TaD11-2A affects grain size and root length and its natural variations are associated with significant differences in yield-related traits in wheat. Brassinosteroids (BRs) control many important agronomic traits and therefore the manipulation of BR components could improve crop productivity and performance. However, the potential effects of BR-related genes on yield-related traits and stress tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) remain poorly understood. Here, we identified TaD11 genes in wheat (rice D11 orthologs) that encoded enzymes involved in BR biosynthesis. TaD11 genes were highly expressed in roots (Zadoks scale: Z11) and grains (Z75), while expression was significantly suppressed by exogenous BR (24-epiBL). Ectopic expression of TaD11-2A rescued the abnormal panicle structure and plant height (PH) of the clustered primary branch 1 (cpb1) mutant, and also increased endogenous BR levels, resulting in improved grain yields and grain quality in rice. The tad11-2a-1 mutant displayed dwarfism, smaller grains, sensitivity to 24-epiBL, and reduced endogenous BR contents. Natural variations in TaD11-2A were associated with significant differences in yield-related traits, including PH, grain width, 1000-grain weight, and grain yield per plant, and its favorable haplotype, TaD11-2A-HapI was subjected to positive selection during wheat breeding. Additionally, TaD11-2A influenced root length and salt tolerance in rice and wheat at seedling stages. These results indicated the important role of BR TaD11 biosynthetic genes in controlling grain size and root length, and also highlighted their potential in the molecular biological analysis of wheat.

Changes in solution chemistry and transport conditions can lead to the release of deposited MnO2 nanoparticles from a solid interface, allowing them to re-enter the aqueous environment. Understanding the release behavior of MnO2 nanoparticles from naturally occurring surfaces is critical for better prediction of the transport potential and environmental fate of MnO2 nanoparticles. In this study, the release of MnO2 nanoparticles was investigated using a quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D), and different environmental surface types, solution pH values and representative macromolecular organics were considered. MnO2 nanoparticles were first deposited on crystal sensors at elevated NaNO3 concentrations before being rinsed with double-deionized water to induce their remobilization. The results reveal that the release rate of MnO2 depends on the surface type, in the decreasing order: SiO2 > Fe3O4 > Al2O3, resulting from electrostatic interactions between the surface and particles. Moreover, differences in solution pH can lead to variance in the release behavior of MnO2 nanoparticles. The release rate from surfaces was significantly higher at pH 9.8 that at 4.5, indicating that alkaline conditions were more favorable for the mobilization of MnO2 in the aquatic environment. In the presence of macromolecular organics, bovine serum albumin (BSA) can inhibit the release of MnO2 from the surfaces due to attractive forces. In presence of humic acid (HA) and sodium alginate (SA), the MnO2 nanoparticles were more likely to be mobile, which may be associated with a large repulsive barrier imparted by steric effects.

Phytoplankton assemblages were investigated in 2015 along the seasonal changes of the Genhe River in the Greater Hinggan Mountains. The survey was performed in June (spring), August (summer), and October (autumn) at nine sampling stations to study the community composition, abundance, and biodiversity. The results showed that 61 species belonging to 16 genera were identified, including Bacillariophyta of 31 species, Dinophyta 2 species, Cyanophyta 2 species, Chlorophyta 20 species, Chrysophyta 2 species, and Cryptophyta 1 species; Besides, Bacillariophyta are dominant species. Shannon-Wiener (H′) and Pielou (J′) indices indicated that phytoplankton community was stable. And these two indices were significantly lower in summer than in spring and autumn. Phytoplankton abundance and biomass show significant differences in each season. The total phytoplankton abundance (1122.3 × 104 ind/L) and biomass (6.5709 mg/L) in summer are much higher than that in spring and autumn. There were few species and low abundance and biomass in the upper reaches of Genhe River; this fact can be explained by the cold climate in the Greater Higgnan Mountains region. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) was used to analyze the data. It revealed that Fe3+, Cu2+, pH, and water temperature (WT) were responsible for most of the variation in space in the phytoplankton community. These environmental parameters play an essential role in the community structure variation of phytoplankton in the upper reaches of Genhe River, the strong association between phytoplankton community structure and ecological factors is varied in each season.

