In the 21st century, with active policy support, the smart hardware industry ushered in rapid development of the Internet of things, big data, and other emerging technologies, which has brought people a more intelligent way of life. Smart product retail experience stores have also emerged as a result. One of the key aspects of the consumer shopping experience is highlighted by the furniture design of the smart display table. This study considers the background of consumer rejuvenation and the diversification of needs, through in-depth examination of user pain points, and output of the design of smart product display table from the user experience perspective. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Function Analysis System Technique (FAST) are used to systematically refine the smart display table requirements, synthesize the weights of the sorting factors, quantify the demand contribution value, and transform the requirements into functional design points. The goal is to enhance the user experience, while achieving exterior styling and usage features of the smart display table. This study provides theoretical and practical support for furniture design in the smart hardware industry, emphasizing the role of consumer experience and needs in product design and providing considerations for design research.

Abstract In the context of the epidemic, the daily routines of China’s elderly populace underwent substantial transformations. The implementation of home-based pandemic containment strategies led to heightened levels of social isolation and loneliness, exerting a discernible influence on the subjective well-being of this demographic. Consequently, residing in retirement apartments has emerged as a more advantageous alternative for elderly individuals capable of self-care. To meet their life and emotional needs and improve their sense of well-being, we used the KANO model to design a health management app for the self-care of older persons. We summarised the functional requirements for the self-care of elderly people, distributed questionnaires to generate a list of requirements, and conducted data analysis. We optimised the low-fidelity prototype based on the usability test results combined with relevant interface design elements to implement emotional interaction design practices for older persons’ self-care. Furthermore, we completed a design evaluation and program optimisation of the design practice to guide the final visual design. The research findings identify the core principles of interactive design for elderly users to enable visual design specifications for improving the lives of the elderly population. This research highlights the need to design more appropriate products that meet demographic characteristics. This work contributes to strengthening the connection between elderly people and society while bridging the ‘digital divide’ based on this population’s cautious approach to technologies and declining abilities to learn.

The use of decorative wood veneers in contemporary design is increasingly emphasized as society becomes more aware of quality of life and environmental protection. This article explores in detail four key aspects of decorative wood veneers as a contemporary design medium: visual perceptual elements, multisensory interaction, sustainability and environmental impact, and technology and innovation. Through its unique aesthetic attributes and multisensory experience, decorative wood veneers enhance the aesthetics and user experience of interior design, respond to the global trend of sustainability, and promote innovation and environmental responsibility in the design industry through the use of environmentally friendly materials and advanced technologies. This article aims to provide insights for designers, researchers and related industries to stimulate further exploration of the application of decorative wood veneers in design innovation.

Taking the motivation of the knowledge aggregation of age-friendly design resources as the starting point, this paper compares the development history of age-friendly design for interactive interfaces, understands the research status, hotspots, and development trend of age-friendly design for interactive interfaces from 2003 to 2022 worldwide, and summarizes and analyses them. This paper explores five aspects of aging-friendly design in the field of interactive interface design extracted from the Web of Science core collection database, including keyword co-occurrence analysis of global research literature, country/region information analysis, fundamental research areas, major research institutions, and future research directions. It explores the design methods, design trends, and design laws of aging-friendly design for interactive interfaces from a multidisciplinary perspective. The results show that: (a) Smart Home, Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), User Experience, Internet of Things (IoT), etc., are the hot topics at the forefront of interface aging design. (b) USA is the world’s leading research site for interface aging design and works closely with China, where the population aging is more serious. (c) The main research areas of interface aging are computer science and engineering ethics. (d) Udice French Research Universities, the primary publishing institution, is worth attention. (e) This review proposes three research hotspots as important development directions for interactive interface aging design, including “smart home product interaction interface aging design will become a hot topic,”“fusion of multi-source data assisted interface aging design,” and “interdisciplinary interface aging design.”

