3. SN-Graph: a Minimalist 3D Object Representation for Classification

Abstract

Using deep learning techniques to process 3D objects has achieved many successes. However, few methods focus on the representation of 3D objects, which could be more effective for specific tasks than traditional representations, such as point clouds, voxels, and multi-view images. In this paper, we propose a Sphere Node Graph (SN-Graph) to represent 3D objects. Specifically, we extract a certain number of internal spheres (as nodes) from the signed distance field (SDF), and then establish connections (as edges) among the sphere nodes to construct a graph, which is seamlessly suitable for 3D analysis using graph neural network (GNN). Experiments conducted on the ModelNet40 dataset show that when there are fewer nodes in the graph or the tested objects are rotated arbitrarily, the classification accuracy of SN-Graph is significantly higher than the state-of-the-art methods., Comment: ICME 2021

Abstract

A KRM-based dialogue management (DM) is proposed using to implement human-computer dialogue system in complex scenarios. KRM-based DM has a well description ability and it can ensure the logic of the dialogue process. Then a complex application scenario in the Internet of Things (IOT) industry and a dialogue system implemented based on the KRM-based DM will be introduced, where the system allows enterprise customers to customize topics and adapts corresponding topics in the interaction process with users. Abstract

Urea oxidation reaction (UOR) can be used as the anode reaction of urea direct fuel cells and for the treatment of urea-containing wastewater. However, to improve the kinetics of the UOR, the development of efficient and cheap catalysts is a key problem to be solved. In this study, mesoporous catalysts (NiO–CrO@N–C) of amorphous NiO and CrO nanoparticles anchored in nitrogen-doped carbon (N–C) were prepared using a sol–gel combined with self-propagating combustion method. Electrochemical tests show that the optimal NiO–CrO@N–C sample has excellent performance against the UOR, that is, the driving voltage is only 1.37 V vs. RHE at a current density (j) of 10 mA cm−2. After 8 h long-term CA testing, the j retention rate is 83% relative to the initial value. The excellent performance of the as-prepared sample is mainly due the strong electron interaction between Cr and Ni atoms, which is conducive to the formation of Ni3+, its mesoporous structure, which is helpful for electron transport and electrolyte diffusion, and its amorphous structure, which provides more UOR active sites. Abstract

Summary: The onset of leaf de‐greening and senescence is governed by a complex regulatory network including environmental cues and internal factors such as transcription factors (TFs) and phytohormones, in which ethylene (ET) is one key inducer. However, the detailed mechanism of ET signalling for senescence regulation is still largely unknown.Here, we found that the WRKY TF SbWRKY50 from Sorghum bicolor L., a direct target of the key component ETHYLENE INSENSITIVE 3 in ET signalling, functioned for leaf senescence repression. The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR‐associated protein9‐edited SbWRKY50 mutant (SbWRKY5O‐KO) of sorghum displayed precocious senescent phenotypes, while SbWRKY50 overexpression delayed age‐dependent and dark‐induced senescence in sorghum.SbWRKY50 negatively regulated chlorophyll degradation through direct binding to the promoters of several chlorophyll catabolic genes. In addition, SbWRKY50 recruited the Polycomb repressive complex 1 through direct interaction with SbBMI1A, to induce histone 2A mono‐ubiquitination accumulation on the chlorophyll catabolic genes for epigenetic silencing and thus delayed leaf senescence. Especially, SbWRKY50 can suppress early steps of chlorophyll catabolic pathway via directly repressing SbNYC1 (NON‐YELLOW COLORING 1). Other senescence‐related hormones could also influence leaf senescence through repression of SbWRKY50.Hence, our work shows that SbWRKY50 is an essential regulator downstream of ET and SbWRKY50 also responds to other phytohormones for senescence regulation in sorghum. 33. Computation Offloading Outage Probability Analysis and Min-Max Fairness Optimization in RIS-Assisted MEC System

