Background: While hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in children has declined dramatically in China due to the vaccination strategy for newborns, HBV infection in high-risk adults is receiving an increasing attention. The number of people who use drugs (PWUD) in China is huge, but their status of HBV infection and vaccination is less reported, especially from large samples. The related knowledge can help decision makers develop the further strategy of HBV prevention and control., Methods: A seroepidemiological survey was conducted in all four compulsory isolated detoxification centers (CIDCs) and all eight methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) clinics located in Xi'an, China. All PWUD who were undergoing detoxification or treatment in these settings were included. A questionnaire was designed to obtain the information of HBV vaccination history of participants, and sociodemographic and behavioral data of participants were obtained from the registration records of their respective CIDCs or MMT clinics., Results: A total of 4705 PWUD participated in the survey. Positive rates of HBsAg (current infection) and HBsAg or anti-HBc (current/past infection) were 5.50% and 58.02%, notably higher than those reported for the general adult population in the same province during the same period. As age increased, the anti-HBc positive rate increased with statistically significant trend. The all-negative for HBsAg, anti-HBc, and anti-HBs accounted for 28.82%. Only 18.49% were identified by the questionnaire as having received HBV vaccine. The logistic regression found that compared with identified vaccinated PWUD, those unsure if having been vaccinated and those identified non-vaccinated had a significantly higher HBV current/past infection rate, with an increasing trend., Conclusion: PWUD are a high-risk adult group of HBV infection in China. Of them, more than half have not received HBV vaccine, and a significant portion are susceptible to HBV. Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is one of the most predominant causes of mortality and disability in China. Significant uncertainties in stroke diagnosis and time of onset have resulted in inconsistent evidence on the association between ambient air pollution and the risk of AIS. The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of air pollution on AIS onset based on high time-resolution air pollution data and a stroke-specific registry across the past five years. Hourly concentrations of PM 2.5 , PM 10 , O 3 , SO 2 , CO, NO 2 and nitrous acid (HONO) were monitored from 2017 to 2021, with which a distributed lag non-linear model and conditional logistic regression models coupled with a time-stratified case-crossover design were applied to 106,623 AIS cases recorded in the Shanghai Stroke Service (4S) database during the study period. Results from the conditional logistic regression models indicate that acute exposure to PM 2.5 , PM 10 , SO 2 , NO 2 and HONO was found to be associated with AIS onset, respectively. The corresponding cumulative excessive risks of AIS onset were 0.8 %, 1 %, 2.4 %, 2.1 % and 1.8 % for each interquartile range increase in the respective concentration. The longest lag-effect (up to 13 h) was observed for reactive nitrogen species (RNS), such as NO 2 and HONO, which remained robust in two-pollutant models. Similar important role of RNS in AIS onset were confirmed by the distributed lag non-linear model. Objective: The aim was to predict the effectiveness of using frailty, defined by the frailty index (FI), for predicting recurrent pneumonia and death in patients 50 years and older with vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) during long-term hospitalization., Measurements: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at a teaching hospital in western China and included VCI patients aged ≥50 years undergoing long-term hospitalization. The relevant data were collected from the electronic medical record system. The FI was based on 31 parameters and groups were defined using a cutoff value (0.2) as robust (FI < 0.2) and FRAIL (≥0.2). The definition of recurrent pneumonia was a minimum of two episodes within a year, with the symptoms, signs, and imaging results of pneumonia disappearing completely between episodes, and a minimum interval between episodes of seven days. Death was recorded by the hospital as the result of cardiac and respiratory arrest and survival was defined as the interval between hospital admission and confirmed death. Logistic regression models were used to assess the association between FI and recurrent pneumonia, while associations between FI and death were assessed by Cox proportional hazards models., Results: A total of 252 long-term hospitalized VCI patients ≥50 years old were enrolled, of whom 115 were male (45.6 %). Ninety-seven patients (38.5 %) were defined as FRAIL. The median length of stay for hospitalized patients was 37 months. Overall, 215 patients developed pneumonia during hospitalization, which occurred an average of 14.5 months after admission, while 151 (59.9 %) had recurrent pneumonia, and 155 (61.5 %) died. Of these, 143 died in the hospital and 12 died after discharge. No significant differences were seen in the incidence of recurrent pneumonia between FRAIL and robust long-term hospitalized VCI patients (FRAIL vs. robust: 66.0 % vs. 56.1 %, P = 0.121) while FRAIL patients had a higher mortality rate than robust patients (FRAIL vs. robust: 71.1 % vs. 55.5 %, P = 0.013). After further Cox regression analysis and adjustment for possible confounders found to be significant in the univariate analysis (including age, sex, smoking history, and activities of daily living (ADL) score), FRAIL patients had a higher risk of death than healthy patients (HR = 1.595, 95 % CI: 1.149-2.213). In addition, based on Model 2, confounding variables that were not statistically significant in the univariate analysis but may have had an impact on the results (including marital status, educational level, drinking history, comorbidity and rehabilitation treatment) were incorporated into Model 3 for further correction. Background: Childhood Emotional Abuse (CEA) is a known risk factor for Non Suicidal Self-injury (NSSI), which could have devastating repercussions. This study aimed to establish whether Parent-Child Attachment (PCA) and depressive symptoms mediated the CEA-NSSI relationship, as well as whether school connectedness moderated both the direct and indirect relationships between CEA and NSSI., Methods: Between November and December 2022, 7447 Chinese adolescents in high schools were surveyed through multi-stage cluster random sampling. The participants completed self-reported questionnaires that assessed CEA, PCA, depressive symptoms, school connectedness, and NSSI. Relationships between these variables were examined through moderated mediation analysis using SPSS macro-PROCESS., Results: After controlling for sociodemographic variables, we found that CEA correlated positively with NSSI through two different pathways: the mediating role of depressive symptoms and the chain-mediating role of both PCA and depressive symptoms. Background: The association between obesity and depressive symptoms remains controversial. The Weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) shows advantages in assessing central obesity. This study aimed to investigate the longitudinal relationship between WWI and depressive symptoms., Method: This prospective cohort study utilized data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) spanning 2011-2020. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the 10-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depressive Symptoms Scale (CESD-10) scores. Linear mixed models were used to examine longitudinal associations., Results: A total of 6835 participants over the age of 45 were included. WWI was positively associated with CESD-10 scores (β per 1 SD increase = 0.052SD; 95%CI: 0.021 to 0.083SD) and was linked to a faster increase in CESD-10 scores over time (β = 0.095SD/year; 95%CI: 0.090 to 0.100 SD/year). Conversely, BMI was negatively associated with CESD-10 scores (β per 1 SD increase = -0.067SD; 95%CI: -0.097 to -0.038SD). However, the negative association between BMI and CESD-10 scores weakened over time (β per 1 SD increase = 0.008SD/y; 95%CI: 0.003 to 0.013 SD/y). Nonlinear associations were detected between both WWI and BMI with CESD-10 scores., Limitations: Self-reported depressive symptoms assessments may have introduced information bias. The observational design limits ruling out unobserved confounding factors., Conclusions: Our findings highlight the association between WWI and the long-term progression of depressive symptoms in middle-aged and older adults. Ozone pollution is increasingly recognized as a serious environmental threat that exacerbates dementia risks, including Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Amid rapid industrialization, China faces significant air quality challenges. However, there has been a scarcity of detailed studies assessing the health and economic impacts of ozone pollution on these conditions. This study aims to address this gap by utilizing the BenMap-CE tool and incorporating parameters obtained from systematic reviews of epidemiological studies, official statistics, and weighted averages, to accurately quantify the effects of ozone exposure in China. This research evaluated the health and economic burdens at both national and provincial levels, focusing on the additional impacts attributed to increased ozone levels. The results reveal that in 2023, compared to 2015, ozone pollution contributed to approximately 110,000 new cases (5.6 per 10,000) of AD and 1.6 million new cases (81.7 per 10,000) of MCI, imposing significant economic costs of about US $1200 million for AD and US $18,000 million for MCI, based on 2015 dollar values. Additionally, our projections indicate that reducing the 2023 ozone concentrations to 70 μg/m 3 could significantly curb these conditions, potentially preventing over 210,000 new AD cases (10.7 per 10,000) and 2.9 million (148.1 per 10,000) MCI cases. Such reductions are projected to yield substantial economic benefits, estimated at US $2200 million for AD and US $34,000 million for MCI (2015 dollar values). Background: Public health is greatly affected by heatwaves, especially as a result of climate change. It is unclear whether heatwaves affect injury hospitalization, especially as developing countries facing the impact of climate change., Objectives: To assess the impact of heatwaves on injury-related hospitalization and the economic burden., Methods: The daily hospitalizations and meteorological data from 2014 to 2019 were collected from 23 study sites in 11 meteorological geographic zones in China. We conducted a two-stage time series analysis based on a time-stratified case-crossover design, combined with DLNM to assess the association between heatwaves and daily injury hospitalization, and to further assess the