ObjectiveWhile hypertension is a well-recognized risk factor for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the specific roles of various common blood pressure measurements [diastolic blood pressure (DBP), systolic blood pressure (SBP), pulse pressure (PP), mean arterial pressure (MAP)] in detecting NAFLD and evaluating the associated risk in adults remain unclear.MethodsA retrospective analysis was conducted on 14,251 adult participants undergoing health screenings in the NAfld in the Gifu Area, Longitudinal Analysis project (NAGALA). Following the Z-transformation of the independent variables, we evaluated the relationships between the four blood pressure indices and NAFLD through multivariable logistic regression models. This analysis documented the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for each standard deviation (SD) increase. Additionally, the effectiveness of these indices in identifying NAFLD was comparatively analyzed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves.ResultsAfter adequately adjusting for confounders, all blood pressure indices except PP showed a positive correlation with NAFLD. For each SD increment, MAP had the strongest association with NAFLD compared to SBP and DBP. This finding was confirmed in populations without exercise habits, under 60 years of age, with normal blood pressure, and in non-obese groups. Furthermore, based on ROC analysis, MAP was found to have the highest accuracy in identifying NAFLD compared to the other three blood pressure indices.ConclusionAmong the four blood pressure indices evaluated, MAP demonstrates the greatest efficacy in identifying NAFLD and assessing its associated risk. These findings underscore the potential of MAP as the most promising blood pressure index for screening NAFLD.

Abstract Various exciton species in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), such as neutral excitons, trions (charged excitons), dark excitons, and biexcitons, have been individually discovered with distinct light-matter interactions. In terms of valley-spin locked band structures and electron-hole configurations, these exciton species demonstrate flexible control of emission light with degrees of freedom (DOFs) such as intensity, polarization, frequency, and dynamics. However, it remains elusive to fully manipulate different exciton species on demand for practical photonic applications. Here, we investigate the contrasting light-matter interactions to control multiple DOFs of emission light in a hybrid monolayer WSe2-Ag nanowire (NW) structure by taking advantage of various exciton species. These excitons, including trions, dark excitons, and biexcitons, are found to couple independently with propagating surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) of Ag NW in quite different ways, thanks to the orientations of transition dipoles. Consistent with the simulations, the dark excitons and dark trions show extremely high coupling efficiency with SPPs, while the trions demonstrate directional chiral-coupling features. This study presents a crucial step towards the ultimate goal of exploiting the comprehensive spectrum of TMD excitons for optical information processing and quantum optics.

Timely and accurately detecting personal protective equipment (PPE) usage among workers is essential for substation safety management. However, traditional algorithms encounter difficulties in substations due to issues such as varying target scales, intricate backgrounds, and many model parameters. Therefore, this paper proposes MEAG-YOLO, an enhanced PPE detection model for substations built upon YOLOv8n. First, the model incorporates the Multi-Scale Channel Attention (MSCA) module to improve feature extraction. Second, it newly designs the EC2f structure with one-dimensional convolution to enhance feature fusion efficiency. Additionally, the study optimizes the Path Aggregation Network (PANet) structure to improve feature learning and the fusion of multi-scale targets. Finally, the GhostConv module is integrated to optimize convolution operations and reduce computational complexity. The experimental results show that MEAG-YOLO achieves a 2.4% increase in precision compared to YOLOv8n, with a 7.3% reduction in FLOPs. These findings suggest that MEAG-YOLO is effective in identifying PPE in complex substation scenarios, contributing to the development of smart grid systems.