In this study, the concept of phytoplankton functional groups was used to assess phytoplankton community structure in an attempt to better understand their spatial and seasonal variation in extremely alkaline Dali Nur Lake. Samples were collected for analysis during spring, summer and autumn for a period of two years. We identified 13 phytoplankton functional groups (Lo, S1, H1, P, C, MP, X3, Y, X2, W1, J, F, and T) among 37 species out of which 7 groups Lo, H1, P, C, MP, X2, and F were dominant. The biomass of phytoplankton functional groups in the Lake exhibited a strong seasonal variation with the highest biomass value observed in autumn and lowest in spring. Functional groups MP, P, and C were dominant in spring when the temperatures were very low. Groups H1 and X2 were the dominant in summer corresponding to higher temperatures. In autumn groups Lo and X2 were the dominant corresponding to high levels of total phosphorus (TP). Our study revealed that alkalinity, pH, arsenic, chemical oxygen demand, and TP are the most important physical–chemical variables structuring the phytoplankton functional groups in Dali Nur Lake. Functional groups Lo and X2 were mainly influenced by TP while groups MP and P flourished better under high conditions of arsenic. This study reveals the importance of physical–chemical variables in the spatial and seasonal gradient, in structuring phytoplankton functional groups, and consequently in the assessment of environmental status of the lake.

In this study, the concept of functional traits was used to classify zooplankton into functional groups and their seasonal dynamics were determined in relation to physico-chemical factors in a highly turbid and nutrient-rich wetland. This study revealed a seasonal variation of both physico-chemical factors and biomass of zooplankton functional groups. Water temperature (TEP), total phosphorus (TP), ferrous ion (Fe2+) and total carbon (TC) were significantly higher in summer while water transparency (SD) was notably higher in spring. Zooplankton functional group biomass was higher in summer (5.11 mg/L) followed by winter, autumn and spring (0.91, 0.72 and 0.28 mg/L, respectively). Large copepods and cladoceran carnivore (LCC) was the dominant functional group in spring accounting for about 86.7% of the total biomass. In summer, MCF (Middle copepods and cladocerans filter feeders) was the dominant group probably because of the optimal temperature and availability of nutrients. Pearson correlation and RDA analysis results suggested that Fe2+, TP and TEP were the major factors influencing zooplankton functional groups. Notably, turbidity was not the main factor despite the fact that Small Xingkai Wetland Lake is a very turbid lake. The variation of zooplankton functional groups among seasons highlights the role of physico-chemical factors in structuring zooplankton composition.

Ion specific effects have been proved to be an important factor controlling the stability and dynamics of engineered colloidal systems; however, there has been limited research on the ion specific effects on the transport behaviors of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs). In the present study, the initial deposition kinetics of fullerene (C60) and ceria (CeO2) NPs in first-group monovalent cationic solutions (i.e., MNO3, M = Li+, Na+, K+ and Rb+) were quantitatively investigated, by employing a laboratory quartz crystal microbalance with the dissipation monitoring (QCM-D) technique. The influence of common model biomacromolecules, including a polysaccharide (alginate) and protein (bovine serum albumin (BSA)), was reported as well. The results demonstrated that the cations can decrease the deposition kinetics of different charged NPs with decreasing hydration degree of additive cations in the order Li+ > Na+ > K+ > Rb+. The variance in the deposition behaviors of NPs at fixed electrolyte concentration can be quantitatively explained by a modified DLVO theory that introduced hydration forces, which induced short range repulsion within the model that dominated the colloidal interactions of NPs with the surface and resulted in these specific effects. Moreover, the two biomacromolecules impacted the deposition of both NPs in an opposite manner: BSA could enhance the attachment of NPs on the silica surface, while alginate can decrease the deposition and enhance their mobility in aqueous solutions, dependent on the molecular complexity. These findings are helpful for understanding the deposition behavior of NPs under the effect of ionic specificity and giving quantitative evidence for the role of counterion hydration in the interactions between electrostatically charged ENPs and the environmental surface in aqueous media.