regional and national economic losses resulting from hospitalization by calculating excess hospitalization costs (direct economic losses) and labor losses (indirect economic losses). To determine the vulnerable groups and areas, we also carried out stratified analyses by age, sex, and region., Results: We found that 6.542% (95%CI: 3.939%, 9.008 %) of injury hospitalization were attributable to heatwaves during warm season (May to September) from 2014 to 2019. Approximately 361,447 injury hospitalizations were attributed to heatwaves each year in China, leading to an excess economic loss of 5.173 (95%CI: 3.104, 7.196) billion CNY, of which 3.114 (95%CI: 1.454, 4.720) billion CNY for males and 4.785 (95%CI: 3.203, 6.321) billion CNY for people aged 15-64 years. The attributable fraction (AF) of injury hospitalizations due to heatwaves was the highest in the plateau mountain climate zone, followed by the subtropical monsoon climate zone and the temperate monsoon climate zone., Conclusions: Heatwaves significantly increase the disease and economic burden of injury hospitalizations, and vary across populations and regions. At the end of 2022, a huge tide of SARS-CoV-2 infection mainly Omicron BA.4/5 developed in China. Multiple myeloma (MM) patients suffered cancer deterioration and mortality from COVID-19, yet profound analyses of Omicron variants-induced immunity function are scarce. We presented a longitudinal study in 218 MM patients and 73 healthy controls (HCs), reporting the prognostic factors and dynamic humoral and cellular immune responses. Neutralizing antibody and interferon γ ELISpot assay of SARS-CoV-2 was tested at three time points: 2-4, 8-10, and 14-16 weeks after infections. Our data showed older age, active MM, relapsed/refractory MM (R/RMM), immunotherapy, comorbidity, and non-vaccination were risk factors associated with hospitalization. Severe humoral immunity impairment within 2-4 weeks was especially seen in patients with unvaccinated, older age, immunotherapy, R/RMM and comorbidities, while T-cell response was relatively intact. Although antibodies of Omicron variants reached positive levels in MM patients at 8-10 weeks, half lost effective antibody protection at 14-16 weeks. However, most seronegative patients (76.2% at 2-4 weeks, 83.3% at 8-10 weeks) could develop effective T-cell response. Notably, the inactivated wild-type vaccinated patients exhibited weaker humoral and cellular immunity only at 2-4 weeks, escalating to similar levels as those in HCs later. Our findings indicate impairment of humoral immunity at acute-phase after infection is the major factor correlated with hospitalization. One-month suspension of immune therapy is suggested to prevent serious infection. Background: This paper examines the prevalence, correlates, and developmental consequences of divorce among junior high school students in rural China. Specifically, we investigate the connections between parental divorce and student mental health and academic performance, while also examining whether a student's living arrangement after divorce influences these outcomes., Methods: Data were collected from 17,955 students across 122 rural junior high schools in China on their mental health, characteristics, and academic performance. Mental health was measured using the self-reported Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire., Results: About 8.35 % of the students had divorced parents, with increased risk observed for students who were only children, had migrant mothers, or had higher educated mothers (ORs = 4.35, 29.94, and 1.78, respectively; Bonferroni-adjusted p < 0.05). Students with divorced parents exhibited a higher likelihood of internalizing (0.032), externalizing (0.052) abnormality (Bonferroni-adjusted p < 0.001) and scored 0.203 SD lower on the math test (Bonferroni-adjusted p < 0.001). Living arrangements post-divorce, either with a mother or a father, equally negatively impacted student mental health and academic performance, with a mitigating effect observed when grandparental childcare was provided., Limitations: Our study faced limitations in assessing the influence of grandparental childcare on coping with parental divorce due to challenges in gauging the extent of such support for students residing with a parent after divorce. This study did not empirically find differences by ethnicity; further in-depth case study is needed to better illuminate the findings., Conclusions: Parental divorce among young students in rural China is associated with adverse developmental outcomes. Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a serious and disabling condition characterized by abnormal mood changes. Clinical guidelines for depression treatment recommend antidepressant medications, with benzodiazepines acting as short-term synergists. However, little is currently known about the prevalence and associated clinical risk factors of benzodiazepine use among Chinese patients with MDD. This study aimed to explore the prevalence and clinical risk factors associated with benzodiazepine use in this population., Methods: A total of 2742 patients with MDD (males/females = 816/1926, aged 14-60 years) participated in this cross-sectional observational study. General information and psychosis assessments were collected online. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), anxiety symptoms using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), and sleep problems and suicidal tendencies using the third and ninth items of the PHQ-9. Multivariable logistic regression analysis models were employed to identify factors associated with benzodiazepine use., Results: The prevalence of benzodiazepine use among patients with MDD was 42.9 %. Among these patients, 99.6 % used a single benzodiazepine, with oxazepam being the most frequently prescribed. Age, severity of sleep problems, depressive symptoms, and anxiety symptoms were significantly correlated with benzodiazepine use (all P < 0.001)., Limitations: The cross-sectional design of this study precludes establishing causal relationships., Conclusion: Our findings indicate a high prevalence of benzodiazepine use among Chinese patients with MDD. Factors such as severe depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, age, and sleep problems appear to be associated with benzodiazepine use. Background: A relatively small number of studies have researched the relationship between sleep duration and suicidal ideation, attempts, and behavior. This research aims to investigate the link between sleep duration and suicide in Chinese adolescents, and to examine the role of depression as a mediating factor., Method: Data were collected from 3315 students using a multi-stage random cluster sampling method and self-administered questionnaires. The study applied logistic regression to investigate the relationship between sleep duration and various forms of suicidal behavior, and mediation analysis to understand how depression might influence this relationship., Results: The average sleep duration among the adolescents was 7.25 h (±0.20), with 59.67 % reporting insufficient sleep. The logistic regression analysis showed that longer sleep duration is linked with lower risks of suicidal ideation (OR: 0.753, 95%CI: 0.696 to 0.814), suicidal attempts (OR: 0.830, 95%CI: 0.748 to 0.922), and suicidal behavior (OR: 0.841, 95%CI: 0.713 to 0.992). Analysis using restricted cubic spline plots indicated the connection between sleep duration and these suicidal factors was not linear. The study found that depression plays a partial mediating role between sleep duration and suicidal ideation, with an effect of 52.29 %., Limitations: The cross-sectional study design could not prove causation., Conclusions: There is a clear non-linear association between sleep duration and suicidal tendencies in adolescents, with depression acting as a mediator. Background: The relationship between chronic disease status (CDS) and transitions in depressive symptoms (DS) remains unclear. This study explores the association between CDS and DS transitions., Methods: This cohort study analyzed data from 8175 participants aged 45+, sourced from China Family Panel Studies (2016, 2018, 2020). DS were assessed using a brief version of Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). CDS was categorized into healthy, single disease, and multimorbidity. Markov models were used to estimate state transition intensities, mean sojourn times and hazard ratios (HRs)., Results: DS transitions occurred between adjacent and non-adjacent states, but transition intensity between adjacent states was higher than among non-adjacent states. Self-transition intensities of severe-DS, mild-DS, and non-DS progressively increased, with average durations of 1.365, 1.482, and 7.854 years, respectively. Both single disease and multimorbidity were significantly associated with an increased risk of transitioning from non-DS to mild-DS, with multimorbidity showing a stronger association. In contrast, HRs for single diseases transitioning from mild-DS to severe-DS were significantly lower than 1. Furthermore, their HRs were almost <1 in recovery transitions but not statistically significant., Limitations: Specific chronic diseases and their combinations were not analyzed., Conclusions: The progression of DS exhibits various pathways. CDS is associated with DS transitions, but the roles of single disease and multimorbidity may differ across different DS progression stages. Both conditions were significantly linked to the risk of new-onset DS, with multimorbidity posing a greater association. However, this relationship is not observed in other progression stages. Background: Handgrip strength (HGS) weakness and asymmetry were recently reported to be associated with age-related health conditions. However, little is known about their combined effects on depression. We aimed to explore the joint association of HGS asymmetry and weakness with depressive symptoms in Chinese middle and older aged population., Methods: 8700 participants aged ≥45 years were enrolled from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (2015-2018). HGS weakness was determined as maximal HGS < 28 kg in males and <18 kg in females. HGS asymmetry was measured by HGS ratio and was defined using two different rules. Specifically, HGS ratio < 0.90 or >1.10 (10 % rule) and <0.80 or >1.20 (20 % rule) were considered as asymmetry. Participants were classified into four groups: normal and symmetric HGS, asymmetry only, weakness only, and both weakness and asymmetry. Depressive symptoms were assessed by the 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, with scores ≥12 defined as depression. The logistic regression and multiple linear regression models were conducted to estimate the associations between HGS status and depressive symptoms., Results: The three-year incidence of depression was 19.2 %. After adjusting for covariates, compared to normal and symmetric HGS, participants with both HGS asymmetry and weakness showed the greatest