ObjectiveThe newly proposed Metabolic Visceral Fat Score (METS-VF) is considered a more effective measure for visceral adipose tissue (VAT) than other obesity indicators. This study aimed to reveal the association between METS-VF and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and its variations across age groups within both sexes.MethodsData from 14,251 medical examiners in the NAGALA project were employed in this study. 3D fitted surface plots were constructed based on multivariate logistic regression models to visualize the isolated and combined effects of aging and METS-VF on NAFLD. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was conducted to compare the diagnostic performance of METS-VF with other VAT surrogate markers in predicting NAFLD.ResultsThe results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that each unit increase in METS-VF was independently associated with a 333% and 312% increase in the odds of NAFLD in males and females, respectively. Additionally, the 3D fitted surface plot showed that age significantly influenced the association between METS-VF and the odds of NAFLD in both sexes, as follows: (i) In males, when METS-VF was less than 6.2, the METS-VF-related odds of NAFLD increased gradually with age in the 20-45 age group, reached a plateau in the 45-65 age group, and then decreased in the group above 65 years old; however, when male METS-VF exceeded 6.2, aging and METS-VF combined to further increase the odds of NAFLD in all age groups, particularly in the 45-65 age group. (ii) In females, aging seemed to reduce METS-VF-related odds of NAFLD in the 18-40 age group, but significantly increased it in the 40-60 age group, particularly for those with higher METS-VF levels. Further ROC analysis revealed that compared to other VAT surrogate markers, METS-VF showed the highest diagnostic accuracy for NAFLD in females, especially in those under 45 years of age [area under the curve (AUC) = 0.9256].ConclusionsThis study firstly revealed a significant positive correlation between METS-VF and the odds of NAFLD, with METS-VF surpassing other VAT surrogate markers in NAFLD diagnosis. Moreover, age significantly influenced the METS-VF-related odds of NAFLD and METS-VF’s diagnostic efficacy for NAFLD in both sexes.

Abstract Background Body mass index (BMI) and lipid parameters are the most commonly used anthropometric parameters and biomarkers for assessing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) risk. This study aimed to assess and quantify the mediating role of traditional and non-traditional lipid parameters on the association between BMI and NAFLD. Method Using data from 14,251 subjects from the NAGALA (NAfld in the Gifu Area, Longitudinal Analysis) study, mediation analyses were performed to explore the roles of traditional [total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)] and non-traditional [non-HDL-C, remnant cholesterol (RC), TC/HDL-C ratio, LDL-C/HDL-C ratio, TG/HDL-C ratio, non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio, and RC/HDL-C ratio] lipid parameters in the association of BMI with NAFLD and quantify the mediation effect of these lipid parameters on the association of BMI with NAFLD using the percentage of mediation. Abstract Background A cross-sectional association between the combination indicator of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and fatty liver has been described in several recent studies, and this study aims to further evaluate the longitudinal relationship between the ratio of GGT to HDL-C (GGT/HDL-C ratio) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods This cohort study included 12,126 individuals without NAFLD at baseline, followed prospectively for 5 years, and the endpoint of interest was new-onset NAFLD. The relationship of the GGT/HDL-C ratio with new-onset NAFLD and the shape of the association was assessed by Cox regression models and restricted cubic spline (RCS) regression, respectively. Time-dependent receiver operator characteristics (ROC) curves were constructed to evaluate the predictive value of GGT, HDL-C, GGT/HDL-C ratio and BMI for the occurrence of NAFLD at different time points in the future. Results The prevalence of NAFLD was 72.46/1000 person-years during the 5-year follow-up period. Results of multivariate Cox regression analysis showed a positive association of the GGT/HDL-C ratio with new-onset NAFLD after adequate adjustment of the related confounding factors, and the degree of correlation was slightly higher than that of GGT, and further subgroup analysis found that this association was more significant in the population with elevated systolic blood pressure (SBP). In addition, we also found a nonlinear relationship of the GGT/HDL-C ratio with the risk of new-onset NAFLD using the RCS regression, where the saturation threshold was about 31.79 U/mmol. Time-dependent ROC analysis results showed that the GGT/HDL-C ratio was increasingly valuable in predicting NAFLD over time, and was better than HDL-C in predicting NAFLD in the early stage (1–3 years), but was not superior to BMI and GGT. Conclusions In this large longitudinal cohort study based on a Chinese population, our results supported that the GGT/HDL-C ratio was positively and nonlinearly associated with the risk of new-onset NAFLD in a non-obese population. In the assessment of future NAFLD risk, the GGT/HDL-C ratio was slightly better than GGT alone; However, the GGT/HDL-C ratio did not appear to have a significant advantage over GGT and BMI alone in predicting NAFLD.