The Internet economy is flourishing, and the form of consumption has shifted from offline brick-and-mortar shopping to online consumption. At the same time, COVID-19 led to many offline stores being constrained in many ways, accelerating the conversion of shopping. The purpose of the study is to enable users to effectively use mobile products and optimize their service experience during furniture consumption. This study compares the relevant theories and the current state of research. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, user needs are investigated and data analysis is conducted to summarize interface improvement suggestions. The high-fidelity prototype design was conducted, and the interactive prototype was delivered to users for testing to verify the effect and feasibility of interface optimization and to propose improvement suggestions for the mobile terminal of furnishings.

Introduction: Pain is a common health problem among older adults worldwide. Older adults tend to suffer from arm, lumbar, and back pain when using hanging cabinets.Methods: This study used surface electromyography to record muscle activity and a motion capture system to record joint motion to research effects of different loads and retrieval postures on muscle activity and joint range of motion when older adults retrieve objects from a high place, to provide optimised feedback for the design of hanging cabinet furniture.Results: We found that: 1) The activity of BB (Biceps brachii) on the side of the body interacting with the cabinet door was greater than that of UT (Upper trapezius) and BR (Brachial radius) when retrieving objects from a high place, the activity of UT on the side of the body interacting with a heavy object was greater than that of BB and BR. 2) The activity of UT decreases when the shoulder joint angle is greater than 90°, but the activity of BB increases as the angle increases. In contrast, increasing the object’s mass causes the maximum load on the shoulder joint. 3) Among the different postures for overhead retrieval, alternating between the right and left hand is preferable for the overhead retrieval task. 4) Age had the most significant effect on overhead retrieval, followed by height (of person), and load changes were significantly different only at the experiment’s left elbow joint and the L.BR. 5) Older adults took longer and exerted more effort to complete the task than younger adults, and static exercise in older adults may be more demanding on muscle activity in old age than powered exercise.Conclusion: These results help to optimise the design of hanging cabinet furniture. Regarding the height of hanging cabinets, 180 cm or less is required for regular retrieval movements if the human height is less than 150 cm. Concerning the depth of the hanging cabinets, different heights chose different comfort distances, which translated into the depth of the hanging cabinets; the greater the height, the greater the depth of the hanging cabinets to use.

IntroductionThe smart home has become a popular product, but with the development of the aging population, the differentiated characteristics of the elderly smart home products in terms of demand and use are becoming more and more significant. The existing smart products are complicated to operate and cumbersome to interact with, which increases the cognitive load of the elderly group and hinders the daily use and user experience feeling of the elderly. The purpose of this paper is to study the interface data information and interface visual design starting from hardware and software, interface interaction, to explore the better interface data information and interface visual design, and to output, a new prototype of the operating interface of smart home system for the elderly, so that the smart products can be better used by the elderly.MethodsThirty-two participants aged 55–75 were invited to conduct the test, and subjective evaluation was conducted at the end of the test. Through the tests, the operability of the prototype structure for smart furniture systems for the elderly was demonstrated.ResultsIn terms of functionality a new task based on a combination of icons and text is proposed. In the control of devices, the switching status of devices, etc., needs to be clearly distinguished visually, eye-protective bright colors are used, paired with low saturation to highlight the focus, and high bright colors with gray to distinguish the device status. In terms of the density of the content, an appropriate proportion of images and text were used to make the information less dense. ln the arrangement of web content, information content relevant to users was placed first as much as possible.DiscussionBased on this, a secondary optimal design was carried out to improve the interactive design of the smart home for the elderly and output it as a prototype interactive interface. Thus, the operability, rationality, and aesthetic comfort of the prototype design of smart home interaction in an age-friendly scenario are improved, allowing the elderly to have a better experience when using the smart home.

