The second enlarged session of the Scientific Council on Problems of Price Formation met at the end of March 1963. It was attended by over 400 representatives of various institutions working on problems of price formation, including institutes, departments and branches of the USSR Academy of Sciences, central economic research and branch institutes, universities, the USSR State Planning Committee, state planning committees of union republics, economic councils, etc. Problems of determining the useful properties of goods, the relationship between demand and supply, natural and geographic factors in price formation, as well as the use of mathematical methods in the solution of general problems of price formation, were discussed. A comprehensive investigation was undertaken to find evidence of the frequently reported, but never authenticated, "purchase of 150 inmates" from Auschwitz concentration camp by Bayer to test a new narcotic, resulting in the death of all investigated inmates. The archives of Auschwitz camp, Bayer, and the so-called former Soviet Union, where evidence of this alleged misconduct could have been saved, were investigated, but no evidence was found. Many records concerning concentration camp experiments on humans had been destroyed, but given the Nazis' meticulous record-keeping, the death of 150 inmates should have been recorded somewhere. Unethical medical research was indeed undertaken by physicians in concentration camps in many medical specialties, but no records regarding anesthesia-related medical misconduct during the Nazi period were found despite the allegations to the contrary that have been investigated here., (Copyright © 2019. The method of the quantitative determination of ampicillin in the blood serum and urine on the Soviet-made chromatograph "Milichrom" with an ultraviolet detector and 2 x 62 cm column is described. The conditions of chromatography were as follows: wavelength-210 nm; elution rate-100 microliters/min; analysis time-12 min. The conditions of chromatographic analysis were selected on sorbents Lichrosorb RP-18, Nucleosil S-18 and Silosorb S-18. The given method of ampicillin determination--is characterized by a high specificity, accuracy, the use of small volumes of the blood taken from a finger, the rapidity of making analyses and may be recommended for introduction in the clinical practice for optimization of treating patients with ampicillin.

Results of transbronchial pulmonary biopsy studies of patients of different sex and age suffering from interstitial pulmonary lesion are presented. Different diagnostic value of transbronchial pulmonary biopsy (TBBP) is shown in relation to different lesions. In case of sarcoidosis its informative value, for example, is high, while in the diffuse processes such as cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis, the data allow only suggestive diagnosis and recommendation of an open lung biopsy. In chronic nonspecific pulmonary diseases TBBP helps to clarify the character and the activity of the process involved. In some cases it is possible to reveal a latent cancer. It is suggested to use the term "allergic alveolitis" (indicating the mechanism of development of changes mentioned) when such changes as alveolitis, small granulemas and intraalveolar outgrowths are found in the biopsy specimens.