Abstract Background Traditional and non-traditional (TNNT) lipid indicators are known to be closely related to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This study’s objective was to compare the degree of associations and diagnostic values of TNNT lipid indicators with NAFLD. Methods Participants were 14,251 Japanese adults who undergoing health checkups, and we measured and calculated 11 lipid indicators, including traditional lipid indicators such as high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglyceride (TG), as well as non-traditional lipid indicators such as TC/HDL-C ratio, LDL-C/HDL-C ratio, TG/HDL-C ratio, non-HDL-C, remnant cholesterol (RC), RC/HDL-C ratio and non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio. The associations between these lipid indicators and NAFLD were assessed using multivariate logistic regression, and the performance of these lipid indicators in identifying NAFLD was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results After rigorous adjustment for potential confounders, multivariate logistic regression showed that all TNNT lipid indicators were independently associated with NAFLD, among which the RC/HDL-C ratio and RC had the strongest association with NAFLD. ROC analysis showed that non-traditional lipid indicators were superior to traditional lipid indicators in identifying NAFLD, especially in young adults and females. It is worth mentioning that the RC/HDL-C ratio was the best lipid indicator for identifying NAFLD with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.82 and an optimal cut-off value of 0.43; in addition, TG/HDL-C ratio also had a high recognition performance for NAFLD. Conclusion Overall, in the Japanese population, non-traditional lipid indicators had a higher diagnostic value for NAFLD compared to traditional lipid indicators, and lipid indicators alone had a lower diagnostic value for NAFLD than the ratio of two lipid indicators, with RC/HDL-C and TG/HDL-C being the best lipid indicators for identifying NAFLD.

Abstract Background Body mass index (BMI) and A Body Shape Index (ABSI) are current independent risk factors for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The aim of this study was to explore the value of combining these two most common obesity indexes in identifying NAFLD. Methods The subjects in this study were 14,251 individuals from the NAfld in the Gifu Area, Longitudinal Analysis (NAGALA) cohort who underwent routine health examination. We integrated BMI with WC and with ABSI to construct 6 combined obesity indicators—obesity phenotypes, the combined anthropometric risk index (ARI) for BMI and ABSI, optimal proportional combination OBMI+WC and OBMI+ABSI, and multiplicative combination BMI*WC and BMI*ABSI. Several multivariable logistic regression models were established to evaluate the relationship between BMI, WC, ABSI, and the above six combined indicators and NAFLD; receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were drawn to compare the ability of each obesity indicator to identify NAFLD. Results A total of 2,507 (17.59%) subjects were diagnosed with NAFLD. BMI, WC, ABSI, and all other combined obesity indicators were significantly and positively associated with NAFLD in the current study, with BMI*WC having the strongest correlation with NAFLD in female subjects (OR per SD increase: 3.13) and BMI*ABSI having the strongest correlation in male subjects (OR per SD increase: 2.97). ROC analysis showed that ARI and OBMI+ABSI had the best diagnostic performance in both sexes, followed by BMI*WC (area under the curve: female 0.8912; male 0.8270). After further age stratification, it was found that ARI and multiplicative indicators (BMI*WC, BMI*ABSI) and optimal proportional combination indicators (OBMI+WC, OBMI+ABSI) significantly improved the NAFLD risk identification ability of the basic anthropometric parameters in middle-aged females and young and middle-aged males. Conclusion In the general population, BMI combined with ABSI best identified obesity-related NAFLD risk and was significantly better than BMI or WC, or ABSI. We find that ARI and the multiplicative combined indicators BMI*WC and BMI*ABSI further improved risk prediction and may be proposed for possible use in clinical practice.

Abstract Sleep deprivation (SD) can lead to cognitive impairment caused by neuroinflammation. MiR-181c-5p/HMGB1 axis plays a part in anti-inflammation effects. However, the mechanism that miR-181c-5p facilitates learning and memory in SD mice remains unclear. So we investigated the role of miR-181c-5p in learning and memory impairment induced by SD. We overexpressed miR-181c-5p in the mice hippocampus by injecting lentivirus vector-miR-181c-5p (LV-miR-181c-5p) particles. Mice were divided into four groups: control (Ctrl), SD, SD + miR-181c-5p and SD + vector. We found that mice in the third group showed ameliorated learning and memory compared with the fourth group. The content of ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule 1 (IBA-1) in the third group was decreased compared with the fourth group. Moreover, the expression levels of HMGB1, TLR4 and p-NF-κB in the hippocampus of overexpressed miR-181c-5p mice were reduced. In total, miR-181c-5p ameliorated learning and memory in SD mice via the HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB pathway.