Abstract

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is able to enhance the wireless channels, and further improve the performance in terms of outage in the mobile edge computing (MEC) system. Taking the computation offloading outage probability (COOP) as the metric, we investigate the coverage performance of the RIS-assisted MEC system. Specifically, we first obtain the closed-form expression of the COOP. Then we derive an asymptotic COOP expression at the high transmit power region and minimize the COOP in the single-smart device (SD) scenario. Finally, aiming at ensuring fairness among SDs in the multi-SD scenario, we propose an alternating optimization-based COOP min-max fairness (AOCMMF) algorithm to obtain the suboptimal solution of the nonconvex min-max problem. The simulation results verify that our closed-form and asymptotic expressions depict the COOP correctly. The proposed AOCMMF scheme can reduce the maximum COOP by 42.23% compared with the equal edge computing resource scheme, and the min-max fairness among SDs is realized.

Abstract

Poly (aryl ether ketone) polymers (PAEKS) were synthesized by polycondensation of trimethyl hydroquinone, allyl bisphenol S and 4,4-difluorodiphenyl ketone as monomers. A series of uncrosslinked and crosslinked anion exchange membranes (AEMs) with diverse contents of 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride and 1-vinylimidazole were prepared by grafting and bromination reaction. The 1-vinylimidazole in the AEMs was simultaneously present as a crosslinked agent. 1HNMR and FT-IR spectra demonstrated the structure of the above PAEKS and AEMs, respectively. TEM images and SAXS profiles showed the formation of distinct hydrophilic/hydrophobic microphase separation in the TCImP membranes, which offered vast of channels for ion transmission. Among them, TCImP-3 membrane showed the highest hydroxide conductivity of 0.144 S/cm at 80 °C. Compared with the uncrosslinked AEMs, the crosslinked AEMs exhibited slightly lower water uptake and swelling ratio. The crosslinked structures in the AEMs were helpful to improve the mechanical property and alkali-resistant stability of AEMs. The hydroxide conductivity of the TCImP-3 membrane kept 0.117 S/cm in 2 M NaOH solutions at 80 °C for 400 h. Meanwhile, crosslinked AEMs showed excellent thermostability. We believe that TCImP membranes are a promising AEMs material.

43. Amine-functionalized MOF@GO as filler in PAEK-COOH membrane for ultrafiltration with ultra-high permeability and strong fouling resistance

Abstract

Achieving high fouling resistance and permeability using membrane separation technology in water treatment processes remains a challenge. In this work, a novel mixed matrix membrane (PAEK-COOH/UiO-66-NH2@GO) with superb fouling resistance and high permeability was prepared by the nonsolvent induced phase separation method, by in-situgrowth of UiO-66-NH2on graphene oxide (GO) layer, and by preparing hydrophilic poly(arylene ether ketone) (PAEK) containing carboxyl groups (PAEK-COOH). On the basis of the structure and performance analysis of the mixed matrix membrane (MMMs), the maximum water flux reached 591.25 L·m–2·h–1for PAEK-COOH/UiO-66-NH2@GO, while the retention rate for bovine serum albumin increased from 85.40% to 94.87%. As the loading gradually increased, the hydrophilicity of the MMMs increased, significantly enhancing their fouling resistance. The strongest anti-fouling ability observed was 94.74%, which was 2.02 times greater than that of the pure membrane. At the same time, the MMMs contained internal amide and hydrogen bonds during the preparation process, forming a cross-linked structure, which further enhanced the mechanical strength and chemical stability. In summary, the MMMs with high retention rate, strong permeability, and anti-fouling ability were successfully prepared.

Abstract

We have measured the valence-band photoemission and inverse photoemission spectra of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with mean radii of 0.7 and 0.64 nm encapsulating C60 fullerenes (peas), so-called "peapods." The photoemission spectrum of the C60 peas in the SWNTs is obtained by subtracting the spectrum of empty SWNTs from the spectrum of the peapod. The structures in the C60 pea spectra correspond well to those in the spectrum of a C60 face-centered-cubic solid. No structure is observed at binding energies ranging from the Fermi level (EF) to the onset of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) peak; the t1u level of the C60 peas inside the SWNT stays above EF.
