost region of the clusters, we find that the fraction of dwarfs tends to increase going to the outer regions. We also study the clustercentric distance distribution of dwarf and giant galaxies (M$_r$ $<$ -19.0 mag), and in half of the clusters of our sample, the dwarfs are distributed in a statistically different way as the giants, with the giant galaxies being closer to the cluster centre. We analyse the stellar colour of the dwarf candidates and quantify the fraction of blue dwarfs inside the $R_{200}$ radius, which is found to be less than $\sim$ 0.4, but increases with distance from the cluster centre. Regarding the structural parameters, the S\'ersic index for the dwarfs we visually classify as early type dwarfs tends to be higher in the inner region of the cluster. The disruption of substructure in galaxy clusters likely plays an important role in shaping the cluster population as a significant fraction of cluster galaxies today have spent time in a previous host system, and thus may have been pre-processed. Once inside the cluster, group galaxies face the combined environmental effects from group and cluster - so called 'post-processing'. We investigate these concepts, by tracking the evolution of satellites and their hosts after entering the cluster and find that tidal forces during their first pericentric passage are very efficient at breaking up groups, preferentially removing satellites at larger distances from their hosts. 92.2% of satellites whose host has passed pericentre will leave their host by $z=0$, typically no later than half a Gyr after pericentric passage. We find satellites leave with high velocities, and quickly separate to large distances from their hosts, making their identification within the cluster population challenging. Those few satellites ($\sim$7.8%) that remain bound to their hosts after a pericentric passage are typically found close to their host centres. This implies that substructure seen in clusters today is very likely on first infall into the cluster, and yet to pass pericentre. This is even more likely if the substructure is extended, with satellites beyond R$_{200}$ of their host. We find the cluster dominates the tidal mass loss and destruction of satellites, and is responsible for rapidly halting the accretion of new satellites onto hosts once they reach 0.6-0.8 R$_{200}$ radii from the cluster., Comment: 14 pages, 14 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS on 04.10.19
