The induction of green globular bodies (GGBs) represents an unique phenomenon in the tissue culture of pteridophytes. In this first attempt study GGBs were induced with the embryos of Adiantum reniforme var. sinense. The influences of basal salts, plant growth regulators, sugar concentrations, and gelling agents on the proliferation and differentiation of GGBs were examined. The highest induction rate of GGBs resulted from Murashige & Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with benzyl aminopurine (BA) (0.1 mg L−1) and 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) (0.15 mg L−1). The subsequent proliferation of GGBs required a higher concentration of NAA (10 mg L−1) to have the highest fresh weight of 0.29 g. However, cytokinins, such as BA, kinetin (KT), and thidiazuron (TDZ), exhibited inhibitory effects on GGB proliferation. Hyponex was superior to MS medium in terms of GGBs proliferation and differentiation, which led to the highest fresh weight (1.72±0.63 g) and shoot number (7.25±1.89) after 60 days of cultivation. Among different sucrose concentration in media, GGBs cultured with 15 g L−1 sucrose had the highest fresh weight (1.01 g). Gelling agents also showed evident effects on the proliferation of GGBs, and the fresh weight of GGBs cultured in gelrite medium was approximately three times greater than that of GGBs cultured in agar medium. Distinct histological characteristics of embryos and GGBs were revealed by paraffin sections. All regenerates from GGBs survived in the greenhouse, with normal appearances, after acclimation in the medium of peat soil and pearlite (1:1).

This study evaluated the antioxidant capacity of Ricinus communis L. (RC) leaves and powder when used as a feed additive for laying hens. Results showed that the total phenolic content of the aqueous leaf extract of Ricinus communis L. (RCE) was 48.39 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE) per gram dry weight (DW). The flavonoid content was 9.76 mg quercetin dihydrate equivalent (QE)/g DW. Ferrous chelating activity was approximately 56.2% with an RCE concentration of 1 mg/mL; the highest chelating activity was 91.2% with 4 mg/mL extract. The reducing power of 1 mg/mL RC was 1.17 times better than 1 mg/mL butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). The Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) value of 12.5 mg/mL RCE was equivalent to 3.09 mg/mL Trolox. RCE (10 mg/mL) had a lipid oxidative inhibition capacity of 35.3%. A total of 80 ISA brown laying hens at twenty-nine weeks of age were randomly allocated into the control or 1 of 3 treatment groups; the latter received 0.5%, 1% or 2% of RC, respectively, for 12 weeks. Results showed that the RC supplementation improved the feed conversion rate and 0.5% RC generated the best results. Additionally, the egg yolk score was significantly increased in all RC-supplemented groups. Moreover, there was no significant difference in serum characteristics between the treatment groups. Serum antioxidant enzyme activity showed that superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity increased in the RC-supplemented groups relative to the control but was not significantly different. mRNA expression levels of the antioxidant regulatory genes GCLC, GST, HO-1, SOD1, and SOD2 were significantly increased with 2% RC supplementation. In summary, RC is a suitable feed additive for laying hens and the addition of 0.5% RC leaf powder resulted in the greatest benefits.

With the development of the concept of Industry 4.0, research relating to robots is being paid more and more attention, among which the humanoid robot is a very important research topic. The humanoid robot is a robot with a bipedal mechanism. Due to the physical mechanism, humanoid robots can maneuver more easily in complex terrains, such as going up and down the stairs. However, humanoid robots often fall from imbalance. Whether or not the robot can stand up on its own after a fall is a key research issue. However, the often used method of hand tuning to allow robots to stand on its own is very inefficient. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes an automatic learning system based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). This system allows the robot to learn how to achieve the motion of rebalancing after a fall. To allow the robot to have the capability of object recognition, this paper also applies the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to let the robot perform image recognition and successfully distinguish between 10 types of objects. The effectiveness and feasibility of the motion learning algorithm and the CNN based image classification for vision system proposed in this paper has been confirmed in the experimental results.