The tuberculosis (TB) burden remains a significant global public health concern, especially in less developed countries. While pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) is the most common form of the disease, extrapulmonary tuberculosis, particularly intestinal TB (ITB), which is mostly secondary to PTB, is also a significant issue. With the development of sequencing technologies, recent studies have investigated the potential role of the gut microbiome in TB development. In this review, we summarized studies investigating the gut microbiome in both PTB and ITB patients (secondary to PTB) compared with healthy controls. Both PTB and ITB patients show reduced gut microbiome diversity characterized by reduced Firmicutes and elevated opportunistic pathogens colonization; Bacteroides and Prevotella were reported with opposite alteration in PTB and ITB patients. The alteration reported in TB patients may lead to a disequilibrium in metabolites such as short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production, which may recast the lung microbiome and immunity via the “gut-lung axis”. These findings may also shed light on the colonization of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the gastrointestinal tract and the development of ITB in PTB patients. The findings highlight the crucial role of the gut microbiome in TB, particularly in ITB development, and suggest that probiotics and postbiotics might be useful supplements in shaping a balanced gut microbiome during TB treatment.

Abstract Background Hypertriglyceridemic-waist (HTGW) phenotype has been proposed as a practical tool for screening the risk of cardiovascular diseases and glycemic metabolic disease. This study sought to investigate the relationship between HTGW phenotype and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods A total of 14,251 subjects who took part in health screening were enrolled in the study and NAFLD was diagnosed by abdominal ultrasound. According to triglyceride (TG) and waist circumference, the study population was divided into four phenotypes, in which HTGW phenotype was defined as TG ≥ 1.7 mmol/L and male waist circumference ≥ 90 cm or female waist circumference ≥ 80 cm. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between HTGW phenotype and NAFLD. Results In the current study, 2.43% of the subjects had HTGW phenotype, while the prevalence of NAFLD in subjects with HTGW phenotype was 77.81%. After full adjustment for covariates, compared with people with normal waist circumference and TG levels, the risk of NAFLD in people with normal TG levels but enlarged waist circumference increased by 39% [OR:1.39, 95%CI: 1.15, 1.68], in people with normal waist circumference but elevated TG levels increased by 96% [OR:1.96, 95%CI: 1.65, 2.33], and in subjects with HTGW phenotype increased by 160% [OR:2.60, 95%CI: 1.88, 3.58]. Additionally, further analysis suggested that there were significant interactions between age, height, BMI and NAFLD risk associated with TGW phenotypes. Receiver operating characteristic curves analysis suggested that the combination of TG and waist circumference further improved the diagnostic value for NAFLD. Conclusions HTGW phenotype is associated with NAFLD risk in the general population, which may be a novel and accessible indicator for NAFLD screening.

Abstract Background Remnant cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (RC/HDL-C) ratio has been shown to be a good predictor of metabolic disease risk, but no studies have further investigated the role of RC/HDL-C ratio in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. Methods The participants were 14,251 adults who underwent a physical examination, all of whom underwent abdominal ultrasonography to determine whether they had NAFLD. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and multivariate logistic regression models were used to assess the association between the RC/HDL-C ratio and the risk of NAFLD. Results Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that after fully adjusting the confounding factors, the higher RC/HDL-C ratio was independently positively correlated with the risk of NAFLD. Interaction tests suggested that the effect of RC/HDL-C ratio on NAFLD was significantly affected by sex. Additionally, receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of RC/HDL-C ratio for identifying NAFLD was 0.82, which was significantly higher than that of other conventional lipid parameters. Conclusions This study indicates for the first time that the higher RC/HDL-C ratio in the general population may be closely related to the increased risk of NAFLD.