Water resources of desired quality and quantity are the foundation for human survival and sustainable development. To better protect the water environment and conserve water resources, efficient water management, purification, and transportation are of critical importance. In recent years, machine learning (ML) has exhibited its practicability, reliability, and high efficiency in numerous applications; furthermore, it has solved conventional and emerging problems in both natural and engineered water systems. For example, ML can predict various water quality indicators in situ and real-time by considering the complex interactions among water-related variables. ML approaches can also solve emerging pollution problems with proven rules or universal mechanisms summarized from the related research. Moreover, by applying image recognition technology to analyze the relationships between image information and physicochemical properties of the research object, ML can effectively identify and characterize specific contaminants. In view of the bright prospects of ML, this review comprehensively summarizes the development of ML applications in natural and engineered water systems. First, the concept and modeling steps of ML are briefly introduced, including data preparation, algorithm selection and model evaluation. In addition, comprehensive applications of ML in recent studies, including predicting water quality, mapping groundwater contaminants, classifying water resources, tracing contaminant sources, and evaluating pollutant toxicity in natural water systems, as well as modeling treatment techniques, assisting characterization analysis, purifying and distributing drinking water, and collecting and treating sewage water in engineered water systems, are summarized. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of commonly used algorithms are analyzed according to their structures and mechanisms, and recommendations on the selection of ML algorithms for different studies, as well as prospects on the application and development of ML in water science are proposed. This review provides references for solving a wider range of water-related problems and brings further insights into the intelligent development of water science.

Exploring the transport behaviors of thallium (Tl) in porous media is crucial for predicting Tl pollution in natural soils and groundwater. In recent years, the misuse of plastics has led to plastic becoming an emerging pollutant in soil. In this work, the effects of plastic particles on Tl(I) transport in water-saturated sand columns were investigated under different ionic strengths (ISs), pH values, and plastic particle sizes. The two-site nonequilibrium model was selected to fit the breakthrough curves (BTCs) of Tl(I). The results demonstrated that nanoplastics (NPs) accelerated Tl(I) transport at pH 7, which might be attributed to the competitive adsorption of NPs and Tl(I) on sand surfaces. However, at pH 5, the deposited NPs might provide more adsorption sites for Tl(I), and thus enhance its retention in the columns. In addition, the "straining" process could intercept microplastics (MPs) with Tl(I) that was attached under unfavorable attachment conditions, which would result in the inhibited mobility of Tl(I). On the other hand, the migration of plastics was restrained to some extent when Tl(I) was present. Overall, the findings from this work provided a new perspective for understanding the transport of Tl(I) and plastics in subsurface environments.

The initial deposition kinetics of colloidal MnO2 on three representative surfaces in aquatic systems (i.e., silica, magnetite, and alumina) in NaNO3 solution were investigated in the presence of model constituents, including humic acid (HA), a polysaccharide (alginate), and a protein (bovine serum albumin (BSA), using laboratory quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring equipment (QCM-D). The results indicated that the deposition behaviors of MnO2 colloids on three surfaces were in good agreement with classical Derjaguin–Landau–Verwey–Overbeek (DLVO) theory. Critical deposition concentrations (CDC) were determined to be 15.5 mM NaNO3 and 9.0 mM NaNO3 when colloidal MnO2 was deposited onto silica and magnetite, respectively. Both HA and alginate could largely retard the deposition of MnO2 colloids onto three selected surfaces due to steric repulsion, and HA was more effective in decreasing the deposition rate relative to alginate. The growing development of nanotechnology has promoted the wide application of engineered nanomaterials, raising immense concern over the toxicological impacts of nanoparticles on the ecological environment during their transport processes. Nanoparticles in aquatic systems may undergo deposition onto environmental surfaces, which affects the corresponding interactions of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) with other contaminants and their environmental fate to a certain extent. In this review, the most common ENPs, i.e., carbonaceous, metallic, and nonmetallic nanoparticles, and their potential ecotoxicological impacts on the environment are summarized. Colloidal interactions, including Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) and non-DLVO forces, involved in governing the depositional behavior of these nanoparticles in aquatic systems are outlined in this work. Moreover, laboratory approaches for examining the deposition of ENPs on collector surfaces, such as the packed-bed column and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) method, and the limitations of their applications are outlined. In addition, the deposition kinetics of nanoparticles on different types of surfaces are critically discussed as well, with emphasis on other influencing factors, including particle-specific properties, particle aggregation, ionic strength, pH, and natural organic matter. Finally, the future outlook and challenges of estimating the environmental transport of ENPs are presented. This review will be helpful for better understanding the effects and transport fate of ENPs in aquatic systems. Graphical abstract ᅟ.