By using a quantitative approach, this study examines the applicability of data mining technique to discover knowledge from open data related to Taiwan's dengue epidemic. We compare results when Google trend data are included or excluded. Data sources are government open data, climate data, and Google trend data. Research findings from analysis of 70,914 cases are obtained. Location and time (month) in open data show the highest classification power followed by climate variables (temperature and humidity), whereas gender and age show the lowest values. Both prediction accuracy and simplicity decrease when Google trends are considered (respectively 0.94 and 0.37, compared to 0.96 and 0.46). The article demonstrates the value of open data mining in the context of public health care.

Purpose This paper aims to examine the role of the creation task–technology fit (CTTF) in the knowledge creation performance (KCP). The creation task features represented by goal-driven, goal-free and goal-frame modes (GDM, GFM and GRM) and information and communication technology (ICT) supportive features are considered. The moderation effect of cognitive style represented by analytical and intuitive styles is explored. Contributions and implications are addressed. Design/methodology/approach The literature review on creation task, ICT, cognitive behavior and fit theory, and the research gap with respect to the antecedents of KCP are presented. The research arguments are then hypothesized and the research model developed to describe that the proposed role is examined empirically. Findings Research findings are obtained on the basis of the data analysis of 258 valid subjects from research institutes as well as manufacturing and service industries. The effect of CTTF on creation outcomes is significantly confirmed. The ICT supportive functions are unlikely significantly related to CTTF for the analysis-styled group, but the intuition-styled group shows a likely significance because of the different means of dealing with information and knowledge processing. The analysis-styled group disagrees with the significant link of the GDM with CTTF, whereas the intuition-styled group presents the significant effects of GDM, GFM and GRM on CTTF. Originality/value The unique features of knowledge creation differentiate it from other tasks. With respect to whether the knowledge creation task presented by goal is defined or not, and how ICT better suits the creation task features to benefit the creation outcomes are yet to be discussed. The individual cognitive style is confirmed to alternate the effect of ICT and GDM on CTTF in the proposed model. The research findings are particularly obvious because a transition gap, less covered by the literature, might exist with regard to the perception connection of knowledge creation service providers, agencies, consultants and context creators.

In this paper, the impact of width quantization on device characteristic and stressing induced device degradation for high-k/metal tri-gate n/p-type FinFET was investigated well including electrical characteristic clarification and simulation. Carrier conduction in the trapezoidal shape Si-fin body of FinFETs is different for devices with different Fin bottom widths ( ${W} _{\mathbf {Fin\_{}bottom}}$ ), which will impact the device performance and reliability. For n-type FinFETs, the experimental results show that the thinner ${W} _{\mathbf {Fin\_{}bottom}}$ device performs better reliability under HCI stress due to higher inversion carrier density at the center of Si-fin channel. For p-type FinFETs under negative bias stressing, the thinner ${W} _{\mathbf {Fin\_{}bottom}}$ device shows more serious degradation on drain current ( ${I} _{\mathbf {D}}$ ) and subthreshold swing (SS) with the increasing of stressing voltage due to larger electric field within the Si-fin and higher energy of inversion holes, while the thicker ${W} _{\mathbf {Fin\_{}bottom}}$ device shows almost insensitively degradation with the variation of stressing voltage.