Abstract Background Emerging evidence suggests that cardiometabolic index (CMI) is closely related to diabetes, hypertension, stroke, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease, which implies that CMI has the value as an indicator of metabolic diseases. However, data on the relationships between CMI and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) risks have not been reported. This study is designed to examine the association between CMI and NAFLD in the general population. Methods The current study included 14,251 subjects whose CMI was the product of triglyceride/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and waist-to-height ratio. Linear regression was used to analyze the correlation between baseline information and CMI, logistic regression was used to study the relationship between CMI and NAFLD, and subgroup analysis was used to explore potential high-risk groups. Developing versatile and robust surfaces that mimic the skins of living beings to regulate air/liquid/solid matter is critical for many bioinspired applications. Despite notable achievements, such as in the case of developing robust superhydrophobic surfaces, it remains elusive to realize simultaneously topology-specific superwettability and multipronged durability owing to their inherent tradeoff and the lack of a scalable fabrication method. Here, we present a largely unexplored strategy of preparing an all-perfluoropolymer (Teflon), nonlinear stability-assisted monolithic surface for efficient regulating matters. The key to achieving topology-specific superwettability and multilevel durability is the geometric-material mechanics design coupling superwettability stability and mechanical strength. The versatility of the surface is evidenced by its manufacturing feasibility, multiple-use modes (coating, membrane, and adhesive tape), long-term air trapping in 9-m-deep water, low-fouling droplet transportation, and self-cleaning of nanodirt. We also demonstrate its multilevel durability, including strong substrate adhesion, mechanical robustness, and chemical stability, all of which are needed for real-world applications.

Abstract Background The albumin-to-alkaline phosphatase ratio (AAPR) is a newly developed index of liver function, but its association in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has not been established. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the AAPR and NAFLD in a non-obese Chinese population. Methods The study included 10,749 non-obese subjects without NAFLD at baseline and divided them into quintiles according to the AAPR. A Cox multiple regression model was used to examine the association between the AAPR and its quintiles and the incidence of NAFLD. Results The average age of the study population was 43.65 ± 15.15 years old. During the 5-year follow-up, 1860 non-obese subjects had NAFLD events. In the Cox multiple regression model, after adjusting the model according to important risk factors, the AAPR and NAFLD risk were independently correlated, and with a gradual increase in the AAPR, the NAFLD risk decreased gradually (HR: 0.61, 95% CI: 0.47, 0.81; P-trend

Abstract Background The waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) has been recognised as a powerful indicator to evaluate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in recent years, but few related studies are available. Thus, clarifying the association between the WHtR and NAFLD may be beneficial to the prevention and treatment of NAFLD. Methods The cross-sectional study population was from a large-scale health examination programme called ‘human dock’ in Japan. In this study, 14,125 participants in this health examination programme were included. To understand the association between the WHtR and NAFLD more intuitively, we grouped the WHtR values into quintiles and used a multivariable logistic regression model to assess WHtR and its quintile with NAFLD risk. Moreover, we used the generalised additive model to model the association between WHtR and NAFLD to explore their non-linear relationship. Results The prevalence of NAFLD among participants in this study was 17.59%, with an average age of 43.53 ± 8.89 years. After adjusting for all non-collinear covariables, we observed a 66% increase in the NAFLD risk per SD increase in WHtR. Furthermore, in the quintile groups of WHtR, the participants in quintile 2, quintile 3, quintile 4, and quintile 5 had 3.62-fold, 5.98-fold, 9.55-fold, and 11.08-fold increased risks of NAFLD, respectively, compared with those in quintile 1 (P trend