Hydrological connectivity can strongly influence phytoplankton communities and ecological status through the interchange of nutrients and organisms in interconnected aquatic habitats. However, there is little consensus regarding the distinction of environmental variables influencing phytoplankton communities related to hydrological connectivity in different aquatic habitats. In this two-year (2013–2014) study, we investigated phytoplankton communities and their relationships with environmental variables in four hydrologically connected aquatic habitats (from upstream to downstream: the Nur Dongbei wetland, Lake Xiaoxingkai, Lake Xingkai, and the Song′acha River) in the Lake Xingkai basin in northeast China. Our aim was to study the effects of hydrological connectivity on phytoplankton communities, and to identify potential indicators of water quality for the basin. We observed that environmental variables and phytoplankton communities showed spatial and temporal heterogeneity in the four habitats, with higher phytoplankton metrics in Lake Xiaoxingkai and lower phytoplankton metrics in the Song′acha River, including species richness, abundance, biomass, and diversity. Increased nutrient concentrations occurred in those habitats connected to the eutrophic Lake Xiaoxingkai during the hydrologically connected period. Lake Xiaoxingkai, Lake Xingkai, and the Song′acha River were dominated by Chlorophyta, whereas Bacillariophyta was the major component of phytoplankton composition in the Nur Dongbei wetland. Environmental variables influencing phytoplankton communities differed during connected and disconnected periods across the four habitats. Results of Pearson correlation analysis and canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) showed that phytoplankton community was mainly affected by concentrations of iron (Fe2+), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) in the lakes; by water depth and transparency in the river; and by pH and silicate concentrations in the wetland. Based on the results of non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) analysis, hydrological connectivity increased phytoplankton community similarity among different habitats during the connected period. Cyclotella meneghiniana and Anabaena azotica could be used as useful indicators to determine water quality conditions due to their strong sensitivity to nutrient concentrations in freshwater bodies. Our findings provide a scientific basis for water quality protection and management at the basin scale.

Changes in solution chemistry and transport conditions can lead to the release of deposited MnO

The debates about the extent to which phytoplankton in freshwater ecosystems are regulated by top-down or bottom-up forces have been ongoing for decades. This study examines the effects of bottom-up and top-down factors on the phytoplankton functional groups in a eutrophic lake. Phytoplankton and zooplankton were sampled and physical-chemical variables measured from May 2019 to October 2019 in Lake Hulun, China. Approximately 43 phytoplankton species were observed and grouped into 23 functional groups. For the zooplankton, about 27 species were observed and classified into 8 functional groups. The study revealed that the bottom-up effects of physical-chemical variables on some phytoplankton functional groups was stronger than the top-down effects of zooplankton. Water temperature (WT), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), conductivity (Cond), water transparency (SD), and dissolved oxygen (DO) significant influence the biomass of the phytoplankton functional groups. The biomass of phytoplankton functional groups was influenced positively by nutrient availability likely because nutrients influence the growth and reproduction of phytoplankton in freshwater. WT and DO had a positive influence on biomass of phytoplankton functional groups. Conversely, phytoplankton biomass revealed a decreasing trend when SD and Cond significantly increased. This study showed that zooplankton functional groups were positively correlated with phytoplankton biomass implying that the top-down control of phytoplankton by the zooplankton in the lake is not strong enough to produce a negative effect. It is evident that the zooplankton functional groups in Lake Hulun are controlled more by bottom-up force than top-down.

Engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) will inevitably enter wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) due to their widespread application; thus, it is necessary to study the migration and transformation of nanoparticles in sewage treatment systems. Extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs) such as polysaccharides, proteins, nucleic acids, humic acids and other polymers are polymers released by microorganisms under certain conditions. Intracellular polymeric substances (IPSs) are microbial substances contained in the body with compositions similar to those of extracellular polymers. In this review, we summarize the characteristics of EPSs and IPSs from sewage-collecting microbial aggregates containing pure bacteria, activated sludge, granular sludge and biofilms. We also further investigate the dissolution, adsorption, aggregation, deposition, oxidation and other chemical transformation processes of nanoparticles, such as metals, metal oxides, and nonmetallic oxides. In particular, the review deeply analyzes the migration and transformation mechanisms of nanoparticles in EPS and IPS matrices, including physical, chemical, biological interactions mechanisms. Moreover, various factors, such as ionic strength, ionic valence, pH, light, oxidation-reduction potential and dissolved oxygen, influencing the interaction mechanisms are discussed. In recent years, studies on the interactions between EPSs/IPSs and nanoparticles have gradually increased, but the mechanisms of these interactions are seldom explored. Therefore, developing a systematic understanding of the migration and transformation mechanisms of ENPs is significant.

Thallium (Tl) has drawn wide concern due to its high toxicity even at extremely low concentrations, as well as its tendency for significant accumulation in the human body and other organisms. The need to develop effective strategies for trace Tl removal from drinking water is urgent. In this study, the removal of trace Tl (0.5 μg L −1 ) by conventional quartz sand filtration enhanced by nanosized manganese dioxide (nMnO 2 ) has been investigated using typical surface water obtained from northeast China. The results indicate that nMnO 2 enhanced quartz sand filtration could remove trace Tl(I) and Tl(III) efficiently through the adsorption of Tl onto nMnO 2 added to a water matrix and onto nMnO 2 attached on quartz sand surfaces. Tl(III)-HA complexes might be responsible for higher residual Tl(III) in the effluent compared to residual Tl(I). Competitive Ca 2+ cations inhibit Tl removal to a certain extent because the Ca 2+ ions will occupy the Tl adsorption site on nMnO 2 . Moreover, high concentrations of HA (10 mgTOC L −1 ), which notably complexes with and dissolves nMnO 2 (more than 78%), resulted in higher residual Tl(I) and Tl(III). Tl(III)-HA complexes might also enhance Tl(III) penetration to a certain extent. Additionally, a higher pH level could enhance the removal of trace Tl from surface water. Finally, a slight increase of residual Tl was observed after backwash, followed by the reduction of the Tl concentration in the effluent to a “steady” state again. The knowledge obtained here may provide a potential strategy for drinking water treatment plants threatened by trace Tl.

To study the relationship between zooplankton community structure and environmental factors and water quality in the Harbin Section of the Songhua River, investigations were carried out in June, August, and October 2011. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) and saprobic indices were used to process and analyze the data. Seasonal variability was identified as a significant source of variation, which explains the fluctuation in zooplankton density. In autumn, the dry season, water residence time increased and zooplankton biomass and abundance accumulated in the slow flowing waters. Zooplankton abundance increased when food conditions improved. Therefore, the total zooplankton abundance in autumn is much higher than that in spring and summer. According to the saprobic indices, all the sample sites had mesosaprobic water and water quality was worse in autumn. CCA revealed that temperature accounted for most of the spatial variation in the zooplankton community. Moreover, pH, dissolved oxygen saturation, and turbidity were important factors affecting zooplankton community distribution.

The present study was carried out in the biggest tributary of Ussuri River of boundary between China and Russia. The Muling River basin has undergone a long-term dredging works, and waterbody became seriously turbid. The succession of phytoplankton functional groups succession and environmental factors in the river were sampled in 2015. We totally identified 83 species, belonging to 17 functional groups which 5 were predominant, including group F, M, MP, P and Y. The seasonal succession of phytoplankton functional groups was M/P-F/MP/P-MP/P. Results of Spearman correlation analysis and canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) revealed that phytoplankton functional groups were mainly influenced by nutrient concentrations and light availability including total nitrogen (TN), ammonium nitrogen (NH4+–N), nitrate nitrogen (NO3−–N), N:P ratio (N:P), water depth (D) and transparency (SD) in the basin.

