"The Governor and the 2007 Legislature established state general funds for Children's Advocacy Centers. The following information defines eligibility and accountability criteria and sets forth requirements for application and administration of the grant awarded from the State Children's Advocacy Centers Grant Program (CAC). The purpose of this grant program is to initiate, enhance, or expand grant projects that establish comprehensive Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs). CACs are child-focused, community-oriented programs that coordinate investigation and intervention services for abused children by bringing together professionals and agencies in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary model. Using a team approach, professionals meet, discuss and make decisions about investigation, treatment and prosecution of child abuse cases. CACs provide a safe, neutral environment for children to disclose the details of their abuse. This unique model of collaboration is designed to ensure children are not re-victimized by the very system designed to protect them and to bring greater accountability to the "system.""