This paper analyses users with different lifestyles and consumer behaviour, and then segments wooden door users with different consumer preferences, to inspire wooden door companies in their product design and further research on wooden doors. In this paper, a wooden door user research questionnaire was created based on Lifestyle Theory and Consumer Behaviour Theory, and data collection was completed at Nanjing Forestry University. The collected data were analysed using cluster analysis, factor analysis, cross-over analysis, and other analysis methods. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to simplify the analysis model and process the data, and finally the wooden door users were divided into four categories. The categories were trendy home users, budget-conscious sensible users, basic needs users, and impulsive enjoyable users. Male users were found to be more likely to be "trendy home users" and "impulsive enjoyable users," while female users were more likely to be "budget-conscious sensible users" and "trendy home users." For the number of users, the "trendy home users" were the most numerous, followed by the "budget-conscious sensible users." The age of wooden door users in this study was mainly distributed between 21 to 30 years old, of which "freelancers" accounted for the highest percentage.

This study aims to integrate data-driven methodologies with user perception to establish a robust design paradigm. The study consists of five steps: (1) theoretical research—a review of the subject background and applications of Kansei engineering and gray relational analysis (GRA); (2) algorithmic framework research—the discussion delves into the intricate realm of Kansei engineering theory, accompanied by a thorough elucidation of the gray relational analysis (GRA) algorithmic framework, a crucial component in constructing a fuzzy logic model for product image modeling; (3) Kansei data collection—18 groups of perceptual words and six classic samples are selected, and the electric recliner chair samples are scored by the Kansei words; (4) Kansei data analysis—morphological analysis categorizes the electric recliner chair into four variables. followed by the ranking and key consideration areas of each area; (5) GRA fuzzy logic model verification—the GRA fuzzy logic model performs simple–complex (S-C) imagery output on 3D models of three modeling instances. By calculating the RMSE value of the seat image modeling design GRA fuzzy logic model, it is proven that the seat image modeling design GRA fuzzy logic model performs well in predicting S-C imagery. The subsequent experimental study results also show that the GRA fuzzy logic model consistently produces lower root mean square error (RMSE) values. These results indicate the efficacy of the GRA fuzzy logic approach in forecasting the visual representation of the electric recliner chair shape’s 3D model design. In summary, this research underscores the practical utility of the GRA model, harmoniously merged with perceptual engineering, in the realm of image recognition for product design. This synergy could fuel the extensive exploration of product design, examining perceptual engineering nuances in product modeling design.

The outcomes of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) vary widely, and about 40% of them could not be cured by the standard first-line treatment, R-CHOP, which could be due to the high heterogeneity of DLBCL. Here, we aim to construct a prognostic model based on the genetic signature of metabolic heterogeneity of DLBCL to explore therapeutic strategies for DLBCL patients. Clinical and transcriptomic data of one training and four validation cohorts of DLBCL were obtained from the GEO database. Metabolic subtypes were identified by PAM clustering of 1,916 metabolic genes in the 7 major metabolic pathways in the training cohort. DEGs among the metabolic clusters were then analyzed. In total, 108 prognosis-related DEGs were identified. Through univariable Cox and LASSO regression analyses, 15 DEGs were used to construct a risk score model. The overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) of patients with high risk were significantly worse than those with low risk (OS: HR 2.86, 95%CI 2.04–4.01, p < 0.001; PFS: HR 2.42, 95% CI 1.77–3.31, p < 0.001). This model was also associated with OS in the four independent validation datasets (GSE10846: HR 1.65, p = 0.002; GSE53786: HR 2.05, p = 0.02; GSE87371: HR 1.85, p = 0.027; GSE23051: HR 6.16, p = 0.007) and PFS in the two validation datasets (GSE87371: HR 1.67, p = 0.033; GSE23051: HR 2.74, p = 0.049). Multivariable Cox analysis showed that in all datasets, the risk model could predict OS independent of clinical prognosis factors (p < 0.05). Compared with the high-risk group, patients in the low-risk group predictively respond to R-CHOP (p = 0.0042), PI3K inhibitor (p < 0.05), and proteasome inhibitor (p < 0.05). Therefore, in this study, we developed a signature model of 15 DEGs among 3 metabolic subtypes, which could predict survival and drug sensitivity in DLBCL patients.