risk of incident depression (10 % rule: OR 1.55, 95 % CI 1.19-2.02; 20 % rule: OR 1.71, 95 % CI 1.16-2.50). The coexistence of asymmetry and weakness was related to a significant increase in depression score (10 % rule: β 0.96, 95 % CI 0.38-1.54; 20 % rule: β 0.94, 95 % CI 0.08-1.81). The complete case analysis supported the results, and the associations were not modified by age, sex, and hand dominance., Limitations: Depressive assessment was based on self-reported screening instrument., Conclusions: The presence of both HGS asymmetry and weakness was associated with a higher risk of depression. Background: Little evidence exists about whether a combination of healthy lifestyle factors is associated with a lower risk of depressive symptoms among Chinese population. We aimed to investigate the association between combined healthy lifestyle factors and risk of depressive symptoms., Methods: We conducted a baseline survey from July 2021 to December 2023, including 53,642 Chinese adults from general population. A healthy lifestyle score was constructed based on six lifestyle factors (physical activity, smoking status, alcohol consumption, diet, sleep duration, and body mass index). Logistic regression models were used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) adjusted for confounding variables., Results: Each additional healthy lifestyle score was associated with a 20 % lower risk of having depressive symptoms (OR (95 % CI): 0.80 (0.78-0.81)). Compared with individuals with ≤2 healthy lifestyle factors, individuals with all the six healthy lifestyle factors had a 58 % reduced risk of having depressive symptoms (0.42 (0.37-0.47)). After stratification by gender, education and urbanization, the significant inverse association with healthy lifestyle score was stronger in women, individuals with high education, and urban residents. Besides, the significant negative association between healthy lifestyle score and depressive symptoms remained for different severity of depressive symptoms., Limitations: Given the cross-sectional nature of data, we cannot make causal inferences., Conclusions: Our study indicated that adherence to healthy lifestyle factors was associated with a reduced risk of having depressive symptoms among Chinese adults. The observed associations were modified by gender, education and urbanization. Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the mental health of human beings since 2020, especially the young people and the pre-existing marginalized groups such as men who have sex with men (MSM). During the COVID-19 pandemic, the multi-country outbreak of mpox in 2022 additionally posed a significant stress on the most-affected communities (i.e., MSM). This study investigated the level of depressive symptoms and its multifaceted associated factors among Chinese young men who have sex with men (YMSM) in this unique period., Methods: In September 2022, a large-scale cross-sectional survey was conducted among YMSM aged 18-29 years across six representative provinces in China. Hierarchical regression analysis was performed to test the various types of associated factors of depressive symptoms., Results: Among the 2493 participants, 65.6 % (n = 1638) reported mild to severe depressive symptoms. The hierarchical regression analysis identified that depressive symptoms was significantly positively associated with unemployment, having substance use in the past 6 months, a higher level of MSM self-stigma, incompletion of COVID-19 vaccination, greater mpox risk perception, and presence of mpox related-like symptoms., Limitations: This study used the facility-based sampling method to recruit the participants, which may lead to selection bias., Conclusions: Chinese YMSM faced significant mental health challenges during the concurrent epidemics of COVID-19 and mpox, which was associated with their socio-economic status, risk behaviors, stigma, and multiple diseases-related variables. This study aims to analyze the prevalence trend of esophageal cancer in Japan and China to provide suggestions for the prevention and treatment of esophageal cancer. The results showed that the incidence rate for the years 2010-2018 significantly decreased with an APC of 5.66%, and the mortality rate from 2010 to 2015 had an APC of -5.87% in China. However, the incidence rate of Japanese women showed an upward trend, with an APC of 4.09% from 2010 to 2019. The mortality rate of esophageal cancer in Japan showed a downward trend, with an APC of -2.96% from 2010 to 2021. From 2010 to 2018, Chinese esophageal squamous cell carcinoma accounted for the highest proportion, accounting for 85.96%, with the largest distribution in the middle, accounting for 47.25%. Patients are mostly diagnosed at stage III, and the relative survival rate from 2012 to 2015 was 30.3%. Japan also has the highest proportion of squamous cell carcinoma, and the lesions are also mostly located in the middle segment. While Japanese esophageal cancer patients are mostly diagnosed at stage I, and the relative survival rate was 41.5% in Japan from 2009 to 2011. The results of this article indicate that the current prevalence of esophageal cancer in China and Japan is generally declining, and the quality of life of patients is gradually improving, but effective screening and prevention strategies are still needed to reduce the burden of this disease., (© 2024 UICC.)

It remains unclear how ambient air pollution may affect the prevalence of obstructive ventilatory dysfunction (OVD) among workers. We aim to assess the association of a comprehensive set of ambient air pollutants with OVD prevalence in workers and to explore the potential interactive effects of the occupational factors. This is a population-based cross-sectional study among 305,022 participants from the Guangdong Province, China. Mixed-effects models were used to obtain differences in the OVD risk associated with a 10 μg/m 3 increase in ambient air pollution. We found that for each 10 μg/m 3 increase in PM 2.5 , PM 10 , PM coarse , O 3 , and NO 2 concentrations, the odds ratio (OR) for OVD in workers is 1.324 (95 % confidence interval (CI), 1.282-1.367), 1.292 (95 % CI, 1.268-1.315),1.666 (95 % CI, 1.614-1.719), 1.153 (95 % CI, 1.142-1.165), and 1.023 (95 % CI, 1.012-1.033). We observed that young participants (18-38 years old), women, participants with longer years of service (>48 months), participants working in large enterprises, professional skills workers, and production and manufacturing workers have higher estimated effects. In addition, we also found that workers exposed to high temperatures have higher estimated effects under air pollutants exposure, while workers exposed to noise have higher estimated effects under PM 2.5 , PM 10 , NO 2 , and O 3 exposure. Workers exposed to dust have a lower risk of developing OVD under exposure to ambient air pollutants compared to those not exposed. Our results indicate that ambient air pollution increases the risk of OVD in workers. Moreover, air pollutants exhibit a greater estimated effect among workers exposed to high temperatures or noise. A significant Omicron wave emerged in China in December 2022. To explore the duration of humoral and cellular response postinfection and the efficacy of hybrid immunity in preventing Omicron reinfection in patients with lung cancer, a total of 447 patients were included in the longitudinal study after the Omicron wave from March 2023 to August 2023. Humoral responses were measured at pre-Omicron wave, 3 months and 7 months postinfection. The detected severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) specific antibodies including total antibodies, anti-receptor binding domain (RBD) specific IgG, and neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 wild type (WT) and BA.4/5 variant. T cell responses against SARS-CoV-2 WT and Omicron variant were evaluated in 101 patients by ELISpot at 3 months postinfection. The results showed that Omicron-infected symptoms were mild, while fatigue (30.2%), shortness of breath (34.0%) and persistent cough (23.6%) were long-lasting, and vaccines showed efficacy against fever in lung cancer patients. Humoral responses were higher in full or booster vaccinated patients than those unvaccinated (p < .05 for all four antibodies), and the enhanced response persisted for at least 7 months. T cell response to Omicron was higher than WT peptides (21.3 vs. 16.0 SFUs/10 6 PBMCs, p = .0093). Moreover, 38 (9.74%) patients were reinfected, which had lower antibody responses than non-reinfected patients (all p < .05), and those patients of unvaccinated at late stage receiving anti-cancer immunotherapy alone were at high risk of reinfection. The relationships between the exposure to ambient air pollutants during gestation and the incidence of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDPs) or preeclampsia are contradictory. This prospective cohort study enrolled the participants between January 2020 and December 2021 from the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Hubei Province, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The exposure to ambient air pollutants and daily temperatures were obtained from the ChinaHighAirPollutants dataset and the Big Earth Data Platform for Three Poles, respectively. Logistic regression models were used as single- and two-pollutant models. Restricted cubic splines were applied to each ambient air pollutant exposure to further evaluate the exposure-response relationships. Quantile G-computation approaches were employed to evaluate the cumulative impact of mixed ambient air pollutants on the incidence risk HDPs and preeclampsia. Among 19,325 participants (median age: 30.2 years), 1669 (8.64%) were diagnosed with HDPs and 180 (0.94%) with preeclampsia. While mostly null risk estimates were observed, exposure to PM 1 , PM 2.5 , PM 10, and NO 2 correlated with a decreased incidence risk for HDPs and preeclampsia during most gestational periods. Additionally, our multi-pollutant model presented that an increase by one quartile in the cumulative effect of ambient air pollutants was associated with a significantly decreased incidence risk for HDPs in the trimester before gestation and in the third trimester during gestation, as well as for preeclampsia in the third trimester during gestation. China's swift socioeconomic development has led to extremely severe ambient PM 2.5 levels, the associated negative health outcomes of which include premature death. However, a comprehensive explanation of the socioeconomic mechanism contributing to PM 2.5 -related premature deaths has not yet to be fully elucidated through long-term spatial panel data. Here, we employed a global exposure mortality model (GEMM) and the system generalized method of moments (Sys-GMM) to examine the primary determinants contributing to premature deaths in Chinese provinces from 2000 to 2021. We found that in the research period, premature deaths in China increased by 46 %, reaching 1.87 million, a figure that decreased somewhat after the COVID-19 outbreak. 