International audience; An ammonite biostratigraphy for Oxfordian in the Tlemcenian domain (northwestern Algeria) belonging to the south Tethyan margin is presented. It is based on the study of many sections located near Takhemaret and Frenda cities (Province of Tiaret). From bottom to top, the following biozones and subzones are distinguished: (i) Liosphinctes plicatilis Zone subdivided into the Cardioceras vertebrale (including the Otosphinctes arkelli Horizon) and Dichotomosphinctes antecedens subzone (including the Dichotomosphinctes antecedens Horizon); (ii) Gregoryceras transversarium Zone subdivided into four subzones: Perisphinctes parandieri, Dichotomosphinctes luciaeformis (its presence is doubtful), Larcheria schilli and Dichotomoceras rotoides subzones; (iii) Dichotomoceras bifurcatus Zone subdivided into two subzones: Dichotomoceras stenocycloides Subzone including the Dichotomoceras bifurcatoides Horizon, and the Dichotomoceras grossouvrei Subzone. The obtained results are compared and completed with those of Bou Rheddou and Bechtout (northern Tiaret city). The recorded biozones are very similar to the standard biozonation of the Upper Jurassic recognized throughout the Mediterranean region.

The aim of this study was to assess the pattern of antibiotic consumption in Sahloul University hospital and to identify areas for improvement in the responsible use of antibiotics. The study was conducted over a four-years period and involved a retrospective analysis of the hospital’s electronic medical records. The results showed that the most commonly prescribed antibiotics were broad-spectrum agents, particularly cephalosporins and fluoroquinolones. Antibiotic consumption was highest in the surgical and intensive care units. The study also identified a high rate of prescription of antibiotics for viral infections, despite guidelines recommending against their use for such conditions. The findings of this study highlight the need for improved antibiotic stewardship programs in the hospital to reduce the unnecessary use of antibiotics and minimize the emergence of antibiotic resistance.

International audience; Une nouvelle biozonation par ammonites a été menée sur l’Oxfordien du domaine tlemcénien (Nord-ouest algérien), faisant partie la marge sud téthysienne. La présente étude est basée sur six coupes réparties dans la région de Takhemaret-Frenda (Wilaya de Tiaret). Les biozones suivantes ont été définies : Zone à Plicatilis subdivisée en deux Sous-zones: Sous-zone à Vertebrale (incluant biohrizon à Arkelli) et Sous-zone à Antecedens (incluant biohorizon à Antecedens); Zone à Transversarium subdivisée en quatre Sous-zones: Sous-zone à Parandieri (avec la présence du biohorizon à Parandieri), Sous-zone à Luciaeformis (sa présence n’est pas encore confirmée); Schilli et Rotoides; Zone à Bifurcatus subdivisée en deux Sous-zones: Sous-zones à Sténocycloides (comportant biohorizon à Bifurcatoides); et Grossouvrei. Les biozones enregistrées sont très similaires à la biozonation de l’échelle standard du Jurassique supérieur reconnue à travers les régions méditerranéennes.

Shallow marine deposits characterize the upper Albian – lower Cenomanian deposits of Northern Algeria. In Djebel Azzeddine (Ouled Nail Mounts), the corresponding sediments have been subdivided into three distinctive units A to C. The first discovered ammonite fauna from the Bou Saada area allowed the attribution of a part of the mid-Cretaceous post-Continental Intercalaire deposits to the upper Albian. The ammonite-bearing level indicates a maximum flooding surface and could be correlated with similar levels from Northern Algeria. The studied succession is characterized by a low ichnodiversity containing eight ichnotaxa with abundant Thalassinoides, common Skolithos, and rare Gyrolithes, Oichnus, Planolites and cf. Tisoa. This ichnoassemblage is dominated by domichnion, fodinichnion and praedichnion trace fossils, and is attributed to the Skolithos and Glossifungites ichnofacies. These traces are produced mainly by decapod crustaceans, polychaetes and naticid gastropods. The sedimentological and ichnological data suggest shoreface to backshore environments with mixed tide/storm energy, and long subaerial exposures indicated by Lofer cyclothems in the lowermost part and dinosaur footprints in the upper part of the section.

