Chunghyuldan (CHD), a combinatorial drug that has antihyperlipidemic and anti-inflammatory activities, has been shown to improve arterial stiffness and inhibit stroke recurrence in clinical study. To understand the molecular basis of CHD's clinical effects, we explored its effect on cell proliferation and expression of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and vascular cell adhesion molecule (VCAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Cell number counting and [3H]thymidine incorporation assay demonstrated that nontoxic doses of CHD have an inhibitory effect on DNA synthesis and suppress cell cycle progression of HUVECs. CHD treatment led to a marked induction of NO production through up-regulation of NOS mRNA expression in a dose- and time-dependent manner, whereas it suppressed VCAM-1 expression. CHD inhibition of VCAM-1 expression was totally blocked by pretreatment with the NO synthesis inhibitor L-NMMA, whereas pretreatment with the NO donor DETA-NO further decreased VCAM-1 level in CHD-treated HUVECs, indicating that VCAM-1 regulation by CHD is mediated through increased NO synthesis by CHD. In addition, TNF-α-mediated VCAM-1 activation was substantially impeded by CHD treatment. Collectively, our data suggest that anti-inflammatory or anti-hyperlipidemic effects of CHD might be associated with its ability to activate NO production and suppress VCAM-1 expression in human endothelial cells.

The fast changing or the development of technologies induces the possibility to process the information in key moments in different locations. Thus, not only those who are learning need mobile tools for learning, but also the trainers need mobile tools for preparing the classes, for coordinating the educational activities. Using this background, new patterns had been developed based on its main principles, starting with the evolution of technology. Based on these modifications we are going to present a mobile-learning system which we intend to integrate with our E-learning system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Context. In 2003, the Sun and the Earth passed through both the equatorial plane of Jupiter and therefore the orbital planes of its main satellites. Aims. During this period, mutual eclipses and occultations were observed and we present the data collected.Methods. Light curves of mutual eclipses and occultations were recorded by the observers of the international campaign PHEMU03 organized by the Institut de m?canique c?leste, Paris, France. Results. We completed 377?observations of 118?mutual events from 42?sites and the corresponding data are presented in this paper. For each observation, information about the telescope, receptor, site, and observational conditions are provided.Conclusions. This paper gathers all data and indicates a first estimate of its precision. This catalogue of these rare events should constitute an improved basis for accurate astrometric data useful in the development of dynamical models.

"Not even God could do better: Virtue to share with our neighbor was preached, but probably was not practiced as much as He wanted to" (Sermon on the Mount). Students must read a book and student X has only one chapter. He looks around and finds a friend who has a few more chapters. The book is not yet complete, so they have to look for some friends around the block, which may have the remaining pages. They found a bunch of students and although no one has the complete book, they share between them until all students will get a copy of the complete book. The book becomes an internet file that is separated into small pieces. Each of them has at least one part and download and share these parts until they have the full file. Each piece is available for the students to download. When a student file is made using HTTP, all upload cost is placed in the hosting machine. With STorrent, when multiple students are downloading the same paper at the same time, they upload pieces of the paper to each other. This redistributes the cost of upload to downloaders, (where is it often not even metered), thus making hosting a file with a potentially unlimited number of downloaders, affordable.