62 thousand premature deaths were avoided in 2020 and 2021 compared to 2019, primarily due to the decline in PM 2.5 concentrations. Premature deaths have increased across all provinces, particularly in North China, and a discernible spatial agglomeration effect was observed, highlighting effects on nearby provinces. The findings also underscored the significance of determinants such as urbanization, import and export trade, and energy consumption in exacerbating premature deaths, while energy intensity exerted a mitigating influence. Importantly, a U-shaped relationship between premature deaths and economic development was unveiled for the first time, implying the need for vigilance regarding potential health impact deterioration and the implementation of countermeasures as the per capita GDP increases in China. Background: Despite evidence linking fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) to cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM), the impact of its components remains unclear. Socioeconomic status (SES) and regional disparities may confound their association. We aim to evaluate the associations between PM 2.5 components and CMM and explore how socioeconomic status and regional disparities affect these relationships., Methods: We recruited 108,941 participants aged 35-76 years from ten cities in eastern China. Individual exposure was assessed using Tracking Air Pollution in China (TAP) data, including PM 2.5 and five components: ammonium (NH 4 + ), black carbon (BC), nitrates (NO 3 - ), organic matter (OM), and sulfates (SO 4 2- ). Generalized linear models and quantile g-computation models were employed to quantify the effects of PM 2.5 components on CMM and to identify key components. Stratified analyses were performed to investigate the modifying effect of SES and regional disparities., Results: For each increase in interquartile range (IQR), BC (odds ratio [OR] 1.37, 95 % CI 1.29-1.47), OM (1.38, 1.29-1.48), NH 4 + (1.31, 1.21-1.40), NO 3 - (1.34, 1.25-1.44), and SO 4 2- (1.28, 1.20-1.38) were positively associated with CMM. Joint exposure to five components was significantly positively associated with CMM (OR: 1.27, 95 % CI: 1.21-1.33), with SO 4 2- having the highest estimated weight, followed by NO 3 - and BC. These associations were stronger for participants from low socio-economic status and poor regions., Conclusion: In summary, we found a stronger hazard effect of PM 2.5 and its components on CMM, compared to those suffering from CMDs, particularly among participants with low socioeconomic status and in poor regions. Growing awareness acknowledges ambient fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) as an environmental risk factor for mental disorders, especially among older people. However, there remains limited evidence regarding which specific chemical components of PM 2.5 may be more detrimental. This nationwide prospective cohort study included 22,126 middle-aged and older adult participants of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS, 2011-2016), to explore the individual and joint associations between long-term exposure to various PM 2.5 components (sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, organic matter, and black carbon) and depressive symptoms. The depressive symptoms were assessed using the 10-item Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D-10). Using the novel quantile-based g-computation for multi-pollutant mixture analysis, we found that exposure to the mixture of major PM 2.5 components was significantly associated with aggravating depressive symptoms, with the exposure-response curve exhibiting consistent linear or supra-linear shape without a lower threshold. The estimated weight index indicated that, among major PM 2.5 components, only nitrate, sulfate, and black carbon significantly contributed to the exacerbation of depressive symptoms. Rationale: The association between ambient coarse particulate matter (PM 2.5 - 10 ) and mortality in multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) patients has not yet been studied. The modifying effects of temperature and humidity on this association are completely unknown., Objectives: To evaluate the effects of long-term PM 2.5 - 10 exposures, and their modifications by temperature and humidity on mortality among MDR-TB patients., Methods: A Chinese cohort of 3469 MDR-TB patients was followed up from diagnosis until death, loss to follow-up, or the study's end, averaging 2567 days per patient. PM 2.5 - 10 concentrations were derived from the difference between PM 10 and PM 2.5 . Cox proportional hazard models estimated hazard ratios (HRs) per 3.74 μg/m 3 (interquartile range, IQR) exposure to PM 2.5 - 10 and all-cause mortality for the full cohort and individuals at distinct long-term and short-term temperature and humidity levels, adjusting for other air pollutants and potential covariates. Exposure-response relationships were quantified using smoothed splines., Results: Hazard ratios of 1.733 (95% CI, 1.407, 2.135) and 1.427 (1.114, 1.827) were observed for mortality in association with PM 2.5 - 10 exposures for the full cohort under both long-term and short-term exposures to temperature and humidity. Modifying effects by temperature and humidity were heterogenous across sexes, age, treatment history, and surrounding environment measured by greenness and nighttime light levels. Nonlinear exposure-response curves suggestes a cumulative risk of PM 2.5 - 10 -related mortality starting from a low exposure concentration around 15 μg/m 3 ., Conclusion: Long-term exposure to PM 2.5 - 10 poses significant harm among MDR-TB patients, with effects modified by temperature and humidity. To eliminate the epidemic of coal-burning-borne endemic arsenism (CBBA), our study organized and implemented comprehensive measures including high-arsenic coal ban, improved cook-stoves, and health education. We also aimed to promote the application value of these measures in preventing and controlling CBBA to the world. From 2004 to 2005, through a stratified random sampling method, we selected 58,256 individuals to investigate the prevalence of CBBA and the arsenic levels in 1287 environmental and biological specimens. The prevalence of CBBA was 19.26 % and significantly associated with the arsenic levels in coal, pepper, corn and hair, which were at or exceeded national upper limits. To timely prevent and control the disease, the comprehensive measures have been implemented since 2005 to present. Comparison and correlation analyses were utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of these measures in reducing the prevalence of CBBA. According to statistics, 73 high-arsenic coal mines were banned and over 99 % households in endemic areas accepted stove improvements and diversified health education. Monitoring studies during 2010-2019 has confirmed that these measures led to a decrease in urine arsenic levels among endemic residents, and they developed novel dietary practices, such as properly drying, storage, and washing of food. Additionally, the awareness rate of CBBA increased from less than 70 % to over 95 %. Finally, the prevalence of CBBA has decreased to 0.153 % investigated by a census involving 2.076 million endemic residents in 2019. The impact of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on microplastic (MP) occurrence in aquatic environments deserves an in-depth study. In this study, the occurrence of MPs and environmental flux of plastics before (2019) and during (2020 and 2021) the pandemic were comparatively investigated in various aquatic compartments in the Taihu Lake Basin in China. The field-based investigations from 2019 to 2021 for Taihu Lake have shown that, at the onset of the outbreak, the MP abundance declined at a rate of 62.3 %, but gradually recovered to the pre-pandemic level. However, the amount of plastics being released into aquatic environments showed a declining trend in 2020 and 2021 compared to those in 2019, with decrease rates of 13.7 % and 15.8 %, respectively. Characterization analysis of MP particles and source apportionment framework implied that while the contributions of tire abrasion and domestic waste to MP occurrence were depleted owing to the reduction in human activity during the pandemic, weathering and fragmentation of retained plastics contributed to the recovery of stored MPs. Background: Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are a class of environmental chemicals with endocrine-disrupting properties. Epidemiologic studies have demonstrated that prenatal OPEs exposure is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders in offspring. However, studies assessing the effects of prenatal OPEs exposure on the dynamic changes in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms in preschoolers are scarce. Since vitamin D has been demonstrated to have a "neuroprotective" effect, the modifying effects of maternal vitamin D were estimated., Methods: The present study included 2410 pregnant women from the Ma'anshan Birth Cohort. The levels of OPEs in the mothers' urine were examined in the three trimesters. The Chinese version of the Conners Abbreviated Symptom Questionnaire was used to examine preschoolers' ADHD symptoms at 3, 5, and 6 years of age. ADHD symptom trajectories were fitted via group-based trajectory modeling. We used multinomial logistic regression, Bayesian kernel machine regression, quantile-based g-computation, and generalized linear models to assess individual and mixed relationships between OPEs during pregnancy and preschoolers' ADHD symptoms and trajectories., Results: Preschoolers' ADHD symptom scores were fitted to 3 trajectories, including the low-score, moderate-score, and high-score groups. First-trimester dibutyl phosphate (DBP), second-trimester bis(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate (BBOEP), and third-trimester diphenyl phosphate (DPHP) were associated with an increased risk in the high-score group (p < 0.05). BBOEP in the third trimester was associated with decreased risk in the moderate-score group (OR = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.79, 1.00). For mothers with 25(OH)D deficiency, a positive relationship was observed between OPEs during pregnancy and symptom trajectories. Our results did not reveal any mixed effects of OPEs on ADHD symptom trajectories., Conclusion: Prenatal exposure to OPEs had heterogeneous associations with ADHD symptom trajectories in preschoolers. Evidence on the link of long-term exposure to ozone (O 3 ) with childhood asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis and eczema is inconclusive. We did a population-based cross-sectional survey, including 177,888 children from 173 primary and middle schools in 14 Chinese cities. A satellite-based spatiotemporal model was employed to assess four-year average O 3 exposure at both residential and school locations. Information on asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema and conjunctivitis was collected by