In this paper, the impact of fin number on device performance and hot carrier induced device degradation was investigated for n-channel tri-gate multi-fin FinFET with different fin numbers. The threshold voltage (VTH) shift, transconductance, and subthreshold swing degradation were extracted to determine the degradation of device. It was found that the device with fewer fins shows better device performance, but suffer from more serious hot carrier induced device degradation. It is suggested that the existed coupling effect between the fins reduces the equivalent electric field in the multi-fins devices, thus shows better reliability than the single-fin device does after hot carrier stress.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the growth performance and intestinal microflora population of broilers fed diets with aged brown rice (ABR) that had been stored for 3 years. The ABR was the material chosen to analyse the grain quality, which included the physical properties as well as nutrient analysis to evaluate its applicability in broiler diet. The germination rate, pH value, whiteness value of grains and fatty acid content of aged rice are significantly reduced during storage (P0.05). A total of five hundred 1-day-old broilers (Ross 308) were evenly divided by gender and randomly allocated into 5 groups (with 4 replicates of 25 birds), including: 1) control (corn-soybean meal), 2) 25% of corn replaced with 25% of ABR (ABR 25), 3) 50% of corn replaced with 50% of ABR (ABR 50), 4) 75% of corn replaced with 75% of ABR (ABR 75), 5) 100% of ABR replaced with yellow corn (ABR 100), respectively, in order to evaluate growth performance as well as intestinal microflora population of broilers fed ABR. The diets were formulated to contain similar levels of the main nutrient requirements of broilers. The results indicated that the replacement of ABR for corn in feed had no significant impact on the growth traits of broilers (P>0.05). The pH value of ileal digesta decreased as the replacement of ABR increased at the age of 21 days (P0.05). In conclusion, this study found that ABR may replace 100% of yellow corn and did not influence growth performance of broilers, thus providing an alternative for the use of stored rice in broiler diets.

This study introduces the use of fuzzy neural networks with intent to clearly visualize the advantages of the approach. Particle swarm optimization as the underlying optimization tool is discussed. Different models of fuzzy neural networks can be envisioned. It is worth stressing that the underlying concept is general enough and any other formalism of information granules could be considered as well. Over the past decades, the Chinese market has developed rapidly, especially on intelligent robot interaction and even tension leg platform. Consequently, Chinese learning has increased. E-learning has also become another learning mechanism and is already quite popular. In the study, optical character recognition software is developed in the android phone system. A questionnaire is designed as a base technology acceptance model, and, according to the dimensions, to make assumptions. Using a structural equation model analysis framework to analyze the recovery over the questionnaire, the conclusion of this study and the possible direction of future research are finally arrived at.

In 2013 the Editor of Journal of Vibration and Control and SAGE became aware of a peer review ring involving assumed and fabricated identities that appeared to centre around Peter Chen at National Pingtung University of Education, Taiwan (NPUE). SAGE and the Editor then began a complex investigation into the case during the rest of 2013 and 2014. Following an unsatisfactory response from Peter Chen, NPUE was notified. In 2013 the Editor of Journal of Vibration and Control and SAGE became aware of a peer review ring involving assumed and fabricated identities that appeared to centre around Peter Chen at National Pingtung University of Education, Taiwan (NPUE). SAGE and the Editor then began a complex investigation into the case during the rest of 2013 and 2014. Following an unsatisfactory response from Peter Chen, NPUE was notified. NPUE were serious in addressing the Journal and SAGE’s concerns. NPUE confirmed that the institution was investigating Peter Chen. SAGE subsequently uncovered a citation ring involving the above mentioned author and others. We regret that individual authors have compromised the academic record by perverting the peer review process and apologise to readers. On uncovering problems with peer review and citation SAGE immediately put steps in place to avoid similar vulnerability of the Journal to exploitation in the future. In 2013 the Editor of Journal of Vibration and Control and SAGE became aware of a peer review ring involving assumed and fabricated identities that appeared to centre around Peter Chen at National Pingtung University of Education, Taiwan (NPUE). SAGE and the Editor then began a complex investigation into the case during the rest of 2013 and 2014. Following an unsatisfactory response from Peter Chen, NPUE was notified. NPUE were serious in addressing the Journal and SAGE’s concerns. NPUE confirmed that the institution was investigating Peter Chen. SAGE subsequently uncovered a citation ring involving the above mentioned author and others. We regret that individual authors have compromised the academic record by perverting the peer review process and apologise to readers. On uncovering problems with peer review and citation SAGE immediately put steps in place to avoid similar vulnerability of the Journal to exploitation in the future. In 2013 the Editor of Journal of Vibration and Control and SAGE became aware of a peer review ring involving assumed and fabricated identities that appeared to centre around Peter Chen at National Pingtung University of Education, Taiwan (NPUE). SAGE and the Editor then began a complex investigation into the case during the rest of 2013 and 2014. Following an unsatisfactory response from Peter Chen, NPUE was notified. NPUE were serious in addressing the Journal and SAGE’s concerns. NPUE confirmed that the institution was investigating Peter Chen. SAGE subsequently uncovered a citation ring involving the above mentioned author and others. We regret that individual authors have compromised the academic record by perverting the peer review process and apologise to readers. On uncovering problems with peer review and citation SAGE immediately put steps in place to avoid similar vulnerability of the Journal to exploitation in the future. This work presents a thermal analysis on predicting the temperature increase and the voltage response of high- T c superconducting bolometers. To consider the thermal boundary resistance between film and substrate, an acoustic mismatch model (AMM), a diffusive mismatch model (DMM), and an interfacial layer model (ILM) are employed. The thermal boundary resistance significantly influences the voltage response. Additionally, several common substrates are examined. SrTiO 3 (100) or LaAlO 3 (100) is a better substrate for high- T c superconducting bolometers. Furthermore, we demonstrated that there are several factors to affect the voltage response, such as the pulse duration for a constant total incident energy or a fixed highest incident heat flux, the pulse distribution function in time, optical penetration depth, the thermal conductivities of the film and substrate, initial operating temperature, thickness ratio, and the amount of incident heat flux. One interesting finding was that when compared with experimental data, all the theoretical values from the present study as well as the other previously theoretical treatment overestimate the voltage response near the transition temperature.