Lithostratigraphy and palaeoenvironments of Messinian deposits of the north eastern termination of Ouled Ali Mounts (Lower Chelif basin, NW Algeria).- Lithostratigraphic description and palaeoenvironmental study of Messinian outcrops located on the southern edge of the Lower Chelif basin (NW Algeria) are described in the present paper. The study is based on the analysis of geological sections situated on the south and the northernmost terminations of Djebel Aoud Sma in Sig area. In this study, three main lithostratigraphic formations are identified and interpreted on the environmental plan : (i) Greyish marls, attributed to the Messinian and deposited in an outer shelf ; (ii) Diatomites, characterized by pure and marly diatomites deposited in a shallow marine setting ; (iii) Limestones, corresponding to reefal and peri-reefal limestones, subdivided into five distinct facies. Also, Halimeda-rich facies has been recorded in the Haoudh el Matmar. This facies is well known in the Messinian west Mediterranean carbonate platforms, and indicates important environmental changes. It is considered as an index level which allows correlating the Tessala-Beni Chougrane platform with the other Messinian carbonate platforms of the Mediterranean.

L’objet de cette note est de réviser l’âge et l’interprétation des termes détritiques qui jalonnent la série crétacée dans la région de Béchar (Bassin du Guir Algérie). Appelés systématiquement « Continental intercalaire » ceux ci sont attribués à l’Infracénomanien sans arguments paléontologiques et considérés comme faciès d’origine fluviatile par de précédents auteurs. La présence de vertébrés tels que Spinosaurus aegyptiacus Onchopristis numidus Neoceratodus africanus cf. Bawitius Lepidotes sp. crocodiliens et chéloniens a permis d’attribuer ces niveaux détritiques au Cénomanien inférieur. Cette étude basée sur les faciès et les ichnofaciès suggère que cet épandage détritique s’est principalement déposé dans un milieu de plate forme détritique littorale soumise à une influence des marées ou même des tempêtes. Cet environnement sédimentaire s’exprimerait par une association de traces fossiles comprenant Skolithos Altichnus Monocraterion Thalassinoides et Arenicolites. La dynamique tidale est attestée par la fréquence des surfaces de réactivation des structures de drapage argileux des mégarides des rides de courant des stratifications entrecroisées en arêtes de poisson et des fentes de synérèse. L’influence des tempêtes est attestée par la présence de plusieurs niveaux gréseux à laminations entrecroisées en mamelon (hummocky cross stratification).

International audience; The study area is located in the outskirt to the Takhemaretvillage, constituting part of the Saïda Mountains, eastern segment of the tlemcenian domain (northwest Algeria). In thisarea, the “Argiles de Saïda” Formation is subdivided into three lithostratigraphic units : the lower clay-sandstone unit,the clay-carbonate unit and the upper clay-sandstone unit. They were previously assigned to the Callovian-Oxfordian.However, the newly discovered ammonites assign the “Argiles de Saïda” Formation to the Middle (TransversariumBiozone)-Upper (Bifurcatus Biozone) Oxfordian. Ichnofacies and sedimentary facies analyses indicate a shallow detritalor carbonate platform depositional environment, with combined hydrodynamic influence (tides, swells, strong waves) andexceptional strong currents (gravity currents and storms).; La région d’étude se localise aux environs du village de Takhemaret, dans les Monts de Saïda, segment oriental dudomaine tlemcenien (nord-ouest algérien). Dans cette région, la Formation des Argiles de Saïda a été subdivisée en troisunités lithostratigraphiques, respectivement argilo-gréseuse inférieure, argilo-carbonatée et argilo-gréseuse supérieure.Ces unités ont été attribuées au Callovo-Oxfordien. Cependant, de nouvelles récoltes d’ammonites permettent à présentde les attribuer à l’Oxfordien moyen (Zone à Transversarium) et supérieur (Zone à Bifurcatus). L’analyse des ichnofacièset des faciès sédimentaires témoigne d’un milieu de plateforme peu profonde, détritique ou carbonatée, à influencehydrodynamique (marées, houles, vagues fortes) combinée à des courants forts exceptionnels (courants gravitaires,tempêtes).