a standard questionnaire developed by the American Thoracic Society. We used generalized non-linear and linear mixed models to test the associations. We observed linear exposure-response associations between O 3 and all outcomes. The odds ratios of doctor-diagnosed asthma, rhinitis, eczema, and conjunctivitis associated with per interquartile increment in home-school O 3 concentration were 1.31 (95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.28, 1.34), 1.25 (95 %CI: 1.23, 1.28), 1.19 (95 %CI: 1.16, 1.21), and 1.28 (95 %CI: 1.21, 1.34), respectively. Similar associations were observed for asthma-related outcomes including current asthma, wheeze, current wheeze, persistent phlegm, and persistent cough. Moreover, stronger associations were observed among children who were aged > 12 years, physically inactive, and exposed to higher temperature. Background: Helicobacter pylori infection (HPI) is extremely common in the world, particularly in less developed areas, but the primary causes of childhood HPI are unspecified., Objectives: To determine the influences of exposure to home environmental factors (HEFs), outdoor air pollutants (OAPs), and parental stress (PS), as well as their interactions on children's HPI., Methods: We implemented a retrospective cohort study with 8689 preschoolers from nine districts at Changsha, China, was conducted using questionnaires to collect data of health and HEFs. Temperature and OAPs data were collected from ten and eight monitoring stations, individually. Temperature and OAPs exposures were calculated for all home addresses using the inversed distance weighted (IDW) model. Multiple logistic regression analysis was carried out to determine the separate and combined impacts of HEFs, OAPs, and PS on HPI., Results: Children's HPI was significantly associated with exposure to moisture-specific indoor allergens in one-year preceding conception, gestation, and first year, smoke-specific air pollution throughout life, and plant-specific allergens in previous year. Outdoor exposures to CO in the 7th-9th month before conception, as well as PM 2.5 in the second trimester and previous year, were associated with HPI, with ORs (95 % CIs) of 1.22 (1.05-1.41), 1.23 (1.03-1.46), and 1.33 (1.14-1.55). Parents' socioeconomic and psychological stress indicators were positively related to HPI. High socioeconomic indicators and psychological stresses increased the roles of indoor renovation and moisture indicators as well as outdoor SO 2 , PM 2.5 and O 3 on children's HPI over their entire lives. Background: The reported number of pertussis cases declined after the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control measures, however, the burden of pertussis among adults in China remains largely unknown. Additionally, the waning of natural antibody level has also rarely been assessed., Methods: A total of 762 healthcare workers (HCWs) who had underwent the health examinations in 2021 and 2022 were included. Serum anti-PT IgG and IgA levels were determined by ELISA. Recent B. pertussis infection was defined as anti-PT IgG ≥100 IU/ml and/or anti-PT IgA ≥10 IU/ml., Results: In 2021, the seroprevalence of recent B. pertussis infection was 10.1 %, and those HCWs in outpatient department had a higher percentage (18.6 %), and geometric mean concentration (GMC) (6.3 IU/ml) than those in other departments. This seroprevalence decreased to 2.4 % in 2022, although the difference remained significant. In the 77 subjects with recent B. pertussis infection in 2021, anti-PT IgG was undetectable in 18 cases the following year. Majority (68/76) of the subjects with anti-PT IgA ≥10 IU/ml in 2021 no longer had detected this antibody in 2022. Among 95 pertussis cases, approximately 60.0 % of cases reported no history of cough. Among those with a documented cough history, 36 cases with suspected pertussis courses who had never been diagnosed. Prolonged cough with nocturnal exacerbation (29/38) was the most commonly reported clinical symptom, and whoop was confirmed in six cases. Uroclepsia and syncopes during the cough attacks were reported by three and one subjects, respectively. One case presented with subconjunctival hemorrhage and tensionic purpura during the course., Conclusions: The results suggested a high prevalence of B. pertussis infection among HCWs. Background: In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the government initiated measures for social distancing, leading to a gradual transition of adolescents' social interactions toward web-based platforms. Consequently, web-based behaviors, particularly cyberbullying, have become a prominent concern. Considering that adolescents experience more intense feelings, the widely increased negative emotions and strains perceived from the COVID-19 pandemic may end up engaging in cyberbullying behaviors. In addition, during the COVID-19 pandemic, adolescents experiencing insomnia and negative affect are more prone to diminished self-control, which is associated with cyberbullying behaviors., Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between epidemic perception and cyberbullying behaviors, while also examining the serial mediating roles of insomnia and negative affect on the relationship between epidemic perception and cyberbullying behaviors., Methods: This study presents a large-scale web-based survey conducted during the period of concentrated COVID-19 outbreaks, encompassing 20,000 Chinese adolescents. A total of 274 submitted questionnaires were discarded because of high levels of missing data or their answers were clearly fictitious or inconsistent. The final count of valid participants amounted to 19,726 (10,371 boys, age range: 12-18 years; mean 14.80, SD 1.63 years). The Perceptions of COVID-19 Scale, Negative Affect Scale, Insomnia Scale, and Cyberbullying Behavior Scale were used to assess participants' responses on the Questionnaire Star platform., Results: The results show that epidemic perception is positively correlated with cyberbullying behaviors (r=0.13; P<.001), insomnia (r=0.19; P<.001), and negative affect (r=0.25; P<.001). Insomnia is positively correlated with negative affect (r=0.44; P<.001) and cyberbullying behaviors (r=0.30; P<.001). Negative affect is positively correlated with cyberbullying behaviors (r=0.25; P<.001). And insomnia and negative affect play independent mediating and serial mediating roles in epidemic perception and cyberbullying behaviors., Conclusions: This study provides additional empirical evidence on the relationship between the perception of COVID-19 pandemic and cyberbullying in adolescents. Objectives: To investigate the screening status of warning signs for mental and behavioral development (WS) and influencing factors of infants and young children (IYC) in poverty eliminated regions of Henan Province. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. A total of 15 680 IYC aged 6-23 months from 51 poverty eliminated counties in Henan province from June to September of 2023 were selected through a multi-stage random sampling method. IYC's early warning signs were screened using the WS checklist (WSC). Children's socio-demographic characteristics, maternal information, birth status, and illness conditions such as fever and diarrhea within 2 weeks were measured through a uniformly designed questionnaire. All participants also received the measurement of height, weight, and hemoglobin concentration level. Logistic regression model was used to explore the influencing factors of positive WSC and conducted sensitivity analyses. Results: Among the sample of 15 680 IYC, there were 8 462 boys (53.97%) and 7 218 girls (49.03%), with their age of (15±5) months. A total of 291 (1.86%) IYC were positive in WSC. Parenting risk ( OR =5.07, 95% CI 3.93-6.52, P <0.001) and preterm birth ( OR =1.63, 95% CI 1.06-2.52, P =0.027) were both positively associated with the odds of WSC's positivity. Being girls ( OR =0.66, 95% CI 0.52-0.85, P =0.001), age (12-17 months, OR =0.47, 95% CI 0.35-0.62, P <0.001; 18-23 months, OR =0.40, 95% CI 0.30-0.54, P <0.001), and maternal educational level (junior high school, OR =0.46, 95% CI 0.32-0.66, P <0.001; senior high school or vocational high school, OR =0.35, 95% CI 0.23-0.56, P <0.001; college and above, OR =0.36, 95% CI 0.23-0.57, P <0.001) were all negatively associated with the risk of WSC's positivity. Sensitivity analyses demonstrated that, after excluding anemic children, the association between preterm birth and WSC's positivity was not significant ( OR =1.54, 95% CI 0.95-2.49, P =0.081). Despite this situation, being girls, age and maternal educational level were still negatively associated with the odds of WSC's positivity (all P <0.05); preterm birth, parenting risk were remained positive associated with the risk of WSC's positivity (all P <0.05) either by excluding children with protein-energy malnutrition or 2-week morbidity, or using prevalence ratio instead of OR . Conclusions: Among the IYC in poverty eliminated regions of Henan Province, the risk of positivity of WSC was higher for those IYC with parenting risk, preterm birth, boys, younger age, and lower maternal education level. These influencing factors, such as gender, age, preterm birth, parenting risk and maternal educational level, were in certain stability across different IYC characteristics and estimation models.

Objectives: To investigate the rate and risk factors of tip displacement of umbilical venous catheterization (UVC) in preterm infants. Methods: This was a multicenter cohort study. Study population were preterm infants admitted to 44 tertiary hospitals in China between October 2019 and August 2021. Demographic information, general clinical data, UVC indwelling conditions and related complications were collected. The primary outcome was the rate of UVC tip displacement. The observation time points were 2 d and 7 d after UVC. They were grouped according to UVC displacement, gestational age, and birth weight. Binary Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of UVC tip displacement. Results: The 2 086 preterm infants had a gestational age of (29.9±2.3) weeks and a birth weight of (1 248±298) g. There were 1 106 male preterm infants (53.0%). The rate of UVC displacement at 2 d and 7 d were 34.6% (721/2 086) and 33.6% (494/1 470), respectively, with no statistically significant difference ( χ 2 =0.35, P =0.533). Univariate analysis indicated that male infants, small gestational age, low birth weight and small catheter diameter were all risk factors for UVC tip displacement at the 2 d time point (all P <0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that small catheter diameter was an independent risk factor for tip displacement at both 2 d ( OR= 0.47, 95% CI 0.34-0.66) and 7 d ( OR= 0.39, 95% CI 0.25-0.59) time points (both P <0.001). Conclusions: The rate of UVC tip displacement is high in preterm infants. It should be avoided to deliberately select a small diameter catheter for UVC, and pay attention to the imaging monitoring of the tip position after UVC.