Although there have been lots studies about vehicular maneuvers on land or sea, maneuvers within a small area that require direction changes have rarely been discussed. Many reports on the arrival or departure of ships from ports have revealed more about what are safe and effective turning maneuvers within a narrow area. Convenient navigation systems for ship maneuvering should allow quick avoidance of obstacle to find the shortest distance in the whole seaway is important. This study proposes a review model that will satisfy optimal turning maneuvering anywhere and be applicable to any type of ship. However, the water-based environment is more complex and there are many factors that will affect the formula. By using a nonlinear unified state-space model to discuss another model we can divide and conquer the problem. In recent studies some categories have been evaluated to determine where the main attention should be directed. In this review study we look at how to construct the optimal turning maneuver within a limited sea area.

In this paper, a simple path correction and obstacle avoidance method with a bipedal robot for the learning stratification and performance, using an ultrasonic sensor and electronic compass sensor, is proposed. This bipedal robot was comprised using the Lego NXT Intelligent Bricks. The proposed method is implemented on an autonomous humanoid robot (the ARSR). One ultrasonic sensor and one electronic compass sensor are installed on the ARSR to detect environmental information including obstacles, the distance to the obstacle, and the directional angle of the robot. Based on the obtained information, an obstacle avoidance and path correct method is proposed to decide the ARSR's behavior so that it can avoid obstacles and move effectively to the destination area. Obstacle avoidance experiments are carried out to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method and confirm the learning stratification and performance.

An appropriate lesson plan is important in teaching and learning. A traditional lesson plan is constructed manually by a teacher with great efforts and difficult to be generated automatically. In this research, we proposed an intelligent agent system able to recommend a personalized lesson plan by using methods in constraint satisfaction problems and negotiation. The constraints consist of teaching goals, teaching time, student abilities, classroom resources and teacher's preference, whereas the recommendation by negotiation system can assist a teacher user to find the coordinated solution under minimum constraint relaxation when no exact solution can be found.

In this study, we decompose the maneuver procedure into several operations, then establish an operational model, simplifying the behaviors of rudders and thrusters that operate the turning maneuver, ignoring the environmental factors. This proposed model is a unified model that can be applied to all types of ships, regardless of individual characteristics. Each operation is defined as an isolated procedure that has its own effect on the maneuver behavior and the whole maneuver procedure can be treated as a combination of these operations. A case study using this model to construct the optimal turning maneuver within a limited sea area is also provided.

The radio processor (RP) is a heterogeneous configurable computing subsystem, which is designed to perform layer 1 functions within different communication systems. The features of radio processor include (1) heterogeneous configurable architecture, (2) scalable infrastructure with unified design environment, (3) customizable design, (4) flexible instruction set, and (5) limited main-processor resource requirement.