IntroductionSmart home technology is increasingly popular, yet not all seniors are receptive and comfortable with it. This situation recognizes that the usability of smart home interfaces is particularly important. Most studies on interface swiping direction demonstrate the advantages of horizontal over vertical swiping, but the findings lack age-based as well as gender-specific judgments.MethodsIn this paper, we use cognitive neural techniques of EEG and eye-tracking, combined with a subjective preference questionnaire, to analyze the preference of older persons for the swiping direction of smart home interfaces in a multimodal manner.ResultsThe EEG data showed that swiping direction had a significant effect on potential values (p = 0.001). Also, the mean power in the δ and the θ band was enhanced during vertical swiping. Gender had no significant effect on potential values (p = 0.085), but the cognitive task was more EEG stimulating for females. The eye-tracking metrics data showed a significant effect of swiping direction on fixation duration (p = 0.047) and a non-significant effect on pupil diameter (p = 0.576). These results were consistent with the results of the subjective preference questionnaire, both demonstrating a preference for vertical swiping among participants.DiscussionThis paper uses three research tools simultaneously, combining objective perceptions as well as subjective preferences, to make the findings more comprehensive and reliable. Gender differences were also taken into account and differentiated in the data processing. The findings of this paper are different from most previous studies and better reflect the preference of elderly people for swiping directions, which can provide a reference for the future elderly-friendly smart home interface design.

In response to global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Chinese government has pledged to curtail increased carbon dioxide emissions beyond 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, thus achieving a status of an ecological civilization. Reconstituted decorative lumber, with rotary-cut (or planed) veneer from plantation or common species timber as the main raw material, has beneficial development opportunities for forestry from the perspective of an ecological civilization. This paper first discusses China’s current state of ecological civilization, then researches the various life cycles of reconstituted decorative lumber using the life cycle theory and provides a reference for the Chinese reconstituted decorative lumber industry’s development by analyzing progress in related fields. The eco-friendliness of reconstituted decorative lumber is explained via systematic combing, and proposals for the use and promotion of reconstituted decorative lumber in the new period are presented. Research and analysis findings show that it is necessary to comprehensively regulate the production chain of reconstituted decorative lumber based on life cycle. Research on the development and utilization of reconstituted decorative lumber needs to be strengthened. The promotion and marketing of reconstituted decorative lumber can be promoted by emphasizing its ecological significance.

Elderly users are unable to adapt to the technological dividend brought by the internet of everything as soon as possible due to the deterioration in cognitive and perceptual functions, especially in the state of development of modern intelligent homes whose users’ practical operational capabilities cannot be matched. This situation creates a digital divide in which older users also need helpmate intelligent home systems. Current research on innovative home systems often lacks a focus on the elderly and a matching mapping between smart homes and operational capabilities. Therefore, this study proposes a theoretical approach and model based on the matching between smart home functions and older users’ abilities. This modelling path provides specific guidance for actual smart home design practices. This study outlines the methodology, theoretical derivation, and construction of the user capability gradient for matching functions and requirements of elderly users. Based on a theoretical model, experimental data, and threshold law in practical application, the age-appropriate intelligent home control system is developed independently, and the integrated development of hardware and software cloud synergy is realised for the user pain points of elderly users to make up for the gap at this research level.

With the lifestyle change, users' demand for furniture has shown a trend for personalization and diversification. The customized furniture market is growing rapidly and gradually becoming an indispensable choice for lifestyle items. The present qualitative study sought to identify the influencing factors and relationships of user demand for customized furniture. This study constructed a 4E semi-structured interview guide, which means that interviews were conducted from 4 dimensions: essential information, information extraction, user experience, and product expectation. The interview results were coded and analyzed in combination with grounded theory. Based on the identified 38 concepts and 10 categories, we obtain 4 main categories: fundamental condition, operation behaviour, sensory value and emotional value. For the factors that affect the demand of customized furniture users, customized furniture enterprises can start from 2 levels of publicity and product design to meet user demand and improve the user purchase probability.