The aim of this study was to determine the phytoplankton community structures of reservoirs of different trophic status, located in a cold region. Physical and chemical variables and the phytoplankton communities were investigated in two reservoirs (Xiquanyan Reservoir and Taoshan Reservoir) in Northeast China in 2009. The two reservoirs showed strong seasonal fluctuations in their physical and chemical composition. Results of the trophic status index indicated that Xiaquanyan Reservoir was mesotrophic, whilst Taoshan Reservoir was eutrophic. Diatoms were the dominant phytoplankton group in Xiquanyan Reservoir throughout all seasons of the study, while in Taoshan Reservoir, diatoms dominated in spring, and cyanobacteria dominated in summer and autumn. This difference was resulted from differences in local environmental factors, including nutrients and hydrology. This study suggests that in mesotrophic reservoirs, nutrients played a key role in controlling seasonal phytoplankton successions, whereas in eutrophic reservoirs water temperature was the key factor in a cold region. Notably, the dominant species in summer in the Taoshan Reservoir was Microcystis, which may produce toxins depending on the ambient conditions, and presenting a risk of local toxin contamination.

In the present study, nano-sized TiO2/Al2O3 modified polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes (MM) were fabricated and then utilized for oil/water emulsion separation. The results showed that, compared with PVDF membrane (OM), the contact angle of MM decreased and hydrophilicity increased. The ultrafiltration (UF) of oil in water emulsions with transmembrane pressure (TMP) increasing results in a sharp fall in relative flux with time. The cake filtration models did not always predict the performance over the complete range of filtration times very well. In the initial 30 min, all the four cake models can simulate this UF process to a certain extent, and the suitability was: cake filtration > intermediate pore blocking > standard pore blocking > complete pore blocking models. However, they were no longer adapted well with UF time extent to 60 min, but only cake filtration (R2 = 0.9535) maintained a high adaptability. Surface and cross-sectional morphology of the membrane was investigated by SEM to make an advanced certificate of this UF mechanism.

Thallium (Tl) is an element of high toxicity and significant accumulation in human body. There is an urgent need for the development of appropriate strategies for trace Tl removal in drinking water treatment plants. In this study, the efficiency and mechanism of trace Tl (0.5 μg/L) removal by conventional coagulation enhanced by nanosized manganese dioxide (nMnO2) were explored in simulated water and two representative surface waters (a river water and a reservoir water obtained from Northeast China). Experimental results showed that nMnO2 significantly improve Tl(I) removal from selected waters. The removal efficiency was dramatically higher in the simulated water, demonstrating by less than 0.1 μg/L Tl residual. The enhancement of trace Tl removal in the surface waters decreased to a certain extent. Both adjusting water pH to alkaline condition and preoxidation of Tl(I) to Tl(III) benefit trace Tl removal from surface waters. Data also indicated that competitive cation of Ca2+ decreased the efficiency of trace Tl removal, resulting from the reduction of Tl adsorption on nMnO2. Humic acid could largely low Tl removal efficiency during nMnO2 enhanced coagulation processes. Trace elemental Tl firstly adsorbed on nMnO2 and then removed accompanying with nMnO2 settling. The information obtained in the present study may provide a potential strategy for drinking water treatment plants threatened by trace Tl.