Abstract Background Low-density lipoprotein to high density lipoprotein (LDL/HDL) cholesterol ratio has been reported to predict the risk of many metabolic diseases. However, the association between the LDL/HDL cholesterol ratio and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has not been established. Methods A longitudinal cohort design was adopted in this study; 9767 non-obese subjects without NAFLD were included and analyzed. The subjects were grouped according to the quintile of LDL/HDL cholesterol ratio. The cumulative incidence of NAFLD and the independent effect of the LDL/HDL cholesterol ratio on NAFLD during 5 years of follow-up were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional-hazards regression model. Results During the 5-year follow-up period, 841 subjects were diagnosed with new-onset NAFLD, and the 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-year cumulative incidence rates of NAFLD were 1.16, 4.65, 8.33, 12.43, and 25.14%, respectively. BackgroundChronic autoimmune gastritis (CAG) refers to chronic atrophic gastritis due to autoimmunity. Loss of gastric glands in CAG results in hypergastrinemia and achlorhydria leading to Vitamin B12 deficiency and hyperplasia of G cells and enterochromaffin-like (ECL) cells. Vitamin B12 deficiency could cause pernicious anemia and subacute combined degeneration, while G cells and ECL cells hyperplasia might develop gastric neuroendocrine tumor (G-NET).Case PresentationA 35-year-old Chinese female presented with multi-focal type-1 Grade 2 (G2) NETs with a 14-year history of pernicious anemia and subacute combined degeneration.ConclusionHere, we report a rare case of a Chinese patient presenting G-NET combined with pernicious anemia and subacute combined degeneration, which are secondary to chronic autoimmune gastritis. This case also illustrates the importance of routine gastroscopy in patients with Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Polycystic liver disease (PLD) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder including two genetically and clinically distinct forms: autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and isolated polycystic liver disease (PCLD). The main manifestation of ADPKD is kidney cysts, while PCLD has predominantly liver presentations with mild or absent kidney cysts. Over the past decade, PRKCSH, SEC63, ALG8, and LRP5 have been candidate genes of PCLD. Recently, more candidate genes such as GANAB, SEC61B, and ALR9 were also reported in PCLD patients. This review focused on all candidate genes of PCLD, including the newly established novel candidate genes. In addition, we also discussed some other genes which might also contribute to the disease.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging as vital biomarkers since their abnormal expression is associated with various disease types including cancer. Therefore, it is essential to develop a sensitive and specific platform to monitor the dynamic expression of miRNAs for early clinical diagnosis and treatment. In this study, we designed a functionalized polydopamine (PDA)-based theranostic nanoprobe for efficient detection of miRNA-21 and in vivo synergistic cancer therapy. PDA was modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and the obtained PDA-PEG nanoparticles showed good stability in different solutions. PDA-PEG nanoparticles were loaded with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-labeled hairpin DNA (hpDNA) and an anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). In the absence of miRNA-21, PDA effectively quenched the fluorescence of FITC-labeled hpDNA. The presence of miRNA-21 specifically recognized hpDNA and induced the dissociation of hpDNA from PDA-PEG and subsequently recovered the fluorescence signals. Upon cellular uptake of these nanoprobes, a dose-dependent fluorescence activation and synergetic cytotoxic effect were observed due to the release of DOX and inhibition of miRNA-21 function. Furthermore, PDA-PEG-DOX-hpDNA nanoparticles can afford long-term monitoring of miRNA-21 and combined therapeutic efficacy in the nude mice bearing 4T1 tumors. Our results demonstrate the capability of PDA-PEG-DOX-hpDNA as a theranostic nanoprobe for continuously tracking of miRNAs and synergetic cancer therapy.

Diagnostic blood cell counting is of limited use in monitoring a minimal number of leukaemia cells, warranting further research to develop more sensitive and reliable techniques to identify leukaemia cells in circulation. In this work, a hemin–graphene nanocomposite-based aptasensor was developed for ultrasensitive colorimetric detection of leukaemia cells (CEM) using magnetic enrichment. Hemin-conjugated graphene oxide nanocomposites (HGNs) were prepared by hydrazine reduction using graphene oxide nanosheets and hemins. Hence, the prepared HGNs become able to absorb single-stranded DNA and acquire peroxidase-like activity. The aptamer sgc8c, which recognizes a specific target on leukaemia cells, was absorbed onto HGNs to capture the target CEM cancer cells. The captured target cells that associated with the HGNs were then concentrated and separated by magnetic beads (MBs) coated with sgc8c aptamers, forming a HGN–cell–MB sandwich structure. These sandwich structures can be quantified via an oxidation reaction catalysed by HGNs. By utilizing dual signal amplification effects generated by magnetic enrichment and the improved peroxidase activity of HGNs, the biosensor allowed for highly sensitive detection of 10 to 105 CEM cells with an ultra-low limit of detection (LOD) of 10 cells under optimal conditions. It is expected that the proposed aptasensor can be further employed in monitoring the minimal residual disease during the treatment of leukaemia.