Smart homes create a beneficial environment for the lives of elderly people and enhance the quality of their home lives. This study aims to explore the design of age-friendly interfaces that can meet the emotional needs of self-care elderly people from the perspective of functional realization of the operating interface. Sixteen elderly users aged fifty-five and above were selected as subjects with healthy eyes and no excessive drooping eyelids to obscure them. Four representative age-friendly applications with different interface designs were selected from the Android application market as the stimulus material for the experiment, and a total of fifteen pages were browsed independently. During the experiment, the ErgoLAB human-computer environment synchronization cloud platform was used to monitor and record the subjects' multidimensional physiological indicators of eye movements, skin electricity, and heart rate variability when using different styles of mobile application interfaces. Combined with the post-experimental PAD emotion scale data, the preferences of emotional interface design elements of the self-care elderly were analyzed to guide the subsequent design practice. The results show that: on the layout characteristics of the home page, a simple and intuitive multi-column layout or card layout combined with a bottom navigation bar type main navigation is used; on the choice of the main color, a single color with low saturation is used as the main color, with high saturation color accents to play a role in highlighting key information; on the information density of the home page, a moderate proportion of graphics and text is adopted, with low information density; on the arrangement of the page content, they try to give priority to information content with high user relevance.

With the increasing aging today, the rich life experience has become a topic that people are urgently concerned about. This research mainly discusses the research and application of VR-based smart home image analysis system. This research combines the intelligent design and implementation of the image analysis system of VR technology. The system uses 2D image processing, segmentation, and recognition to filter out information that is of interest to the image, which is helpful for a reasonable plan for smart homes. During the experiment, a mixed model was used to model the background scene, the background difference method was used to detect the moving target in the image, and then the face detection of the moving target was performed. Through such simple real-time image processing, the necessity of real-time video monitoring is realized. After that, the abnormal image data can be saved to provide effective evidence, and the system will issue a warning after detecting the abnormality, which can effectively monitor specific areas such as home. 110 frames of video clips of people actually walking indoors are used for face detection. Experimentally, the acquisition speed of the VR technology camera is 24 frames per second, and the resolution is 420*250. The research results show that image processing is an indispensable part of the intelligent process of video surveillance. It can also be said that the image processing technology of VR technology is more suitable for the smart and suitable home.

As the aging problem continues to intensify, the number of empty-nest elderly groups increases. Taking the living needs of the elderly as the core, intelligent and innovative design of elderly bedroom furniture in the direction of old age has become a hot topic. Therefore, it is very necessary to actively carry out research on the function matching of smart adaptable furniture terminal modules based on wireless sensor networks. The purpose of this article is to discuss the research on the functional matching of smart adaptable furniture terminal modules based on wireless sensor networks. The research object is the smart system for nursing homes. The system uses ZigBee technology to complete the indoor wireless sensor network (WSN) layout and conducts fall test experiments, Power saving experiment, network performance experiment, observe its performance. The research results show that the number of frontal fall tests is 50, the number of alarms is 48, and the accuracy rate is 96%; the number of back fall tests is 50, the number of alarms is 48, and the accuracy rate is 100%; The accuracy rate is 100%; the number of right side fall tests is 50 times and the number of alarms is 50 times, and the accuracy rate is 100%. It can be seen from this that the research on the function matching of smart adaptable furniture terminal modules based on wireless sensor networks is of great significance for enhancing the well-being of the elderly.

Pervasive deployment of autonomous vehicle all over the world is an undisputed trend in the future. Autonomous vehicle will inevitably play an essential role in decreasing traffic jams, reducing threats from driving while intoxicated (DWI), and assisting the handicapped to get around. At the same time, the new energy vehicles (NEV) especially the electromobile is gradually adopted by several governments like Germany, USA and China as compulsive transportation tools from the standpoint of environmental friendliness. Taking these two crucial trends into consideration, this article proposes a scheme of autonomous robotic car based on robot operation system (ROS) in electromobile-like car which can be easily transplanted to commercial electromobile. In this article, the design and implementation of robotic car are demonstrated in detail which involves overall architecture of functional modules, hardware design, obstacle avoidance, localization and mapping, land detection and tracking, velocity control and indoor navigation. All software modules and hardware are integrated in NVIDIA Jetson TX1 and TRAXXAS car.