Objective: To analyze the diagnosis and treatment of children with rare diseases in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), the distribution of disease types and populations, clinical characteristics, and the use of orphan drugs. Methods: A retrospective case summary was conducted. Data were collected from 105 children aged 29 days to <18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of rare diseases according to the "First Batch of Rare Disease Catalogue in China" who were admitted to the PICU of Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 2020 to December 2022. Data including general information, auxiliary examinations, and treatment details for each patient were collected from the hospital's electronic medical record system. Patients were divided into age groups: infancy (29 days to<1 year), early childhood (1 to <3 years), preschool age (3 to<7 years), school age (7 to<13 years), and adolescence (13 to<18 years) . The chi-square test was used to compare gender distribution differences among various rare diseases. Results: A total of 105 patients with 130 cases meeting the diagnostic criteria were included, accounting for 4.7% (130/2 754) of the total admissions to the PICU. The age at PICU admission was 5.3 (0.8, 9.5) years and there were 81 cases in male. The 3 most common types of diseases were endocrine, nutritional, and metabolic diseases (37 cases); followed by neurological disorders(32 cases); and congenital malformations, deformities, and chromosomal abnormalities(17 cases). The 5 most common rare diseases were methylmalonic acidemia (14 cases), mitochondrial encephalomyopathy (14 cases), atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (12 cases), autoimmune encephalitis (12 cases), and idiopathic cardiomyopathy (9 cases). The distributions of common rare diseases varied among different age groups. In infants, atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome was most common (6 children). There was no statistically significant difference regarding gender among children with mitochondrial encephalomyopathy (13.6% (11/81) vs. 6.1% (3/49), χ 2 =1.77, P =0.184). Respiratory failure (36 cases) was the primary reason for rare diseases children to be admitted to the PICU. A total of 95 cases underwent mechanical ventilation, 39 cases received multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment, and only 6 children received orphan drug therapy during their stay in the PICU. Conclusions: Rare diseases are not uncommon in PICU. Endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disorders, neurological disorders, congenital malformations, deformities, and chromosomal abnormalities were common. Methylmalonic acidemia, mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and autoimmune encephalitis have higher cases. Many children with rare diseases in the PICU have complex conditions those are challenging to treat, requiring multidisciplinary collaboration. The utilization rate of orphan drugs among children with rare diseases in PICU needs to be improved.

Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and management status of children with Turner syndrome (TS) in China. Methods: As a cross-sectional study, 1 089 TS patients were included in the database of the National Collaborative Alliance for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Turner Syndrome from August 2019 to November 2023. Clinical characteristics (growth development, sexual development, organ anomalies, etc.), karyotypes, auxiliary examinations, and treatments were collected and analyzed. Results: Among the 1 089 TS cases, 809 were recorded karyotypes. The karyotype distribution was as follows: 45, X in 317 cases (39.2%), X chromosome structural variants (including partial deletions of p or q arm, ring chromosome, and marker chromosome) in 89 cases (11.0%), 45, X/46, XX mosaicism in 158 cases (19.5%), mosaicism with X chromosome structural variants in 209 cases (25.8%), and presence of Y chromosome material in 36 cases (4.4%). Among the 824 TS cases, the age of diagnosis was 9.7(6.4, 12.2) years, with a height standard deviation score (HtSDS) of -3.1±1.2. Five hundred and fifty three cases underwent growth hormone (GH) stimulation test, and 352 cases (63.7%) had GH peak values <10 μg/L and 75.9% (577/760) had low IGF1 levels, with IGF1 SDS ≤-2 accounting for 38.2% (290 cases). Among 471 cases aged ≥8 years, 132 cases (28.0%) showed spontaneous sexual development (mean bone age (11.0±1.7) years), 10 cases had spontaneous menarche (mean bone age (12.0±2.2) years), and 2 cases had regular menstrual cycles. Common physical features included cubitus valgus (311 cases (28.5%)), neck webbing (188 cases (17.2%)), low posterior hairline (185 cases (17.0%)), shield chest (153 cases (14.0%)), high arched palate (127 cases (11.6%)), short fourth metacarpal (43 cases (3.9%)), and spinal abnormalities (38 cases (3.5%)). Congenital cardiovascular and urogenital anomalies occurred in 91 cases (19.4%) and 66 cases (12.0%)respectively. Abdominal ultrasound in 33 cases (7.2%) indicated fatty liver, hepatomegaly, intrahepatic bile duct stones, and splenomegaly. Among 23 cases undergoing oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) test, 2 were diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and 4 with impaired glucose tolerance. Following diagnosis, 669 cases (80.7%) received rhGH treatment at a chronological age of (9±4) years and bone age of (8.3±3.2) years. Additionally, 112 cases (19.4%) received sex hormone replacement therapy starting at the age of (14±4) years and bone age of (12.6±1.2) years. Conclusions: The karyotypes of 45, X and mosaicism were most common in Chinese children with TS. The clinical manifestations were mainly short stature and gonadal dysplasia. However, a few TS children could be in the normal range of height, and some cases among those aged of ≥8 years old had spontaneous sexual development. Some exhibited physical features, congenital cardiovascular and urogenital anomalies, and dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-IGF1 axis. Moreover, a few of them developed impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes mellitus. Following diagnosis, most of the patients received rhGH treatment, and a few of them received sex hormone replacement therapy.

Objectives: Post-myocardial infarction ventricular septal rupture (PIVSR) is one of the most severe types of mechanical complications after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with high mortality and poor prognosis. The risk factors for short-term mortality of patients with PIVSR may be not widely recognized. We aimed to assess the prevalence and short-term mortality risk predictors of PIVSR., Methods: A total of 62 patients with a diagnosis of PIVSR were admitted to three top general public hospitals in Chongqing, China. Clinical characteristics and short-term outcomes of patients with PIVSR were compared. Predictors of PIVSR were assessed using logistic regression analysis., Results: Mean age was 70.7 ± 10.7 years (38.7% female). The overall in-hospital mortality of PIVSR remained high (71%). Most (47/62) of the patients were in Killip class III or IV at the time of rupture diagnosis. Logistic regression analysis revealed that white blood cell count (WBC, OR 1.619, 95% CI 1.172-2.237, P = 0.005), cardiogenic shock (OR 47.706, 95%CI 2.859-795.945, P = 0.007) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF, OR 0.803, 95%CI 0.689-0.936, P = 0.009) were independent risk factors of in-hospital early mortality. The nomogram developed for predicting the risk of short-term mortality showed a robust discrimination, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.956 (95%CI 0.912-1.000)., Conclusion: The short-term mortality of PIVSR remained high. WBC, cardiogenic shock, and LVEF were the independent predictive factors of short-term mortality. Our nomogram might be used to predict early mortality of patients with PIVSR., (© 2024. Objective: To delineate the clinical characteristics of preterm birth (PTB) in the context of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)., Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, including 14,314 pregnant women with GDM who delivered at Fujian Provincial Maternity and Children's Hospital from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2021. PTB was stratified into late PTB (34-36 weeks of gestation) and early PTB (< 34 weeks) and pregnancy complications were analyzed., Results: Compared to the term birth (TB) cohort, a higher prevalence of premature rupture of membranes, hypertensive diseases of pregnancy (HDP), intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), anemia and cervical insufficiency was observed in the PTB cohort. Notably, early PTB increased the incidence of HDP, ICP, anemia and cervical insufficiency compared to late PTB. In the early stages of pregnancy, early PTB was characterized by elevated triglyceride (TG) levels and decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels compared to late PTB. In the late pregnancy stages, early PTB was associated with increased white blood cell (WBC) and neutrophil counts. No disparities were observed in 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) between early and late PTB., Conclusion: Enhanced surveillance and management of GDM, particularly in the presence of HDP, ICP and anemia, are imperative to mitigate the risk of PTB. Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) results in severe, permanent functional changes and has become a global health priority due to its high incidence, cost, and disability rate. Current national epidemiological data on SCI in China are limited and outdated. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive, national cross-sectional investigation of SCI epidemiology in China., Methods: This cross-sectional study included 3055 SCI participants aged 8 to 78 years, conducted from May to September 2023. Data collected encompassed demographic characteristics, employment status, etiology, years lived with disability (YLD), family structure, caregiving status, income, health insurance, paralysis type, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Descriptive statistics analyses were used to assess demographic and injury characteristics. Group differences were assessed using t-tests, one-way ANOVA and Chi-square tests. Significant factors were examined using multivariate regression analysis., Results: The majority (88.9%) of respondents were aged 15 to 59 years, with a male-to-female ratio of 2.36:1. Car accidents caused 45.4% of tetraplegia cases, falls caused 35.9% of paraplegia cases, and myelitis was the leading cause of non-traumatic SCI. Among paraplegia participants, 65.5% had complete SCI, while 53.1% of tetraplegia participants had incomplete SCI. Functional improvement was reported by 9.58% of participants. Half (50.3%) of the respondents were unemployed, and 75% had incomes below the national average. HRQoL was significantly lower in the SCI population compared to controls, mainly influenced by injury site, income, age and etiology (p < 0.05)., Conclusions: SCI participants in China exhibit low HRQoL and reemployment rates. Accessible community and vocational rehabilitation programs, alongside robust public medical services, are essential for enhancing reemployment and HRQoL among SCI participants, reducing the overall disease burden., (© 2024. Varicella is endemic worldwide. In China, varicella has not yet been included in the list of legal infectious diseases, nor has a unified national surveillance program been established. And the live attenuated varicella vaccine has not been included in routine immunization. In this study, we analyzed for the first time the varicella epidemiology in Jilin Province in the past 20 years, and the nucleotide site, amino acid site and N-glycosylation site variation of glycoprotein in varicella-zoster virus (VZV) surface 9 in the past 15 years. The results showed that the reported incidence of varicella in Jilin Province in the last 20 years was fluctuating above and below 20/100,000, especially after the epidemic of the COVID-19, and fatal cases appeared in individual years. The genotypic branching of VZV was monitored as Clade 2 in the last 15 years. 9 glycogen nucleotide sites of VZV had different degrees of variability, and the variability had specificity. Therefore, it gives us the idea that in order to reduce the incidence of varicella and herpes zoster, a provincial or even national surveillance program should be introduced as early as possible, and the dynamic monitoring of the variability of the nucleotide sites of VZV should be strengthened at the same time as the vaccine immunization strategy is introduced., (© 2024. Background: Little empirical evidences were provided on the disparity in the level of loneliness between the migrant older with children (MOC) and their local counterpart in China. This study aimed to explore the association between social participation and loneliness and verify whether there was a local-migrant difference in this association., Methods: A total of 1332 older people (60 +) were included in this study with 656 MOC and 676 natives. Loneliness was assessed by the University of California Los Angeles Loneliness Scale with eight items (ULS-8). Social participation was evaluated by three kinds of social activities concerning sports activities, hobby activities and community resident interaction. Univariate analysis was conducted to compare the local-migrant disparity as well as the level of loneliness between different subgroups. Hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis was used to examine the proposed relationship and the moderating influence of migration status., Results: The average ULS-8 scores were 11.73 ± 4.02 for local subjects and 12.82 ± 4.05 for MOC respectively, indicating a lower level of loneliness among local older people. Participating in hobby activities (β = -0.092, P = 0.003) and interacting with residents (β = -0.216, P = 0.001) more frequently were related to lower level of loneliness while participating in square dancing was related to higher level of loneliness (β = 0.087, P = 0.001). The negative relationships between hobby activities as well as resident interaction and loneliness were more profound in migrants than natives., Conclusions: Only two types of social participation could help alleviate loneliness. Objective: To compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes of single-segment posterior decompression combined with two different non-fusion dynamic stabilization systems, Isobar EVO and Isobar TTL, in the context of facet joint degeneration and segmental mobility., Method: A retrospective study was conducted on 47 patients who underwent single-segment surgery at the L4/5 level using either the Isobar EVO (n = 23) or Isobar TTL (n = 24) systems. We assessed facet joint degeneration on both sides of the fixed (L3/4, L4/5) and superior adjacent (L2/3) segments using the Fujiwara MRI grading system. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analog scale (VAS) for back and leg pain at baseline, 12 months, and 24 months postoperatively., Result: Both groups exhibited significant facet joint degeneration at the fixed segments (L3/4 and L4/5) at 24 months. The TTL group also showed significant degeneration at the superior adjacent segment (L2/3), whereas the EVO group did not. Restoration of lumbar lordosis was significantly better in the EVO group. Pain and disability scores improved more in the EVO group than in the TTL group at both 12 and 24 months postoperatively., Conclusion: The Isobar EVO system, with its enhanced mobility, may delay facet joint degeneration in the superior adjacent segment compared to the Isobar TTL system. Importance: Schizophrenia episodes may be triggered by short-term environmental stimuli. Short-term increases in ambient air pollution levels may elevate the risk of schizophrenia episodes, yet few epidemiologic studies have examined this association., Objective: To investigate whether short-term increases in air pollution levels are associated with an additional risk of schizophrenia episodes, independent of absolute air pollution concentrations, and whether sustained increases in air pollution levels for several days are associated with more pronounced risks of schizophrenia episodes., Design, Setting, and Participants: This nationwide, population-based, time-stratified case-crossover study was performed based on hospitalization records for schizophrenia across 295 administrative divisions of prefecture-level or above cities in China. Records were extracted from 2 major health insurance systems from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2017. Thirty-six cities with a small number of schizophrenia hospitalizations (n < 50) were excluded. Data analysis for this study was performed from January to March 2024., Exposure: Daily absolute concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), inhalable particulate matter (PM10), nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone, and carbon monoxide were collected. Air pollution increases between neighboring days (APINs) were generated as the differences in absolute air pollution concentrations on the current day minus that on the previous day. Sustained increases (APIN ≥5 μg/m3 for PM2.5 and PM10, APIN ≥1 μg/m3 for nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide, and APIN ≥0.05 mg/m3 for carbon monoxide) lasting for 1 or more to 4 or more days were defined for different air pollutants., Main Outcome and Measure: Patients with schizophrenia episodes were identified by principal discharge diagnoses of schizophrenia. A conditional logistic regression model was used to capture the associations of absolute concentrations, APINs, and sustained increase events for different air pollutants with risks of schizophrenia hospitalizations., Results: The study included 817 296 hospitalization records for schizophrenia across 259 Chinese cities (30.6% aged 0-39 years, 56.4% aged 40-64 years, and 13.0% aged ≥65 years; 55.04% male). After adjusting for the absolute concentrations of respective air pollutants, per-IQR increases in 6-day moving average (lag0-5) APINs of PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon monoxide were associated with increases of 2.37% (95% CI, 0.88%-3.88%), 2.95% (95% CI, 1.46%-4.47%), 4.61% (95% CI, 2.93%-6.32%), 2.16% (95% CI, 0.59%-3.76%), and 2.02% (95% CI, 0.39%-3.68%) in schizophrenia hospitalizations, respectively. Greater risks of schizophrenia hospitalizations were associated with sustained increases in air pollutants lasting for longer durations up to 4 or more days., Conclusions and Relevance: This case-crossover study of the association between ambient air pollution increases and schizophrenia hospitalizations provides novel evidence that short-term increases in ambient air pollution levels were positively associated with an elevated risk of schizophrenia episodes. Future schizophrenia prevention practices should pay additional attention to APINs, especially sustained increases in air pollution levels for longer durations, besides the absolute air pollution concentrations.