Sea clutter simulation is a well-known research endeavour in radar detector analysis and design, and many approaches to it have been proposed in recent years, among which zero memory non-linear (ZMNL) and spherically invariant random process (SIRP) are the most two widely used methods for compound Gaussian distribution. However, the shape parameter of the compound Gaussian clutter model cannot be a non-integer nor non-semi-integer in the ZMNL method, and the computational complexity of the SIRP method is very high because of the complex non-linear operation. Although some improved methods have been proposed to solve the problem, the fitting degree of these methods is not high because of the introduction of Beta distribution. To overcome these disadvantages, a novel Gamma distributed random variable (RV) generation method for clutter simulation is proposed in this paper. In our method, Gamma RV with non-integral or non-semi-integral shape parameters is generated directly by multiplying an integral-shape-parameter Gamma RV with a Beta RV whose parameters are larger than 0.5, thus avoiding the deviation of simulation of Beta RV. A large number of simulation experimental results show that the proposed method not only can be used in the clutter simulation with a non-integer or non-semi-integer shape parameter value, but also has higher fitting degree than the existing methods.

This study investigates the effects of rt-PA thrombolytic therapy at varying times on neurological function and complications in acute cerebral infarction (ACI) patients. A total of 120 ACI patients admitted between August 2019 and July 2021 were divided into three groups based on the timing of rt-PA treatment: <3h (40 patients), 3–4.5h (55 patients), and >4.5h (25 patients). All received standard treatment and rt-PA IV thrombolysis. Key comparisons included cerebral oxygen metabolism, oxidative stress, neural markers, hemodynamics, coagulation function, NIHSS scores, ADL, clinical efficacy, and complications. Results showed that 48 hours post-treatment, SjvO2 levels were significantly higher in the <3h and 3-4.5h groups compared to the >4.5h group. SOD levels were also higher in the earlier groups, while MDA levels were lower. Three months after treatment, NIHSS scores were significantly lower and ADL scores higher in the <3h and 3-4.5h groups, with lower complication rates. Efficacy was similar within 3 hours and 3–4.5 hours, but complications increased significantly after 4.5 hours. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In traditional short-term load dispatching methods for distributed power systems, complex data processing, and low recognition accuracy hinder effective system optimization. To address this issue, an intelligent short-term load dispatching method for distributed power systems based on deep learning was proposed, aiming to improve voltage quality and reduce network losses. The proposed method first collected historical load data from the system, including active power and reactive power, and utilized a long short-term memory neural network (LSTM) for short-term load forecasting. In the forecasting process, the input gate, output gate, and forget gate operations were employed to accurately handle load variations. Based on the forecasting results, a short-term load dispatching model was constructed to minimize network losses, voltage deviations, and power abandonment rates, while incorporating constraints such as power flow, node voltage, and load regulation coefficients. The bee colony Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) algorithm was used to achieve intelligent load allocation in the distributed power system. Experimental results show that, the proposed method effectively controls voltage fluctuations within ±0.4 p.u. while reducing network losses to below 0.14 MW, significantly improving the overall system performance. The conclusion provides scientific technical supports for the optimization and dispatching of distributed power systems and validates the applicability and effectiveness of intelligent methods in complex power system scenarios. Here, based on thin film integrated passive device (TF‐IPD) technology, compact ultra‐wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) and dual‐band bandpass filter (DBBPF) with equal inductance configuration are proposed. The configuration of equal inductance in a circuit contributes to reducing variables, simplifying the physical structure, and shortening the debugging time in the TF‐IPD design process. Despite all the inductors being equal in value, a wide passband can still be achieved. The measured results show that the centre frequency of UBW BPF is 11.43 GHz, and the 3‐dB fractional bandwidth (FBW) is 133% (3.87–18.99 GHz). And the 3‐dB FBWs of DBBPF centred at 6.5 GHz and 16.2 GHz are 92% (3.51–9.49 GHz) and 35% (13.33–18.98 GHz), respectively. The stopband of UBW BPF and DBBPF can be extended to 47.7 GHz and 44.8 GHz in sizes of 321 µm × 856 µm and 235 µm × 846 µm, respectively (excluding measuring pads). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