A novel composite nanofiltration membrane incorporated with silica nanoparticles was prepared by interfacial polymerization on polysulfone (PSF) ultrafiltration membrane. The silica nanoparticles (∼15 nm) were homogeneously dispersed in poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer aqueous monomers and incorporated in situ into the polyamide films. Series of tests including FTIR–ATR, AFM, XPS, etc. were performed to characterize the polyamide (PA)-SiO 2 membrane's morphologies, structure, physical and chemical characteristics, separation properties and permeability, etc. The results showed that silica loading into the PA membrane resulted in roughness and hydrophilicity promotion. The permeation performance for PA-SiO 2 membrane increased nearly 50% without loss of salt rejection rate by adding 1.0% (wt.) nano-SiO 2 nanoparticles in aqueous solution. The order of rejection to inorganic salts is Na 2 SO 4 > MgSO 4 > MgCl 2 > NaCl revealed both PA and PA-SiO 2 membrane were nagatively charged. The zeta potentials testing results indicated addition of SiO 2 will increase the negative charge quantities on the surface of PA-SiO 2 membrane for negatively charged hydroxyl groups and silanol-covered nano-SiO 2 surface. The value of molecular weight cutoff (MWCO) for PA-SiO 2 membrane was about 1000 g/mol and the additive of SiO 2 nanoparticles to PA membrane enlarges the pore size slightly. The PA-SiO 2 membrane had a higher stable flux and could remove nearly 50% salts when treated with oily wastewater in one-cycle filtration. Desalination of oily wastewater using the nacomposite PA-SiO 2 membrane is feasible.

In this study, the concept of functional groups was applied for the first time to the seasonal dynamics of the phytoplankton community of Mudanjiang River (northeast China). The environmental variables as well as the phytoplankton communities were determined in 2007. The river showed strong seasonal fluctuations in water physical and chemical condition. A total of 11 phytoplankton functional groups (C, D, E, J, MP, P, T, TB, W1, X2 and Y) were identified that included 30 species. Groups C (Asterionella formosa and Cyclotella meneghiniana), MP (Cocconeis placentula, Cymatopleara solea, Diatoma vulgare, Ochromonas fragilis, Pinnularia major and Ulothrix variabilis), P (Fragilaria capucina, Fragilaris sp., Aulacoseira granulate and Aulacoseira granulate var. angustissima), TB (Aulacoseira varians and Navicula exigua, Navicula radiosa), X2 (Chlamydomonas sp.) and Y (Chroomonas acuta, Cryptomonas ovata, and Cryptomonas sp.) were the dominant groups during the study period. The typical serial robot Motoman with six joints, high-speed and wide-workspace, for which inverse module is designed by Denavit-Hartenberg Matrix. According to D-H Parameters, the forward kinematics solution is analyzed and a Geometric Approach is used to the inverse solution. A simulation example through circular interpolation method on vs2013 shows the effectiveness of the proposed approach by comparing the circles before and after the forward/inverse kinematics solution. Finally, this paper analysed the characteristics of this algorithm.

This paper aims to characterize the community structure of phytoplankton in cold water region with different degrees of human impact in northeast part of China. Diatoms are dominant species without human disturbance all the year round; with low water discharge, Cyanophyta, Cryptophyta and Euglenophyta are increased in spring and winter with human disturbance. Compare to tropical region, the biomass of diatom is absolutely dominant in cold region.

This paper studies the cumulative effect of various parameters, namely anionic polyacrylamide (APAM) concentration, oil concentration, pH, trans-membrane pressure (TMP), and total dissolved solid (TDS), and obtains optimal parameters for the minimum relative flux (J/J(0)) declining in aqueous solutions with response surface methodology (RSM). In order to analyze the mutual interaction and optimal values of parameters affecting ultrafiltration, a central composite rotatable design (CCRD), one method of RSM, was employed. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the cubic polynomial model demonstrated that this model was highly significant and reliable. The results show that the effect of APAM and oil on J/J(0) has an inverse trend with pH value increasing. Moreover, the mutual interaction of initial APAM (oil) concentration (C(APAM(oil))) and pH (TMP) were negligible, while the mutual interaction of C(APAM) and C(oil) has an obvious effect, i.e. the effect of initial feed C(APAM) became more important at higher values of initial feed C(oil), and the J/J(0) was only about 4%. The favorable operate conditions in this ultrafiltration process were at low C(APAM), C(oil), pH, and TMP, which agreed with the conclusions of many authors, while considering water production, C(APAM) and C(oil) < 50 mg/L, pH < 4, and TMP < 0.075 MPa could be accepted.