This study aims to understand the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on hospitalized patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in China, who did not contract SARS-CoV-2. We conducted a multicenter cross-sectional analysis comparing the characteristics and outcomes of hospitalized PAD patients across two distinct periods: Pre-pandemic (P1, from January 2018 to December 2019) and during the pandemic (P2, from January 2020 to December 2021). During P1, 762 hospitalized patients were treated, with an average age of 72.3 years, while 478 patients were treated in P2, with an average age of 65.1 years. Notably, hospitalized patients admitted during the pandemic (P2) exhibited a significantly higher incidence of chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI, 70% vs 54%), diabetic foot infection (47% vs 29%), and infra-popliteal lesions (28% vs 22%). Furthermore, these patients demonstrated a marked deterioration in their Rutherford category and an increased mean score in the Wound, Ischemia, and foot Infection classification system (WIfI). Treatment during the pandemic emerged as a predictor of reduced procedural success and increased major adverse limb events. Factors such as the presence of diabetic foot infection, renal impairment, and deteriorating WIfI scores were identified as independent risk indicators for major adverse limb events. Our results demonstrate that intensive care was provided to severe cases of PAD even during the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the unprecedented pressures on healthcare systems, patients with severe PAD, particularly those with CLTI, continued to receive necessary in-patient care. Objective: The study aimed to determine the nutritional status and its prognostic effect on the survival of patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer., Methods: A prospective cohort study design was conducted in a tertiary hospital in Shanghai, China. The study consisted of 202 advanced gastrointestinal (GI) cancer patients from a palliative care unit. The following data were collected from the patients: biochemical indicators, i.e., anemia (hemoglobin levels), albumin, pre-albumin, C-reactive protein (CRP), and anthropometric parameters, i.e., body mass index (BMI), nutritional status by Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA), and performance status by Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS). Severe malnutrition was confirmed with the PG-SGA score of ≥ 9. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and the log-rank test were used to calculate overall survival (OS). The effect of nutritional status on survival was performed by Cox regression analysis., Results: Severe malnutrition was found in 71.3% of patients according to the cutoff of the PG-SGA. PG-SGA score ≥ 9, albumin level < 35 g/L, and CRP level ≥ 10 mg/L predicted shortened life expectancy. Multivariate Cox regression analysis results showed that the PG-SGA score ≥ 9 and the albumin level < 35 g/L were predictive of OS., Conclusion: Our data support that severe malnutrition is a predictor for OS in patients with advanced GI cancer. Information on nutritional status should be considered to individualize palliative care plan for these patients, and hence improve their quality of life., (© 2024. Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia in patients with heart failure (HF). Epidemiological data regarding HF in patients with AF are lacking. We describe the epidemiology, clinical features, treatment strategies, and in-hospital outcomes in patients with AF and HF., Methods and Results: Patients with HF and nonvalvular AF in the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China-AF cohort from February 2015 to December 2019 were included. Patients were stratified by left ventricular ejection fraction into HF with reduced EF, HF with mildly reduced EF, and HF with preserved EF groups. The primary outcome was the occurrence of hospitalization for major adverse cardiovascular events, including death, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and stroke. Overall, 16 562 patients with AF and HF were included (mean age: 72.35±11.07 years; 46.1% female). HF with preserved EF (63.1%) accounted for the largest proportion, followed by HF with mildly reduced EF (19.0%) and HF with reduced EF (17.9%). Different HF subtypes in patients with AF had unique baseline demographic and clinical characteristics after multinomial logistic regression analysis. Compared with the HF with preserved EF group, hospitalization for major adverse cardiovascular events was increased in the HF with mildly reduced EF group (odds ratio=1.55 [95% CI, 1.18-2.03]) and HF with reduced EF group (odds ratio 1.60 [95% CI, 1.21-2.13]) after adjusting for confounders., Conclusions: In this large Chinese AF registry, the distribution of HF differed from the non-AF population. Patients with AF with different types of HF have unique demographic and clinical characteristics. Background: There have been few large-scale studies on the outcomes of cardiomyopathy-associated heart failure (HF) in infants aged <1 year. This study aimed to assess longitudinal echocardiographic outcomes of infants with HF secondary to cardiomyopathy who survived for >1 year., Methods and Results: A prospective observational study following 327 infant patients up to 5 years in 2 large pediatric heart centers in Northern China between January 2010 and December 2018. A total of 236 (72.2%) patients had reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (HF with reduced ejection fraction group; LVEF <40%), 91 (27.8%) patients had midrange LVEF (HF with midrange ejection fraction group; LVEF ≥40% but <55%). LVEF improved significantly within the first year and remained stable in years 2 through 5 for both groups. The HF with midrange ejection fraction group had a higher rate of LVEF normalization (hazard ratio, 1.65; P <0.001). Baseline LVEF ≥40%, baseline left ventricular end-diastolic diameter Z score <7.8, the absence of left bundle-branch block, and the absence of β-blocker use were 4 independent favorable predictors for future LVEF normalization. A total of 62.4% of enrolled patients were diagnosed with left ventricular noncompaction. No significant difference in LVEF normalization was found among the different types of cardiomyopathy studied., Conclusions: A significant number of infants with cardiomyopathy who survived >1 year were found to improve with medical therapies during the first year of diagnosis. Poorer outcomes were associated with decreased LVEF and increased heart size at diagnosis baseline, the presence of left bundle-branch block and use of β blockers. The Northern Chinese pediatric population may have a high proportion of left ventricular noncompaction.

Diarrhea is one of the major public health issues worldwide. Although the infections of individual enteric virus have been extensively studied, elucidation of the coinfection involving multiple viruses is still limited. In this study, we identified the coinfection of human adenovirus (HAdV) and human astrovirus (HAstV) in a child with acute gastroenteritis, analyzed their genotypes and molecular evolution characteristics. The sample was collected and identified using RT-PCR and subjected to whole-genome sequencing on the NovaSeq (Illumina) platform. Obtained sequences were assembled into the complete genome of HAdV and the ORF1 of HAstV. We conducted phylogenetic analysis using IQ-TREE software and conducted recombination analysis with the Recombination Detection Program. The sequenced HAdV was confirmed to be genotype 41, and was genetically close to some European strains. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the HAstV was genetically close to both HAstV-2 and HAstV-4 and was different from the genotype prevalent in Shenzhen before. The recombination analysis confirmed that the sequenced HAstV strain is a recombinant of HAstV-2 and HAstV-4. Our analysis has shown that the strains in this coinfection are both uncommon variants in this geographical region, instead of dominant subtypes that have prevailed for years. This study presents a coinfection of HAdV and HAstV and conducts an evolutionary analysis on involved viruses, which reveals the genetic diversity of epidemic strains in Southern China and offers valuable insights into vaccine and medical research., (© 2024 The Author(s). Background: Several previous cross-sectional studies suggested that body roundness index (BRI) may be associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, the association should be further validated. Our study aimed to assess the association of the BRI trajectories with CVD among middle-aged and older Chinese people in a longitudinal cohort., Methods and Results: A total of 9935 participants from the CHARLS (China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study) with repeated BRI measurements from 2011 to 2016 were included. The BRI trajectories were identified by group-based trajectory modeling. The primary outcome was incident CVD (stroke or cardiac events), which occurred in 2017 to 2020. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to examine the association of BRI trajectories with CVD risk. Participants were divided into 3 BRI trajectories, named the low-stable BRI trajectory, moderate-stable BRI trajectory and high-stable BRI trajectory, accounting for 49.81%, 42.35%, and 7.84% of the study population, respectively. Compared with participants in the low-stable BRI trajectory group, those in the moderate-stable and high-stable BRI trajectory groups had an increased risk of CVD, with multivariable adjusted hazard ratios of 1.22 (95% CI, 1.09-1.37) and 1.55 (95% CI, 1.26-1.90), respectively. Furthermore, simultaneously adding the BRI trajectory to the conventional risk model improved CVD risk reclassification (all P <0.05)., Conclusions: A higher BRI trajectory was associated with an increased risk of CVD. The BRI can be included as a predictive factor for CVD incidence.

The presence of pretreatment drug resistance (PDR) is posing an increasing threat to HIV control. Here we investigated drug resistance mutations (DRMs) and PDR among 6831 HIV-infected individuals from 2018 to 2022 in Guangzhou, China. DRMs were detected among 24.5% of the patients. The overall prevalence of PDR was 7.4%, with resistance rate to nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) being 1.3%, nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) 4.8%, and protease inhibitor (PI) 1.4%. Abacavir (0.8%) resistance was the most common in NRTI, followed by resistance to emtricitabine (0.6%), lamivudine (0.6%), and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (0.3%). In NNRTI, nevirapine (3.7%) resistance was the most common, followed by efavirenz (3.5%) and rilpivirine (3.4%). Among PI, resistance to tipranavir (0.8%), nelfinavir (0.6%), fosamprenavir (0.2%) and lopinavir (0.1%) was most frequent. Annual prevalence of PDR showed an increase trend from 2018 to 2022, although not significant. In the multivariable logistic regression model, hepatitis B surface antigen positivity, circulating recombinant form (CRF) 55&#95;01B, CRF08&#95;BC, CRF59&#95;01B, and subtype B were demonstrated as associated risk factors for PDR. The overall prevalence of PDR in Guangzhou was moderate, with relatively severe NNRTI resistance. Background: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and premature mortality compared to the general population., Objectives: This study aimed to investigate whether the excess risk of CVD events and death among patients with CKD could be reduced or eliminated through strict control of blood pressure (systolic blood pressure: <130 mm Hg), lipids (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol: <2.6 mmol/L), and glucose (fasting blood glucose: <6.1 mmol/L)., Methods: The authors included 20,254 patients with CKD who were free of CVD or end-stage renal disease and matched them with 35,236 control individuals based on age (±2 years) and sex from the Kailuan study., Results: During a median follow-up period of 12.2 to 12.8 years, 3,875 deaths, 1,888 cases of stroke, 513 cases of myocardial infarction, and 4,825 cases of CKD progression were documented. Among patients with CKD, risk factor controls showed an association with a reduction in myocardial infarction, stroke, CKD progression, and all-cause mortality risk in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, compared to the non-CKD control individuals, having all 3 risk factors within the target ranges could theoretically eliminate the excess risk of CVD and mortality associated with CKD. Among patients with CKD who had all 3 risk factors controlled, the HRs were 0.80 (95% CI: 0.56-1.14) for myocardial infarction, 0.93 (95% CI: 0.78-1.12) for stroke, and 1.10 (95% CI: 0.98-1.24) for all-cause mortality compared to the non-CKD control individuals., Conclusions: Patients with CKD who had controlled blood pressure, lipids, and glucose showed no excess risk of death, myocardial infarction, or stroke compared to the general population., Competing Interests: Funding Support and Author Disclosures This research was supported by a startup grant at Fudan University (JIF201047Y and JIF201036Y) and the key projects in the 3-year plan of Shanghai municipal public health system (2023-2025) (GWVI-4).
